Rodney has got to be one of the most consistent connemaras in the country.

He is very easy to do. He hacks, pops a fence, and does a bit of everything as well as having the most fantastic results, some of which include winning the Junior final at Equifest two years running and standing Champion in 2016, where he also won the Open final.

He has won the Summer Heritage final, the Wow Factor final and the Premier League finals at BSPS Summer Champs.

He won the Summer Heritage final at Bsps Champs again in 2017 and stood champion.

He has been to RIHS in the Open, Junior and Pretty Polly classes and has been a HOYS finalist twice.

He is always in the rosettes in the biggest of classes

Rodney knows his job inside and outside of the ring, he is very well schooled and gives a lovely ride, he has given Jess so much confidence and she has had so much fun!!!!

Only for sale as Jess is out of Junior large breed classes and needs to concentrate on her studies and work and he is too good not to be out competing at the very top.

10 star home is very much sought for this special and much loved pony.

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to advertise our gorgeous mare, Evie, for sale after 3 incredible years together, and are looking for a dressage (child or small adult) or pony club home for her.

Rhineen Eveen (Evie) is a beautiful grey mare age 10 years, 14.1hh. She is a registered Connemara and has shown with the Connemara Society as a youngster, winning at the Highland Show in hand.

Sire Glencarrig Prince
Dam Rineen Rebeleen

With us Evie has developed as a dressage pony and works at Elementary level at home. Our now 12 year old daughter has ridden Evie since she was just 9 years old and has qualified Evie for the British Dressage My Quest Regional finals later this month at Prelim and Novice levels. She has also qualified for the British Dressage Native Championships (later this month) at Prelim level.

Evie was 2nd in her arena with 69.9% and in the winning team at the Pony Club Area Dressage Finals in the Novice section qualifying for the Championships at Cholmondeley Castle.

Evie was placed 4th in the BYRDS Intro section at the My Quest Championships in 2016 and 11th in the Prelim section.

She scored 73% (1st place) in her most recent Prelim finishing her qualification for the Native Dressage Championships.

Evie enjoys jumping too (although her talent is for dressage) and we have done Hunter Trials, Arena Eventing and cross country. Evie has been to the last 3 Pony Club camps with our daughter and this year with a 19 year old Junior Instructor (who had sold her own horse to go to University) who described Evie as a “dream pony”. She is forward going and responsive to the leg but equally coped with our daughter when she was younger and not as strong and balanced. Evie has never bucked, reared or bolted with us. She has no vices and hacks alone and in company but can be nervous with cars and larger vehicles.

Evie loves to be cuddled and groomed/bathed and I leave this all to our daughter as Evie is so well behaved. She is great to load, tack up, shoe, catch, turn out and bring in (alone or in pairs) and she stands perfectly on the lorry at shows (alone or with another horse). She has been used as a travel companion for my big horse and is not fazed by another horse panicking in the lorry.

Evie has plenty of miles left in her and she is very trainable. She had been turned away when we bought her as her owner was unwell so has come a long way in the time we have owned her. She is ready to start to learn a change to move up the levels with her new rider. We have kept her away from competing above Novice level and above at British Dressage to allow Olivia to compete at Novice level with the Pony Club. Very sadly outgrown by an exceptionally tall 12 year old.

Olivia has a long day at school and so I ride Evie 2 days each week. She would alternatively suit a small adult wanting a really lovely, safe, Native pony for dressage.

Rules for Showing

Prospective purchasers of Connemara ponies should be aware that under BCPS Rules for showing – ‘No Connemara exceeding 148cm may be shown or take part in any competition restricted to Connemara or Registered Mountain and Moorland ponies within the jurisdiction of the BCPS.’

‘Where it is reported to the Society that this may have occurred then the Society may require the animal to be measured or re-measured in accordance with the Rules of the Joint Measurement Scheme -

The penalty for the contravention of the above Rule may be cancellation of the registration of the animal concerned

They should also realise that both the Irish and British Connemara Societies register ponies under a classification system. Briefly, all foals are registered as Class 3. Adult ponies (2 years and over) – Stallions and Mares – are registered in Class 1 if they pass a visual and Veterinary inspection, and as Class 2 if they fail the visual, but pass the Vet, or are over or under height, or blue eyed creams, and as Class 3 if they fail the Vet or have not been inspected

The progeny of Class 3 ponies remain in Class 3 and cannot be upgraded
