Proud breeders of genuine, versatile horses with talent, temperament, trainability and true beauty.

We aim to breed beautiful horses of  quality who prove versatile, capable and willing whatever the discipline; when they bring the happiness and pride to their owners that we have built our reputation on and are a pleasure to deal with in all ways..... We have achieved what we set out to do.

From day one our horses are cared for and treated as individuals with careful attention to nutrition, handling, health and happiness. We are not a hobby stud, GFS is a dedicated stud of excellent reputation breeding warmblood sporthorses of physical quality, proven competition bloodlines, exceptional temperament and true versatility for both amateur and professional riders.  As such our full focus is on producing young horses correctly and in a professional environment that is beneficial to their physical and mental wellbeing. We are now based in Devon and our new home has outstanding facilities for both rearing youngstock on lush, well fenced pastures with room to gallop and play in herds as nature intended.  Our breeding program is one that has been carefully developed in line with exactly what we intend to breed and consistent in the type and character that we strive to produce. Our stallions are on site and always delighted to meet and greet visitors. Very often we also have the grand dams and or sires here too as well as similarly bred youngstock from which to judge in accordance with our breeding goals.

We hope you can find everything you were hoping to to discover about the Stud and our horses on these pages -  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at gfssporthorses@gmail.com.

We are always happy to answer initial queries by email but ultimately prefer the more personal telephone call instead of batting questions to and fro over many days!

Nicarado (Diarado x Corland/Caratino Glory) - In foal to the rising star and 1.60 show jumping stallion Baloutaire (Balout de Rouet x Chacco Blue!/Voltaire)

This is a massive opportunity for a serious breeder looking not only for a world class broodmare, but one who is in foal to an absolutely outstanding stallion.

Our beautiful Nicarado stands at 16.1hh and is eight years old. She is a lovely mare to have on the yard, being mannerly and very sweet natured. This is a hugely athletic mare, she moves absolutely beautifully and has a huge effortless jump. She is vice free and easy to deal with in every way and in any situation. She has had an absolutely stunning colt with us by Conthalou who is available to view currently and is also for sale. She had been under saddle prior to injury but is completely recovered and sound.

She is by the great Diarado who is number one for the world ranking stallions for eventing and eleven for show jumping!

Diarado is one of the most popular, and highest-ranked, stallions in Germany, and he impresses with exemplary ease at the jump, with superior scope, a willingness to perform that is second to none, maneuverability and intelligence; attributes that are necessary for today’s technical courses. Diarado is not only popular as a sire of show jumpers, but also as a sire of eventers; he always passes on his beautiful and correct type and conformation, which is so important for long-term soundness and durability. He was in sixth place on the 2017 BE Sire Rankings for 4-8 year-old offspring.

His sire, Diamant de Semilly topped the WBFSH Sire Rankings for the second time in 2016, having been inside the top ten since 2012. During his career, he was French national champion and WEG team gold medallist in 2002, and European team silver medallist in 2003.

Her dam sire, Corland is from the famous Holsteiner Line 104A, which goes directly back to Retsina, a two-time winner of the Hamburg Derby.

Corland had an impressive career under W.J. van der Schans. At the European Championship, Corland proved to all that he belongs in the category ‘the best in the world’. In Nation’s Cup series, he won both qualifiers and had the best results of the Nation’s competition clocking the fastest clear round. In the finals, he was 9th. Additionally, there were the following results: 2nd GP Rotterdam, 4th GP’s Oslo and Den Bosch, 5th GP’s Bordeaux and Maastricht, 6th GP Helsinki, 7th GP’s Zuidlaren, La Baule and Calgary.

He also was Champion of the Benelux in The Hague, 7th in the World Cup of Verona and 2nd in ‘The Sires of the World’ in Lanaken.

Her dam was out of a Caretino Glory mare whose back pedigree is packed with the key names in jumping breeding – Cor De La Bryere, Ramiro, Gotthard. Further investigation of his pedigree goes some way to explaining why he passes on both quality and better than average movement.

His sire Cheenook was trained to Grand Prix level dressage, and was known for his flamboyant movement despite his Holstein jumping pedigree. In Germany alone he has 56 offspring competing at S level show jumping and 16 at S level dressage. Cheenook’s full sisters produced the decent show jumpers Cocu who represented the USA at the World Equestrian Games and Carino who also competed at 5* level.

This mare is of a quality rarely seen in dilute breeding. She is beautifully bred for eventing and would have been a sensational prospect had injury not stopped her. Her movement is exceptional and her temperament is tremendous.

