DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Looking for a new home - This is my mums horse and sadly due to work commitments we are needing to reduce the amount of horses

Beautiful mare, 9 years old, 14.3HH (150cm) Welsh D-X,

Nala loves a fuss/ grooming and is very affectionate

Nala is very low mileage so she is extremely clean limbed and straight moving, never needed vet treatment and is super easy in all ways

Nala loves hacking and is lightly schooled she is very good at pole work, she has previously done dressage

Never hot after time off, stands at the block to get on. While she is very good she is still forward going so we are looking for an experienced home.

In general is a very nice horse to have on the yard, good for the farrier, to catch, load and travel.

Nala currently lives out at night and would normally live in at night during the winter.

Please all share as it’s very important to find the perfect home for our lovely Nala

Barefoot

Passported and microchipped

He is a true leg at each corner! He is great fun and very much enjoys having a job. He is very low mileage and green for his age as he was a pet and companion before coming to me.

He has been professionally broken and ridden away by myself and is now ready to find his forever home.

He has been started slowly and correctly and is a very honest and genuine horse to work with, he is great fun and I think he would very much enjoy getting out and about once he is fitter. He is green for his age so I am looking for an experienced home to continue his education , no novices please.

He happily lives in or out, is very well mannered and good to do.

He is working well in walk, trot and canter and over poles. He will happily pop a jump and has plenty of scope. Once he is fitter he will make a fantastic allrounder, someone is definitely going to be very lucky to call him their new best friend! And he will be sorely missed.

Forever homes only please, no novices, no loans, no payment plans.

Serious enquiries only please.

I will not sell him unseen and would prefer him to find a home with a few hours of us.

Based East Riding of Yorkshire

Messages preferred please as I am very busy right now, if I feel you potentially might be the right match/home for him calls can be scheduled

WANTED 13.2HH - 14.2HH happy hacker to be my best friend. Something quiet and easy. I have ridden all my life but no longer wish to find myself on the floor or galloping off into the distance!

We can offer an experienced home for life with our other family ponies. We dont need a competition pony or anything really young and no greys. Based in Suffolk.

The hardest decision.

Our beautiful young gelding, Bear.

The kindest, most willing pony, would honestly make the best pony for a young rider.

He is SAFE, nothing phases him, good to clip, farrier, lives in or out, can go out with mares or geldings, never sick or sorry. The is a big dog, that will follow you around the field, knocking over the barrow.

He will stand all day to be groomed, showered, cuddled. He is the most loving special boy.

Stands at 12’3 and is rising 4. He is bum high and I expect him to grow a little more, with lots of filling out left to do.

Has been in professionally, but lightly backed this summer.

It’s clear he will go on to make the most amazing show pony & from the way he’s been in the field, I’m sure he will go on to LOVE jumping, but obviously I haven’t treated that due to age.

He will happily take young children for a pony ride, or will take a young rider, he is confident in all 3 paces. He will happily hack out, and is safe! Not spooky or scared.

The only small but is his age, he is rising 4, so still green and still learning (but very willing) he would be the perfect pony for someone who wants to bring him on.

He is the apple of our eye and only want the best most loving home for him.

Samson is home grown from our bay Welsh C and a driving cob. We have let him be a youngster and enjoy his early years, asking little of him.

It is now time for him to begin his education.

He has been lightly backed by my teenage daughter. He has hacked out, enjoyed beech rides, and had the odd arena/school session.

He is by no means a first ridden pony, he is very green and he needs schooling.

Up to date with farrier, vaccinations and dentist.

Has mild SI controlled over summer with fly spray, fly rug and ointment.

Would do very well in the show ring.

Sold without tack.

Connie - 13.2 black cob mare with 4 matching whites and a stripe.
8yo absolute chunk of a mare! Leg in each corner but also moves well. She isn’t actually hip bustingly wide. Just a really solid mare and in perfect condition!
Green. Late starter. Looks like she has had some foals looking at her teats.

Extremely willing. Absolutely unflappable from a riders point of view. You can run at her in the barn and vault on and do round the world without having to hold her (I have a video of this)

She’s hacking really nicely but will have a snort at things. Things like the wall going over a bridge. Or someone’s decorative driveway rocks. Has so far been great with our tractors on the farm and the odd few cars and tractors I manage to find out hacking. Hasn’t batted an eyelid. Will stand in any gateway and wait for cars and machinery to pass.  Snorts at the cows but with forwards riding actually rode through our herd and moved them around.

