EXPERIENCED Confidence Giving Hunter Wanted!

  • Sensible Hunter that has been there & done it! Nothing green or that needs educating!

Looking for a mother's hunter type horse of the genuine, safe, mannerly, experienced kind! Open to buy or Loan. MUST have previously hunted not just seen hounds please!

Doesn't need to be a George Clooney in appearance! Happy to consider an older horse looking to step down from the bigger hunting days who would settle into smaller jump country.

No need for world beaters or puissance horses as we hunt the more trot & pop, trappy country not large grass fields with hedges but it must still be happy to go off alone and jump. MUST be good with hounds around it's legs and go off alone leaving the field happily when trail hunting!

Apart from being 15.2 hh and above (may consider a little smaller if well built) with a good shoulder in front, there is no other specific requirements - just a safe and experienced horse that won't erupt into outer space if left unridden for a week.

Based in the North East. Kept on a small private yard with other horse friends!

Thank you for taking the time to read! Keeping fingers crossed that someone, somewhere will have something to suit!

Shelby is a very genuine and honest mare, who has helped me gain my confidence jumping again after a nasty fall. She would excel with someone who is looking to participate in a range of disciplines as she is a very versatile little mare.

Shelby is affectionate on the ground and is an angel to load/travel, lives out with others, hacks alone/in company and is sensible in open spaces, shoe, clip, stud, catch and is happy having another pony led off of her.

She works nicely on the flat and is very trainable, so could definitely become more established in this area and be successful at BD.

She loves to hack and is never silly or strong and is a saint in heavy traffic. My mum, who is a novice rider, has happily hacked out on her. I have not had chance to hunt her myself but I have no doubt that she’d make a mannerly lady’s hunter.

She jumps for fun and carries you into a fence and is not one to hold mistakes against you; she is quick and clever showjumping and bold out cross-country so has the grounds to make an excellent grassroots eventer. Would look after a younger or older rider around the lower heights, but equally would do well competitively around the bigger height; she thrives in the competition atmosphere!

This mare is my best friend and has been nothing but a pleasure to work with from day one and I know she will be a dream horse for someone as she has been for me. Shelby is much loved and will be missed by me and her old companion, and is for sale due to change of circumstances, so she will only go to a 5* home.
Based Dorset.

Majesty is a gorgeous amateurs dream. He’s a rosette machine at the lower levels and would suit an amateur wanting a horse to enjoy to low level dressage and hacking. Majesty is easy to shoe, clip, travel and is a firm yard favourite.

Majesty has 3 amazing paces yet very safe and has been ridden by many amateurs and children.

We feel that the lower level dressage works best for him as although he is will always try his best the more advanced work doesnt play to his strengths.

He does have a shiver which doesn’t affect his ridden work at all, and he is still very easy to shoe. I’m happy to discuss this further.

He has recently passed 5 stages vetting.

This is a very hard sale so only serious enquiries please.

Heartbreaking sale of Joey who has been my daughter's dream horse only for sale as she is away at college for two years and cannot give him the time he deserves.

Joey has previously competed successfully showjumping 1.30 (record can be seen under Jabari) but has happily stepped down to compete U/A 90/1 m with my daughter but will happily step back up as he lives to jump! She has taken him cross country schooling which he loved happily jumping 1m hedges on his very first outing! He has 3 lovely balanced paces.

He is a dream to handle on the ground and very polite in all ways. Great to catch, shoe, bath, load, travel etc.

He loves his hacking and is perfect alone and in company, can be hacked on the buckle by novices on the busiest of roads. Used to all farm machinery.

This is a heartbreaking sale but my daughter cannot commit the time he needs so he deserves to be in a home doing what he loves.

He truly is the perfect horse be it for an amateur to climb the ranks, a competition home or a family allrounder!

The lovely Muffin is rising 7yo with so much to give. She will be perfect for an amateur or young rider wanting to have some fun in any field. She’s super careful and competitive showjumping with very tidy (and photogenic!) legs over a fence. In time she would also definitely be very speedy against the clock!

