Broodmares: Proven

Lovely little mare

Great fun and super jumping project for the right person

Ref #: 285044
  • Allrounder
  • Possible Mothers and daughter share
£6,000
  • Connemara Part Bred
  • Grey
  • Mare
  • 9 years
  • 14.1 hands
  • Allrounder
  • Possible Mothers and daughter share

Poppy lives on a farm and has seen livestock and machinery and never bats an eyelid.

Poppy is 9yrs old and was backed and ridden aged 4, then she became a successful broodmare.

She bred 3 beautiful foals so is very low mileage.

Poppy loads easily in the trailer and travels with no issues.

She's a gem with the farrier, vet and bathing. Currently barefoot and lives in or out with no issues.

Poppy would suit a confident, competent rider. She is not a novice ride.

Poppy has the same steady rhythm in an arena or in an open field and has never run away with anyone or been spooky.

She has mainly been used to improve her current riders flatwork however her previous owners started her jumping career last year where she showed great potential.

I'm sure she'll make a great all rounder.

Sadly for sale due to a change of circumstances. (New baby has arrived)

£6k including tack, rug and numnah.

  • Free long term loan of Welsh D Mare.

She has recently been professionally broken to ride and ridden away over 3 months and is now back home with us just north of Harrogate having a break. The photo doesn't do her justice, she is very, very pretty. She can't be tried with me as she is not in work now and we don't have suitable trial facilities. She has successfully reared two Sec D filly foals and I no longer have any use for her having owned her since she was a foal. We are also too tall and heavy to ride her.

She would suit an experienced small adult or teenager. She has very mild sweet itch which is controlled by twice daily fly repellent and living in a windy field in the Yorkshire Dales, it may be worse if she has to live at a lower level. My ideal home for her would be on a family farm with other horses, where she can live out 24/7 and winter out (she will wear a rug) and go hunting and/or do pony club activities. She has always run outside, all year around in a herd on our farm and I won't let her go to a home where she must live on her own or live inside - no livery yards either. She will not go to a home where she is ridden in a school a lot so you must have good hacking available.

She is a typical Welsh cob and a lovely character. Being broken to ride a bit late, she can be a little argumentative on occasion but I am told she can be made to get on with it without bucking, rearing or running away. She is therefore not suitable for novices/experienced novices, she needs someone to send her forward and make her get on with her job but she is quite safe. She still needs to learn to hack out and get used to traffic and pop a fence. She has been a bit difficult to bridle so would need some patience on that front but will most likely get over it in time (head collar is no problem).

She is good to load in our huge metal Ifor Williams cattle trailer but has never travelled tied up or been in a partitioned trailer. Good with the farrier but has not yet been shod. Needs someone who can put a few weeks of effort in and a lovely pony will emerge. She is easy to catch, lets you cover her in fly spray in the field without being caught and you can put a turnout rug on her in a gale, she's pretty solid and not a flighty sort at all but is a cheeky Welshie and sharp on occasion. I don't have any tack for her but might be able to assist. Looking for a home preferably no further than an hour from Harrogate but must stay in Yorkshire or the near North East or North West, I will not budge on this, please don't waste a call if you are out of the area.

Anybody who is interested will be thoroughly checked out and a loan agreement and liability insurance will need to be in place. I am ideally looking for a long term home but happy for a teenager to outgrow her and I'll happily have her back again for reloaning.

If anyone is interested and has any queries, the best thing to do is to ring and have a chat (after 6pm is usually best or leave me a voice message only and I'll call back). Text messages will not be replied to.

Exceptional talented pony

Exceptionally talented little pony who will excel in any discipline.

6 years old, 12.2hh (127cm) bay mare by Hilin Carnedd out of Dinarthall Millennium Girl.

Winnie is schooling sweetly on the flat. She is very straight, moves for fun and has excellent conformation.

She has schooled around a full course of fences proving to be extremely scopey and brave, not phased by fillers etc. Would definitely excel as a WHP or pure show jumper.

Last year bred a stunning palomino colt foal by Cadlanvalley Midas and proved to be a great mother.

Good to catch, load, travel, with farrier etc.

Only for sale due to reducing numbers.

Based in North Wales
