Luna is a beautiful, quality, 16hh 7 year old green book dapple grey ID who is looking for a new home as a happy hack either now or next spring/early summer. Currently out at grass being wintered off - the price will go up when I've brought her back into work in the spring. She would suit someone who:

• Wants a smart, forward but safe hack
• Is not bothered about schooling/jumping/competing
• Is not a novice - maybe an experienced mature rider now looking for a quieter life
• Loves Irish Draughts but has a limited budget that might otherwise prevent them from finding the kind of quality ID they're looking for
• Is happy to bring her back into work over the winter themselves (if she goes now)
• OR someone who would like to use her as a broodmare

I bought Luna in August 19 as a six year old to bring on as a show horse/all-rounder but as her work increased she started to show subtle signs of pain which, after months of investigations, turned out to be due to cartilage damage in her stifle which will prevent her from doing the job I bought her for, but won't prevent her having a long and happy life as a hack. This is not what I want to do, and can't afford two horses, so she has been stamped for loss of use and is looking for a new owner who will give her the right kind of life. She is now completely sound following surgery and rest, and should remain sound without any further interventions as long as she is not asked to do too much. If she were to go back into serious schooling/jumping work she would most likely go lame again, so it's important that whoever takes her on understands this. From a veterinary perspective, she's ready to start being ridden again now, if your facilities allow it (mine don't through the winter) so obviously she can't be tried now, and it would mean you bringing her back into work yourself, but she won't pose any problem.

She is a beautiful mare inside and out and will make someone a super smart, forward going hack. She is not a kick-along and therefore not for a beginner. But she is safe, sensible, responsive, interested and bold through water/gates etc. She will go first or last, is not spooky, doesn't mind the heaviest of traffic and is 100% to load and travel (box or trailer). I have lots of photos and videos from the few months that I was riding her before I decided to investigate for low grade lameness. It is testament to her temperament that, unbeknownst to me at the time, she had grade four ulcers as well as stifle pain, but yet she never put a foot wrong out hacking. Recent vet reports and character references (for her!) available.

She would also breed a lovely foal (did have a foal in Ireland - we don't know any details, just that she has clearly borne a foal.)

She is as honest as they come and would be a wonderful new best friend for someone to explore the countryside together for many years to come. If I don't find her perfect partner now I'll wait and restart her in the spring as planned, but just thought I'd put it out there in case the right person is out there waiting. Someone who understands that a horse like this, who's been thoroughly investigated by some of the best vets in the country and has had her one problem located and treated, can actually be a safer bet than a supposedly sound horse who can actually have all sorts of problems lurking, just waiting to be discovered! (Case in point: Luna passed 2 x 5 stage vettings in the 3 months before I bought her, even though she had this stifle issue. Food for thought!)

Lots more photos and videos available - please whatsapp me.