Muffin has also evented to 100, proving very brave and fun. She’s not a spooky type, loves her xc and is still young with lots of exciting potential ahead of her and would be a great contender for Cotswold cup or Badminton grassroots. She’s ready to go out and get some more experience with this under her belt.

Muffin is very safe and straight. Hacks like a dream and goes in a snaffle for everything. She’s not for a total novice as expected as she’s still young and learning herself, but she would be fab for a competent amateur wanting to have some fun.

Open to any vet checks with no concerns or history.

Sad sale of the lovely Issy. She has competed with amateur rider around 1m taking part in national finals etc and being a fantastic first horse and she’d absolutely do this again. However she also has got scope there to step up to some bigger tracks with the right rider.

Issy is snaffle mouthed and a very polite ride. She likes a bit of leg there but isn’t lazy. Likes to leave all the fences up and is honest and helps out where she can.

She is so easy and kind on the ground to do everything with. And a total pleasure to have on the yard and manage. Great with clipping, loading, travelling and everything that makes her super easy for even the non horsey parents!

On the flat she schooled up to PSG level as a young horse. Is a very impressive mover and knows her work!

Never been sick or sorry.

Her only quirk is she doesn’t like hacking alone but is great in company. Doesn’t hot up in open spaces etc.

Great trial facilities Watlington, Oxfordshire

Meet MISSY

15.3hh | 17yo | Bay Irish Mare

The ultimate pocket rocket who will happily step up for the bigger jumping days but is equally capable of stepping down for a competent child.

Missy has done every fun ride going and has enjoyed many trips to the beach with both children and adults. She is a well-known face on the hunting field and absolutely thrives in that environment.

Previously whipped-in in Ireland before coming to us, Missy absolutely loves her hunting and jumping. In the 7 years I’ve owned her she has never stopped at a fence. She will happily sit anywhere in the field and is not strong, just keen and enthusiastic about her job.

That said, I wouldn’t put a complete novice on her out hunting, simply because she enjoys it so much and may be a little much for someone brand new to hunting.

At home she is quiet enough for a novice.

Missy is clueless in the school, but will happily pop round a course of show jumps or cross-country fences. She hacks alone, is absolutely bombproof, and takes everything in her stride.

She is easy to do in all ways with absolutely no vices.

A genuine, much-loved mare looking for a fun home where she can continue to do what she loves.

Never sick or sorry and doesn’t need riding every day.

Cutting down on horses hirelings been very slow this season.

Meet Robby – The Ultimate Schoolmaster & Confidence Giver

Robby is a lovely 17-year-young, 16.2hh Maxi Cob gelding looking for a kind and knowledgeable home where he can enjoy happy hacking, hunting and fun days out.

A genuine schoolmaster and nanny horse, Robby has taught countless riders over the years. He is a real confidence giver and an easy, enjoyable ride. Anyone can hack him out and he has safely introduced many people to riding and hunting. He loves beach rides, pub rides, and a day out with the hounds, and has given many riders their first enjoyable days hunting.

He does require a little management once a year to keep him comfortable. X-rays have shown slight navicular changes in his near fore. His coffin joint has been injected and he wears pads in front. He is currently sound, happy and still enjoying his job, with no reason he couldn’t do a few more seasons.

Please note: Robby will not pass a full vetting, so please don’t enquire if this is essential. However, he passes the veterinary inspection every year for my riding school licence and continues to work happily.

Important:
• No time wasters
• No loans or payment plans
• Not for someone wanting to jump grassroots
• No one wanting to bring trainers – he is not going to a schooling home

Normal, genuine homes only please.

Transport can be arranged and part exchange may be considered. Priced realistically for a quick, straightforward sale, but he will not be given away.

Reason for sale: The hirelings weren’t busy enough this season so I’m rethinking my career and moving some of my older horses on to loving, knowledgeable homes.
