Big Simon. Lovely big hunter or happy hacker

Towering over me at approx 16.3/17hh this big lad is full of character. He was bred in Ireland and brought over here in October by the lady I got him from. He is a registered Irish sports horse with recorded breeding. Centennial x PJs delight

He turns 6 this year and is a big sensible lump of a horse with tons more growing to do. We’ve hacked him out alone and in company and he is sensible in the heaviest of traffic.

I’ve ridden him in the school in walk, trot and canter and popped a couple of cross poles and he is genuine and willing but just has some building up behind and top line to do so I’ve been focusing on lunging in the Pessoa with lots of flat work and hacking and again he is sensible to do. He is snaffle mouthed. I’ve pinged him over a couple of jumps on the lunge and he is willing and careful showing scope.

He’s very funny to have in the stable, picks his bucket up and throws it around, hooks on the door, nudges you for cuddles. Plays with all the toys. He can pull faces but nothing comes of it he’s just a cheeky boy and I feel like we have a great bond already! He loves our big dog and is gentle with my toddler when he’s playing near his stable.

He’s good to catch, load and shoe and is wormed to date. He stands well to be mounted at a block and my husband can hack him out happily who is quite novice.

He’d make a perfect happy hacker, hunter or project for someone to produce this coming season. He does have a bit of thickening on his offside fetlock but he trots up and flexes sound on it. I understand it’s an old injury and he is sound.

He is a big young horse so does require a knowledgable home but is a big softie.

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

I bought Donna Feb 2025 completely untouched and have brought her on slowly and professionally since then. She has been to arena hire outings, xc schooling and attended an endurance ride. She has absolutely not been rushed but has done a little of everything you would expect for her age.

Super to hack, goes alone or in company and leads off another horse. Happily goes first or last.

She is not the sort that needs riding everyday and has a sensible and sane attitude to her work. She is a true allrounder type and I believe she would also make a fantastic hunt horse.

She rides very nicely on the flat, has a soft mouth and is never strong, always in a snaffle. She really enjoys jumping and is proving to be careful. She has jumped round a course of coloured fences and seen small xc jumps.

She will live in or out and turns out with mares or geldings. She was very good to clip.

Donna is a really intelligent mare who is a very quick learner and always tries her best. I have a real soft spot for her, five star experienced home sought. Please call for more information.

Ned is a compact little horse with a good amount of bone and lovely temperament. Ned is by Peters Brook a registered Irish Cob part bred out of a dam by Willie Joe, a unique mix of Irish blood that would make a nice show hunter/ working hunter pony type.

Ned has been an amateur’s horse for most of his life enjoying pleasure rides, hacks, beach rides and all the fun activities in between. He has also done a good few low level competions both showjumping and dressage.

In the school on the flat ned has started to progress nicely, due to the nature of his previous homes schooling has not been the top priority, now in a professional environment being schooled he has proven to pick things up quickly, works in an outline, has three nice paces. And would certainly excel as an event/working hunter horse.

Ned is happy to pop round a course of fences, he has a nice tidy jump and is not fazed by fillers etc. He is currently jumping 80/90cm with ability. He has also done a some cross country fences and loves the variety.

Ned hacks alone and in company, he has seen farm and village traffic and does not get hot up in open spaces. He would hunt as he is mannerly and very well behaved.

Ned is a lovely horse to be around, he is happy to live in or out, goes on the walker and is simply a very easy horse to deal with. He is good to load, clip, shoe, catch etc.

This is a sad sale with a genuine reason. We would love to see Ned in a home where he can continue having lots of fun and compete. For sale on behalf of a client.

Striking 2020 Irish bay gelding standing at 17hh, lines including Sligo Candy Boy, this beautiful, big, athletic chap will be a super horse for someone.

He has a gorgeous big step, nice presence about him but a very nicely done, quiet ride. Ralph has three elastic paces on the flat, he rides big and gives you a great feeling, super comfortable and easy to ride, snaffle mouthed, not sharp, he will ride off your leg or voice, not sensitive or a worrier, just a nice relaxed, easy horse.

Ralph has plenty of scope, he isn’t remotely bothered by coloured fillers / rustic fences and will jump off any stride.

A nice, well started, uncomplicated and easy horse. He’s lightly hunted, done training shows SJ and XC schooled. Despite his age, he’s a gentleman to hack out alone and with friends, will pass all heavy and fast vehicles and doesn’t change in an open space, he’s Mr cool and anyone’s ride.

Declan is a lovely, genuine boy who tries so hard and always wants to please his rider, and will try anything you ask of him.
Loves having a job and thrives of being in work. Unfortunately he is currently out of work due to my work commitments but wouldn't take much to bring him back just needs to build his muscle back up.
Passed a five stage vetting when bought and never had any problems.
Priced to sell for a hassle free, quick sale as i have no time for him due to work. And he is too good to be wasted in field.
