DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • Spoilt and treated like royalty

Hello my lovelies I'm looking for a horse on full loan to move yards.

Im looking for 14.1hh + that can hack alone & in company. Alone hacking is a big thing as we are based near Salisbury plains and would like to go out on my alone when children are at nursery. Equally my daughter has a little pony so to be able to ride and lead is a added bonus. I am NOT fussed on breed I prefer geldings but would consider a mare if not marish. Im looking to do low level bits, odd shows, clear rounds , schooling ect but not a full on competition home.

I am able to offer 24/7 turn out with my duaghters very friendly pony, along with lots of cuddles & fusses, next to my house, regular updates/ visits, lovely yard & facilities.

Something that enjoys fusses, being good with children is a MUST absolutely nothing thats gonna be sharp or kill me/ them on the ground. Im not looking for a world beater, just a nice genuine horse to be part of our family that will be spoilt, with a varied life and is safe enough that my non horsey husband can be around/ have a sit on now and then along with my horse mad toddler. I am also completely my ESMT exams next month so horse will be given regular sports massages to keep them happy & up to date.

Very experienced equine lady, use to own my own in my past, produce youngsters and can provide references & im a fully insured groom/ rider wirh my own Equine business

We are based in Larkhill, Salisbury.

If you have read this far and think you could help please give me a message.

I look forward to hearing from you :)

  • Experienced and loving home offered
  • Suitable for hacking, flatwork, and jumping
Loving home offered for min 6 months for an older school master type

I’m looking for a school master / mistress type for full loan however I am open to something that still needs some training.

Ideally, a kind, well-schooled horse who enjoys a variety of work — hacking, schooling, and the occasional fun ride or local event.

About me:
I’m a bit out of practice these days but I’m a quiet and sympathetic rider, with previous history of UA 90 ODEs & Dressage up to Novice. I train with Sam Hobbs, Molly Brown & had started with Simon Grieve before my 6yo got a field injury which has unfortunately put him out until the spring.
I’m looking to build a partnership with a horse who can get me back in the swing of things and have lots of fun with.

What I’m looking for:
- mare or gelding
- Age: not fussy, just nothing too green
- Height: 15.2+
- Safe and sensible in traffic and open spaces but I can deal with quirks, excited bucks etc
- Suitable for hacking, flatwork, and light jumping (up to 90, no Burghley aspirations here! )
- wiling to relocate to my yard in LE12

What I can offer:
- An experienced home, I’ve had horses for 20 years, including a variety of ex racehorses, bred my own a few years ago
- a lovely internal stable in an American barn stabled next to my gelding with cameras (for late night checks), ad-lib hay
- Option for 24/7 turnout in summer, daily turnout in winter (Individually or pairs)
- Regular, varied work load including lots of hacking, schooling, jumping, clinics
- Excellent care and attention. Will be on DIY with my YO to cover if I’m ever away
- Willing to sign contracts and provide references from vet / farrier / physio
- Allow visits whenever you want & happy to keep updated regularly
- Local to some fabulous training and competition venues such as Vale View, Pickering Grange, Aylesford, Newbold Verdon etc.

Please get in touch if you have (or know of) a horse that might be a good match! Maybe an older horse who’s ready for a quieter life to give you space for something younger, something to take the pressure off if you want to focus on family, career or travelling.

Unfortunately I am not in a position to buy, I retired my older boy this year & now have my 6yo off on hind suspensory injury which is why I’m looking for loan.

Stable is available from 18th October but I’m in no rush.

Thank you

***EDIT*** We are now looking at selling Kevin due to personal health reasons

Springwind Cevin is a 16.1hh, 10-year-old gelding by Cevin Z out of NH Tb mare, a super compact gentleman who offers oodles of ability with his best years yet to come!

Over the years he has been campaigned by both professional and junior riders, giving an impressive BE track record with lots more to give in Novice/U18s/Internationals, which is where we feel his talent lies being kind and forgiving, but punchy enough that he gives that wow factor for ambitious teenagers.

Top results to date:

Kevin is now offered for sale (not lease) due to personal reasons. (I have been inundated on leasing him, but the best thing for our family now is selling him). He is offered at a reduced price due to a conformational fault where he has slightly turned in toes - he has never had any issues or lameness here.

We want the very best of homes, and everything will be disclosed to find the best for him.

He is currently based with Heidi Coy.

Rambo is a lovely horse who is looking for someone to have some fun with and do a bit of everything.

He is not wanting to do purely showjumping so would need someone who wants to do lots of hacking, xc and other things with.

He’s incredibly brave and would be a fantastic hunter for someone too.

We would consider leasing him also to the right home for £3000 per year.

Unexpectedly re-available.
5 year old homebred lightweight warmblood, about 15hh.

Was backed last year and did 6 weeks under saddle, did basic schoolwork, poles, canter track and plenty of hacking which she enjoyed a lot.

She will need restarting as she was then turned away due to not having a suitable rider. She was straightforward to back, quite confident and sensible and a quick learner so should be easy to get up and running again, though experience with young horses will be needed. She is a bold horse who needs a cheerful but authoritative handler - she is not naughty or difficult but she is intelligent, a big personality and will suss you out in seconds!

She is easy to do and enjoys attention. Good with the vet and farrier, easy to catch, good with clippers, easy to worm etc. Fully up to date with all care. She hasn't been shod yet as she has good feet and didn't need it at the point she was turned away. Turns out in a herd or with a neighbour. She usually lives out as I have no stables at home, but she is happy to be stabled. Basic wardrobe available. She wears a bug rug in the summer as we have lots of midges, but hasn't needed any extra care than that to stay happy and healthy.

Looking for a long term arrangement, ideally in a competitive home with regular training from a qualified instructor. I am not looking to sell her, purely because I want to guarantee a safe home for her should anyone's circumstances change in the future. I bred her for myself but she didn't grow as tall as expected so I want her to have a great life with someone else.

She would excel in any discipline due to her character and good basic paces, and would make a super PC or RC horse. I am open to any type of career for her though, she is currently totally wasted and has a lot to offer. She would benefit from a busy active home with plenty to engage her brain.

We are in Gloucestershire and would ideally like a home within the surrounding counties but may consider further afield with suitable references etc.
