We have owned Jimney Cricket for 4 1/2 years. He is a super star pony. Sensible and safe to be handled and groomed by the smallest of little children. He is used to a busy yard with dogs, chickens, children and farm machinery. If he is not ridden for afew weeks, he is just the same sensible easy boy. He has always been fit, healthy and sound. Comes with tack, 2 saddles. (Including Inkydinky saddle) and rugs. He was successfully shown as a youngster at county level. Moves beautifully!

Popeye - 12 year old 11.2 registered Welsh section A gelding

Fantastic all round pony club lead rein and family pony. Popeye is the sort of pony you can leave for weeks, pop your child on to go for a ride and know he’ll be the same as the last time he was ridden. Not phased by wobbly tiny tots.

Popeye hacks alone and in company, good in traffic(including trains!), pops a little fence and goes sweetly on the flat. He’ll follow you over anything, he’s very brave and willing.

Used to all farm machinery and pheasant proof. Will hack all day.

Good to do in all ways, turns out on his own or in company and doesn’t stress if he’s left, equally doesn’t bother about being left in on his own. Good to handle, catch, clip, bath, for the farrier, to travel etc. He really is a very easy pony to have around.

Popeye has started his education off the lead and is coming along nicely, he has a lovely balanced canter and would be suitable for a competent child off the lead however he is not a tiny tots fyfr due to his lack of mileage as a first ridden.

Never been sick or sorry, he’s a happy little chap who has so much to give to another family.

Heartbreaking sale of a much loved pony who sadly no longer has a job with his current family and has too much left to offer to be a field ornament. Home is very important, no dealers.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Ruby - It’s with a very heavy heart that we look for Ruby’s new home

Ruby is currently ridden by children of all ages and abilities (owned by 11 year old) and all off lead. However, we feel Ruby would be best suited as a lead rein or 1.5/2nd pony to reach her full potential. Ruby is one in a million. Happy to be dressed up, painted, plaited and will stand there all day long to be pampered, she is a regular at pony club rallies and attended pony club camp this year. She has been to arena hires, XC, the gallops and competed in local shows proving to do very well in the dressage arena.

Ruby is well schooled and has started her lateral work with a competent jockey but she is still young and so would need to continue her education. She hacks out alone and in company. Not fazed by any traffic/farm machinery, she is confident out on the open forest with ponies, cows deer and pigs roaming around. She absolutely loves a good gallop across the forest if you ask. But will adjust to rider, so if you want a steady walk and trot she is just as happy.

Ruby is one of the most versatile little cobs out there.. with her eye catching looks and powerful compact short backed conformation she is a serious show ring pony and would suit a showing/ dressage home if you really want results. She is happy to pop a small course and really loves a jump out on the forest!

Honest notes:
*Ruby will put in a small buck when going into canter occasionally, this has not unseated her child riders but more schooling will help with this.
*After coming to us with bad mallenders, which is all cleared up with no further flare ups, she is sensitive around her legs and needs an understanding farrier (she is unshod). However she is good as gold to have her feet picked out daily and washed for shows.
*If ridden in the school by a complete beginner she will be lazy and yet will be forward off the leg for a confident jockey..
*Ruby travels like a dream in a trailer or 7.5t but didn’t enjoy travelling backwards in a 3.5t the once we tried, however as she travels so well normally we expect it to get better with practice.

Only a loving, capable home for this young wonder pony

'Lightning' The MOST Gorgeous Best Friend anyone could wish for. He is the easiest, sweetest boy to handle. We call him our pet dog, as he would follow us around all day for cuddles if he could.

He is beautiful on the flat and very responsive. He behaves at arena hire, cross country, pony club rallies, fun rides and competitions, the same as he does at home. Perfect in open spaces and not strong. Been through water & loves a day out.

Before us he was in Ireland, and loved to go out hunting too.

We ride him in a snaffle, but when a tiny rider pops on him we put him on the second ring on a gag & this gives them plenty of brakes. Nothing more is needed, he’s that perfect. He really wants to please & never does anything naughty.

When at the gallops he’ll fly up the track with the rider trying to win, or stay 1/2 a mile back with a nervous rider just wanting to trot. He really is a dream.

