PROJECT HORSE – HONEST & GENUINE ADVERT
Please read FULL advert. It’s not all bad !!
It’s not the dealers you should be scared of it’s those private sellers. They’re the ones you need to be careful of. We value our reputation they don’t have one.
Kiwi is a very sweet-natured 5-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding standing at 16.2hh. He is generally a quiet, uncomplicated ride with a kind temperament and plenty of quality.
Important disclosure: Kiwi has been known to rear in specific circumstances, and we strongly encourage an open and honest phone conversation with any prospective buyer. We were misled by a previous owner and will not pass this on.
His quirk occurs only in company, for example when out hunting if other horses move off and he is asked to wait behind. In these moments he can occasionally rear in frustration or anxiety. This is not malicious behaviour or work evasion, but a brief reaction that resolves quickly. Once he understands that he is not going with the others, he settles immediately and continues happily. Thus making him an unsuitable hunter hireling & needing more of a one - one home with a more competent rider.
This behaviour has never occurred when hacking alone, and he has never shown it in the arena or at competitions. To further assess this, Kiwi was sent away for two weeks’ schooling with a rider who hacked him out daily alone & in company across the downs, where he never put a foot wrong. However, when he returns to hunting in a client environment, the behaviour can occasionally reappear.
Kiwi is a brave and genuine jumper, happily jumping everything asked of him out hunting, including hedges, timber, and ditches. He has three balanced, athletic paces and a good basic level of flatwork for his age. He is well bred, by the Connemara jumping stallion Pumkins Pondi & is out of a Cavalier Royal mare, with plenty of scope and presence he would make an ideal event or dressage prospect.
Due to his quirk, Kiwi is not suitable for a hireling or client environment, and we cannot allow clients to ride him. As he is therefore not able to work as a hireling, combined with the current cost of hay and the time of year, we feel it is the right decision to find him a suitable new home now.
Aside from this, Kiwi is a genuinely kind and affectionate horse with a lovely nature and a lot of potential. In the right home, he would make a super Grassroots prospect or beyond, he is absolutely fearless out hunting but not strong, or make a more competent rider a valuable hunter or hunt servant. He is quality enough for pure dressage and has competed in showing and dressage last summer, always being placed.
He will be a very valuable horse in time I just don’t have the time, or patience!!
You can see from the videos of this summer what a lovely horse he is.
Please call for a full and honest discussion.
