DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • Currently ridden by 5yr old off the lead
  • Previous Riding School & RDA pony
Experienced all round family pony that can do a number of jobs from lead rein and first ridden through to second pony. She’s sensible but forward and a fun ride. Currently ridden by my 5yr old off the lead rein including in lots of open spaces including XC (see videos) and my 4yr old on and off the lead rein. Whilst she’s small she’s also very substantial and so I have also ridden her (lightweight 5’2).

Suitable for PC, hacking, games, showjumping, showing, eventing, working hunter (1st, 2nd and Reserve Champion last time out). She will turn her hoof to most things!

Used in a riding school for years including RDA. The riding school closed down which is the only reason why she was sold.

Easy person to look after - currently out 24/7 with or without company. Barefoot. Up to date with teeth, vaccinations, worm counts and just fed a balancer once a day. I’ll start to give her some hay outside shortly.

Comes with tack and rugs.

LEAD REIN, SHOW PONY OR SMALL ADULTS SUPERSTAR

Ref #: 378382

  • Very safe slow and steady for a lead rein
  • Moves beautifully and would excel if prepared for a show home
  • Extremely talented if has a strong rider

This pony can sort of do it all - so depending on what you are looking for he may be just what you need.

Stable name: Prince
Passport name: Chanwin Celtic Garland
Sire: Millcroft Beluga (by Millcroft / Royal Lustre x Thornwood Royalist)
Dam: Hilin Garland (by top sire Hilin Carnedd, a Royal Welsh champion and WPCS sire-ratings winner)

Very quiet and needs lots of kicking so either suited to a lead rein OR a stronger more competitive rider as he has the ability but you have to MAKE him work.

Very safe and reliable, does not buck or rear. Happily wobbles about in trot round the fields, out hacking all day long - if out in open space could race another pony in canter.

Very slow and steady in the arena - great to teach someone to canter on, goes like a rocking horse.

Lovely jump and lots of ability. Current owner tried to take BS and whilst he has all the ability she doesn't have the strength to get results.

Would do a fabulous dressage test for a stronger rider & I believe he would be excellent for a showing home.

If you're little and you don't want to kick he's not for you! If you're a light adult and want a flashy pony I find him very easy but you need to ride effectively and not bang and kick about to bring out his best.

Based at Queenz Equestrian. Was previously owned by Queenz, client purchased him and kept him at Queenz, rider now moving on to BS pony with more experience.

  • Ideal Lead Rein - First Pony
  • Any parents ideal pony
This is an extremely sad sale, one weren't expecting to do for a couple more years. We have owned Rocky since February 2024, Rocky was purchased for our granddaughter who at the time was coming off 11.2 section A.

Sadly our granddaughter has grown quickly in the last year and now wants something bigger that will take her forward for the next 3/4 years.

Rocky is the most kindest pony and since owning him he hasn't put a foot wrong.

He is good in groups and is not fast or fizzy. Rocky is any parent's ideal dream pony.

Rocky is 9 years old and prior to us owning had been a companion pony during COVID with his previous owner. We were also advised by his previous owner he was gelded late.

Rocky will hack, he's competed at Dressage and always comes home with a frilly. He has done Pony club. & rallies. This summer he did pony club camp where they did jumping and XC training he was a star in open space's, flat work. Our granddaughter also has weekly lessons.

Rocky has given our granddaughter the confidence to jump round a 30cm class off lead rein and also 40/50 where its timed. We are regular visitors to GW Equine which is where our granddaughter has gained her confidence from.

He has also been jumping to competitions at Wood Farm & Croton, and comes home with frillies. I am sure he will go further with his new jockey.

I believe that Rocky would suitable for lead rein or a child who is coming off lead rein and wants to be more independent without the worry that he is too fizzy or fast. He is any parent's dream pony.

Rocky is up to date with his jabs, due March 26, barefoot and has regular trims with our farrier. When he first came to us he was a bit unsure about loading but we've done a lot of work with him and he loads in a 3.5t.

