ROSE – A Rare Diamond of a Connemara Mare – Beauty, Brains, and a Temperament to Melt Your Heart

Standing at a solid 15.1hh, Rose is the kind of pony that doesn’t just turn heads – she stops people in their tracks. A 9-year-old, purebred Connemara mare, beautifully bay and Class 1 inspected with top results to her name, Rose is the full package in every sense of the word. She’s the picture of quality – beautiful with a gorgeous head and calm eye, well-made and correct, with proper bone, depth and a leg in each corner. She’s the sort of mare you’d draw if someone asked you to sketch the perfect Connemara – absolutely traditional, utterly beautiful, and built to last.

What makes Rose so special though – and what sets her apart – is how quiet and kind she is. She is a genuine dream to ride and handle – one of those rare mares you trust from day one. She has been ridden by children moving up from ponies, making that transition easy and safe. She would suit a mother-daughter share, a competitive amateur home, or even a riding school looking for a quality, educated mare that can be trusted to look after her rider while still offering them something to develop with. She is polite, settled and unfazed by everything around her – traffic, open fields, new places, busy showgrounds – she just gets on with it.

Rose is absolutely quiet and easy to ride, she has three absolutely lovely paces – straight, floating and rhythmical, with that trademark Connemara softness and swing through the back. She rides in a sweet snaffle contact, light in the hand, steady in the outline, and responsive without being sharp. She’s incredibly comfortable to sit on and gives a super feel under saddle – she listens, she tries, and she always, always wants to get it right. Her movement has the quality and class to excel in working hunter, showing, or dressage, and her brain and attitude mean she’s happy to just get on with the job, whatever that may be.

In the jumping ring, Rose really comes into her own. She’s got a cracking technique over a fence – careful, neat in front, and clever behind. She’s scopey, honest, and has absolutely no interest in touching a pole. She’s brave without being bullish and gives her rider confidence whether they’re just learning their way around a course or stepping up to something bigger. She’s been beautifully schooled and always jumps from a good rhythm, never rushing, never pulling, always listening.

Across country, she’s exactly the same – straight, honest, and full of heart. She’ll take on anything you point her at – ditches, water, drops, skinnies – with ears forward and no questions asked. She’s not strong or silly, always rideable between fences, and gives the most enjoyable ride across the country. She’s one of those rare finds who takes everything in her stride, and you get the feeling that she’s enjoying it just as much as you are.

Rose is a traditional bred Connemara mare with old and proven bloodlines. Her sire is Castleside Carrig, her dam is by Monaghanstown Boy x Killyreagh Kim.

Rose is equally lovely on the ground – easy to catch, shoe, load, clip hack out and in traffic and do absolutely everything with. Shes easy to hack out alone or in company, used to all types of farm machinery. She has no vices, is sound, open to any vetting, and is a pleasure to have in the yard. She’s affectionate without being pushy, sweet without being dull, and has that lovely calm energy that just makes people relax around her. She’s the first to greet you at the gate and the last to cause a fuss. Whether she’s being pampered by kids, hacked out alone, or popping a course at a local show, she’s just good. Through and through.

We are confident she will bring so much joy to her next home. She’s a proper horseman’s pony – bred right, built right, and brought on carefully. Horses like her are few and far between, and she’s ready to find someone who’ll love and appreciate all she has to offer.

Price includes delivery to your yard anywhere in the UK, and we’re happy to offer an exchange if for any reason she isn’t the perfect match – though we’re quite sure she will be.

Scroll down to watch her video – it says more than words ever could.

Safe & Steady Cob Mare

Location: Stockport, Cheshire, SK2
Name: Winnie
Breed: Cob
Age: 18 years
Height: 15.3hh
Colour: Black & White
Sex: Mare
Type: All-Rounder / Happy Hacker / Schoolmistress / RDA Suitable
Special Qualities: Weight Carrier, Safe for Nervous Riders, Low Maintenance

The Ultimate Confidence Giver

Winnie is an exceptional 15.2hh cob mare 18yrs young, super fit with absolutely no stiffness or arthritis, 100% fit and health in every way, she requires no supplements or medication, this mate is truly a rare combination of safety, strength, experience, and a heart of gold. She is kind, bold, dependable weight carrier, ideal for a wide range of riders – from complete beginners and nervous adults to more experienced jockeys who prefer a calm and steady ride.

