He’s totally wasted with is as my son isn’t interested

Millquoy Jack The Lad
Age: 8yo gelding
Breed: Shetland Large Standard with Shetland Pony Stud Book
Height: 10.2hh / 42 inches approx.
Colour: Black

Sad sale of our much-loved Shetland, Jack, who is now looking for his next little person to enjoy and love him as much as we have.

Jack has a wonderfully laid-back temperament and is fantastic with children — he adores fuss and attention. He’s excellent to handle in every way, great with other ponies, and always aims to please.

We’ve owned Jack since he was a 4yo — he was backed with us and was ridden by my niece, who was just 4 at the time. He has taken everything in his stride and been a true family favourite being a super pony for several families in the Orkney pony club.

Jack is brilliant on the lead rein and just as good as a first pony for little ones learning to ride off the lead. He’s also happy to step it up for older children and has taken part in games teams. He’s competed successfully in showing, including the Royal Highland Show as a 5yo on the lead rein with my niece. Jack has taken part in numerous Orkney Pony Club activities, camps, and rallies, and has represented both the junior and senior teams — completely unphased by all the equipment and atmosphere.

He is also excellent to hack, both alone and in company, and is 100% with all traffic and farm machinery. He’s even taken part in common rides, always behaving impeccably.

Jack has no vices or health issues, no history of laminitis, and is barefoot. He’s easy to manage and will happily live in or out all year round.

He has excelled in showing at local and county level, always beautifully behaved and a pleasure to have around.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

11.2hh 14 year old Registered Welsh Sec A Mare by Littlewern Lyric out of a Broadpool Vintage Dam

Our lovely little Merrylegs is ready to move on and give another child heaps of fun as my son is ready for the next stage up. She is a real sweet little character, used to a busy home environment we live on a farm and is used to turkeys, chickens, pheasants you name it! She is a lovely mover and has lots of presence in the ring.

She is excellent on the lead rein, very mannerly and will look after tiny tots but also jump and move up a gear on the lead rein for older children. My son hacks her out off the lead. You can also lead her from another horse out hacking, we’ve done that a lot. A bigger child can go off the lead rein in all 3 paces annd and pop a jump carefully.

She has done everything PC rallies, local shows, lead rein m&m (locally), miles and miles of hacking, hunting, clinics and lessons. She is a real all rounder and a perfect first pony to develop on and off the lead rein.

She loads well, is good to clip, not problem for the farrier has not had lami or any other illnesses. She is up to date with teeth, working and farrier.

Comes with her full wardrobe and tack!

Excellent home only and only for sale as we have limited room at home.

SAINT HARLEY - The most amazing cob you could ever wish for – Harley is truly one in a million!

Harley is the type of cob everyone is searching for but so few ever find. He’s safe, sensible, willing and kind, with just the right amount of fun.

Bombproof in traffic – tractors, lorries, bikes, he takes it all in his stride.

Fabulous jump – happily popping a course of 70cm with us, We really feel he has a lot more jump to offer.

Totally versatile – the sort of cob that will go to a show, a fun ride, Pony Club camp, or go swimming in the sea.

Safe enough for the whole family – your child could go off to Pony Club and be “safe as houses,” or you could throw him on the trailer and enjoy a day out exploring new hacks.

Endlessly reliable – equally happy to be left in the field for a few days and then go for a 3-hour solo hack without putting a foot wrong.

The sweetest gentleman – kind, cuddly and an absolute dream to have around.

Harley really is the ultimate allrounder – the type you could trust with your most precious cargo, yet still have endless fun on yourself. He would suit a child, teenager, or small adult looking for a best friend to make memories with.

Harley is the cob you could put anyone on and know they’ll come home smiling. He’s the kind you can drag out of the field, pop on the trailer, and head straight to a show or a fun ride without a second thought. Truly, a cob you can trust with your heart.

I wish I could find 100 Harley’s

This is an extremely sad sale, one weren't expecting to do for a couple more years. We have owned Rocky since February 2024, Rocky was purchased for our granddaughter who at the time was coming off 11.2 section A.

Sadly our granddaughter has grown quickly in the last year and now wants something bigger that will take her forward for the next 3/4 years.

Rocky is the most kindest pony and since owning him he hasn't put a foot wrong.

He is good in groups and is not fast or fizzy. Rocky is any parent's ideal dream pony.

Rocky is 9 years old and prior to us owning had been a companion pony during COVID with his previous owner. We were also advised by his previous owner he was gelded late.

Rocky will hack, he's competed at Dressage and always comes home with a frilly. He has done Pony club. & rallies. This summer he did pony club camp where they did jumping and XC training he was a star in open space's, flat work. Our granddaughter also has weekly lessons.

Rocky has given our granddaughter the confidence to jump round a 30cm class off lead rein and also 40/50 where its timed. We are regular visitors to GW Equine which is where our granddaughter has gained her confidence from.

He has also been jumping to competitions at Wood Farm & Croton, and comes home with frillies. I am sure he will go further with his new jockey.

I believe that Rocky would suitable for lead rein or a child who is coming off lead rein and wants to be more independent without the worry that he is too fizzy or fast. He is any parent's dream pony.

Rocky is up to date with his jabs, due March 26, barefoot and has regular trims with our farrier. When he first came to us he was a bit unsure about loading but we've done a lot of work with him and he loads in a 3.5t.

Rocky lives out overnight in the Summer, we stable him in Winter. He goes out in a herd with other geldings.

Please no time wasters as this is a difficult sale.