Saying all this, he isn’t a complete first pony, as he loves jumping & becomes much more forward when you pop the jumps up past 50cm. He will happily trot around a course of cross poles though. If the rider can hold their reins, walk & trot, then he’ll teach you everything else nice & calmly.

He’s been to lots of stay away shows this year & loved it. Most recently Spooktacular at Arena UK, jumping double clears every day in the 40&50cm.

We’ve competed him successfully up to 65cm. Arena Hire up to 80cm, individual jumps up to 95cm. Scope for more.

In Ireland he competed in 18 classes, 70&80cm and won 17 of them!! Had 1 pole in the other. With an experienced jockey he would be a complete rosette machine!

Very fast against the clock, incredible turns. Could also be a fantastic games pony with training.

He is ridden successfully by a small 6 year old girl. As his 8 year old rider is the size of a 12-13 year old, so just too big for another season :(.

He’s never been schooled by adults. Any size kid/ or age can jump on. He’s good to go and super sensible & safe.

He does not kick, rear, buck or anything else of this description. No vices, or issues.

Turns out with mares & geldings.

Handled by kids daily, including my 4 year old, who turns him out & brings him in. The kids often ride him back & forth to the field in a head collar, sat on his rug.

Up to date with farrier, injections, chiropractor, dentist and wormers.

Price £9,000 – £10,500 (depending on tack options)

Full set of rugs and tack negotiable.

##THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST - DEPOSIT TAKEN##

Registered standard black Shetland gelding, very smart with lots of hair.

5 years old

Purchased as a two year old directly from the breeder, we find ourselves without a regular rider and he’s currently wasted in the field as a weaning companion. This has been a difficult decision because we think the world of him.

Lightly but successfully shown locally on the lead rein and in hand, with lots of wins/champs. 3rd (highest placed Shetland) in the M&M championship at SWPA. Also qualified for STARS in M&M LR. We are very much amateur/home produced; Ross could be a serious contender for the qualifiers next year. Equally could be a happy hacker or Pony Club allrounder, just needs a family who will enjoy him.

Although he’s been purely a lead rein pony for tiny-tot riders, he spent a few weeks during Summer 24 with a small teen who rode him off the lead rein, on busy roads, practiced games and jumping. Nothing phased him; he’s not spooky and more whoa than go. Whilst away he also attended PC camp with a novice lead rein rider.

He’s been to a handful of PC rallies and one day of camp this year.

Used to farm traffic, quads, dogs, bikes etc. Turns out on his own or with others. Loads and travels no problem. Good to clip, farrier, dentist.

Although he's being sold as a lead rein pony; with a little schooling could be a lovely First Ridden.

No history of sweet itch or laminitis, always been barefoot.

Up to date with vaccinations.

Currently chubby and fluffy!

Zoe Snape saddle pad, English bridle and Le Beau Cheval lead rein outfit available by separate negotiation.

I have some more videos on WhatsApp; my technical skills are very limited, serious enquiries only please.

It’s with a heavy heart that we are offering our much loved pony for sale Bambi. He is a fantastic little project pony, great to load and handle, with a kind nature that makes him a joy to be around. He has a springy jump and shows lots of promise, though he is still a little green and will benefit from further schooling and consistency.

He hacks well and is good to lunge and groom and has had no problem with the farriers. He has completed a few in hand shows and has been recognised by judges for excellent Welsh section b bloodlines particularly in showing.

Sadly, due to my daughter being focused on her exams, he simply isn’t getting the time and attention he deserves, and we want to see him thrive with someone who can give him that we feel he would suit an experienced rider that can extend his education further .

This is a very difficult decision for us, as he is such a special part of our family since he was a yearling, but we know he has so much potential to shine with the right person. We have many videos and pictures

Our perfect girl is looking for a new little girl to bring up the levels

Stunning 12.2 19yo (rides like a 10yo) Dutch mare imported by us 5 years ago.

Kitty has successfully taken my daughter from bottom hole xpoles to winning bs 80 and unaffiliated 90. I trust her with my life and my daughter jumps her saddle less and bridleless, takes her hacking around the farm, including galloping around the fields and hacking down the road. She is a cross country machine and jumps everything you put in front of her.

