Fantastic Second Pony

Ref #: 342179
£4,000
  • Arab Part Bred
  • Grey
  • Mare
  • 13 years
  • 13.2 hands

Our Poppy is looking for her next forever home, as she is very sadly wasted and completely outgrown now, this is something we never thought we would do and is heartbreaking for us, so please no time wasters.

Poppy is a 14 y/o ( this year ) welsh b x arab. No medical history at all but some minor cosmetic blemishes. She has been with us for 6 years and previously came from the family who bred her, so only ever had 2 homes in her life.

In the 6 years we have had Poppy she has been out and about to clinics, lessons, countless local shows and unaffiliated dressage. She has had all sorts of riders on her from novices to experienced riders, however she isn’t a novice ride. While she hasn’t done much hacking, she will happily wander down the lane with another horse, she won’t really lead but doesn’t do anything nasty just not the most confident, this is the same in new environments as well as the roads.

Poppy is typical mare, she pulls faces in the stable, but has impeccable manners, never walks through you or come out her stable. She requires a confident rider to hold her hand and takes reassurance from her rider.

Poppy schools beautifully on the flat with the right person but it does take time to understand how she works, she’s certainly no pushbutton pony and doesn’t work like clockwork. She will pop a cross pole but jumping isnt her forte.

If you are looking for a showjumping / low level event pony, she is not for you, ideally we would like her to have a low level dressage / showing / pony racing home with a confident gutsy child that wants a quick, fun pony to whizz around with. Equally, she is a gem on the lead rein so wouldn’t mind her going to a smaller child, as long as an experienced home, or even a very small lightweight adult.

To load Poppy is an angel, she trots onto our 7.5 tonne every time, travels like a dream and will stand all day on or next to the box at shows with a haynet.

Poppy has previously been on a 2 week trial at a busy riding school who wished to try her but riding school life wasn’t for her, she needs her one special person to love her like we do and thrives off a routine.

While Poppy is perfect in our eyes, this is a very honest advert as she is quirky and understandably isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and it essential she finds the perfect forever home. Home is far more important than price, we would like her to go with her saddle that has been fitted to her, other tack / rugs / wardrobe available too. Long term lease also considered.

Please get in touch for more information, open to any vetting and as many viewing as you like, we can’t stress enough that home is of utmost importance!

Homes will be vetted and references required to ensure the most suitable forever home.

Aggie arrived into our care as a transfer from Ireland having been initially rescued as part of a welfare case.

She is a sweet natured mare with lots of potential as a childs ridden pony! She has been lightly backed before arriving at Blue Cross with a confident small rider.

Aggie is still settling in and is progressing in all aspects of her general handling. She still has some worries in new environments and with new people.

She will require a confident small rider to bring out her full potential as a childs riding pony.

£170

Bentley arrived into our care after his owner couldn’t care for him any longer due to personal circumstances, they decided he was best placed with Blue Cross to secure his future. He is currently based in a foster home awaiting his forever family.

He is an inquisitive young pony who would be looking for a home as a non-ridden companion due to being companion sound.

Bentley is still working on some basic handling so will require an experienced home to continue his training to be able to meet his routine care needs. He is still working on being comfortable enough to see the farrier.

He is happy to live out 24/7 or part stable with company. He has lived with mares and geldings and will thrive in a routine with a loving family.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

We are looking for a first pony for my granddaughter to learn the ropes on and have lots of fun with. We are ideally looking for a pony that we can take hacking. We keep our ponies on a lovely quiet DIY yard with lots of off road hacking and all year turnout( our own field with our other 2 mares).

We are open to any age or type but the pony needs to be good on the ground and enjoy being fussed/ brushed. We don't mind a pony that needs a little extra care but strictly no laminitis or ponies that need to stand in all summer, we like ponies to be ponies and spend time out grazing during winter and summer.

Happy to be in regular contact with owner and for visits anytime.

For sale Annadale SOS - 4 year old 12/13hh Welsh B.
Soudley Talisen x Daukester Popjoy

Brother is royal warrant who is a showjumping bronze league winner his sister is a top show hunter pony. Multiple of his brothers and sisters have competed and won at HOYS

Unfortunately Eddie is looking for a new home under no fault of his own, due to work commitments I don’t have the time to continue his education

Would love to have had this season with him but I just don’t have the time to put into him anymore

Eddie is the easiest pony I’ve ever had please don’t let his age put you off

I backed him by my self and he was super easy, no bucks rears etc

He’s the same if u ride him every day or once a week, there’s been times I’m away with work and he’s not been rode for a few weeks and I can get straight back on without even lunging him

He’s an angel to do in every way he will live out or in by him self or with company can clip, bath goes on walker etc no problem

His ridden work is coming along very nicely, walk and trot is lovely canter still needs some improvement but he’s getting there, will hack out and he has popped a few fences, he will be a lovely working hunter

He’s been to one x-pole competition where he came 5th.

I’ve never had any problems with him he has no lumps bumps or vices

Easy in the stable and very loving. Loves cuddles and kisses he’s like a big dog

I haven’t had the time to do as much as I would have liked with him unfortunately

Completely honest ad as he will only go the best home where he can further his education as he will go far in the right hands if the right home doesn’t come up he will stay with me as my pet but he’s far to good to be wasted

Up to date with everything vaccinations, worming etc and he’s currently barefoot

Can come with his full wardrobe including a fylde saddle

I absolutely love him to pieces will break my heart to see him go but he’s ready for someone to put their stamp on him and be a child’s best friend

I don’t have thousands of videos and pictures as I’ve done everything with him my self and don’t have anyone around to take them

Dads as the pony is known has been on loan for the past 12 years after a very high level show career he took to eventing in the most amazing way.

He and Phoebe were eventually competing at 110cm, time moves on and Phoebe is now competing her own home bred horses and we feel its time for Dads to step down a level. I have previously been offered serious money for him but I bred him and he is not for sale.

He looks amazing and more like 8 than 18 having always being looked after to the highest level, way too fit and well to retire.

This is not a pony for a weak or inexperienced rider, the pony is a toad and if there is one chink in your armour he will find it! No matter how talented you think your 11 year old child is this is not the pony for it.

If you are capable and a quiet rider this pony will give you 100%

Ideal person for him is someone who wants to do arena eventing and pony club stuff and eventing at 80 or 90 cm not someone who wants to show jump the legs off him, hunting would blow his mind. There is no reason why he hasnt got another 2 seasons of competition in him.

Nice opportunity for someone to still compete whilst either waiting for a youngster or their own pony injured.

Dads likes his stable and although enjoys a bit of out time in the field he soon gets bored.

He does crib bite at feed time something he has done for years with no ill effect.

Up to date with vaccinations and teeth done.

Just back in work after winter holiday.

If none of the above has put you off then please call me to discuss him.

References shall be required.
