A very sad sale, Sammy my 5yr old 17.2 was broken in last year and hacks alone and in company, has seen coloured poles, hunted a couple of times. Lariats Gem - Larry is a 16.1h, 6 year old Irish Sport Horse gelding. He was imported as an unbroken 3 year old from his breeder in Ireland and has been carefully backed and produced with the aim to be a grassroots eventer by the same female amateur rider. Larry has got some vet history that would likely impact him passing a 5 stage vetting. He is therefore looking for a quieter life with more straight lines than his current regime requires. A full set of clean x-rays were obtained as a 3 year old and would be available to view. Full vet history will be available for any interested party. This is not a sale with the intention of hiding any information.

Since January 2026 Larry has qualified for BD regionals and area festivals at prelim silver in two outings - registered name Lariats Gem. However in training for the area festival he was not able to sustain the multiple consecutive days of higher intensity dressage work, alongside regular jumping within an arena.

Larry has been to many different arena hires, several show jumping shows, an arena eventing competition and several cross country schooling sessions. He enjoys jumping and much of his education has involved jumps to keep him naturally motivated. He would ideally suit someone who would like to hunt as the structure and focus that would bring would suit him well.

It is important to note that Larry needs careful and competent management and is far from a family pet. Firm but fair handling suits him best. He is a sport horse that needs channelling and therefore, he would not do well living out 24/7 as he needs the structure of daily coming in and out to thrive. He is currently used to individual turnout, although as a 3 year old he wintered out with one other. He is used to family dogs and is currently turned out with a footpath running through his field which he is unbothered by.

Where Larry is currently located (Peak District), the hacking involves narrow country lanes which have led to him being frightened by suddenly meeting large groups of scramble motor bikes, bin lorries, and high-speed push bikes. As such he would not be suitable to hack on busy main roads. He does hack out alone when traffic is limited in the early mornings and is relaxed at these times. However, unless a lack of traffic can be guaranteed he needs another horse to tuck in behind. This may improve if someone put the time into helping him, but hacking has not been a priority in his current home. He has been on the farm ride at Somerford multiple times, completed a pleasure ride at Frickley Park, and hacked in open spaces such as Chatsworth House without any issue.

He is good to shoe, catch, load, travel, bath. He is happy to come into the stable on his own. He has to be sedated for clipping. Larry can stamp backwards when he feels under pressure (this is typically not directed towards anything/anyone just his way of acting when frustrated, anxious, or confused), so he has always been ridden in a red ribbon when in company. Larry has never reared or attempted to unseat his rider. His ability to cope with the sustained dressage training was shown up due to the introduction of the occasional small buck in canter.

This is an honest advert and full transparency will be provided for any interested party. Any potential home will be vetted to ensure it will be suitable for him and you.

Joey has come over from Ireland having previously been hunted. He is a kind, genuine horse with lovely paces, a good education, and a sweet nature. Sure to make a super competition pony.

Joey has plenty of scope and a lovely jump. He enjoys xc and has been around Mostyn, but lacks confidence with new showjump fences until he has gone over them a few times.

He’s good to shoe, bath, travel, and handle. Turns out in a herd or by himself, very kind in the stable. Hacks out alone or with another. Always snaffle mouthed, straight forward to ride, responsive and forward but not sharp.

I have made the heartbreaking decision to find my boy a new home. Mac is an overheight connemara 15.2/3hh just turned 6.

He is looking for an experienced, confident home where he can reach his full potential. He needs someone that has the time to take him out and about and experience lots of different things.

He will excel in any sphere but I feel particularly as an eventer. He has lots of scope and is unfazed by fillers. He happily jumped out cross country jumps at home without looking at them. He has 3 lovely paces, lovely floating trot and developing a big rhythmical canter.

Mac was brought over from Ireland last year where he took part in a couple of hunts. Mac hacks alone and in company, good to do in always, travels in a lorry or trailer, has attended riding club lessons, dressage events where he has received high marks above 65%, generally around the 70% mark and lovely comments every time.