Winnie is beautifully put together and has “been there, done that” in every sense. A calm, considerate and willing mare, she is the definition of safe and steady. She has more “woah” than “go”, making her a perfect mount for riders who want to enjoy their riding at a relaxed pace without compromising on ability or responsiveness.

Ideal for Beginners, RDA, or All-Round Riders

Winnie is currently worked in a very busy riding school environment and she has excelled with every level of rider – from total novices to advanced. She is also a firm favourite for RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) and special requirements sessions, both under saddle and during stable management and therapy activities.

She has experience in flatwork lessons, both private and group, as well as participating in our in-house low level showjumping and cross-country novice classes and competitions. She is confident over coloured and rustic fences and has a bold, careful jump.

Winnie also loves to hack out and does so safely and calmly. She will happily hack alone or in company and has been exposed to the heaviest, fastest-moving traffic imaginable. She is completely unphased by buses, lorries, farm machinery and all types of vehicles. She remains safe and steady in all environments and does not rush or pull, even in open spaces or on the way home.

Although she is happy to go at a quiet, steady pace, she is also responsive to the leg and has three balanced, steady paces. For more experienced riders, she will work with enthusiasm and energy, always staying calm and sensible.

Manners, Temperament & Handling

Winnie has outstanding ground manners. She stands for hours to be groomed and fussed over, with or without a headcollar or lead rope. She is never marish or clingy, and she’s happy living in or out. In the field, she keeps herself to herself and never causes trouble, whether stabled alone or turned out in a mixed herd.

Winnie has a history of excellent health and has never had laminitis, sweet itch, sarcoids, or any lumps, bumps, or unsoundness. She is currently barefoot with strong, healthy hooves and is equally happy to be shod. She is excellent to catch, great to load and travel, and good with the farrier, vet, and dentist.

She is incredibly low maintenance, requiring no daily work. She can have weeks or even months off and return to ridden work without any fuss. She maintains her condition year-round on a simple diet and is easy to manage in every way.

She passes her annual Licence Inspection, which is the equivalent of a Stage 2 vetting.

A Truly Special Mare

Winnie is a rare gem. She is the perfect choice for someone looking for a calm, dependable, and capable all-rounder. Whether you’re a nervous adult, a beginner rider, someone looking for a safe happy hacker, or a family looking for a versatile and loving horse, Winnie fits the bill perfectly. She is a genuine schoolmistress who provides confidence and enjoyment in every ride and will give her next owner years of pleasure.

Why Is She for Sale?

This is a heartbreaking sale. As part of our regular stock rotation, we give our riding school horses the opportunity to move on to private homes so they can enjoy one-on-one attention and new experiences. Winnie is ready to bring joy to her next rider and deserves the very best home.

Works nicely on the flat in walk, trot and canter. Very supple on both reins. She has been working on lateral movements recently. For a big, young horse she keeps a very balanced canter rhythm.

Started jumping a couple of weeks ago. She is very brave, has jumped everything I’ve asked of her.

Great to hack in all traffic alone and in company. Very brave and not at all spooky.

Generally a very easy ride. And could excel in any discipline.

Very friendly mare, not mareish in any way shape or form. Perfect ground manners.

Good with farrier, vet etc. She’s currently bare foot but has had shoes on previously.

Same home since a foal so full history known.

  • Perfect riding school type
  • Loads & Travels Perfectly, great for farrier & on ground
Berry has been with me for 18 months - she came as a slightly unfit, green, inexperienced horse, who started her ridden career late. During the past 18 months, we have:

Taken part in very regular riding school lessons / clinics / arena hires etc
Our yard is a riding school - Berry has had numerous lessons each week within the school, both group lessons and private lessons - her flat work has come on leaps and bounds - she now has a good understanding of lateral work. She is a leg in each corner type and an absolute confidence giver within the arenas - (my 11 year old nervous Nelly rides her!).
Berry has fantastic transitions with lovely, steady rhythmical paces and has never bucked, reared or bronked.

