DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • Top quality pony with a fantastic temperament
  • Would suit a huge variety of homes as he is good across the disciplines
  • BD record up to elementary (including Area Festivals)

Top quality pony with a fantastic temperament and a real gentleman (very hard to find sort). Yard favorite as he is so easy.

Competed dressage up to elementary at BD including Area Festivals (and also unaffiliated). He has been well schooled throughout his life and he knows all the movements (including half pass) and balanced counter canter. He has a great work ethic and is quick to learn.

I have jumped him up to 80cm with ease (which is as high as I want to go as I am dressage focused and too old for the big tracks now). He is honest to a fence, good with his feet and he’s quick against the clock. He is careful and does not touch the fences. He does not get silly or heat up and listens. Can do a flying change.

He is always in the ribbons in all disciplines and usually first or second. We have so many rosettes I keep having to buy new holders for them.

Forward off the leg but never fizzy, you can leave him unridden for a week and he’s the same, you don’t have to lunge him. Always ridden in a snaffle. Safe enough that I have put very young children and grandmothers on his back (even whilst other horses are going nutty in the same arena) but he is not a boring plod along, loves a good gallop (when asked but happy to walk if you say that’s as fast as you want to go).

He is affectionate (always a whinny and lots of kisses to greet you), loves to be with you (will follow you around the stable and arena) but is a little face shy. He is very easy to love as he has a sweet nature and will always bow to your will (in the saddle and on the ground).

Loads in a trailer or a lorry and travels like a saint.

No vices (ground or stable), never bucked or reared (he is too much of a gentlemen). Never sick or sorry, up to date on vaccinations, teeth and worming. He has always been bare foot and has great feet, super with the farrier and to be clipped.

Good do-er and doesn’t need hay soaking or grazing muzzle in the summer.

Good to hack alone or in company, good in open spaces, will go first or last. Good with farm machinery and busses.

Passed a 5* vet just over 12 months ago. I have all his history all the way back to his first owner (only for sale as my girls have lost interest and he is a little bit too small for my husband).

Would suit a huge variety of homes as he is good across the disciplines and happy to be ridden by a teenager who either wants to have some fun or get serious or an adult looking to be competitive and safe.

Competition fit and ready to go.

Tack and wardrobe available under separate negotiation (if required).

No loans, trials or joy riders.

  • Between 7 and 14 years. No bucking, bolting or rearing, established flatwork
  • Preferably Gelding

I am looking for a safe and sensible native/lightweight cob after losing my Welsh D recently. Although I have owned a horse for the last 15 years I would not class myself as experienced and have confidence issues especially since breaking a couple of vertabrae after a fall.

I am looking for that special pony who you would classify as anyone's ride! Would be mainly used for schooling ( unaffiliated dressage), very little jumping, if any?, hacking through open fields and roads.

No bolters/rearers/buckers and must be able to hack alone as well as in company. Would like something nicely forward, not green and happy to school as well as hack. Would be kept at livery with excellent facilities, including indoors schools, outdoor schools, miles of off road hacking etc.

Willing to travel within 100 miles of Skipton, North Yorkshire

Gorgeous 2018 dun Irish mare standing at a full up 14.3hh. This super girl is a brilliant stamp and model, such a leg in each corner / weight carrier type, with the most sane and sensible head on her.

Buttons is a kind girl, she will stand for hours to be groomed, laid back and easy, she loves people and has the sweetest nature.

She has three established and comfortable paces in the school, she’s super safe, rides off the voice and will put up with someone learning, or a nervous rider, a very genuine mare.

Buttons is wonderful to hack, she is absolutely bombproof in traffic, isn’t bothered by heavy vehicles, chaotic environments, fast moving vehicles etc, she will go in front or behind and is happy to go out alone and in company, a happy hackers dream but enough quality to show.

A beautiful safe girl, hard to find with the same stamp and colour, open to any vet or trainer

We sold this lovely girl in the summer, she’s available due to owners change in personal circumstances and no fault of her own.

Queensdown Safari, aka Leo. Welsh X New Forest 2010 Gelding.

If unicorns existed Leo is the closest you would get, he is genuinely a legend. He loads and travels as quiet as a mouse in anything. Perfect for the farrier, dentist, vet, physio & to clip ( you don't even need a head collar on). Lives either in or out with mares and geldings. No stables vices at all and he has never reared, bolted, bitten or kicked. Leo hacks alone or in company. He has won numerous local shows and dressage competitions, he could do a family pony on the Saturday & get a decent % in Elementary on the Sunday. He is over stamped with CHAPS & TGCA and a life height certificate.

The dressage points he has accrued has been achieved in just under two years - 96 Prelim, 88 Novice & 8 Elementary - 192 points. Here are just a few of the competitions he has been selected for:

- Prelim Bronze Area Festival Finals
- Area Festival Finals at Hartpury
- Senior Inter Regional Teams X 4
- Area Festivals at Novice
- Area Regionals at Prelim Silver
- Kent Teams
- Associated Championship Prelim Silver
- Senior Home International Team

Also he has been very successful in Ridden Showing at County Level Winning Part Bred Traditional & Coloured Classes and too many local wins to list!

Leo is very clever, loves to learn, loves to show off and loves to please. The best home only as little horses like him don't come around very often. His next home will need to be one that will keep his brain active and continue with his potential. He will not just go to a happy hacking home and he is NOT for novices. He will be an awesome candidate for veterans in a couple of years and possible HOYS potential. No loans, no LWVTB and no payment plans so please do not ask. He will come with his fully fitted dressage saddle & bridle.

For more pictures & videos please look on Sarah Flick Sanderson Facebook Profile.

Please call on 07850 416178 any reasonable time.

Frankie is a 14.2/3 coloured cob. The type that everyone wants, worth his weight in gold!!! He will give even the most nervous of novices confidence!

He hacks out in any situation alone or in company even having a trip to McDonalds drive through! Nothing phases him. I can’t describe how bombproof he is.

He was bought 4 and a half years ago as a first pony for my 11 year old daughter but full history known as he was bought from a family friend.

She has done a bit of everything with him from xc, showjumping, hunter trials, pony camp and hunting last season.

He pretty much loads himself, perfect to clip as I do this all year round. Up to date with everything.

I will only respond to phone calls to discuss details.

With a heavy heart, we are putting this much-loved family member up for sale as sadly my daughter is ready to move onto horses.

We brought Cooley 4 years ago, and since then my daughter has slowly and carefully brought him on.

He has turned his hoof to many things including dressage, hacking, jumping, bareback, cross country, camps, shows and more. He moves beautifully and would be a great dressage pony as his flatwork is excellent and he's so relaxed at shows. He enjoys jumping, especially cross country - most of his xc experience with my daughter has been doing pairs or in a group lesson. And while he enjoys showjumping he can be inconsistent, so wouldn't suit a competitive showjumping home.

He is regularly hacked on busy roads and in open spaces by my daughter and is unphased by everything - lorries, motorbikes, farm machinery, dogs etc. Never spooky or silly and doesn’t get fizzed up with other horses. My daughter rides him in all weathers - bareback and in the dark. Perfect to catch, clip, load, travel, shoe, dentist, groom etc.

Three lovely established paces and excellent class 1 breeding (Grandsire Castleside JJ).

Excellent vet history available to see.

He would suit a child, teenager or small adult looking for a forever best friend to have fun with. Max weight limit 9 and a half stone.

Up-to-date with teeth and all injections. Open to full vetting. Tack not included.

Cooley will only go to a 5* home.
