DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Quality event project sought for next year. Must have enough blood, good breeding, and decent conformation. Nicely backed, not rushed and a sensible attitude to work with a trainable brain are essential. To mature to 16.2hh.

Professional family home awaits with other horses kept at home, private estate hacking, 60x20 arena, year-round turnout and a wonderful support team of vet, chiro, saddler and farrier. Our horses are very much part of the family, and have a balanced and holistic lifestyle.

Rider is a soft, educated sympathetic 23-year-old. We can supply references from trainers, owners and vets.

A professional, competitive and loving home awaits with the best of care.

8 year old gelding by Arlando (Bronze medal winner at Rio Olympics). Owned since a two year old, backed and produced at home. This horse is completely wasted on me, he needs to be where there are the facilities and time to take him up the grades, which sadly I don't have.

He is talented and so easy to train, picking up new movements quickly. He has impressive paces, which are very level and straight.

He has a lot of presence, particularly in a test, his lowest competition score is 68%. Currently schooling at Elementary.

He would be a great horse for an ambitious rider to really enjoy all he has to give. He has an incredibly kind nature, is very social and loves nothing more than being around people.

This horse had a sad start to life, so although I am happy for him to find a long-term home, I would not consider a sale. Ideally I would like him to stay relatively local, although would consider further afield if it was the right home.

Knowledgeable home a must.

  • Piglet, 8 year old, 16hh TB (RoR eligible) gelding
  • To stay at current yard, with current trainer

Been out of racing since he was three and been in retraining for the past two years. To stay at current yard, with current trainer. Due to my work commitments I am looking for someone to take  exercising duties 2 days per week.

Piglet is good in the school and knows how to walk/trot/canter in an outline, but is only two years into his retraining so needs a kind, sympathetic rider who will help him and develop him alongside the training he is currently receiving. He loves polework and is good to hack alone or in company. Piglet is on 7 day livery, so no yard chores are required.

He is not a novice ride, but is safe and sensible.

With regards to financial contributions his livery bill would be spilt to reflect the amount of days his sharer will take on.

All farrier and vets bills will be covered by owner.

Broma arrived into our care after his owner couldn’t care for him any longer due to personal circumstances, they decided he was best placed with Blue Cross to secure his future.

If you’re looking for a handsome horse who is always the first to greet you in the field and adores a good scratch on his neck, Broma could be the perfect addition to your family!

He adores attention and fuss, though due to his history, Broma would benefit from a handler who has experience with bigger horses to ensure he continues his journey to becoming a well rounded companion.

Broma would benefit from being able to live out as much as possible as he has some worries around stabling. This is due to a negative association to stables and veterinary treatments which, with time, patience and gentle reassurance he may overcome once settled into a new home.

Broma can live with mares or geldings. He has bags of love to give to his handlers and always tried his hardest to please. He will be best suited to a quiet environment.

Mare or gelding 15hh plus , good allrounder , forward going with a bit of sparkle, sane to hack and well-schooled. Ideally a nice temperament on the ground, must be able to load and travel.

Amazing opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable rider to loan this amazing gelding for showjumping or dressage.

He has competed around Europe SJ in the past but hasn’t done much over the last year due to a family bereavement. So he’s unfit currently but won’t take him long to get back into his job.

Easy to do. Nice temperament, great to hack alone or in company, Good to shoe, clip, box - I travel him on my own to shows and he stands in the lorry perfectly, hacks out with me and my 7 year old son on his pony. He’s not silly but he’s a competition horse so no novices. He’s strong whilst jumping and dies shoot off after the jump so someone that likes a forward horse.

Looking for a competent rider, who is happy to compete sj up to 1.20 (once he’s fit) but probably more suited to 90-1.10 or dressage (although he’s never competed in dressage) and be happy for me to visit at his new home and some competitions. He will not XC as he’s never done it and he wouldn’t be sensible enough.

Ideal home would be a riding club/competition home, I really want him to have a job, not just be a happy hacker.

He will not live out 24/7, he likes his stable.

Absolutely no hunting.

10* home required for my special gelding!

Loan subject to yard visit, references and contract.

Can move yards.

Over 18’s, would possibly consider a very capable and experienced teen.

Absolutely stunning mare with the most beautiful paces, floaty movement and as 'light as a feather' feeling covering ground, e.g. feels like she floats on water. Sensitive to aids, beautiful transitions and carriage.

Would have suited a dressage home, but she has very much just been a wonderful family horse, hacking, fun rides, companion with children on ponies etc.

Due to the loss of my father, we decided to put her into foal, to give us a reprieve on the horse front. However things have not quietened down and we are reducing our numbers here at home due to work and family responsibilities.

She foaled earlier this year and is now for permanent loan.

100% sound - although she is being offered from the field - as not been in work since being put into foal, except for leading her out off another horse. For loan as a companion, or broodmare. HOWEVER she could make someone a very happy ridden horse, project horse if you're looking for a very classy, high quality mare.

She is very low milage and health is 100% in all areas.

She would suit someone looking to breed, have as a companion, or have as a project, but must be competent as she does have arab blood in her and while easy to handle on the ground, she is only to go to a knowledgeable home, if she's taken back into work. Very easy as a companion / broodmare.

Good to box/clip/traffic etc.
