3-year-old (born July 2023) spotted dun SPSS-graded Sports Pony mare. Home-bred as a higher-level PC/RC all-rounder prospect for a competitive amateur rider or experienced teenager, but would also suit endurance, western disciplines, mounted games or showing (e.g. spotted, part-bred Foreign Breeds, Sports Pony, part-bred native, or WHP).
Widgeon Hill Ceilidh is by Highland pony Balmoral Sport and out of the ApHC-registered and SPSS-graded mare Chamfron Chipita, who brings in versatile American Appaloosa and Quarter Horse performance bloodlines (including a dose of TB).
Ceilidh’s super conformation, movement, soundness and temperament earned her a Gold award at the August 2025 British Breeding Futurity where she was the top-scoring two-year-old at the Bromyard event. She also comfortably graded into the SPSS (Sports Pony Studbook Society) main mare studbook at the same time with a superb 18/20 temperament mark, and was simultaneously awarded a Gold Premium SPSS Youngstock evaluation, adding to her previous Premium award as a yearling in 2024.
? Registered and passported as a part-bred Highland
? Eligible for over-stamping by the UK ApHC as a part-bred
? Expected final height 14.2hh
? Substance with athleticism - 8" of good flat bone
? Vaccinations, worm control programme, and teeth all up to date
? Genetic testing: six-panel negative, and temperament gene (DRD4) G/G - "horse may be more curious than vigilant" - which is entirely consistent with Ceilidh's sensible outlook to novel objects and situations!
? Good to catch, trim feet, groom, bath, clip, lead, tie, travel etc
? Been to several large county shows - behaved beautifully
? Well-handled with a solid groundwork foundation (leading, back-up, yielding shoulders and hind-quarters)
? Used to dogs, cats, pigs and poultry underfoot
? Lives out naked 24/7, but stables happily too
? Confident by herself in stables or field - doesn't mind her friends being taken away
? Open to vet
? Ceilidh has one blue eye and one brown eye, so if you can't stand horses with blue eyes, swipe left!
Ceilidh spent the winter living out in a mixed-age herd of horses, one cow and two pigs (!) and now she is approaching her 3rd birthday we are about to commence long reining and lungeing with a view to lightly backing her this summer ready to ride away next spring. Price is sensibly negotiable to the perfect home whilst she remains un-started, but will firm up once we commence starting her under saddle, and rise as her training progresses... so if you want her well-handled but un-started at the lowest possible price, get your skates on!
Ceilidh has enough substance to comfortably carry an adult once she is mature and fit. She weighs about 475kg, so max 20% of her bodyweight will be a maximum rider weight of approx 12.5 stone (plus tack/clothing) but obviously for her early ridden work, a lighter rider will be far preferable. 9.5 stone (plus tack/clothing) will be about 15% of her bodyweight.
Please note - this advert originally stated she was to make 15/15.1. This was an error: embarrassingly, I discovered my measuring stick was not locked out to full length!
Email/Text/WhatsApp messages preferred for initial enquiries as I can't usually answer my phone during office hours.
