Richard & Daisy Trayford have been been producing horses together for over two decades - in the UK & USA(Exmoor Eventing) and in Ireland where we live. We are now assisting international buyers during their search for quality Irish horses.

More & more buyers and sellers are doing business online - having us, based in the centre of Ireland, gives buyers a speedy and cost effective way of getting to a prospect quickly.

We charge a flat fee ie no commission is taken from either the buyer or seller. We simply represent the buyer who may not be able to try the horse themselves due to work/time/travel constraints.
Our clients get a great service from us for a very modest fee - €200 covers us visiting a yard (no extra if we see multiple horses at one location!) - we take extensive video, try the horse(s) and complete a detailed, unbiased report, which is sent to the potential buyer. We can attend a vetting as well if the client choses.

Our mission is to take any perceived risk out of horse shopping online!

Once the client receives satisfactory feedback on a horse or horses they are welcome to either proceed to an offer -we can even do that on their behalf if they prefer -and/or visit the horse themselves.

Daisy Trayford is a well known 4* competitor on the Eventing circuit in the UK, USA and Ireland. She takes pride in sourcing and producing Eventers and has had horses go on to 5* careers in the UK, USA and Ireland - she also coached Madonna for 6 years! Richard has run Eventing Competitions to FEI 4* level in the USA and they have hunted with over 50 hunts together - they even competed in the famous Golden Button race twice! Together, they have helped clients in three continents find great horses.

So, have a look online, or call around and when you find something that you like the sound of, let us know and we can get there right away - if you need help finding candidates we can help with that too!

Happy hunting

Richard & Daisy

His a good looking chap with a real leg in each corner he takes up leg well ! He isn’t heavy his quiet sporty for his type you could take his feathers off if you wish to give him an even more sporty look.

He will take absolutely anyone to ride from your granma to a novice to someone more thrill seeking.

He is not lazy nice and forward without been silly buzzy or sharp.

Snaffle mouthed he hasn’t done huge amounts of schooling but is balanced and walk trot canter transitions are great he could work abit rounder.

We took him Arena eventing schooling SJ & XC he skipped round like he had lived there all his life !! He is so straightforward it’s untrue !!

In Ireland he was with a family I know, where he hunted occasionally over the past season been used for any member of the family old or young to go out and join in with the local hunt, Around this he has been used as a leisure horse for the family hacking mainly and do forest rides etc..

He is just a total dude he hacks alone or company.

Does everything with a smile on his face lovely to be around. Easy to handle needs a best friend to shine and come out in more personality.

Recently taken him out with the ready field blood hounds and he was amzing didn’t got up was in a snaffle all day enjoyable but not strong or silly jumped well waited quad stood like a rock.

May is a lovely non mareish mare who happily in or out.

To ride:
We are not selling May as a riding horse but she can be ridden. She is a forward going mare who you can have lots of fun on. However, in the summer she can headshake. We have gone down every route for her but cannot seem to help her get much better. Some days she would go with the odd shake, other days she would get really wound up and paw at the ground. She has the occasional spook but nothing too abnormal. In the winter time she is a lot better to ride, but because of this we do not want to sell her labelled as a riding horse.

May has driven before we got her, often pulling wedding carriages in her past. She has also had a foal before so could make a good broodmare/surrogate mare again. She also leads really nicely on a ride.

She is a mare that when you spend time with and build that bond she does love fuss and attention.

Good to shoe and for dentist, good to clip but not in a rush.

We are looking for a forever home for May, sadly she has become a horse not suited for what we intended her to be. Please do contact us for more information.

This horse is a real cracker. He’s Incredibly easy to ride with a canter to die for. Super comfortable horse with very impressive paces and a massive scopey jump. But will jump a cross pole really steady. He would be fine for a beginner jumper rider. Not really pushed him anywhere near his limit and has jumped 90cm easily.

You literally point and he jumps, he loves it. Not phased by any type of fence. Also loves his schooling.

