Silveroak Farmers Gold, stable name Louis is a striking chestnut Irish Draught yearling colt with a blaze, white socks and a beautiful flaxen mane and tail. He is offered only to the very best of homes.

Louis is exceptionally people-oriented and a joy to have around. He is very well handled, but not over spoiled, he picks up all four feet happily, is calm and sensible to deal with, and is always the first to come to you in the field. He is super friendly, easy-going in a herd, and has a quiet, confident nature well beyond his years.

Louis has excellent conformation, very good bone, and a stunning, kind head. He carries himself with real presence, making him a fabulous future show horse, while his correct, balanced paces are more than good enough for both the show ring and dressage. He is a genuine all-round prospect with the versatility that Irish Draughts are renowned for.

Louis’ Sire is the beautiful Class 1 Stallion Macs Silver. Known for his quality both in the UK and Ireland, Macs is a first class stallion who has fantastic jumping ability, correctness and typiness with excellent conformation. He is a very good example of the breed. Both sire and dam are old-fashioned, traditional Irish Draughts with the temperament and substance the breed was originally valued for. His dam is also a very good mare, she is exceptionally sensible and easy mare — the sort you can do anything with — and his sire is very much the same. They are both proper, true Irish Draughts in type, mind and outlook. Both his Sire and Dam are 15.2hh. It looks like Louis may be bigger than his parents, but it is impossible to guarantee a height at this stage. I would say he would mature somwwhere between 15.2 and 16.2hh.

This colt has been bred at Silveroak Stud, where we are experienced breeders of Irish Draught horses, with a number of top-quality stallions and broodmares. Our focus is firmly on the traditional type of Draught — a safe, sane, sound horse with presence and quality, suitable for showing, competition, and as a genuine family horse to be enjoyed by all. We specialise in the smaller more traditional type of Irish Draught and strive to breed sensible, top quality horses.

Louis is up to date with worming and his feeding regime is carefully monitored to ensure healthy growth, but not a pushed over growth. He is currently looking very scruffy in his winter coat and it’s a job to keep him and his stable mate Jacks coats looking clean! So you would definitely be seeing Louis right now in his ‘work clothes’. However a true swan will appear from under the woolly exterior as his spring coat arrives. And if you are a first time foal owner don’t worry as we are always here for help and advice as our foals grow up.

Louis is only available because we cannot keep them all. This is a colt we truly adore, and he will only be sold to an exceptional, knowledgeable home where he will be cherished and kept for life. His future matters greatly to us, and finding the right person is far more important than a quick sale.

Viewings welcome from genuinely interested parties, and we are happy to answer any questions you have. We are also happy to support any new owner with help and advice as your yearling matures as I appreciate it can be a daunting prospect taking on a young horse.

This is Lilly, a mare bread by myself (07/05/2023)
Stallion: golden euro
Mare: princess poppy Anne of Ivy grange (aka kooiiee)
If Lilly ends up anything like kooiiee she will be top of her field, and with the right family I think she will blossom into an amazing mare!
She is brought up regularly for grooming and fussing and will happily stand there all day. She’s turned out with my other 2 mares and is very well behaved she doesn’t break through fencing or rip any rugs, she’s also happy to live indoors but she’s kept out (24/7) she has had rugs on however she’s kept nude as she is quite a warm horse.
She’s amazing to catch and is infact the first one to me every time, she’s amazing to lead is respectful of your space and will follow you found everywhere.
She’s good with the farrier, dentist and vet.
She’s okay to load but could do with a little more work (but I am still working on this) she’s been out to few local shows and has always behaved amazingly, stands quietly in line ups even when horses & ponies have been acting silly around her.
She’s been tacked up and walked round and that’s about it, she’s been on hacks as a lead rein while I’ve ridden another horse.
I do honestly believe she will go very far in her education with the right owners.

Her mum (who I still own) has accomplished so much, we have done successful eventing, showjumping, hunter trials, hunting, showing, dressage and driving!
She’s won supreme championships at stay away showing, she’s consistently in the top 3 out showjumping, and has won countless dressage championships, and is a weapon out on the cross country field.
I do however believe Lilly would excel in a showing career!
She will only go to a 5 star home, I do not want her passing around and if ever circumstances changed I would be honoured to have first refusal, I’m only selling her as I don’t have the time, and she’s just not quite made the height I was hoping for.
