Wilson – 14.2hh, 14 year-old Connemara gelding - Passport name: Kilanly Phaidin
Wilson is a much-loved Connemara gelding looking for a knowledgeable, long-term home.
He is an absolute character with a huge personality and keeps you laughing, but underneath that he’s a genuinely kind and safe pony. He’s the type you can completely trust not to do anything nasty – no bucking, rearing, bolting or silliness.
He would be the most perfect lead rein pony ever! I’ve got many videos of us testing this out. He is a super sweet pony and would be perfect for someone to learn on. I’ve hacked him bareback, jumped him bareback, and ridden him tackless. He’ll happily canter across open fields on a loose buckle without getting strong or taking off. He absolutely loves beach rides, farm rides and hacking with company and is brilliant in open spaces.
However he’s also great for just anyone to enjoy! He can do a bit of everything.
He’s snaffle mouthed, sensible and never strong. He’s also great with traffic, large farm machinery and general chaos.
Wilson loves to have a fun jump and has previously jumped 80/90cm courses. He is an honest, genuine jumper who always tries his best and will happily look after his rider. He has done many camps and competitions with his previous owner, although due to a lack of transport I haven’t taken him out myself. He best travels in a 3.5 box.
Wilson has had a history of napping on solo hacks. However once you get past it a few times he gets on with the job and is eager to go exploring. He’s never napped if someone’s on the ground or with another horse. He is foot perfect out with other horses and turns into a real donkey!
I’ve taken him on many 3+ hour hacks which he loves. Hes hacked 25km a couple times with me and is bobbing his head the whole way.
He has lived in a herd and solo paddock. Great with both. He always comes running over when I go and get him even when he was in a herd in a massive field. Always the easiest horse to catch.
Medical history:
Diagnosed with hock arthritis in January. He’s had steroids and has shown significant improvement following this treatment.
Full veterinary history, x-rays and treatment details are available. However he is very happy being ridden and this no longer affects him in any way.
He is sensibly priced to reflect this.
This is an incredibly sad sale, so I’m looking for a knowledgeable home that wants a long-term partner. He thrives on varied work and plenty of attention, and I’d love him to go to someone who will enjoy him as much as I have.