10* home is needed for this pony, homes will be vetted

Rocky will come with saddle, bridle and full wardrobe of rugs.

£6,000. ono.

Open to vetting.

Based Fair Oak, Southampton.

I work from home so please if I don't answer leave me a message and I will call you back.

The perfect lead rein or first ridden. One in a million pony.

A very genuine sale

Taken part in all riding club activities and been very successful within the show ring.

Really steady in any environment, doesn’t need plugs/calmers, doesn’t need any working in at shows. Happy with dogs and other animals around her great in any traffic and in howling wind or sideways rain.

Happy to be alone or in company in any environment. No quirks or vices, and never sick or sorry. Always in the ribbons wherever she goes and admired by all.

River recently returned from a loan where she has built a little girls confidence just off the lead rein. She has gone from being nervous to confidently riding alone in all riding club activities all with the biggest smile on her face.

You can do everything with her totally autonomously and can easily manoeuvre her around under saddle. She loves plodding around but equally will step it up a gear to suit her riders ability. She is perfect for young handler classes for tiny tots, happy to be led around anywhere and is great at standing around and will stand for hours to be groomed

She hacks out alone or in company and is great in open spaces

Princess Polly – 12yo, 12.2hh British Riding Pony
The ultimate all-rounder with show ring sparkle and a heart of gold

Polly is the most perfect little princess pony – a true gem with flicky toes and elegant movement that would turn heads in the show ring. But don’t be fooled by her dainty looks – she’s bold, brave, and absolutely loving her jumping! We’ve recently started popping her round some bigger courses and she’s taken to it like a duck to water – never stops, always keen, and clearly having the time of her life.

She is forward off the leg and will take a child into a fence, she's not at all sharp and is genuinely one of my most favourite ponies we've ever had (hence keeping her for months on end), I actually want to keep her but have realised that a grown woman keeping a tiny pony as a pet when she could be being loved by a child is wasting her completely and also a little ridiculous.

She hacks out confidently both alone and in company and is a joy to have on the yard. Polly comes to call, loves fuss, and is genuinely part of the family – my little pet. It’s only because I have no reason to keep her as a pet that I’m considering letting her go, and I’ll only do so for the right home. There’s absolutely no rush.

Polly would suit a little girl wanting to learn the ropes or a competitive child or small teen looking for a pony to do a bit of everything – showing, jumping, hacking, and loving. She’s ready to shine and deserves someone who’ll adore her as much as we do.

Bayview Full of Joy registered Shetland pony mare who I believe has bred in the past. Joy has been part of our family for nearly 5 years. She is such an amazing little pony who has brought so much happiness and made the most amazing memories.

Such a loving pony who loves to be groomed and sparkle sprayed she is used to all farm machinery and dogs and chickens. She has shown extremely successfully in lead rein taking us all over Scotland.

Joy will hack any where from our big fields to the beach off the lead and ride along side my stallion . She will work away nicely in the school off and on the lead .

Fully vaccinated she has never had any health issues no laminitis.

My daughter is now wanting to do jumping and focusing on her sec a so we feel now Joy would enjoy making a new friendship with a little person.

She will come with bridle and pad and rugs

My daughter is keen to pursue her jumping/working hunter further so a pony that has been there, done it and not phased by fillers etc.

Please no youngsters/green or project ponies.

Wonderful schoolmaster! Eddie has been there and done that. He has done everything from being a lead rein pony to a pony club pony.

Eddie has been schooled well on the flat. He would do a lovely dressage test or be perfect for showing. He has lovely paces and works easily in a soft frame. Previously he was shown at royal Windsor when he was younger. He also did a lot of dressage in a previous home.

Eddie has done many pony club camps over the years, including with his current owner. He is always well behaved! He has also done all pc activities and even did some pony racing in a previous home.

Eddie is great to hack and hacks both alone and in company. He has hacked all around Windsor great park with his current owners. He has seen farm machinery and cattle too. As his owner has direct access in to Windsor great park they have not needed to do road work. I’ve taken him down the main road where he was very well behaved and good in traffic.

Eddie has jumped both SJ and XC to 60cm with previous owners, with his current family he has done less jumping and more hacking and flatwork.

Eddie is wonderful to do on the ground. His child can do everything with him. He’s very polite to handle. Good for farrier, clipping and loading.

Seen a livery

We have had tommy for 3 years since my daughter was 6 and he has taught her lots in the time we have had him, My daughter is now 9 and sadly ready for the next stage pony and Tommy is more suited to a first ridden/ lead rein which leads to this heartbreaking sale

Tommy is brilliant out hacking and on the roads, Alone or in company, He has always looked after my daughter, He can be lead off of another horse too

He steps up or down depending on the rider / can be more of a kick along for a smaller child or more forward for a bigger child/ teenager

Will happily pop a jump and has jumped up to about 60cm with an older child whilst with us and pops a small jump for my daughter nicely

He has done a bit of everything with us and been to plenty of shows, doing jumping and showing both on and off the lead rein.

He is really good to lunge / free lunge and long reining

Tommy loads well and travels good

Can be ticklish to be clipped/  he prefers smaller clippers with less vibration so we have been using the liveryman harmony which work well for him / we have never clipped his feathers off or done a full head clip so not sure what he would be like with these

he is good for the Farrier and is barefoot

he is up to date with dentist/ farrier/ physio/ worming

Tommy will only go to an experienced and knowledgeable 5 star home

Tack and rugs can come with him at an extra cost to be negotiated

Endless pictures and videos which can be sent upon request
