Wanted: Ponies

Searching For Our Daughter's Next Best Friend

To Enjoy Pleasure Rides, Pony Club & Low Level Adventures

Ref #: 284729
  • Ideally 13.2 - 14hh
  • Trustworthy, Kind Natured, Best Friend Type
  • Experienced & Loving Family Home Offered
  • Ideally 13.2 - 14hh
  • Trustworthy, Kind Natured, Best Friend Type
  • Experienced & Loving Family Home Offered

Sadly, our daughter has outgrown her beautiful first pony (he will be staying with us). We are now beginning our search for a pony who is the next step up to join our family & become our daughter’s best friend for adventures new!

Our horses are kept at home with us so the children are involved in all aspects of their daily care. Therefore, it is hugely important that we find a trustworthy, kind natured character to be the face waiting behind the garden gate each morning!

Over the last 3 years our daughter has progressed well with her current pony but he is generally more of a kick along type. We are searching for a pony who will be a gentle next step up, more responsive & less of a kick along but nothing too forward or whizzy.

We offer an experienced, loving, home where the horses are treated as part of the family. We live in a rural area so do not see a great deal of traffic, however, what we usually meet are cyclists & tractors so the new pony must be confident passing farm machinery out hacking. Our daughter will often be hacking alone (with someone on a bike) so the pony would need to be happy without the company of another horse when riding out from home. We will also be meeting friends for forest rides & attending organised pleasure rides so he/she needs to remain sane & sensible out in open spaces with company too. I appreciate no pony is perfect, her current pony certainly is not but all I ask is that any quirks are disclosed please. Our daughter is used to the odd half-hearted buck & stubborn pony behaviour but nothing unsafe that would put them in danger or ruin her confidence.

Our daughter has popped over small jumps with her current pony but it isn’t really his thing! She is very keen to progress with a pony who enjoys jumping & who she can take to local shows, cross country courses & join pony club with. We are not particularly competitive & enjoy low key adventures & fun days too, so a world beater is not needed. We would not be suited to a pony who requires riding every day to keep safe & sane as we quite are laid back & equally happy pootling out for hacks from home! New pony needs to be good to load onto a trailer as we often travel to enjoy the lovely forest hacks we have nearby.

We are based in Norfolk but would be happy to travel up to around 2 hours. We would welcome home checks & provide refences if required, also happy to keep in touch.

Sorry, no dealers please.

Looking for dressage horse to loan

Small lady Para Grade 4 rider

Ref #: 284437

  • Small dressage horse about 15’2”
  • Don’t mind older horse
  • To run alongside current youngster

Small lady dressage rider looking for sensible dressage pony / small horse to run alongside her current youngster after the loss of her National Para Dressage Champion earlier this year

Tyler was my horse of a lifetime and sadly went lame at the end of first lockdown July 2020. Despite my vets best efforts he never came back into work and was retired. I bought Holly in December 2020 as a just backed 4 year old and she will not be ready for me to take into Para competition for some time. So I’m trying to fill the gap with a loan horse

I was Grade 5 bronze champion in 2019 and 2020. Since then I’ve been regraded to grade 4. I have a complicated medical history but basically have a left sided weakness that most people find imperceptible

I have competed up to Medium level dressage and grade 4 tests go from Prelim to Ele/ Med type tests. I suppose I’m basically looking for a schoolmaster type dressage horse whose owner is interested in helping a Para get her International ride whilst the baby is brought on

The loan horse must be easy for me to look after, easy to load and travel, not drag me down the field and hack on their own/ in company. I have regular physio and 5 weekly farrier visits

My horses want for nothing

My potential loan horse will live at home with me.

I have pretty good facilities including stables and my own 20x40 m arena. My property has direct access onto a bridleway.

References can be provided if necessary

Wanted - a special PC second pony type for our nearly 9 year old daughter who has now outgrown her current superstar of a pony (so there are big shoes to fill )- looking for a 12.1 - 13 HH nothing too young or green, pony needs to know their job and be honest and safe. Rider is capable but will be nervous with anything too fast / strong so temperament is paramount- no bucking/rearing etc. We are not looking for the flashiest pony - instead a genuine and quality friend is worth so much more to us.

The Pony will be doing all Pony club activities, as well as hacking in the beautiful forest around our farm / beach rides / dressage / SJ / XC - a varied life. The pony will need to be reliable and trustworthy in big open spaces. My Daugther has regular weekly lessons as well attending PC rallies etc.

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.
