DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • ex competition horse

15hh 18 year old welsh sec D x spotted.

Owned and competed extremely successfully for past 14 years, nearly always comes home with a 1st place Sj

However
Looking for a kind hacking home , loan only, no endless school work, she has always been 100% sound.

She is also a fantastic hack alone or in company, depending how much work she is doing, she can be very forward going, and if left for fortnight plus she will be strong but nothing un manageable for a confident rider.

She has never in 14 years reared , bucked, or whipped round.

Good in all ways very well mannered on the ground.

Can on occasion be awkward to catch but a bucket of nuts works.

Not the best with farm machinery, but in truth she just stops and trembles , i find a gateway to stand in, but she has never been un safe.

Will happily hack for miles across fields, through forestry, over/under railway bridges, does gates , goes through water. happily boxes up to explore unknown byways, alone or in company.

An agreement would be put in place, she prefers to be in at night all year round, not to be turned out with geldings.

She has confirmed cataracts in both eyes that get regular checks.

Email only your experience, weight and where /how you would keep her, she loves fuss and sweets but is not rude.

  • Animo x Ramiro x Cathargo
  • Eye-catching top quality allrounder
Eye-catching top quality allrounder who has done a bit of BE and BS in the past and could potentially excel with a strong rider, or would be a great horse for someone wanting to get out and about and have fun doing lower level stuff with a gentle giant!

With the right rider he could jump some big tracks, but is equally happy popping round 80/90. He’s very chilled jumping, definitely needs a push rather than a pull! He loves XC schooling and rides well on the flat, so could turn his hoof to eventing or dressage.

Good to hack alone or in company. He can get a bit excited if he hasn’t been hacked for a while and throw a shape but nothing nasty or dangerous. This stops when he’s going out regularly.

Gentleman on the ground. Good to clip, shoe, worm etc.

He’s given me the confidence, as a nervous 40 year old who hadn’t jumped since pony club, to jump heights I never thought I would! This boy means the world to me and is only available as my daughter needs funds for her next horse. Sadly he’s too big for her and not whizzy enough (after being on ponies!). He will only go to a 5* home.

For further info or videos please WhatsApp 07966 003807

Bold and sensible leisure horse wanted (or with the potential to be one)

Ref #: 281435
Must be bold and confident to hack both alone and in company and good in open spaces. No bucking, rearing or other nasties, I'm too old for that! Don't mind the odd genuine spook or look at something. Will be used for hacking, fun rides, flatwork and pole clinics primarily.

Ideal age between 6-10 or alternatively would consider a youngster (4 years upwards) or something a bit greener that has the potential to be the above with a bit of work, as long as the temperament is right.

Mare or gelding, however nothing too dominant in the field. Also to be ok if another horse is taken out for a short time (there would still be other horses grazing nearby).

No TB's as I am too heavy for them. Need something with a bit of bone that is up to weight (balanced rider and no jumping involved).

Experienced loving home on quiet private yard.

Have a 4 figure budget to buy, or will look at loan or LWVTB. Either way looking for a long term / permanent arrangement.

Will want to have horse vetted. Horse must be fit and in work currently.

My ideal, but will happily consider if its doesn't meet this is a homebred or something that hasn't been passed around and where the medical history is known.

Based in Wiltshire but willing to travel a reasonable distance.

Please message with details in the first instance. thanks

Terrific Tennessee Joe

  • Stepping cob/Friesian cross with enormous ability and potential
  • Has been driven and has a full 4x4 flying trot.
  • Loves to show jump with no fears or issues

Joey is a Stepping Cob (Lucky Shamrock)/Friesian (Tilly Trotter) 7 year old gelding. 15.2 hh approx, super intelligent and strong as an ox.

We bred Joey and still own his mother, so we know all of Joey's history from birth. He was backed to be a riding and driving horse but the driving training has not been maintained so although he has been driven this would have to be retrained.

He has an amazing 4x4 trot and loves jumping, he is as bold as brass, no filler or water tray can put this horse off jumping.

Our intention was to show him in hand but Covid and family illness limited time for training.

He has been to boot camp for riding due to lack of use but is now in regular work. He requires a confident, experienced rider to give him the time and attention he needs.

With the right person he will be an exhilarating ride and a wonderful companion.

Joey has no problems with farrier, vet or travelling. He is on a livery yard in South West Lincolnshire, not far from Newark, and we would prefer for him to stay there.

This is a great opportunity to join a yard that normally has a substantial waiting list. The yard holds many competitions and social events throughout the year and has a reputation for excellent training and friendship.

Joey is a valuable horse and he is a loan with a view to buy with a minimum of a 3 month loan. He has some quirks which will be explained at the viewing which is why we would prefer to loan first to make sure of the perfect match.

Someone will be very lucky to own Joey, he is an affectionate, talented boy with brain and lots of engine, but he does come with his quirks that need to be seriously considered.

The video was Joey’s first time in the grass arena and also his first time jumping a full course.

If you feel you are a candidate to spend lots of time with this boy please give us a call and we can chat further about all you need to know.

Please no dealers, novices or time wasters, we have a huge interest in Joey's welfare and making sure this boy gets the right forever home.

This mare has been my pride and joy. She was lightly competed before being used as a broodmare - under saddle she was a really talented, super mover with a bold careful jump.

She lives in or out, foals easily and is a great mum. She is only available as I am no longer breeding and would rather she had a purpose - I would like her to go to a small stud or private breeder where she will be well looked after.

When I have used a black stallion I have had a black foal each time - they are absolutely stunning and very commercial so I am hoping she will appeal to a small stud producing sports horse or even ponies. Her 3 foals all look to be around 16hh (stallions each being 16.2).

I love this little mare but want her to have a purpose while she is still young enough.

Photos show her with first foal at foot - then her same foal as a 2yo. The black foal is last years filly.

  • To stay at current yard in Culworth, nr Banbury

Due to Pregnancy Daisy is looking for someone to have her on Full loan. She is to stay at current yard in Culworth, nr Banbury, where she is on 5 day a week full livery (weekends are DIY I can help with this for as long as possible)

She is looking for someone that wants to concentrate on hacking and Flat work, the potential of jumping in the future under instruction as she’s quite quirky!

She’s great to hack, the occasional spook but nothing nasty. Schooling work is good, she requires a quiet rider and really appreciates a soft hand.

She is the most loving cuddly mare, doesn’t bite or kick and will happy stand all day to be cuddled and groomed.

Will load on Lorry’s and trailers, stands perfectly for farrier, physio etc.

Absolutely no novices as she is a strong warmblood mare.

Happy to discuss anything and answer any questions.

References will be required and contract put into place.