Rocky lives out overnight in the Summer, we stable him in Winter. He goes out in a herd with other geldings.

Please no time wasters as this is a difficult sale.

10* home is needed for this pony, homes will be vetted

Rocky will come with saddle, bridle and full wardrobe of rugs.

£6,000. ono.

Open to vetting.

Based Fair Oak, Southampton.

I work from home so please if I don't answer leave me a message and I will call you back.

Genuine Hard Sort After Kids Pony

Ref #: 391489
  • Super Safe Kids Pony in every aspect

£4,500 ONO
  • Cob
  • Piebald
  • Mare
  • 6 years
  • 13 hands
  • Super Safe Kids Pony in every aspect
  • Amazing temperament and confirmation
  • Traditional and Correct in shafts also

Beauty is a genuine little mare and a Correct model of a pony. Great confirmation and movement been straight and true.

She has done a little bit of everything since been with us, organised pleasure drives with the kids, picnic hacks through the woods a little Potter in the school and a whole load of been painted and pampered! Beauty will stand anywhere tied to new brushed and fussed aswel as outside the pub for a drink and a packet of crisps!

She's 110% in the heaviest of traffic either ridden or driven will lead past any traffic.

She stands to be mounted or when driven will stand at road ends and traffic lights! She genuinely has just seen a little of everything, been exposed in all sorts of different settings and never getting ruffled. She's kid safe and friendly good on the ground and easy to handle.

Snaffle mouthed at all times she leads of the ground, of another pony or off a bike also but willing enough to go on her own or off in front She's happy where ever she's placed.

She's never bucked, reared or gotten strong. With a little schooling i think she would excel in the show ring as she's a lovely head carriage and 3 sweet paces but my children are a little small to put this work in.

She loads on a trailer or wagon, is always first at the gate to catch and come in. Good with the farrier and to clip jjsy easy and hassle free on the yard.

She's seen hounds and never batted an eye, clipped out I think she'd make a fab hunting pony.

She really is a lovely pony that could go and do any job she's asked all the makings but not spoilt in any way. I habe plenty of videos and pictures of her in different situations I can send on request.

She's shod and in regular light work but with the lights drawing in and a young family she just isnt going to get the time she deserves, she's too much of a willing canvas to sit ib the field this winter and be wasted!

We have owned Zeus for 18 months. We were first time horse owners and he was our daughter’s first pony at the age of 9.

He has been a pleasure to own. He has been handled and ridden by our now 10 year old.

Zeus has been out and about and done a bit of everything. We have been active members of the pony club, including rallies and Camp.He has competed in local Dressage /Show Jumping Competitions. Done some XC, beach rides and on previous yard hacked out alone to Herrington park. Currently hacks round the farm including fields alone or company.

Always been safe and sensible for our little girl.

Dottie

Sad sale of the beautiful dot on behalf of client due to riders legs being too long! She has been hoof perfect with every rider we’ve put on her. From novice adults out hacking to xc with confident teen. She will turn her hoof and adapt to the rider. Leaving everyone with a smile.

Dottie loves to cruise around the countryside she is regularly hacked out by myself bumbling around. Excellent in traffic. Equally as happy to go in a group. She has gone in a group with teenagers filming tik toks, jumping things they probably shouldn’t be and always bring them home safe. Happy to go front, back or middle. Excellent brakes.

She has 3 lovely paces in the school and definently has the potential to show. Has been ridden bareback. Not phased by fillers. Happy to pop a cross or jump a bigger fence if kicked on.

Currently stabled at night but happy to live out. A real genuine, easy cob that lives on fresh air. She is barefoot with solid feet.

5 star home only.
Delivery available.

Henry (6 in May 2026) Fieldcote Halo Henry. Registered Welsh A with fantastic bloodlines.

