Melon is the definition of a dream horse. I have owned her since she was rising 5yrs old where she had just been crowned the overall Nexgen Champion in both the eventing and dressage phases. Melon is the easiest horse I have ever owned, and is incredibly safe to ride and handle - I frequently take her out and about on my own, and my boyfriend has even ridden her (he has never sat on a horse before) and she was immaculately behaved! She is a very happy horse and not mareish AT ALL (!!). I've never seen her with her ears back, never nasty, and you will never be able to tell when she's in season as she is no different at all. I have used her to lead other horses from out hacking, and she isn't bothered if she's alone, or if the horse she's with is freaking out - she is so laid back she doesn't bat an eyelid. Melon is incredibly friendly with both people and horses - she loves a cuddle and will happily turn out with other horses (she just wants to be everyone's friend).
As well as being incredibly laid back, Melon has gorgeous movement in all three paces - and shows a huge amount of talent for piaffe/passage which she has started both. The changes are confirmed and are very straight and correct to ride. She is very easy to adjust in all paces, showing a great attitude towards her work. Melon can be whatever you want her to be - I prefer naturally hotter horses, so I have fed her accordingly and trained her to be on the more reactive side, but equally she can be a kickalong and will very happily 'cruise' round on the buckle - it totally depends on what the rider wants. She has never bucked/reared/bolted/napped/refused etc. Melon will also very happily pop a jump and is very bold over fillers/water trays although we only do it for variation in her routine. Melon has consistent results all the way from prelim to PSG - regularly scoring between 67-71%+ as she is a very consistent horse = which would make her ideal for any U21 teams.
Melon would be ideal for any type of rider. An U21 rider would have so much fun and be competitive at the same time and could progress to U25GP, equally if someone was looking for a mother-daughter share she would be fab, or a home that wants to progress up to levels to GP would have great success with her as well. She requires very low maintenance, will live in or out, alone or in a herd, and wants for nothing. She briefly had a year off due to an injury (occurred from an accident) and a lack of time due to finishing my degree, but will not affect her ridden/competition career or impact her ever in the future - will be disclosed in full with any serious enquiries (will pass a vetting).
This is a devastatingly heartbreaking sale of my beloved Melon - one that has unfortunately been forced due to a decline in my health. For this reason homes will be thoroughly vetted and serious enquiries only - I am in no rush to sell. I have thousands of pictures and videos which will be available upon request. Full wardrobe and tack available by separate negotiation (including brand new saddle).
