Grassroots Horse Wanted

Ref #: 407921
  • 15.3hh - 16.1hh Mare or Gelding. 6 - 12 years old
  • Must have strong record at UA/BE90 and 100
  • Knowledgeable, competitive and loving home waiting
  • 15.3hh - 16.1hh Mare or Gelding. 6 - 12 years old
  • Must have strong record at UA/BE90 and 100
  • Knowledgeable, competitive and loving home waiting
I am unexpectedly and with a heavy heart looking for an event horse as my brilliant little mare (pictured) suffered an injury at the end of last season and who sadly, even after careful and slow rehab, will not be able to compete again. She was my ultimate partner to reach my goal of getting to the Badminton Grassroots Champs and we were so close to achieving this last year. She has set the bar pretty high!

I am an light, adult rider and competent at my level but definitely don't want to "go up the grades". I have lots of lessons and give my horse a varied and interesting life. I need a horse that has at least one season behind it with good results either BE or UA 90 and 100. I am not interested in anything that has only been XC schooling no matter how good they seem! A more experienced horse with points can be downgraded if the points were gained two or more years ago so that is a possibility. Something with naturally good paces and movement please but the dressage can be a work in progress. In show jumping the odd pole is fine but no refusals. A strong XC record is a must. A horse that loves this phase is important to me.

I have stables at home and more often than not I ride by alone so it needs to be happy to hack without company. As I do the horses myself one that is good to catch and easy to load onto a 7.5 ton horse lorry is a must. It needs to be happy to stay away, easy to do at competitions, relaxed on a quiet yard of two and not need a busy home environment. No bucking, rearing or napping!

In return I can promise the right horse a 5* home with year round turn out (in at night during the winter. In during the day in the summer), heat lamps and hot shower for winter washing, regular physio sessions, varied life and very pampered and loved.

I know I am asking a lot but this is what I had in my mare. She was a that perfect combination of easy to do but was also incredibly competitive with many top five results. I really want to find the same type where I can get out and about and have fun and be successful with a horse that enjoys it all as much as I do!

Please message/whatsapp with description and videos and I will get back to you.

Thank you so much.

  • Experienced rider
  • Ability to have horse at work
  • Quiet and compassionate

Looking for a loan over the summer months, or to potentially have a young horse to gain some experience.

I am currently in between horses as hopefully setting up my own yard, but it’s taking a bit longer than expected. I have the ability to have a horse on loan/training with me up until October time this year, to do a bit of schooling and some eventing/show jumping competitions if appropriate. Would suit someone who’s going travelling for summer/having a baby/ out of action due to injury, or just wanting someone to give their horse a bit of experience.

I have many years of experience, having produced a handful of my own young horses. I have experience with off the track thoroughbreds, as well as Irish types. I have competed up to 90cm eventing, 1m show jumping. I will have the support from my coach, who I would continue having on and off property lessons with, as well as clinics etc.

Ideally the right horse will be a nice person, easy to deal with on the ground and to take out and about (as I do mostly everything on my own), be good to hack out alone and in company, good to shoe/bathe/clip.

Happy to deal with the odd buck etc, but nothing nasty. Also happy to deal with some medical history, as long as disclosed. Horse will have 24/7 turn out on my working farm, with a few horses fielded around them.

Please WhatsApp me any further questions you might have, if you think I might be a good fit! (I am 5’7 and weigh 60kg for size reference).

Would also consider a part loan in Bognor/Chichester/Arundel area

  • Yard favourite

We are looking for a loving, committed person to take our beautiful boy on part loan.

He's a 17.3hh ISH, 9 year old (10 in a couple of weeks) solid, kind gelding. He's polite, friendly, and an absolute gentleman. A real favourite with everyone on the yard - humans and horses alike. No vices. Brilliant to catch, shoe, box, tack up, bath, groom, stand for the vet - he really is so easy.

He needs a confident rider as he is super smart, likes to be worked and to use his brain, but he does has a steady temperament and big heart. He loves humans and becomes very attached to his rider.

We are looking for someone who can commit to 2 days a week minimum to hack him out and do fun rides (if they wish). We aren't looking for schooling, dressage or jumping, he needs a quiet work life.

No yard jobs needed as he's on full livery.

We lucked out when we found him, and he is very special to us - which is why this is a part loan only, not a sale, full loan (unless kept at current yard) or LWVTB.

If anyone would like to know more or arrange a visit, please get in touch. No novices.

  • Perfect mother daughter share/competitive amateur’s horse

  • Open to leasing
Peppa is a great all rounder, has competed up to elementary in dressage, BE90 eventing and discovery in BS. She has £208 of winnings showjumping. She is snaffle mouthed at all times and is a responsive ride. She is great to hack alone and in company (often babysitting greener horses) and isn’t bothered by the heaviest of traffic.

She is good with the farrier, to load and will happily stand on the lorry all day.

She is from Clover Hill lines and is the typical stamp - loves to jump whatever stride you are on! Won the British novice and discovery on her last outing!

We have owned Peppa for the last 6 years. She has been brought on to event but is now ready to progress up the levels of British Showjumping. She is established in her flat work and could do equally well in British Dressage.

She is great fun cross country, but unfortunately not consistent enough over ditches to be competitive in British Eventing, which is the only reason for sale.

Peppa is an uncomplicated and all round nice person to have around. She would make a perfect mother/daughter share or horse for a competitive amateur.

Plenty of photos and videos on request. Her British Showjumping membership until June 2026.