He has proven to be an unflappable lead rein pony. My novice 8 year old has worked on his schooling off the lead the past 6 months and he is unbelievable off the lead to hack, canters steadily behind another horse, you can lead him off a bigger one. However, he doesn’t love school work off the lead as he is lazy but will happily follow in a group Lesson perfectly in all 3 paces this area needs more work to make him a true FR and to build his confidence without a leader.

He would suit a small child learning, who could ride alongside Mums horse or a family where an older sibling can lead in front and school. He will follow to the end of the earth and safely take care of a small person.

I have 100’s of videos showing him off the lead and he is never stupid, he just has one steady gear and that’s his comfort zone. He will go for an older child in the school but it is hard on the legs for small people.

Home more important than price. He’s good do in all areas. He does need front shoes on to cope with the different ground.

Please contact me for more info. We would love to keep him forever but financially it’s not doable and my son has stepped up to the next pony.

Up to date with Vac/teeth/saddle/back. Sold with saddle.

Archie is an absolutely stunning Palomino Registered Welsh Section B 128cm 6yrs Gelding.

By Cadlanvalley Georgie Boy, Newtonhill Naughty Boy.

He's had a great summer of pony club rallies, working hunter, show jumping, cross country, first ridden, equitation, even some PC games!

Archie has been ridden by both my 9 year old and 13 year old daughters, which means
he's really had a good education for a 6 yr old!
He has more to learn, but has shown a great attitude to everything we've done with him.

Archie is now ready to progress in any discipline, or he would be equally happy as a lovely pony club pony for a child. We've done a whole summer of pony club activities and he' been fantastic fun for my girls to learn on. He will take it steady or go up a gear when the rider is ready!

Archie is ridden in a snaffle, and is safe at the beach. He will go behind or in front in open fields when my daughters take him for a canter out.

He has three flashy paces, and always scores highly at PC dressage comps, coping well with busy shows.

Archie has a careful scopey jump, with a correct technique, very brave to fillers. Jumping lots of double clears and winning rosettes. Jumping 1.10m at home with ease! So lots in the tank for the future if your jockey wants to win!

He has super conformation and is a real head turner, the judges love him. He could make a top level first ridden.

He's good to hack, in traffic, to box, shoe and clip.
Genuine reason for sale. My daughter has now got three 128cm ponies as weve been given my neices. We'd love to keep Archie, but my husband isn't in agreement and we're building an arena so I can't push it!

Open to vet. Please call for a chat to see if Archie might suit your child. Bridle and done rugs included.

Elsie has been sold to a lovely, new home.

We bought Elsie when my daughter was 9 in March 2024, she had been bucked off a previous pony a few times and was reluctant to canter and would only jump in trot. Elsie restored her confidence and love of riding and soon she was happily cantering- and jumping courses- all in canter too. They have done lots and lots of RC and unaffiliated shows, mainly SJ and WH- tots classes, initially x poles and 30cm- then 40 and 50cm. They usually win or are highly placed- they have a huge overflowing box of rosettes and sashes.

Elsie has also done 3 stay away camps and PC camp where Isabella looked after Elsie by herself. She excels at polework clinics and can turn her hoof to any layout! She has done lots of WH, qualified for Stars 2024, jumped clear around a very spooky course but a rider error meant no placing sadly after a beautiful show!
Isabella can safely ride with no stirrups on Elsie and we have also done exercises with both no stirrups and no reins. She is also fine with all PC games equipment although this is not our thing. Elsie is a steady pony who ticks along on a consistent rhythm, she has an easy canter to sit to and this has been wonderful for Isabella to jump her first courses on.

We are looking for another little person just like my daughter, for Elsie. Someone who can already w,t, canter and pop a fence who would like to start going to shows & camp; having fun on a lovely, sensible pony. Elsie has been a joy to us in every way and we are looking for a special home for her. My daughter already has her next pony and we are in no rush to sell Elsie, we are looking for the perfect home. She can pull riding school faces in the stable, but we ignore these, pat her and she pricks her ears- Isabella does everything with her and Elsie loves a fuss, grooming & a pamper. My daughter has done PC rallies and passed her D+ test with Elsie. Isabella has had a tonne of lessons & camps on this amazing pony and I can offer a list of instructors who I’m sure would give a glowing reference.

