Rocco – Kind & Traditional 5-Year-Old Connemara Gelding

Rocco is a 5-year-old Connemara gelding, currently standing at 15.2hh with more to grow. He is a very traditional old type, with great bone, a lovely outlook, and an exceptional nature. He is a proper Irish type with a kind eye and a solid, quality build.

Rocco is very quiet and easy to ride. He is extremely friendly, sweet, and gentle, with a calm and laid-back attitude. He has been ridden here by novice students and takes great care of his rider, making him suitable for a novice, mother-and-daughter share, riding school, or happy hacker home.

Although he is quiet and straightforward, Rocco certainly does not lack quality. He has nice conformation, is a good, straight mover, and makes a very good shape over a fence. He is confidently jumping around a course of 80cm and absolutely loves cross-country, proving himself to be brave, genuine, and willing.

Rocco would be ideal for riding club activities, low-level competition, or an all-round family horse. He is great to hack out, both alone and in company, and is good in traffic. He is always happy to please and genuinely tries his best in everything he does. He is easy to do everything with, a real pleasure to have in the yard.

Rocco is a sweet, kind gelding who is easy to have around and will undoubtedly make his next owner very happy.

Clover is a 5-year-old purebred Irish Draught gelding, currently standing at 16.2hh, and he is as stunning and beautiful as they come. He is a real model in every way, with gorgeous conformation, fantastic bone, and a wonderful presence. Clover is an absolute eye-catcher wherever he goes and has the look of a true quality Irish Draught.

He is just as beautiful inside as he is outside. Clover has the kindest, sweetest temperament, he is super cute and friendly, calm, quiet, and very easy to ride. He is suitable for a novice rider and always tries his best to please. He has been ridden here by a small girl, proving just how genuine and straightforward he is.

Clover has hunted for a full season and has been incredibly easy, quiet, and sensible to ride. He takes everything in his stride and has a fantastic attitude to his work. He has a great jump with a very good and consistent technique, making him a very exciting future prospect for working hunter or performance hunter classes. With his presence, movement, and way of going, he has all the attributes of a top show horse.

He has three great, straight paces, is very comfortable to ride, and has a good step, making him a pleasure on the flat. Clover is snaffle mouthed, soft, willing, and always trying to do what is asked of him. He has jumped here up to 90cm with a small girl and shows a very promising loose jump, with the scope and ability to be suitable for the higher classes in the future. Clover is a genuine pleasure to ride and a joy to have around the yard.

He is a very versatile horse and will be successful in a wide range of disciplines, including showing, dressage, and showjumping.

Stunning 2017 15.2hh grey Irish sports horse (green book recorded breeding) mare. This lovely girl has beautiful paces and a light, soft snaffle mouth. She feels bigger than she is, with a deep body and long neck. She has done plenty of hunting, riding club activities and showjumping.

Lola has done lots of dressage, she has lovely paces and a great movement. One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.