She has had her hocks injected and her price reflects this. Happy to share details.

Open to leasing.

Dressage Horse for Loan/Lease

  • Dark bay
  • Gelding
  • 12 years
  • 17.1 hands
  • Fantastic movement and breeding
  • Working Advanced with talent for higher levels
  • Easy to do and always the yard favourite

Henry is a beautifully bred dressage horse who has been professionally produced from the start, giving him a fantastic foundation. Working at Advanced level, with green changes and passage. He is fit, well and ready to go out and compete – something he absolutely loves.

He has three expressive, adjustable paces and plenty of power with lots of gears in the tank. Previously competed Area Festivals at Elementary, before stepping up to Medium level. Unfortunately a minor injury set us back and with my work commitments I’ve not been able to get him back out competing where he belongs.

On the ground he is an absolute gentleman – kind, affectionate and incredibly easy to handle. He’s basically a giant dog and loves attention.

Under saddle he is a professional-level horse who thrives with the right rider. He can be spooky at times, so he needs someone confident who will give him reassurance, clear guidance and ride positively. With the right partnership he has so much to give.

Currently based in Romsey, Hampshire at a professional yard with excellent facilities and tuition available.

Ideally suited to a competent or professional-level rider who perhaps doesn’t currently have the budget to buy a horse of this calibre but would love the opportunity to ride and compete a talented dressage horse.

I am flexible with arrangements – part/full share, loan, lease etc – as the most important thing is finding the right person. He truly is my baby and deserves nothing but the very best partnership.

Please message for more information or to have a chat.

  • 10* forever home on a beautiful private gated estate in Central Scotland
  • Mare or gelding aged between 5 and 12 years, 15.2hh plus

I am looking for a genuine horse to offer a 10* forever home on a beautiful private gated estate in Central Scotland, with excellent stabling, grazing, and endless hacking. This horse will join my much-loved horse of 20 years, along with my hunter who has sadly been prematurely medically retired, so a knowledgeable, caring, and experienced home is guaranteed.

References can happily be provided.

I am ideally looking for a mare or gelding aged between 5 and 12 years, 15.2hh plus, and no greys, cobs, or arabs please. I have extensive hacking, so must be good in traffic, non-spooky and no nappers, buckers, rearers please. I like really forward going horses, so something that is forward thinking and well-schooled would be ideal

Temperament is very important, so the horse must be kind and easy to handle on the ground and good to clip, shoe, catch, and load. I am looking for a horse with a nice attitude and willing nature, that is straightforward to work with and enjoys its job. I do not jump, so it does not matter whether the horse jumps or not.

I have previously competed in RIHS and HOYS qualifiers and so would like something smart and mannerly that will go in a nice outline. I do not mind a horse that has been retired from the show ring and looking for a quieter life or a change of direction. Happy for superficial blemishes but no health conditions/previous injuries please.

Any potential horse will need to pass a vetting and must have no stable vices - no cribbers/windsuckers please!

Based in central Scotland so sensible distances please but willing to travel for the right horse.

Please email in the first instance with full details and photos would be a plus.

As I do not sell on, no silly prices please.

She is a big, sensitive youngster who will benefit from a calm, patient handler willing to continue building her education from the basics, everything from handling and picking up feet through to developing her groundwork before being backed.

Nala is very much at the early stages of her journey, so we are hoping to find someone who enjoys the process of bringing on a young horse and is happy to take things steadily while she continues to grow in confidence and understanding. With the right person, time and consistency, she has the potential to develop beautifully.

She would be best suited to someone and able to give her the time and routine she currently thrives on, particularly from a rehabilitation and retraining perspective. An ideal home would offer a balanced routine of part stabling and turnout with other horses, where she can continue to settle and progress.

She is sweet-natured and affectionate, enjoys grooming, and forms lovely bonds with her people. While she can feel a little anxious in new situations at first, Dream settles well with quiet, consistent handling and soon shows her kind, steady nature.

Dream lives out happily in a mixed herd and would be best suited to a home where she can continue living out. She isn’t a fan of traditional stabling, so an open barn or free access to shelter will suit her best.

Young rider long listed for the junior Europeans 2025 & hoping to get on the team this year. Regular coaching with a local 5* event rider so plenty of help & brilliant facilities. Previously evented to 2*.

Might suit something that won’t pass vet/X-rays or requires some maintenance

Happy to discuss both long & short term options.

Looking for genuine competition horse

  • Around 15.2hh to 16.3hh
  • Loves to jump
  • Long term, experienced home
We are looking for a 15.2hh to 16.3hh (give or take slightly) that is forward and genuine to a fence. Our daughter has jumped up to junior newcomers and is a calm, capable rider. She is ready to move onto horses and jump round seniors now. She has regular training with great coaches and comes from an experienced horsey family.

We mainly show jump but if horse also enjoys a bit of xc and arena eventing that would be an added bonus but not essential. We like to be able to give them variety if they enjoy doing so. Age of horse irrelevant as long as has an honest outlook and a bit of scope.

We can offer a long term, loving home. We keep our horses at home and they want for nothing. We can cater for most needs.
We ideally want something that is at least happy to hack out in company as we have lovely quiet hacking.

Horse must travel well in a trailer. Would consider sale, lease or loan. Decent budget.
Slight quirks/ailments considered but must be disclosed. Happy to wait for however long if you’re not quite ready to move your lovely horse on yet.

We are in the south west but will travel within reason.
