Lead Rein & First Ridden: First pony

Sweetest, kindest, schoolmistress

Ref #: 348551

  • Bridget is the sweetest and safest little pony you could imagine

Bridget - 13’2 coloured cob mare, just turned 16.

Bridget is the sweetest and safest little pony you could imagine. We have had Bridget for 18months, and bought her having only had 2 months of riding school lessons. I was very nervous when we first got her, having had a bad fall on a hack at the riding school. Thanks to Bridget I am now super confident and looking to start eventing.

She has taught me to canter and jump which I hadn’t done at all previously. We have had a weekly lesson with the same trainer for the whole time we have had her at various arena hires and been out to lots of clinics, farms rides, camps and XC. We have competed in dressage and showjumping mainly at 50 and 60cm and never been out of the ribbons. She did jump up to 1m in her previous home, and round courses of 70-80.

Bridget loves to jump and never says no to a fence, always finding a way to make stride and keep you safe. When I was first jumping she would slow and wait for me to regain my balance after a fence. She really looks after her rider and happily changes up or down depending on the riders level. My 74yo mother in law, 4yo niece and many others in between have ridden her and she has been prefect every time.

Bridget hacks happily alone or in company. When hacking alone and with a nervous rider she can sometimes call out which I did find initially quite unsettling but never ever does anything more and doesn’t do it if someone is on the ground. She is not the spooky type and nothing phases her. Often when hacking with others Bridget goes ahead to lead more nervous horses past “scary” items, through water etc.

Bridget is also perfect on the ground, you can remove all her tack or leave her stable door open and she won’t go anywhere. Good for and up to date with the farrier, jabs and dentist. She has always been barefoot. She is good to clip but needs sedating to do her ears. Never once kicked or bitten.

She would make an excellent first or second pony. We have kept in touch with her previous owners, in which home she taught an 11yo girl to ride and was then outgrown. As much as it breaks my heart to say, she is now ready to do the same for someone else.

Never had any heath issues or lameness. Vettings welcome. Lots of photos and videos available upon request.

We have had indie for 2 years now and has recently been lightly backed and going very well on the lead rein.

We are heart broken as she’s perfect in every way bar her little legs haven’t grown as much as we hoped, which leaves us without a little jockey to produce her further.

She’s good as gold for the farrier & was a gem when the dentist came to visit. Hasn’t done much travelling but loads & has been fed on the box etc & wasn’t fussed at all. S

he’s will stand all day to be brushed, full of character & a joy to have around.

We would keep her in a heartbeat as a pet / companion but she would be wasted. Indie has such a bright future ahead & deserves a little person to please & be spoilt by.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Ruppy (also know as RuPaul) has been in his present home for the past 3 years and we have his life history prior to us. He really is a superstar show ring waiting to shine. He is so easy to do with in every way.

Owned by Erin who is now way too big for him. Such a sad sale but the family moved to Canada for the rest of the year and Erin ready for the next height we have the difficult decision to find him a new home.

He is a very flashy and moves amazing. He would do amazing under saddle in the big ring as he has had a successful showing career as a youngster in hand (see photos).

His previous owners still want to stay in contact. Erin didn’t have the time for big competitions so has done just local shows and lots of dressage and won lots with us in the 3 years.

Ruppy hacks out alone or in company like a dream, he travels like a super star and loves to stand and be bathed, groomed and pampered. Will stand tied up all day long at shows. You can literally do anything with him.

He is never sick or sorry and loves his work. He has never bucked, reared or done anything untoward. He needs leg but not dopey so ideal for any type of rider.

Just a really sweet boy looking for his next loving home. Only 5 star home will do. Travel, load, shoe, clip, catch all fantastic. Dream pony to have on my yard

Domino has a super, kind and lovable temperament, whilst also being a truly exceptional child’s pony and best friend.

Safe and genuine confidence giver – perfect FYFR, First pony and complete gentleman in all respects.

We have owned Domino for 3 years and he has taken my daughter from a nervous, novice rider and has filled her with so much joy and confidence but she has now hopelessly outgrown him and is needing the next step up. Domino has attended several Pony Club rallies, camps, clinics, xc schooling and fun rides and he always behaves impeccably, he will stand all day tied up to the trailer and is never silly. She takes him riding with friends and he really is a genuine family pony for all to ride. My 10-year-old son who is an inexperienced and infrequent rider has ridden him and he doesn’t put a foot wrong and will adjust to his rider’s ability.

Domino will happily jump a course of 65cm - he has been jumping 80cm with my daughter but he is definitely more comfortable up to 70cm. He is a fantastic all rounder and always puts 100% effort into everything he does.

He will hack out alone or in company and is fantastic in all traffic/open spaces. My daughter hacks him alone regularly and I trust him implicitly to look after her. He will go in front or behind and is never silly or strong and will always canter safely.

Over the past three years Domino has transformed my daughter’s confidence levels and massively enhanced her ability as a rider. It is now time for him to do the same again for another little jockey.