She is a career broodmare and her foals to date have without exception been incredible; all tall, athletic and graceful, they have had superb temperaments and been of great beauty. They have all sold immediately and mostly overseas to professional homes. She has a son who is Approved with Oldenburg and AES who both stands and competes in the US. She is in foal for 2026 to the same stallion, our own GFS Lord of the Dance who is also the sire of GFS Man in the Moon, standing in Ireland.

Charisma has been with us since weaning. Purchased from Germany, she was bred as a serious eventing prospect. Her sire Camaro is one of only two Elite coloured Trakehner stallions. Twice a Young Horse Championship qualifier for the German Bundeschampionate. He is both an advanced eventer and show jumper. His sire, Le Duc was Reserve Champion winner at his performance test with unprecedented scores of 10 for character, efficiency of movement and trot. He scored a 9 in all other categories. A Grand Prix dressage stallion with a performance index of 146, his dam was a consistent producer of Performance Test winners.

Her G.Grandsire, Anduc, a son of number one Trakehner stallion in the World, Marduc was another Elite stallion renowned for producing progeny of outstanding temperament and rideability.

A freak stable accident as a three month old, ended the competition dreams of Charisma's breeders, we were contacted and immediately purchased her as a future broodmare for the enhancement of our existing breeding program. Charisma is tall, powerful and a very impressive mover. She has exceptional conformation being very much of a jumping 'ideal' in the way she is put together, her strength, power and balance.

Her dam is a rare Kinsky warmblood, the incredibly versatile golden Czech warmblood synonymous with the Devil's Race', the Grand Pardubice, possibly the toughest race over jumps ever run.

Her first foal is has been Approved with the Oldenburg Registry as well as Graded AES. He stands in the US and is frequently competing on the Florida circuit.

  • She has outstanding breeding for serious SJ or eventing breeders and is a super mover too!

This lovely mare who is sold empty will be ideal for breeder looking to produce some quality eventing prospects. She has evented BE and has already produced a fantastic filly foal. She is straightforward, mannerly, vice free and easy to deal with in all ways; a remarkable first time mother and took 1st time.
She is sired by the remarkable stallion Ramiro B who competed at 1.60m level showjumping himself and has sired many outstanding offspring to date who have succeeded in both the eventing and showjumping field. These have included 5* winner Cooley Master Class and Badminton Runner up Cooley SRS among a multitude of top performance and performing progeny including Nations Cup level 1.60 show jumpers and 5* eventers.
Her sire, Ramiro B was the first horse to be made an ambassador with the BWP studbook due to his phenomenal breeding record. With multiple progeny competing at 4* and 5* level, Ramiro B is undoubtedly a proven sire of top level event horses as well as showjumpers.
Ramiro B has ranked as high as 2nd in the WBFSH rankings. He is No. 3 on the top sires in 2018 based on BE points.
Bred in Belgium and produced in Ireland, he won up to International Grand Prix level with Irish show jumper Edward Doyle. Ramiro B was noted for his consistency in technique, rideability and scope. Known to stamp his stock very well, his attributes are typically seen in his offspring.
By Calvani, a son of Caretino, one of Germany’s top sires of all time, Ramiro B passes his jumping ability, movement and temperament on to his progeny.

Her dam sire, Black Sam Bellamy, the full brother of Galileo and half brother to Sea the Stars and who tasted success as a sire both on the Flat and over jumps.
Black Sam Bellamy was a stallion who tasted as a sire both on the Flat and over jumps as well as siring multiple eventers in his latter years.
He was a prominent British Jumps stallion, who, as well as being himself winner of the 10 furlong Tattersalls Gold Cup (G1) by 8 lengths and the Gran Premio del Jockey Club (G1) over 1½ miles, Black Sam Bellamy possessed probably the finest pedigree of any NH stallion in the world, being by the 14-time Champion Flat Sire, Sadler’s Wells, out of the Prix de ’Arc de Triomphe (G1) winner and legendary broodmare, Urban Sea (by Miswaki -a stakes-winning son of the leading sire in North America, Mr. Prospector. ).
Black Sam was a full-brother to the world’s leading active sire, Galileo, and half-brother to the outstanding racehorse and increasingly important stallion, Sea The Stars, both Derby and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S winners.
His dam can realistically lay claim to being by far the most influential matriarch in the history of the Thoroughbred. Her sons [Galileo, Black Sam Bellamy, and Sea The Stars] have already produced Group 1 winners, and Galileo and Sea The Stars have produced major classic winners. Two of her grandsons [Galileo’s sons New Approach and Teofilo] have produced classic winners and three of her daughters have produced stakes winners.
“Black Sam was particularly suited to the production of high-class staying horses, as he consistently transmitted the important qualities of stamina, toughness and determination. “He had an excellent temperament and was always a lovely horse to deal with.
