Cob, Piebald, Mare, 9 years, 16 hands
Magpie is a sweetheart and a good home is top priority
She is a big Cob mare who is gentle on the ground and a straightforward ride
She is easy to care for, good to catch clip load shoe etc
Hacks alone or in company and is oblivious to the traffic
Doesn't 'heat' up on turf, doesn't pull to go faster. However she can be forward going, and she is not a dopey plod. May not be suitable for a nervous novice. Though she will safely hack around a busy village with a keen child!
Magpie is good with other horses, doesn't cause 'mareish' fights. She has good cob conformation, good feet and is totally sound without any health issues. We believe she has bred a foal in the past, and could do again
Magpie has hunted last season, going well and sensible anywhere in the field with a snaffle in her mouth. She would love to hunt again. Or she would be ideal for a riding club home, or for hacking. She hasn't done a lot of jumping recently, but there's no reason she couldn't
Her flat work could improve a little for dressage, but the basics are good and she is submissive to the bridle and quite light in front for a big cob
Magpie is only for sale because she can become very stressed when left alone in a dark stable. Her very nervous owner has witnessed Magpie in a distressed state, and has now decided she needs a very old plod
Magpie will settle easily in a stable with a good view and some company and I personally think this is a very small price to pay for such a cracking good horse. (The owner is still happy to ride.)
