Good Recovery is an exceptionally exciting 5-year-old Irish Sport Horse who combines everything you could hope to find in a young horse – quality, movement, scope, conformation, trainability and, most importantly, an outstanding temperament.
Standing approximately 17hh, he is a big, impressive and beautifully put-together horse with excellent conformation and super feet, yet he genuinely rides like something considerably smaller. He is incredibly light, balanced and easy underneath you and gives his rider a wonderful feeling.
Without question, he is one of the comfiest horses you could ever sit on. He has three super, naturally uphill, even paces, with a lovely rhythm and balance. For a horse of only five, his schooling and rideability are remarkable – he feels and rides well beyond his years and is always ridden in a snaffle.
What makes Good Recovery particularly special is that all this ability comes with an exceptional brain. He is uncomplicated, willing and forgiving and has been absolutely perfect with everything we have asked of him. He is the sort who can give a good rider a seriously exciting horse to produce, while being straightforward and genuine enough to accommodate a wide variety of riders.
Proven Quality
Good Recovery already has an impressive foundation to his career in Ireland.
As a four-year-old he was produced and shown in Ireland, including an appearance at the 2025 Dublin Horse Show. As a five-year-old he has continued his education through performance-horse and young-event-horse classes, including a Balmoral 5yo Performance Horse qualifier and the YES! Young Eventhorse Series.
That education really shows. He has seen plenty for his age and approaches his work with the maturity and confidence of a horse considerably older.
Jumping & XC
He has a scopey, athletic jump and makes a lovely shape over a fence. He is brave, genuine and willing while remaining light, rideable and adjustable.
Across country he gives you exactly the feeling you want from a future event horse – forward-thinking, confident and genuine, with the scope and athleticism to progress through the levels.
He isn't simply a horse with a big jump; importantly, he has the brain and rideability to go with the ability.
Breeding
Good Recovery is by Future Trend, with the dam line bringing in the Thoroughbred influence of Barely A Moment, giving him an attractive combination of sport-horse quality and blood.
It is easy to see that breeding coming through in him: size and substance without heaviness, excellent conformation, quality movement, athleticism and plenty of presence.
An Exceptional Temperament
Possibly his greatest attribute is simply what a lovely person he is.
He is an incredibly gentle, affectionate horse who loves being fussed over and is an absolute pleasure to have around. He has lovely manners and is excellent to handle.
He is good to wash and bath, brush and groom, and good with the farrier/to shoe. He has super feet and is vice-free.
He has been excellent with everything we have asked of him and takes new experiences in his stride.
Despite standing 17hh, there is absolutely nothing cumbersome or strong about him. He is light in the hand, responsive without being sharp and exceptionally comfortable. You very quickly forget you're sitting on such a big horse.
Good Recovery has all the attributes to make a top-class event horse, working hunter or seriously smart all-round competition horse. Equally, his exceptional temperament and rideability mean he doesn't need to go to a professional rider to be enjoyed.
He is that incredibly difficult combination to find: a quality young horse with serious ability and presence, yet with a kind, genuine temperament that makes you want to ride him every day.
