The very sad sale of our beloved Archie (DANASH ACTION MAN), a wonderful second pony, mother/daughter/family share or hunting pony.
We have had Archie for 2.5 years and in that time has taken my daughter (then age 9) from coming off the lead rein, to competing at Bicton PC mini champs (2024, 2025), local PC comps, camps, NSEA grassroots, ODEs, beach rides, cross country and everything in between.
He's a confidence giving school master, with three lovely paces, stylish movements and he's very handsome!
Archie enjoys low level jumping. He's taken my daughter from 40cm assisted classes to qualifying for PC regional mini champs and NSEA grassroots at Hickstead in 60+cm. He's a steady pony and my daughter has enjoyed all the activities our PC and school team has offered with Archie.
Archie has competed up to 70cm and happily will hop over 80cm out schooling.
Archie is more whoa than go, making him a brilliant ride for building the important confidence in children. He is kind and absolutely loves his job, occasionally he will put a stop in, but never nasty. He has taught my daughter to ride extremely well, with a good seat and soft hands. He responds to clear aids which has been really great for developing her as a cracking little junior rider.
Archie has been out hunting with the South Dorset this season, ridden by an adult. He proved himself true and brave, jumping anything he was allowed. He has a good pace to keep up with the field but equally was calm at the meet or whilst waiting around.
Archie has great showing potential, having competed at HOYS with his previous owners, although this isn't something we have explored in his time with us. He also is a good dressage prospect, with three lovely paces, and he's much admired wherever he goes!!
We haven't done much dressage as my daughter prefers jumping. The tests she has done have scored reasonably well, and marks lost were definitely rider errors!
He loves to hack, and is perfectly safe in all traffic and farm vehicles. He's safe in open spaces and will happily hack out alone.
Good to catch, shoe, clip, vet, load etc. Happily lives out with us 24/7 but could be stabled fine too.
We have never had any health issues with Archie. He is shod on the front.
He can be strong on the ground, but a Monty Roberts halter has gone a long way to stopping this. He's a Welsh, and has plenty of character (in a good way!)... If he thinks he can get the better of you on the ground he might give it a try.
We absolutely adore this pony and he will only go to the very best home. He has been the very best second pony I could have hoped for my daughter. He's hardly outgrown as his cob-type build will make him suitable for teens/small adults, but my daughter is ready for more speed against the clock and bigger jumps.
Vettings are welcomed.