She has won chase me Charlie clearing 120 with my daughter. When Bellas friends who dont ride come over, she bumbles around the school with them on and off the lead. She will go forward off the littlest of legs and will fill her new jockey with so much confidence to go out and succeed. She is lovely on the flat and will go in an outline for a more established rider. She has done everything with my daughter.

She is perfect to load and will stand on the lorry all day. She loves a fuss and to be brushed a pampered, she really is a total dream. Although we arent in the pony club she has done pony club shows etc and loves to do games. She is perfect in open spaces.

Never sick or sorry and has never needed the vet since weve owned her.

Only the best of homes need apply, this is a heartbreaking sale as she is wasted now because she is hopelessly outgrown. Will not be sold to a purely showjumping home as she loves and deserves a varied life.

TALLULAH

Gorgeous 2017 dark bay Irish mare standing at a full up 13hh, so beautifully marked and well put together, with a long body and a big step she rides much bigger than 13hh and takes the leg up massively.

Tallulah has lovely paces and produces a great test, she is snaffle mouthed, voice activated and is super safe and easy.

She has done plenty of riding club, showjumping, hunting and dressage. Tallulah will jump whatever you place her at, off any stride and is super careful, a fantastic candidate for a BS pony, or a pony club allrounder as she has plenty of showjumping experience already, she isn’t bothered by XC fences or coloured fillers and she looks after her rider.

She will give you plenty of confidence and makes light work of jumping a track of fences.

She’s super to hack out alone and in company, she isn’t bothered by heavy traffic, farm machinery, or the gayest of traffic, a real super star pony with so much offer and lots of brilliant qualities, she’s special enough to do a showing or worker’s job, but equally a great mother daughter share or pony club pony.

She’s super laid back in the yard, affectionate and sweet to handle in every way, a real easy type to have around with impeccable manners.

It is with a very heavy heart that we have decided to find Skype a new best friend who she can teach and have endless fun with.

Skype is a very sweet natured mare. No health issues other than sweet itch to manage in the summer months. She is always quiet and calm and enjoys a fuss! She will be a perfect lead rein for another little person, or a wonderful first/second ridden for a more experienced/confident rider.

We have owned Skype for almost 2 years and she has brought our daughter on heaps to coming off the lead rein at pony club camp. She would need a rider who is confident to tell her who’s in charge. The reason we have decided to sell is because our daughter has now moved onto her next pony, and our son has no interest in riding.

Skype is good to shoe, load, groom etc. She does need to be sedated to clip. Skype lives in at night and out by day in the winter months and lives out throughout the summer months.

Skype is happier kept in regular work.

VERY very occasionally she has had a buck when our daughter lets her reins slip. This is the only reason we are advertising her to more experienced riders. Skype has never put a foot wrong on the lead rein.

We have attended rallies, show jumping, pony club camp etc. We have not taken her hunting and I’m not sure her previous home did either so I’m afraid I cannot give a reference for her hunting.

Happy to discuss further and will only be sold to the right family. Plenty of videos and photos available.

Skype has been out of work and ridden very occasionally since October as our daughter hasn’t had the time to ride 2 ponies. This has been reflected in the asking price.

Contact Jack for further details on 07904185720. Serious enquiries only please.

Price includes rugs and tack.

Super lead rein or hunting pony

  • Candy – 10.3hh, 10-year-old Lead Rein / Hunting Superstar
  • Snaffle mouth • Safe • Sweet • Sad sale

Candy is the loveliest little mare who has spent most of her life as a much-loved lead rein pony. We bought her in the summer and she has been an absolute gem for Darce, participating in a huge variety of activities including:

• XC schooling
• SJ (including pairs jumping which she loved!)
• Beach rides
• Forestry hacks
• Pony Club camp
• Shows
• Hound exercise & hunting
• Lunging while Darce was recovering from her operation

Candy has taken everything in her stride. She is happiest out hunting or hacking—ears pricked, loving life. Under saddle she’s safe and sensible, and on the lead rein she will happily follow you all day at whatever speed you can manage!

When jumping independently she just needs a few fences to get her confidence, then she gets her head in the game and off she goes. With a confident little jockey or as a lead rein pony she will thrive.