Regularly Jumped:
We have jumped both at home and away - Berry has become bold a clever towards and over a jump, she is comfortably jumping 60/70cm courses.

Hacking:
Our hacking facilities are not great, so although we have hacked it is not a regular thing - on the occasions that we have been out, Berry has been fantastic around heavy traffic, over pedestrian crossings etc and will go front or last.
I have taken Berry on XC hire on her own and she was great.

Beach Rides:
We regularly go to the beach - Berry loves to play with the water! She will canter steadily along the sand either in front or behind.

Pleasure Rides:
We have been to a few pleasure rides, where Berry has been brilliant - she definitely finds this environment exciting and is more 'on her toes' but nothing silly.

XC:
We have tried XC and honestly - my inexperience shows is this sphere!! Im not the most experienced rider, but I believe that with a stronger, more experienced rider, she would excel!!

HUNT:
We have also tried a hunt style meeting, and again, my inexperience let us down - Berry would absolutely love this type of work - given the chance, with someone who has the guts to do it! I would love to see her taking part!

On the ground Berry is brilliant, she has never bitten, is good to shoe and clip also fine for jabs and dentist etc

Berry will load and travel perfectly both on her own and with others, we have also been to camps where she behaved perfectly throughout the two days and overnight.

Berry will come with a full wardrobe;
Fitted brown leather GP saddle
Brown leather bridle
Fly Rug
Lightweight Rug
Medium Weight Rug
Under rug

Fitted jump saddle can be sold at additional cost.

Fully up to date with dentist and injections
Will live in or out
Doesnt need to be ridden everyday - always the same.
Very versatile

Berry is a quality stamp of a horse, a solid very well put together type who always gets compliments.

Mia (MAMA MIA 24)

Excellent Para or Juniors Horse

16hh 9 year old Dressage Mare by PRH Moses

Wonderful expressive full up 16hh mare with beautiful cadent movement and brilliant brain. She has such expression in her paces, with a clear moment of suspension. Super hind leg and she uses all her power for positive energy, no sharp or naughty behaviour. Superb canter, she energy and incredible balance. Her trot work is devine with real adjustability within her paces. She has an excellent walk, she walks for a 10. Professionally produced and a very straightforward ride, she is not spooky at all. Perfect for a junior, para or nervous amateur who wants a ready made horse.

She’s has a good record at Advanced medium with many wins and placings on her record. Her way of going and attitude would suit a rider who wants a very established horse who is good to learn advanced movements on, and progress.
No reason why she won’t progress further up the levels a very talented mare, who is easy to manage and a real pleasure to ride. Mia is a rare type to come on the market and very special.

She hacks, is sweet to have around and has no vices. Open to vetting and delivery is available nationwide.

Incredible horse who won’t be on the market long. Same home since a foal, excellent home is essential.

Draft pick. A outstanding example of a TB. Dark bay 16.2HH 12yo gelding. Dick has been retired from racing a while now and is completely retrained as a allrounder. He is beautifully schooled, moves and floats across the ground effortlessly.

He has done multiple dressage competitions, showjumping competitions, rallies, pole lessons, cross country and hunter trails, beach rides and hunting. There isn’t anything he won’t do.

Solid as a rock to hack alone or in company, been ridden down busy A roads, country lanes, big open fields and you can lead your child on their pony off of him! He is incredibly easy to do anything with, shoe box catch clip travel etc. His temperament is great and he really is one of the best put together TBs on the market.

He is eligible for ROR classes and without a doubt would be hard to beat! He would suit anyone who is capable and experienced, he has been ridden lots by a 14yo girl. Would suit any type of home from hacking to hunting and everything inbetween.

A real yard favourite. Dick is here on sales livery. He does windsuck, very mild and only at feed time. If this slightly puts you off, don’t enquire about him.

15hh 4yr old Connemara mare by well known stallion Celtic Moy Sailor out of a Connemara x sport horse mare.

