Seamoor Jermey Fisher - British Riding Pony - 9 years old, 12.2hh.
Extremely pretty, sweet natured and moves beautifully. Bought by our family from the producer at 6 years old to bring on further for our children. We have enjoyed three fun and busy years with him. Fish has done a bit of everything, including mini camp with our 4 year old daughter on the lead rein (2021 summer), fun rides, a little hunting and hound exercise, show jumping training and XC schooling, hacking and Area Dressage Championships with our 7 year old daughter. He is lovely to ride, off the leg for a small child (but can take some decent leg too) but not strong at all; polite and sweet natured to handle.
Hacking: really good on his own or in company and in open spaces he will canter ahead of us with my daughter (she did this aged 6 on him and quite tiny). We have quiet hacking, and take him to the gallops too where he will canter nicely with a small child and easily come back to trot and walk. Equally, he is happy to potter on the lead rein and fit in behind the other ponies along the road/bridleway. He hunted and went on hound exercise and was very well-behaved settling really well into the routine of the day, standing at the meet and then following well.
Dressage/Flatwork: Fish is well schooled and can produce a very nice dressage test. He has scored 65-69% for my daughter when she was aged 6-7 years, competed at Keysoe in unaffiliated dressage, at pony club level and was on one of our PC teams for the Area Champs in 2021, performing well. In his previous home, with an older child, he qualified for and was highly placed at the Regional Champs. He is obedient and does a sweet, accurate and rhythmic test.
Jumping: he has competed a little at 40-50cm at SJ and jumps more confidently and boldly at home 60-80cm. He does grid work well and has XC schooled at a couple of local venues - he jumped clear with my 7 year old daughter around the Woodland Pytchley Hunter Trial at 50cm in May 2022. He goes better for a more confident and capable rider when jumping higher and is also more competitive and keen then; he can be a little green at first with the bigger, solid, fixed fences of 60cm plus; he quickly finds his rhythm though and loves it when we have taken him.
To handle: extremely polite and easy to load, groom, bath, for the farrier; a little nervous for mane and tail pulling so we sedate him for that. He responds well to a kind and gentle relationship with those who look after him. Lives in or out (rugged) and is on haylage and a small hard feed every day when he comes in. Sees physio and dentist regularly.
Reason for sale: We had thought we would keep him to produce further and concentrate on dressage with, but my 8 year old daughter is very keen and ambitious and has moved on to jump/event competitively at 70-80cm with our 14hh super-star. My 5 year old daughter has an 11.2hh schoolmaster that will suit her for at least another few years and she is not yet cantering or very confident off the lead rein. Fish has real potential still to fulfil competitively. He rides and looks like a little, smart horse, is high quality and a very loved pony.
£7000 (very nice, nearly new John Whittaker jump saddle and bridle, good quality Horseware and Thermatex rugs available by separate negotiation).