He mixes well in the field and loves having company but never becomes attached and happy to leave his friends to go hacking etc.

Perfect for the farrier, vets, clipping, loading & travelling

Up to date with vaccinations, teeth, worming and back checks. He has never been sick, sorry or lame. Open to any vetting.

A truly genuine, lovely boy who is a once in a lifetime pony looking for a special home and a new best friend. Home is so important for us so the match must be right. This is a truly heart breaking sale - serious enquiries only. He will come with a full wardrobe including fitted saddle.

Littmere Isadora

Dora is a pleasure to have around and has the most incredible temperament.

She was professionally backed and ridden away over the winter and then turned away and is just slowly being brought back into work now. She is still green and just needs a little time to further of her education, but is so genuine.

She isn’t sharp, silly or spooky at all. She is easy to work with and on the ground is lovely to deal with.

Although she was purchased with the prospect of being my daughter’s SP LR she has the most delightful temperament and I could really see her being a cracking FR. She isn’t yet the finished article at all and although has been ridden on the lead by my daughter proving to be totally sane and sensible she now just needs the time to mature and develop and will be a super LR or FR for next season.

She is lovely with my 4 year old daughter and loves the attention from her. She runs around the outside of her field playing games and Dora just follows her round.

She has been to a local show just for a walk around and was a good girl.
Good to do everything with, up to date with vaccinations, teeth.

Super sad sale but sadly my circumstances have dramatically changed (More than happy to discuss this on the phone).

Tia Maria is an un-registered New Forest. Dun in passport but so dark she usually looks brown.

Wonderful for the transition from lead-rein to off-lead and a bit further.

In the 2 years we've had her she has brought our son from nervous near-beginner to riding really well and confidently. They won the PC branch's Best Pony & Rider Combination trophy last year.

She absolutely knows her job with wobbly little people, she's balanced and comfortable with lovely paces. Not fazed by learner riders and responds well to a parent's voice from the ground giving transition commands. Very steady by nature, very slightly more forward on grass, when following another pony etc. She adjusts immediately to younger riders, having given weekly lessons to a small girl while our son has grown and been doing more. She's the same whether ridden recently, or not for a fortnight. She also lunges well.

She is an absolute star at pony club and local shows etc. happily grazing where tied, then falls asleep, or stands with haynet on the trailer. Then trundles around with no bother at all, looking pretty and winning rosettes. She's won local working hunters with us and previous home. Tiny SJ-ing often in the money too. X-C schooling she's always totally great...has gone clear in competition too, but has also done slow, grind-to-halt type refusal away from friends.

She's got a lovely economical jump, happily trotting over x-poles and 30/40cm, or with stronger riding 50cm. But being more senior we absolutely think she's now best kept to the lower levels which is right up her slightly idle street. She had slight stiffness in her hocks when we had her vetted 2 years ago but it hasn't stopped her happily and soundly doing loads of low level things with us. And there's every reason to think she should have several more young children to teach.

We don't hack much as don't currently have other horses, but when we do we accompany on foot and she's very good. She hasn't batted an eyelid at traffic on our local roads.

We are looking for an experienced, sensible home because as most ponies can, she very occasionally gets excited and has faster moments. These moments are short lived, predictable and excusable, like galloping besides another pony at a racing rally, or doing fast, competitive pc games. Keeping her out of such situations she doesn't get excited. We did low key lead-rein/assisted games for more than a year and that was perfect.

Perfect to catch, groom, farrier (great feet, currently shod in front but been barefoot), clipping, vet etc. Has sometimes been sticky to load - food in front and lunge line behind seems to be the key. No history of laminitis, cushings, sweet itch etc. Up to date vaccinations, worming, teeth, back check etc.

We've kept her in a DIY livery yard where she has company in neighbouring paddocks and stables. We restrict her grass because she's a really good do-er and in spring it can make her a little fresh. She's given our son hours of fun in the arena, pretending to be a jockey/soldier, jumping and practicing games. She has been an absolute star at pony club rallies, camp, little competitions, local agricultural shows. We've been so lucky to have her.

Tack and rugs included with her. Adjustable Kent and Masters saddle has recently been re-sized by an approved fitter (we managed to get some weight off over the winter).

Price reflects her age, not her amazing ability at her job. More photos and videos available on request by WhatsApp.

Mary is a super safe lead rein pony. She is great on the lead rein and truly is bombproof. Children, adults, your grandparents anyone could lead this pony around. You could have as many children as you want mess around with her whilst being led. She really wouldn’t care. She’s great in traffic and has been hacked up a main road.

Shes great on the floor. You can have lots of children around her grooming her. She will stand all day for a fuss. Good to catch and turn out. Children can do it themselves.

She has been to a show in hand with us and was brilliantly behaved. She stood like a dream and tied up at the trailer all day long. We didnt hear a sound out of her.