The Good Bits:
• No health issues
• Snaffle mouth
• Easy for farrier, clip, load (trailer or lorry)
• Lives in or out, on her own or with others
• Very easy keeper – not much grass needed
• Comes with full tack
• Lots of videos & photos available

Honest Point:
She can be a little moody to catch on the odd day. She doesn’t run off—just turns her bum if she’s not in the mood. Darce always catches her easily, so we feel she may have had a bad experience in the past. Once caught, she is a total sweetheart.

Candy would be a wonderful asset to a hunting home, lead rein family, or a little rider who wants miles of safe fun with a kind, genuine pony. She has brought us so much joy and this is a very sad sale of a much-loved girl.

Parents dream lead rein pony

This gorgeous little mare is looking for a new little person to love her.

She is such a sweet thing, adores cuddles and loves to be spoilt. She is used to children, dogs, farm animals and machinery. I trust her implicitly.

She has done various PC activities and Junior Camp. Travels perfectly on a trailer and box. Hacks alone or in company. Happy to ride and lead her.

Lives in and out, never any laminitis. Has been turned out with mares and geldings. Good with farrier, vet etc. Only downside is, she has very mild sweet itch, though this has been managed very easily.

We have had Tinkerbell for just over 2 years. She is a true lead rein pony. She is 100% safe to be handled on the ground in all respects by very young children. She is absolutely perfect on the lead rein walking, trotting, cantering, jumping a course and is excellent to teach on the lunge. Off the lead rein- some days she is fantastic, others she will be a typical awkward mare. She has never done anything scary or dangerous- no bucks, rears or kicks, never takes off or goes too fast, she can simply be awkward and make it difficult for young children to make her go forward.

Comes with new tack that we bought when we got her.

Top Class Cadlanvalley Welsh B HOYS First Ridden, Junior, potential WHP Palomino Gelding!
128cm. 6 years. Near Blackpool.

Beautiful mover with excellent conformation and very well put together. He has the potential to shoot for the stars and no doubt will be a serious contender in the qualifiers next season.

Qualified and competed HOYS 2024 in the open B class as a stallion. He has since been gelded and has settled in well to his new life, he is a very quiet and easy to be around, with no stallion like tendencies whatsoever.

Would suit a slightly older first ridden jockey or a jockey ready to step up into the junior or opens. He is beautifully schooled and whilst is still young and classed as a novice he knows his job.

Bred by the highly successful Cadlanvalley Stud, he is the most beautiful golden palomino, dream pony! He is beautifully marked with four tall white stockings and a bright white mane and tail. He makes quite the picture!

Only offered for sale due to a lack of time, he is too good to be pushed to one side all winter with my daughter wanting to focus on her jumping ponies.

13.2 7years beautiful piebald mare.

Has been a livery’s best friend for over a year and she had done such an amazing job at gaining the little girls confidence.

She is fabulous to hack in front or following or alone. Happy to swim in river. Go past large farm machinery. Can put a bomb off next to her and she will stand and look after her rider.

Has been out jumping at different venues and not worried by fillers and fantastic manners in warm up ring. Always come home with a ribbon but most importantly a happy child!!!

Has done a few tests and shows great promise. Unfortunately the little girls loves to hack and jump and do fun lessons!!!!

Before being the liveries pony she was in a riding school for a short time and I was told she was a firm favourite to many children.

She is easy to catch, trim, clip, dentist. Etc. she really is a true super star.

Ready to go and teach her next little rider. She is great to teach her rider canter and she has never bucked, reared, bolted. If you have a nervous child that is wanting to regain confidence she is your pony.

Ellie is a wonderful example of the welsh section A breed, she has been shown succesfully in hand for 3 years always being placed well and always well behaved with lovely manners, excelling in young handlers classes, including RWS last year.

She was professionally broken as a 6 year old and turned away as no rider, then lightly ridden by a small teenager last year and she showed huge promise, this year she has been ridden by a 4 year old for 5 months including hacking out and her manners were impeccable, she will make a top class leading rein in the right hands.

She will stand for hours to be groomed by little ones, she travels well, is good for farrier and dentist, great with dogs, has happily been led out on the lead by bigger horses for exercise, and is a truly lovely honest pony who is desperate for more work and a little person of her own.

I sadly have no rider for her and I cannot bear to see her go to waste.