Done a little arena work, will walk trot and canter around and has started poles and small jumps.
Just starting to take a contact and has a super soft mouth.

Absolutely perfect brakes. She’s forward and enjoys her work but by no means is this mare a speed machine! It took all of my energy to canter her all the way up the hill to the top in the field even on the way home. But she has a jolly walk and can fall into a jog down the hill going for a hack. Immediately goes back to a walk on the buckle when asked.

She’s going to be an absolute saint of a cob! And she goes literally anywhere you ask her! We’ve been all over the place. Ditches. Steps and climbs over big fallen trees. Through undergrowth. Even rode her round an offroad scrambling course. Doesn’t mind branches wacking you or her or branches half decapitaing you off of the top ?????
Goes down into the river and paddles.
East to handle. She catches you in the field.

Passported but zero history - but I can assure you this mare hasn’t ever had a bad days experience. Shes very very happy around all humans, dogs, vehicles etc.
Sound. Healthy. Will have her first jab before she leaves me. And her feet trimmed. Feet are absolutely solid as a rock, this mare would never need shoes!
Doesn’t come with anything although I have a couple of tiny wide saddles that could go as a ‘meanwhile’ saddle for her.

I have onboard videos of her and I out in all sorts of crazy hacking places. And her in the arena being asked for the first time to do arena work.
Apart from it taking half an arena of kicking to get canter, she was a total saint!

All viewings vettings etc welcome.

  • FUN…she just wants to be out and about doing it all.

14.2hh - 5 year old - Cob - Mare

Loves to jump! Forward going and thinking cob that knows her job & loves to work. She can get strong so not a novice child pony.

She has done pony club camp, hunted with multiple local hunts, schooling up to 90 at home, qualified for sunshine tour at 70. Will give everything a go on the X country field. Has had lovely feedback at local shows. She behaves impeccably when out and about, easy to take out solo. She can be ridden everyday or once a week and she will come out the same.

Hacks alone or in company, has also made a lovely lead for a child on lead rein. Solid in heavy traffic.

Will go all day long. We think she would best suit a hunting family or would make a lovely allrounder with a focus on jumping.

I bought her to get me back in the saddle after 20 years of not riding and to give me confidence which she has given me in spades. I have now decided to concentrate on flatwork & showing so she is utterly wasted & she is far too good to not be out and about having fun with someone. She is currently ridden by a friend. As you can see in the photos and videos she has been and is ridden by multiple people.

She travels in a trailer or lorry & can basically load herself. Her only vice is she is a little nervous around a new farrier and will need time to get used to them.

Open to any vetting. Viewings available on Fridays or Saturdays only due to work commitments. So many photos and videos available please just ask.

One for the future not to be missed.

The lovely Ivy is a 5 year old Tgca registered (overstamped in passport) coloured mare standing at 14.2 to make 15hh

Ivy was professionally backed last year and turned away for the winter She was brought back into work earlier this year and was sent to be professionally schooled for a few weeks where she excelled.

She has matured nicely and she has 3 lovely paces. She hacks out alone and in company and is happy to go first or last

She is not your typical ploddy cob she has abit more go in her and she would make a smart alrounder/dressage/show horse.

This horse turns heads and has tonnes of feathers.

Easy to do in every way. She happily lives in or out, good to catch, great for the farrier, good to load. Ivy is well built and well put together with nice bone and clean legs.

She has been tested negative for Pssm1 so would also be good for breeding.

Looking for 5* home. no novices as she is still young and has lots of potential to be realised

Molly , 14.3hh 4 year old blagdon cob mare. Super stamp , potential riding club / riding school / mother daughter share type.

Molly is confidently hacking alone and in company , she’s been good in all traffic down the busy high street. Her schooling is still green but improving with every ride , she has popped a couple of fences and has a willing attitude. She rides in a nice soft contact , although still green we feel she has potential to do a nice dressage test.

Molly has been straightforward and easy to do in all ways. She has been ridden and handled by children. Easy to catch , load , travel , bath etc , and had her feet trimmed today with no issues.

We feel someone will have a real best friend in Molly ! She has no vices or quirks , ready for someone to put their stamp on.
