We pride ourselves on excellent welfare standards and follow the 3 F’s – Forage, Freedom and Friends. Our horses enjoy ad-lib forage, appropriate turnout, and the companionship of a settled herd, alongside calm, consistent handling.

Our horses are carefully managed, worked sympathetically, and are part of a very knowledgeable, welfare-focused team. We offer a secure, long-term home where each horse’s wellbeing comes first.

• New Yatt Riding for the Disabled is actively seeking a horse to join our team to work with our special riders
• 15-15.3hh, gelding preferred, aged between 8 and 14 years old
• Must be unflappable in all situations with a friendly temperament

The right horse will have these key attributes:

15-15.3hh, gelding preferred, aged between 8 and 14 years old

Must be unflappable in all situations with a friendly temperament

Sound and healthy (no history of laminitis, mud fever or sweet itch) Will live out all year round with both mares and geldings

Happy to work on the lead rein and suitable to be ridden independently by riders of different abilities and confidence levels, including around a course of small jumps

Willing and safe to work in our indoor arena, as well as out hacking and in open spaces

Easy to handle, groom, tack up etc and must be patient and able to stand without fidgeting when mounted and at halt

Our current 6 horses and ponies lead useful, long term working lives at a knowledgeable and dedicated West Oxfordshire equestrian charity.

We have funds available to buy the right horse subject to full vetting and will also consider a long term loan agreement.

Melman has been competing at BD Elementary(BD HALONA BUBBALICIOUS), training at home up to Advanced Medium with ease.

His main discipline is Dressage, but has done occasional jump/XC schooling which he has been genuine and fun. 

Melman is a true workhorse with a heart of gold. A gentle giant, he is trainable, sensible, and an absolute pleasure to be around. He has a fantastic attitude – not sharp, always willing – and is perfect for a rider looking for a reliable, well-mannered, and established horse.

He hacks confidently alone or in company, is polished at home, and performs consistently in the competition arena. He has also enjoyed some jump schooling and cross-country.

We are much more amateur dressage riders than he is used to and his teaching us the ropes! 

Important note: Melman makes a noise in his wind and is therefore not suited for hunting or sustained fast work. He has, however, passed a full 5-stage vetting for general riding and dressage, which is fully reflected in his value.

Despite this, he remains a fantastic, versatile, and well-established dressage horse, ideal for a rider seeking a safe, trainable, and genuinely enjoyable partner.

Tilly is a quality mare with an outstanding pedigree. She is by Tyson, who competed at the highest level of showjumping and was selected as an Olympic reserve. Tyson has produced numerous international showjumpers as well as successful event horses. Tilly’s dam sire is Corland, an extremely influential stallion whose offspring have achieved great success at the top levels of the sport, with over 60 progeny competing internationally up to 1.60m.

Tilly has a solid record with BS, competing successfully up to Foxhunter class (1.20m). She has achieved all of her required double clears at Foxhunter and is fully qualified for the second rounds. She would make an ideal schoolmaster for an ambitious rider looking to gain confidence and progress through the levels. Tilly has a careful, scopey jump and has consistently proven herself to be a reliable and competitive horse in the ring.

On the flat, Tilly works well in a natural outline and has three balanced, elevated paces. She is established with automatic changes and has a genuine, workmanlike attitude towards her training.

Tilly is a pleasure to have on the yard. She has a kind temperament, is not marish, and is easy-going and polite to handle. She is well travelled, having attended numerous stay-away shows where she has always been straightforward and relaxed. Tilly hacks happily alone or in company and is sensible and level-headed in all environments.

She is good to load, shoe, clip, and catch, and is easy to manage in all aspects.
Everyone who has had the privilege of working with Tilly absolutely adores her – she is a very special mare and truly one in a million.

Winston has been with his current family 2 1/2 years, he was bought for an inexperienced 12 year old girl and has spent the past two years doing all PC with the Woodland hunt pony club, including 2 camps. He would be ideal for a keen teen coming off ponies who wants to show jump, hunt, arena event etc.

Competing Unaff SJ to 90cm and has done a couple of NSEA shows. Owner hasn’t been the most competitive so he has no BS points but has 148 Irish points in classes up to 1.20cm. Winston is a well schooled ride who goes very well on the flat, good lateral work and changes established. He’s a lot of fun to ride and would best suit a slightly older teen or adult, he is a forgiving ride, takes a miss but can be a little looky (but locks on and jumps!) so needs a rider that just tells him to get on with it and gives him a bit of confidence. Perfect type for kid coming off ponies BS. He’s done everything here at low level, enjoys arena eventing but has limited XC experience ( current owner not really interested ) so if you wanted to take him eventing you would need to build up from basics. Winston loves his hunting and has been out frequently for the past two seasons with the RMA sandhurst drag which has been his owners favourite thing. He’s always polite and well mannered and has really looked after his rider.

He’s a really nice genuine horse who hacks alone and in company very well, excellent in traffic. He’s very simple to have on the yard, good to box, catch, shoe, perfect to clip etc. he’s happy to live in or out and is easy going. Never lame, sick or sorry.

Chacco Prince has a kind and genuine temperament, though he can be a little shy with new people ( mainly men) , so he would thrive in home where he can build a close bond. He is super safe, a true gentle
Giant.

He would suit an amateur rider looking to enjoy lower-level jumping, flatwork, or general all-round fun. Equally, he could step back up the levels with a quiet, capable rider.
He has done some arena eventing which he enjoyed.

I have very much enjoyed having Chacco in my yard and he will be sorely missed