Dan is the best pony you can find. He's ridden by complete beginners up to competent teens jumping 80cm rounds.

He's an easy push button pony making him the perfect school master for a novice child but will step it up as they improve.

He takes up the leg well and is quite often ridden by small adults too.

He has no vices, he's easy to catch, load, easy with the farrier etc. Daily handled by children.

He's competed lately at the sunshine tour just missing the ribbons by one place!

While there he was perfectly behaved in every way.

He's done dressage, show jumping, cross country, sponsored rides, beach rides, pony club and pony parties.

He's brilliant hacking and not fazed by anything.

He's barefoot and can live in or out. Currently living out with other geldings (I don't have any mares)

He's up to date with physio, jabs, teeth, everything.

We've owned Dan for the past 2 years and only selling as his main rider has now got her own bigger pony.

Currently fit and ready to be enjoyed by a new best friend.

Loads and loads of videos on request.

Based near Beaconsfield south Bucks

Good facilities to try.

5* home only and would love to keep in contact as would his old owner.

Paddy

13.1 approx, rising 5 gelding.

The definition of wise beyond his years, as safe and kind as they come.

Has been to pony club camp and PC shows this summer of which references can be provided.

Has been autumn hunting and is foot perfect in a large group, with hounds, stands and pops a rail.

Snaffle mouthed, never bucked or reared or done anything malicious.

Been ridden and handled by children of varying ages. Can be a typical cheeky pony but never malicious, needs experienced home even if jockey is lacking experience.

Good to do in all ways- trim, catch, clip, bath, load etc.

Would love him to go to a fun all round home where he can be someone’s best friend - a child or a small adult, everyone who rides him just has fun and he puts a smile on thier face!

Currently living out, fit and ready to go.

Plenty more pics and vids available.

Northamptonshire based. Home important! Can come with his rugs.

Price negotiable to right home, needs to be sold otherwise will be turned away.

Beauty is a kind, genuine 15 yr old mare.

She has been in the same home for 7 years, and genuinely outgrown. We have had her for the summer to have some fun on and build my god daughters confidence but very sadly she is now looking for her next long term family home.

She is an uncomplicated ride, not a total first pony as she is fairly forward going but she isn’t a buzzy pony, she’s never bucked or reared, she doesn’t get silly, she is just fairly forward off the leg and need constant nagging to go! That said she’s not fast unless you make her go! She is a fairly sporty model so can be competitive if asked!

She is always ridden in a snaffle and has excellent brakes! She has a very soft mouth and her riders do not feel out of control or worried. She has been ridden by novice nervous friends.

She is best suited to a rider who can already trot and canter and now wants to get out to pony club and local shows and have fun. She would happily take you round the NSEA showjumping and help to get a little person confident and out competing.

Last weekend she had a 1st and a 2nd Arena Eventing with a new rider who borrowed her for competition experience. She is super chilled in the warm up and does not need hours of working in. She has a scopey jump and comfortable pops round 75cm and will go bigger with a capable rider - she’s jumped over 1 metre 20 in chase me Charlie!

She has hunted, been on fun rides, beach rides, and various other things. She is good to hack alone and with others.

She lives in or out, despite being a quality type she happily winters out with rug on. No known health issues, is vaccinated and currently shod as we have stony hacking.

Loads and travels in anything! She is just a lovely loving pony to have around.

Needs a loving new home and smaller rider for her next chapter of adventures. She has stacks of personality and loves her humans and we are looking for the very best of homes for her.

She comes with her tack and loads of nice Amigo rugs. Price is negotiable as we would like to see her happy and loved in her new home not standing in a cold boring wintery field without the TLC and attention she really does deserve.

Hants/Wilts border with good trial facilities but happy to take to arena hire etc too