Schooled over 70cm xc fences at previous owner and is ready to do a dressage/jumping competition

Perfect for ambitious mature rider or teenager wanting to event.

Safe enough for my little 2 year old to walk around on.

Only for sale as my life is too busy for this little man. I had ambitions above my stations and in reality I don’t have any time.

He developed some unlevelness last winter and has some investigations at Liverpool including full bone scans and found no problems at all with him. He was sound again within a week and can have to odd unsound day. Which passes the next day. It’s quite a mystery but the vets have confirmed complete soundness.

Due to this reason he is up for sale at a ridiculous price. He was bought for high 4s and is worth it. However price is not important. The right home where he can be worked is a priority as he loves his work so much and is very eager to please.

Good doer, good with farrier, load , clip , etc etc.

Smartie - 15.2hh, 14yr old super safe cob gelding.

Smartie is an absolute delight to have around the place. He will turn his hoof to pretty much anything, whether it be sj, dressage, cross country, fun rides or hunting!

A great chunky weight carrier. He will happily pop a course of 80cm, not bothered by fillers/spooky things! Hacks alone and in company through heavy traffic and farm machinery, he is also happy to lead another horse off him.

Smartie has been out with the Beaufort this season and has thoroughly enjoyed himself, he can be strong but never silly. He stands lovely at the meet, although he can be a bit fidgety once he’s got going.

He has spent most of his time in a riding school teaching novices the basics before moving to his current home where he has been a mother/daughter share, and has been regularly ridden by a slight 11 year old girl.

He is good to clip and shoe. Regular trailer loading practice means he’s now good to load. Has also travelled well in lorry. (Happy to discuss this further)

12 year old Irish sport horse (2011) 16.1/16.2hh good around the stables & farrier/vet. Oreo’s absolute dream to ride he would be suited as a good all round fun horse/hunter/low level showjumper. Absolutely heartbreaking but needs to go as I am now starting to competitively ride and due to arthritis in his hocks and has been recommended by vets to not jump above 80/85cm however this is currently managed on a glucosamine supplement given daily. He can be a bit opinionated to load but will go on with patience but is something we’re working on but is very quiet travelling. Oreo can still do everything and comes with bridle and martingale, 4 rugs.

He does have a custom fit saddle available on separate negotiation which is a loxley by bliss foxhunter lx jump saddle for an extra £1000.

Gucci - 16.2 warmblood dun mare rising 6 years old purchased directly from breeders. Gucci is a real up and coming star and will make a super jump/event prospect for next year, already she has gained her 4 British novice double clears for next years second rounds and won 2 classes at Hickstead from a very large field and was 2nd in another!

She is always snaffle mouthed with very established auto flying changes, 3 nice correct paces never strong and stays balanced at all times. Super smart and will definitely look the part in the dressage ring with further education this winter. Hacks alone and in company, dogs entail through woodland and is always reliable and enjoyable!

Very scopey with a natural careful technique always wanting to jump clear rounds, can be competitive and loves to win never spooky at different types of fences. Schooling at home up to 1m30 with ease so definitely enough jump for age classes and beyond next year! She’s been cross country schooling we’re she was faultless, attempted different complexes steps water ditches and was incredibly bold and brave so would excel at eventing also.

A very versatile mare, she is genuine enough for a competent amateur rider to enjoy and win with equally enough scope and talent for a proffesional to produce through the grades an exciting addition to anyone’s yard!

Clean set of recent X rays taken including back very sound, low mileage so no lumps bumps and perfect conformation.

Hamberlins charmer

16.2 10 year old skewbald Warmblood mare. Full sister to 1.50 jumper Hamberlins chilli

Jumped double clears up to 1.30 with young 16 year old girl who started riding her at 14 years old. Definitely scope for more. Still eligible for foxhunter.

Very brave and genuine. Will take a miss and keep going.

X country schooled and jumps open water.

A complete pleasure to have and absolutely no vices.

Good set of X-rays but Open to any further inspections.

