Pandora “Penny” — 16.3hh, 7-year-old KWPN mare

Penny is a beautiful, quality KWPN mare with three lovely paces, a super attitude to work and a genuine desire to learn. She has been carefully and sympathetically produced with her long-term future in mind and is now looking for a knowledgeable, competitive home where her potential can really be maximised.

Imported from Holland as a 3-year-old, Penny was originally purchased with eventing in mind. She has been produced slowly and correctly, particularly as she arrived as a big, weak-framed youngster, and I have always been conscious of giving her the time to mature and strengthen.

She has competed successfully in unaffiliated dressage and British Dressage (sadly lack of time this season due to eventing commitments has been mainly unaffiliated) from Prelim through to Novice, consistently receiving lovely comments from judges. Most recently, she won a Novice Championship class, demonstrating her potential and trainability.

Penny has also gained experience in eventing, including a one-day event, as well as several show jumping outings. While I feel her strengths are better suited to dressage than progressing as an event horse, I genuinely believe she has the movement and attitude to excel as a dressage horse.

She is a correct and attractive mover, with three quality paces and plenty of scope for further development in the right hands.

Away from competition, Penny is equally straightforward. She hacks alone or in company and is accustomed to all manner of traffic, including tractors, buses and trains. She is good to clip, shoe, load and handle and has always been ridden and handled by a 5’2” rider. She is currently ridden in a snaffle.

Most importantly, Penny has a wonderful personality. She is kind, affectionate and genuinely enjoys her work. She is intelligent, willing and loves learning new things.

This is a very sad sale, and one I have not taken lightly. However, with limited time for her due to eventing this season, I feel it is only fair to find Penny a home where she can get out, compete and continue progressing and be someone’s main priority

Imported from Germany in 2023 after weaning. Diego is very well handled daily; he confidently can be led around our busy farm, with cows, sheep, pigs, dogs and tractors. He is stabled at night, has been rugged during cooler weather and has daily grooming. He has had the very best in time and care, vaccinations, farrier, worming etc. Diego is a quick learner and has shown a genuine willingness with his training.

Diego has spent the summer months at Morris&Smith Young Horse Specialists, he has had an excellent groundwork education, daily long-reining and been lightly backed. He is now ready for someone to carry on with and make him their own.

Diego has three extremely expressive, elevated, athletic and uphill paces. He has excellent conformation allowing him to be very well balanced and powerful with his active hind leg. He has inherited all the qualities and attributes required for the higher levels from both lines of his pedigree.

His Sire Despacito caught the interest of breeders very early on in his career with his stunning appearance and great pedigree. With the clear victory in the Hanoverian Championships in Verden with the dream grade 8.8 and the subsequent win of the silver medal at the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf, he put himself in the spotlight for breeders. As the son of the impressive Don Nobless, out of a dam by Sandro Hit-De Niro-Ehrentusch, his genetics leave nothing to be desired. His love for work and his extremely pleasant nature completes the picture of a stallion, who raises many expectations.

Grand Sire - Don Nobless competed at the Bundeschampionat as a five-year-old, and he is now successful at international grand prix under Susan Pape; winning his first grand prix special in January 2017 and since picking up a host of placings at the level with scores over 70% and making his first Nations Cup appearance at the CHIO in Rotterdam. His grand-sire Dancier was champion of the 2004 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden and the 2005 stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf.

Dam Sire - Quaterback. A stallion that seems like he could only come from another planet - with his light-footed, brilliant movement and perfect cadence, all eyes become riveted on Quaterback when he appears.

He was the radiant Bundeschampion of the three-year-old riding horses in 2006 with the highest scores for his trot and canter. The test riders in Warendorf even gave him this dream score of 10.0. Prior to this test, he had won several tests for young riding horses. He was also the winner of his 30-day test with a final score of 9.14 in dressage, an 8.43 for jumping and an overall score of 8.88. As if it were not enough to have unbelievably dynamic movement, he was also blessed with an outstanding type. Quaterback comes from one of the most successful mare lines of modern day. His dam Passionata is a half-sister of the unforgettable World Champion and double Bundeschampion, Poetin. Her full brothers Samba Hit I to IV put on convincing presentations at the Bundeschampionate. Quaterback's successful advanced (S) level sire Quaterman also participated in several Bundeschampionats and is deemed one of the best sires for passing on good movements in the new German States.

Quaterback in the end excelled as a performance producer, he passes his big and fleet-footed movement to his offspring, and therefore has produced a lot of foal champions and auction foals.

Diego has definitely inherited the ‘Wow Factor’ from his relatives and to top it all is a gorgeous boy, both inside and out. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire such a truly exceptional rising 4 year old, who is ready to finish and ride away.

Sire

His sire Bonds began his career as an Oldenburg Champion Stallion. Majestic appearance, highly modern and brilliant type, outstanding movements, perfect self-carriage. Bonds well overtopped the high-quality Oldenburg licensing year in Vechta and was frenetically celebrated as victory-stallion. He won both his sport tests with dream scores (10 for canter, 9.5 for rideability) and won a series of competitions for young dressage horses. Trained by Beatrice Hoffrogge, he has since made a successful debut at high level. Over 20 of his sons have been licensed. His father Benicio advanced under Anna Sophie Fiebelkorn to the National Champion of dressage horses in 2011. He obtained the mark 10.0 for walk and trot, 9.5 for overall expression and 9.0 for his canter. He completed his 30-days-test in Schlieckau ten times scoring the maximum score of 10.0. The final mark with emphasis on dressage was 9.88 and herewith he even ranked ahead of his father Belissimo M NRW's record valuation. Meanwhile he was able to celebrate victories up to Inter ll level. Benicia remains a top dressage sire in the Hanoverian Verband Directory, a proven Dressage Sire and a Breeder's choice for Rideability and Athleticism. 'Rideability. character, temperament and willingness to perform are the sought-after attributes that Benicio passes on just as much as his Sire Belissimo.'

Dam Sire

For Romance is the epitome of a modern sire, and is from a very successful dam line that has had great success. Blessed with three excellent gaits, his canter and trot can only be described with superlatives, and his character is also noteworthy. He stood out brilliantly in the strong lot of stallions at the 2011 Oldenburg Verband licensing and the enthusiastic spectators in Vechta gave him standing ovations. Having been pronounced Champion Stallion of his licensing in 2011, For Romance did not disappoint during his 30-day test in Schlieckau, passing with super scores. He received a 9.25 for his trot and rideability, a 9.0 for his canter and an 8.88 for character.

Bonds Boy is gorgeous inside and out. Excellent conformation, type, uphill, elevated movement and active hind leg. A rare opportunity to acquire such an amazing youngster, from world class breed lines.

Nic was imported as a 3 year old and lives at home with his mini companion , 4 dogs and me. Now aged 8 , he is maturing into a very attractive , capable, easy to train young horse, who doesn’t need to be worked every day. He is admired by all, both in and out of the arena, is BD registered and has lightly competed due to lack of time, and has accumulated 113 pts to date.

Nic has 3 correct paces and is developing strength of stride through his training with a kind , sympathetic rider.
