£600
  • Cob
  • Chestnut

  • 1 years
  • 12 hands
  • Future project pony
  • May mature to 13.2hh+
  • Lives out 24/7

- Based on our Home Direct scheme located in Ireland -

Rosie is a beautiful 12hh chestnut cob mare residing with the Irish Horse Welfare Trust at present. To broaden Rosie's search for a home she is available to adopt via our Home Direct scheme. Being a 12hh yearling now she may mature to 13.2+ once fully mature.

Despite her difficult start, Rosie has shown a lovely, gentle nature and is settling in well to her new routine. She currently lives out with companions and enjoys being part of a herd.

This young mare is making great progress with her basic handling. Rosie is easy to catch, leads politely, and is learning to pick up her feet with confidence. She’s starting to enjoy grooming sessions and has been well-mannered with the vet.

As she’s still very young, Rosie’s education will need to continue in her new home. She would suit a patient and experienced adopter who can give her the time, consistency, and gentle guidance she needs to flourish. With the right partnership, Rosie has lots of potential and will no doubt grow into a wonderful companion or future ridden pony.

Due to Rosie's current location, her adoption arrangements can be discussed in detail with the adoptions team.

- Based at a foster yard in Leicestershire -

Celest is a lovely young cob mare who is looking for her new home as a lead rein/childs riding pony. She originally came to us via the RSPCA and has settled in well at a foster yard, showing a friendly and curious nature.

Celest enjoys attention and will happily approach you in the field, often encouraging her companions to come over too. She’s a sweet little pony with plenty of personality and the potential to become a fun and versatile partner for the right person.

Celest is currently unbacked but ready to begin her ridden education once she has fully settled into her new environment. She is good to catch, lead, and groom, and she’s also comfortable having her feet picked out. Celest has been excellent for the vet and is undergoing regular farrier preparation as part of her training. Overall, she’s progressing nicely and showing that she’s willing and quick to learn with patient, consistent handling.

Celest is living happily with mares and would thrive in a home where she has gentle, compatible equine company. She will benefit from a calm, structured environment where her groundwork and early ridden training can be developed slowly and positively.

We’re looking for an experienced and confident adopter for Celest, ideally someone with knowledge of producing young ponies. With the right guidance, she has the potential to become a fantastic future lead-rein or child’s pony once her training is complete. If you’re looking for a bright, friendly project pony to bring on and enjoy, Celest could be the perfect addition to your family.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Dinky was late to be castrated, so their introductions were done carefully, and they’ve since become the best of friends. They’re now settled, happy, and inseparable. Both ponies are very easy to handle in all aspects – kind, polite, and a pleasure to have around.

Sunshine and Dinky would make perfect family ponies or lovely companions. They’re gentle, well-mannered, and full of character, bringing smiles to everyone who meets them. They deserve a home where they can stay together and continue their friendship in comfort and care.