Clover has been brought on slowly and is proving to be a great all-round pony. She is happy hacking out alone or in company, snaffle mouthed at all times (more woah than go but will step up if asked to) Perfect to catch, farrier, loads first time and travels well - a lovely pony to be around.

Lives in or out depending on my schedule and is not phased either way. She turns out with mares or geldings and is not bossy!

She would suit a confident child as she is nice natured and quiet however not for a complete novice as she is green.

She does have a couple of sarcoids which do not affect her but this is reflected in her price.

This pony will make someone very happy - more pictures and videos available.

Stunning 2012 registered ISH (green book). Full history known including breeder.

Sad sale of a good friend due to change in personal circumstances and work commitments, no fault of his own.

Previously a Hunt Masters horse, hunting extensively and successfully in Ireland, which he loved. Since coming to live with us 2 1/2 years ago, he has been professionally reschooled with the help of our UKCC level 2 accredited Coach who has worked with us from the start. He would now be suitable for other disciplines as well as hunting or equally would suit someone just looking for the quiet life like us.

Max is eager to please his rider, forward going, listens well to aids as well as voice and is a quick learner. He can be tense/sensitive at times, however he doesn't do anything naughty. He's just a worrier and therefore needs an experienced and sympathetic rider.

He has beautiful paces, is a bold jumper and hacks out alone or in company. Very well behaved and not easily spooked by loud noises or unfamiliar objects ( only wary of HGVs on road).

Max is a gentleman on the ground, loved by all, good for farrier, vet, dentist etc, loads easily and travels well. He is not a big fan of the clippers but will stand, just needs lots of reassurance. Lives out or in but prefers out as much as possible. Occasionally harder to catch but easily persuaded with patience.

Up to date with vaccinations, worming, dentist, farrier etc (currently without shoes but all 4 worn in the past).

Previously passed 5 * vetting on purchase Jan 2023, no health issues and open to all vetting.
Trial facilities include indoor/outdoor school with jumps. Other facilities can be arranged on request.

Tack and full wardrobe items also available separately.

For sale on behalf of friends.
Talented little all rounder with an affinity for dressage.
Has done some smaller jumping but rider was more interested in dressage, with a little bit of reintroduction would take to this quickly.
Hacks out alone and in company.
Currently barefoot.
Ollie has a lot of scope to turn his hoof to his next chosen sphere.
He’s been a child’s pony club pony having:
- Qualified and competed at National Pony Club Championships 2021
- Competed at affiliated dressage 2020-2022
- Regularly attended Pony Club and Pony Club Camps
- Regularly attended Riding Club
- Competed in endurance at novice level

Sad sale due to child moving away from horses but family motivated to find him a home where he will have a job and be loved.
Ollie probably wouldn’t be suitable for a complete beginner or nervous rider.
Based near Cowbridge, South Wales.

FOR SALE – Bentley
15.1hh | 14yo | Welsh D x TB gelding

Fun, scopey little horse looking for an experienced rider. Not a novice ride but full of character and talent!

Bold jumper (90-1m at home. Is a jumping machine and loves his job)
Eventing, XC, hunting, pony club, riding club
Great in competition settings, fab to catch, shoe, clip, load (but needs patience with this)
Up to date with vaccinations, farrier, dentist and physio, he's an easy keeper,
Full history known

Quirky Welshy: can throw the odd buck, can be opinionated on the ground when not in routine or with regular turnout, prefers hacking in company but will hack alone with a confident rider.

Can step up and down for his rider and will look after you ( I bought him as a novice and he's taken me to my first shows and behaved beautifully) but I do feel he would thrive with somebody more confident than myself.

Happy to discuss quirks further with serious buyers and be very honest to find him a forever home.

Stabled overnight in winter, but prefers as much turnout as possible.

Looking for a confident teen/adult to have loads of fun with him.
10* home only.

This is a sad sale and an honest advert of a loved horse that simply needs a confident and competent rider to help him live out his full potential.

Please don't message me if you are novice/ this will be your first horse as this is not the type of
home I will be selling to.
