5-Year-Old | 16.3hh | Thoroughbred Gelding
A gentle giant with a heart of gold and the sweetest temperament!
Barney is a lovely big 16.3hh Thoroughbred gelding with the kind of gentle nature that makes him a pleasure to have around. At just five years old, he has a wonderful temperament and is the sort of horse who could make someone a very special partner for enjoying life in the saddle.
He is a kind, safe and uncomplicated type who doesn’t need to be complicated to be loved. If you’re looking for a big, gentle horse to enjoy happy hacks, fun rides and low-level activities with, Barney could be well worth meeting.
A gentle giant
Barney has a lovely temperament and is gentle, sensible and kind-natured. He’s a nice, straightforward type who offers that appealing combination of size and a calm disposition.
He has never been lame, and his easygoing nature makes him an attractive prospect for someone looking for a horse to enjoy without the pressure of a demanding competition career.
Like any horse, Barney will need a suitable home, thoughtful handling and a rider whose experience matches his needs. But for someone looking for a lovely big gelding to build a partnership with, he has plenty to offer.
A future full of simple pleasures
Barney is best suited to someone looking for a fun horse for hacking, happy rides and low-level activities rather than a high-pressure competition career.
He is a lovely get-on-and-go type, with the potential to become a much-loved everyday riding partner. Sometimes, the best horses are the ones who let you enjoy the ride, explore new places and simply have fun together.
As Barney moves away from the intensive routine of race training, his workload and fitness can be adjusted to suit his new life.
A few important things to know
We believe in being open about every horse we advertise, so here are a few details for prospective homes to consider:
* Previous wind operation: Barney has undergone a wind operation in the past.
* Occasional crib-biting: He has occasionally been seen crib-biting, although this is rare. We feel it’s important to mention this so his new home is fully informed.
* Morning stiffness: Following the intensive workload of race training, Barney can come out a little stiff in the mornings, but he warms out beautifully within a few minutes. His routine will need to be adapted thoughtfully as he transitions out of racing.
These details don’t take away from the lovely horse Barney is, but we want to ensure he finds a home that understands his individual needs and can help him settle comfortably into his next chapter.
Could Barney be the one for you?
If you’re looking for a big, gentle gelding with a kind temperament, a straightforward outlook and the potential to become your trusted hacking partner, Barney could be the horse you’ve been searching for.
Not every horse needs to be a superstar in the competition ring. Some are special because they make ordinary days in the saddle something to look forward to. Barney could be just that kind of horse.
