One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

Looking to loan or potentially purchase a 17hh and a 14.2-15-2hh equine for use at the RDA National Training Centre in Warwickshire. Will be used for RDA sessions, hacks, training days, competitions and commercial activity. Must be sane with a good trainable temperament and able to pass a minimum of a two-stage vetting. At RDA NTC equine welfare is our top priority with equines having a varied lifestyle, regular visits from healthcare professionals with loan agreements in place where applicable.

Always good to handle and look after. Loves a bottom scratch! Good to load, farrier, clip, catch etc.

Rides well in the school and will easily ride in a nice outline/contact if asked. Responsive without being sharp - he goes when asked and stops when asked. Snaffle mouth and not silly or fizzy.

Loves jumping and is bold and brave. Schooled around 80/90 with ease and always willing. We’ve done a few arena hires - both show jumping and arena eventing so he’s more than ready to get out to competitions & Pony Club. Would love to see him out competing & doing some showjumping, PC eventing/Hunter trials but he’s equally as happy playing around at home!

Hacks out sensibly and good in traffic. Can sometimes need reassurance leaving the yard and tries to come back home but once out he is fine and when hacked regularly he is fine too - just needs to get used to the routine!

Would love a competent, second pony rider that wants to enjoy him as he really is a cool pony!

Blue - 12.2h 8yo gelding. Stunning Blagdon colour, lots of mane & feather, correct conformation & lovely forward paces - show ring potential!

Blue is a lovely, friendly little pony. Good to handle, groom, pick out his feet, catch, load etc etc.

Professionally broken and schooled - he will ride in an outline if asked. Easy off the leg, nicely responsive and forward without being strong, pulley or whizzy. He is always ridden in a snaffle and always well behaved - doesn’t buck, rear or nap. Enjoys his schooling, pole work, loves to jump and great to hack.

Jumps around 60/65cm with us and is so willing so I’m sure he’ll do more if asked. Not fazed by fillers or logs over the woods etc.

Suitable for a competent novice upwards - a balanced rider that is ready to progress off a first pony and step up a gear would be ideal. He enjoys his work so would love a rider that is ready to get out and enjoy him - shows, hacking etc etc.

My beautiful little lady is looking for her forever home, she has had a hard life before I found her, so finding the perfect home and person is extremely important to me and I’m in no rush at all. Homes will be vetted and I will not sell her unseen so please don’t ask.

I am looking for a kind and loving person who is offering a forever home where she can be a companion and a pet, I am not selling her as a ridden horse due to her past, I am happy to go into detail.

She is 12hh, passported, microchipped, vaccinated, up to date with worming, teeth and farrier.

She is barefoot. Good to handle, will live in or out, comes to call, absolutely loves a fuss and is a very affectionate little lady. She has lived in all winter and is very polite to handle.

She is wary of men and needs a patient farrier but she is getting better with every trim and growing in confidence, she just needs to continue to have positive experiences and she will be fine with a little more time.

She currently turns out with another mare and is the type that would get along with most horses with no drama. Shes happy to come in on her own and is quite happy in a stable on her own.

Finding her the right home is more important than price, but as said above homes will be vetted and I am in no rush, she will only leave me when I have found her perfect person and home. She is for sale only, sorry no loans.