Mac can occasionally buck when he becomes tense and lacking in confidence. He is still green hence why he needs and experienced rider. Mac is a sweetheart who we all love dearly and will be sorely missed.

Rupert is a 15.2 16yo ISH gelding..

We originally sold Rupert four years ago to a teenage rider who enjoyed doing a bit of everything with him, including showjumping, dressage, cross-country, hunter trials, Pony Club, one-day events, clinics and hacking.

Rupert absolutely loves his jumping and is a real cross-country machine. He confidently tackles steps, ditches, hedges, banks and other natural fences and will have a go at anything put in front of him. Showjumping, he is confident with fillers and trays and has been jumping from 80cm to 1m.

Rupert is a forward-going, responsive ride, (not strong and in a snaffle) he can occasionally be a little fresh or buzzy particularly when excited, so is best suited to a confident rider who will enjoy his enthusiasm and ride him positively. He has plenty to offer an improving rider, particularly someone looking to develop their confidence and experience cross country, where his boldness and ability really come into their own.

We have found him straightforward to ride and have taken him out schooling without issue. However, after approximately eight weeks with his most recent owners, it became clear that he was more horse than they were comfortable with, so he has returned to us to find a more suitable rider.

Rupert is a very sweet horse who is good to handle, shoe, clip, load, travel, turn out and catch.

He would be ideal for a confident rider looking for an experienced and capable all-rounder who loves his job and has plenty still to offer.

Smokey Black, serious heavyweight gelding. 17/17.1hh now, but has not got a high wither and feels about 18hh when you're close to him.

This is one serious powerhouse of a Viking warrior's war horse! Looks like Thor should be riding him into Valhalla.

Floats like a butterfly with movement that makes you think he couldn’t possibly have the 10’’ of clean bone that he has. We jumped him for the first time today, and he pops 1.30 without having to make the slightest effort.

He is bold, brave, athletic, smooth-moving, handsome, and totally clean-limbed.

Raven’s father is the famous C1 Irish Draught stallion Corrindon Dancer, who won the Royal Dublin Show. I bred his mother, and she is ISH (Ballinvella) x Czech WB (Falko). Dam is the maternal half-sister to the dam of the multiple winning HW buckskin stallion Hallslake Nimrod (look him up), whom I also bred. The Ballinvella TB in the back breeding has given Raven athleticism and refinement, which, in such a huge and heavy horse, is just mind-blowing when you see him move. Genetically, I believe Raven is technically a Smoky Black as his mother is buckskin, so he has some 'dun' markings on his flank, but otherwise, when not sun bleached, he's very black.

Currently 4 years old and a raw blank canvas, having been with us from a foal. We haven’t ever even put a bridle on this boy yet. We have given him plenty of time to fill up his big frame, and mature. He has had his hooves looked after, been regularly wormed, and come in the barn for winters and lived out all summer in a herd. He is not clingy, is happy to be caught and moved away from friends, and stabled or transported without insecurity. He loads well in a trailer or lorry as he has been moved to different grazing between seasons. He can be rugged or left naked. He has no ailments or allergies and is vice-free, totally clean-limbed and straight-moving. He is kind, clever, and easy-going, naturally bold, and will be easy to break in.

What is his job going to be, and where would you find another one??

War Horse? Hunter? Show Horse? Dressage? Large person eventer? Battle reenactment horse? Jousting? Police horse? He genuinely could be absolutely anything.

We usually start our own horses undersaddle, but sometimes we find that buyers are looking to start from the begining themselves, so we are offering Raven raw initially, but we are also happy to get him backed for his purchasers if it is desired. If he is not sold during July, we will get him going, with a view to doing an hour or two of trail hunting over our fabulous, rugged terrain of Exmoor by Autumn. I honestly think he will be an absolute pleasure to get going and will be one hugely impressive horse under saddle.
