Lily Ballerina is a beautiful homebred 6-year-old, 16.2hh chestnut mare by Arko, out of Cara Ballerina, who jumped successfully up to 1.40m.

Lily really is a rare type to find. She is exceptionally kind, genuine and forgiving, with the sort of temperament that makes horses like her incredibly hard to replace.

She is currently jumping British Showjumping Discoveries and has also been cross-country schooling. She is straightforward to a fence, will happily take a miss and help her rider out, and isn’t the sort that needs everything to be perfect.

She would be ideal for an amateur, young rider, mum or family wanting a quality horse to enjoy across a range of disciplines. She could happily showjump, do clinics, cross-country, hacking, riding club and general all-round activities.

Although she is athletic and has plenty of blood, she is not sharp or difficult. She is the sort of horse you can pick up and put down, rather than one that needs riding every day to keep her manageable.

She is extremely easy to have around the yard and is very good to clip, handle and generally do everything with.

Lily has had a five-stage vetting. The only minor point identified was a congenital/birth cataract. We were advised that this should not develop any further and was not expected to cause her any problems. We are completely open about this and are happy for any prospective lessee to discuss it further or have their own vet assess her.

We bred Lily ourselves at McCashway Stud, so her full history is known.

She is available on a long-term lease at £4,000 per annum to the right home. The priority is finding someone who will appreciate what a genuinely lovely, uncomplicated mare she is and give her a first-class home.

Bay 17hh (approx) 6 year old mare bred at the amazing Castell Sports Horses stud by Jagger x Cobra. A big, blood, athletic model.

She has a huge scopey careful jump and is very bold and brave. She takes a rider to a fence without being a buzzy sensitive type. Jumped double clears upto fox and is schooling bigger at home. She has qualified for discovery and newcomers second rounds 2027. She won 3 discovery first round classes proving to be really competitive.

We have taken her XC schooling for the first time this week. She jumped everything first time with no hesitation, including ditches, steps, corners and the water. She really enjoyed this and has great potential for a career in eventing.

Up to date with physio, teeth, vaccinations, shoes etc. Not suitable for a novice as can be a little bolshy on the ground but nothing a confident amateur couldn’t manage.

“Martlet Speechless”, known at home as Cheetah, is a very exciting 7-year-old, 16.2hh gelding with the athleticism, scope and attitude to develop into a genuinely competitive horse. Home-bred in Co. Wexford, he was backed at four and has been produced slowly, allowing him time to strengthen, mature and understand his work. He is mannerly and straightforward on the ground and, under saddle, is intelligent, willing and exceptionally trainable. He learns quickly, retains his work and continues to progress whenever asked a new question. Cheetah has plenty of scope, is naturally careful and shows good athleticism and footwork. At this stage, 1.20m feels comfortably within his capabilities, with every indication that there is more to come. 

He has been introduced to water and smaller cross-country fences, proving genuine and willing, and is ready to continue his XC education. On the flat, he is developing a consistent, correct outline with improving balance, rhythm, transitions and responsiveness on both reins. He is schooled in a snaffle. He hacks happily alone or in company and is sensible in a busy yard environment. His pedigree is equally encouraging. His dam’s sire, Furisto, produced horses competing at the highest levels of showjumping and eventing, while his sire, King Cheetah, has offspring competing up to 1.50m showjumping and three-star eventing. Cheetah would suit an experienced rider looking for a quality young horse to produce through the levels. He is not a novice ride, but in the right hands we believe there is considerable potential. Bambi is incredibly well schooled, she rides entirely off the seat & leg meaning that whatever she can do with a bridle, she can also do without! She is always ridden in a snaffle.

To jump she is absolutely phenomenal. She is incredibly careful, stays in a lovely rhythm, doesn’t rush to a jump and will happily take a miss.

She has trained around 1.20 courses but is most comfortable & competitive up to 1.10 - we always come away with frillies at shows!

Quick in a jump off when asked - I’ve had lots of fun with some crazy turns and she always takes it in her stride and locks onto the next jump.

She hasn’t been out recently as I’m struggling to find time to ride her.

Brilliant feet, (shod in front, barefoot behind) could easily go barefoot in front.

Good to clip, shoe, load, dentist etc. Very laidback to handle around the yard - leads in without a headcollar, gets ridden out to the field bareback. Lives in a mixed herd.

Perfect to hack alone or in company in all traffic (we hack on a lorry road), always on the buckle and the confidence giver for other horses on a hack.

Never been lame, sick or sorry.

Bambi is not suitable for a nervous rider. She is perfectly relaxed and easy to ride for a confident rider, however she can pick up on a rider’s nerves and become tense.

Like most horses she does have a few small quirks, but nothing major and all are completely manageable. I’m more than happy to be completely honest and open about her and explain them properly to anyone interested, so please just get in touch if you’d like to know more!