Stella is only being sold as she can sometimes struggle indoors when the jumps go up past 1.30+, technical and the space inside gets smaller for her.

Stella is incredible outside when she has more space to move and she has a BIG gorgeous jump.

My daughter is wanting to progress further in the sport and try for the junior teams which is 1.40cm and we feel that these heights are not fair for us to ask of Stella as many are indoors.

SYDNEY - beautiful Gelding

Sid has been a pleasure to work with and has always tried to please. Previously used in a riding school on occasions and a general low level All rounder doing show jumping and dressage and some XC. He has also whipped in but also laid back to join the field - has been and is currently hunting with lady riders, showing to be an absolute gentleman.

Sid has also done a Team Chase - happily followed and jumped everything what was asked. Would make a fun teenagers horse !

More of a whoa than go ride and is not the fast and furious sort out in open spaces etc he would suit someone who enjoys the slow lane but wants to have the odd gallop now and then. beautifully schooled. Good in traffic and out hacking.

He will happily live out or in - hardy and low maintenance. Can be fed to the max and no change in him. Superb to Clip - no need of a head collar or anything.

Would make a great teenagers horse / mother daughter share or easy going adult or a fun and outgoing family. However he wouldn’t mind life in the slow lane just as much as the fast lane.

Sid is a wonderful horse who loves humans and his work.

Wanted for a young adult, experienced rider rebuilding confidence after a bad fall:

  • Mare or gelding, 14.2hh - 15.3hh
  • Age range 6-12yo
  • Breeds: adore IDs! But cobs and Connemaras are also welcome. Temperament is paramount.
  • Something sane and safe, no rearing or bucking. Good ground manners, ok to be turned out with geldings and mares.
  • Allrounder- must be ok to hack alone, be good in traffic and open spaces. Needs to school well and pop a small jump (60-70cm max as I’m not a confident jumper). I’m very much a riding school rider and so unable to take on anything green and I’m looking for something that will help me to continue building confidence and improve my skills- that will be forgiving if I get things wrong.
  • Nothing that’s super sensitive and responsive to the aids, I’d rather something that I have to work harder to get going, than something I have to keep trying to stop. I have had an accident with a horse bolting with me so this is really important.

Good budget available and a 5* home in Oxfordshire waiting. Please text/ WhatsApp me if you have something that might be a good match.

Thanks!

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Baronsdown Dancing Savannah, stable name Roxy. Roxy is a lovely kind gentle mare with a relaxed nature.

I’ve taken the time to produce her slowly and lots of hacking to see the world before she started work in the school . She is absolutely stunning and will stand out in a crowd. I’ve taken her out to competitions which she’s been totally relaxed at and got great percentages. Ready to affiliate.

Roxy is one of two beautiful horses I am currently producing. Unfortunately and heart-breakingly due to work commitments I have to look to sell one. She will be a future superstar, and will make a super showing horse.

Super all rounder

Super easy to deal with in every way.

Amazing to hack out, good in traffic/open spaces ect.

He’s still green in the arena but very willing and genuine. He’s done more hacking than school work and hasn’t ever put a foot wrong.

Still needs weight and has plenty of maturing to do. Will be a super smart lad when he’s finished off

CHARM - 15.1hh - 6yo - ISH

  • Brave and Bold Jumping
  • Excellent competitive RC / PC all rounder
  • Good to handle and excellent to hack

Charm is currently competing Senior BS Affiliated shows with us and has done lots of training shows in Ireland with her previous owners. With plenty of ability she is very bold and nimble making her an excellent rosette winner.

She has a lovely temperament, a polite and gentle soul to do everything with, catch, shoe, tie up, wash, and is no trouble to load and travel.

Charm will ride on her own or in company and is ridden in a snaffle bit always - even in big open spaces. She is sensible out hacking, good with cars, lorries and farm vehicles.

A lovely mare to have on the yard, she is a great little horse that will give her new owner lots of fun and success at PC / RC / shows etc.

A really genuine kind girl.