Shes a really pretty pony that would do well in the show ring. Either in hand or lead rein/ first ridden.

She will follow another horse being ridden all day long. She does walk, trot, canter and pop a little jump on her own with a confident jokey on her. She is nappy towards other horses when ridden on her own. But with a tap of a whip she moves forward. She has never been nasty

She would be a lovely little pony for someone. Please message me for anymore details.

Lavender - Approx 13hh seriously beautiful and cute black beauty. To be honest, this pony was made in someone’s dream, she is as close to perfect as you will find.

She is led, ridden, bathed, brought in, groomed, and follows children because she thrives on love, she is a pet not just a pony. She has been dressed up, played games, popped little fences, and been a confidence giver to even the most nervous of children who have had bad experiences previously. Stands for you to do anything with her, even gymnastics!

She’s just wonderful. You will struggle to find a quieter safer pony. Especially with the looks and quality she has. Don’t be put off by her age, if you met her you would assume 10 years+! But she’s 4 rising 5. A whole lifetime of happiness to give to a very lucky child or small adult.

He will come with a full wardrobe including all tack and every type of rug.

Heartbreaking Sale of our much loved Samson. He truly is such a special versatile pony. He was bought for my then 6 year old little girl as her first pony to love and progress on. In the time we have had samson we have done loads of hacking, he is forward going for a cob and is happy to lead, super safe, bombproof in the heaviest of traffic, beach rides. She learnt to canter on him independently in open spaces. He will follow or canter to me all day long.

My two girls do everything with him - catch him and lead him from the field (comes to call) bath him, groom/load him on the trailer. hes great to Clip/Farrier (Barefoot and great feet), will stand tacked up in his stable. he lives on fresh air and super easy to do.

We have taken Samson to the beach, funride, local show, clear rounds. Hes never spooky and super bold.

Samson has a cute jump in the school - he moves beautifully and works in a natural outline. I do ride samson although at 5ft6 look a bit silly but hes so gorgeous under saddle. i feel samson would be best suited to a family home where he can be loved by family members as he is like a dog and will lick and love you all day long. For the younger siblings he is a great starter pony. Lead rein or lead rein assisted. He is great for children to progress on from there but does need a slightly stronger rider in the school (my 8 year old rides him really well and is still very novice herself ) He is very willing.. He doesnt have a nasty bone in his body and if i could keep him I would. I have tried to get my girls to swap ponies but they wont which means he now unfortunately is looking for a new home. Equally he takes up the leg well so would be a great pony for an older child/mum share and would do really well in showing.

Super example of a mini cob with the kindest eye/personality to match. this really is a sad sale of a much loved pony - therefore home is more important than price. I was considering loaning but new pony and finances forces sale. I have100s of videos and pictures of my daughter that i can send.

One in a million!

Our lovely boy Sammy is looking for a new home due to no fault of his own. Unfortunately he isn’t suitable for my 2 year old daughter to learn to ride on.

He doesn’t have a nasty bone in his body just prefers being ridden off the lead rein. He would be fine on the lead rein with a more established jockey.

He is great to do anything on the ground with my 2 year old catches him and grooms him happily.

He hacks alone and in company. Has popped a small jump with previous owner.

He is up to date with teeth, farrier etc

Hoorah Henry

We have owned Henry for nearly 3 years and in that time he has taken my son from a nervous rider on the lead rein to confidently jumping 60cm courses.

Henry has done a little of everything with us, fun rides, hacking, SJ, XC and games.

Always in the ribbons, he has qualified for Trailblazers 2024 in the 60cm SJ.

He is currently top of our local competition centres league board in the 50cm and 60cm SJ having won the 40cm winter league this year and coming second in the 50cm winter league.

Henry is more woah than go, he is a really smart pony who knows his job. As he did for us, he is capable of stepping down for a nervous rider while building their confidence but equally capable of stepping up a gear for a more confident rider.

Henry will stand quietly on the yard to be groomed and is easy for a child to look after. He hacks alone or in company. 100% to catch, box, shoe (currently shod in front on) and clip. Never sick or sorry, we have never had to have the vet to him!

Henry is a happy chappie who always says hello when you walk on the yard and you go to catch him! Happy to be turned out as part of a herd or alone.

Absolutely heartbreaking sale as Henry is every parent’s dream pony. We are in absolutely no rush to sell him and the right home is our top priority for Henry!

Ruby has been with us 3 years and in that time she has taken both my children from 1st ridden, through pony club up to 60cm. She has, in her previous home, hunted and been successful in ridden showing.

She is safe to hack out and canters through the woods in a group jumping logs along the way

We have done all pony club activities including many camps. Ruby is good to handle, shoe, clip etc. She has a great jump on her but really only wants to go up to 60cm and my children have now moved on and need the next model up!

I cant stress how lovely Ruby is and this is a very sad sale. she is ready to teach another young rider the ropes.. She comes with all tack and rugs. Ruby is never sick or sorry. Many more pictures and Videos on request.
