Charlie, a 2023 16HH and still growing thoroughbred gelding

Charlie is a lovely young Thoroughbred with a kind nature and a wonderfully sensible outlook on life. He is the sort of youngster who gives you the feeling that there is a lot to work with and plenty to look forward to as he matures.

He is currently around 16HH and is still growing, with plenty of filling out and maturing to come. We expect him to finish somewhere around 16.2HH and develop into a lovely substantial horse.

Charlie has already been ridden away and has experience on the racecourse, so he is RoR eligible. He is clean, sound and has no known injuries. While he has been perfectly healthy, he simply hasn’t shown the speed we need to see a long-term future for him in racing.

Away from racing, Charlie’s sensible nature really comes through. He has a good attitude, doesn’t appear overly sharp or complicated, and approaches new situations in a calm and straightforward way.

We think Charlie could be particularly exciting for someone wanting to take a young horse through the next stage of his life. With patient schooling and consistent handling, we can see him developing into a smart riding horse with the potential to turn his hoof to a variety of disciplines.
