Smurf is a characterful registered section A who we have owned since August 2024 - I'd hoped we would have this summer to enjoy him too but my daughter has suddenly grown and become too large for him, realistically. We're a bit gutted but it's now not fair on either of them.
Treferthur WPCS prefix
We bought Smurf as my daughter's second pony when she was 9, I wanted a step up from her ever-obliging LR/FR and he has done the job perfectly - enough character and sass to make her think, whilst never being dangerous or dirty.
We have done a mix of things with him - and he was only a fairly green 5 year old when we bought him (but took him straight to a stay away show for a few days!) - including some PC, showing, jumping, lots of hacking and general enjoyment. They have both come on lots over their time together.
He has the most striking movement and with further experience could be a cracking dressage pony.
Has a great pop on him and enjoys his jumping - we don't have the facilities at home (or a mother with much jumping knowledge!) but think with more practice over fillers and WH fences he could be a nice cradle stakes pony.
Good in company, in lessons etc (although he does have some small-man syndrome occasionally, it's a lots of harmless pontificating really!)
Great to hack (because of my daughter's age this has been done mainly with me riding out with her on my horse - we've done some fun rides too).
Very easy to take to anywhere - just gets on with it!
Barefoot with us. Up to date with teeth, vaccinations etc. Easy to catch etc.
He doesn't massively like fuss and can be a little territorial in his stable, especially when you first walk in and if there's food. But once his headcollar is on he's great and has been perfect too for her to learn to tack up etc.
He will be honestly sorely missed here but he's done his job for us and needs to go thrive with the next now.
