Rocco 15.2HH Irish Cob Gelding

£9,500 ONO

  • 5 years
  • 15.2hh / 158cm
  • Genuine, kind horse with a fantastic attitude to work
  • Has all the ingredients to make an exceptional all-rounder
  • Hacks alone or in company

Due to genuine personal circumstances, Rocco is sadly looking for a new home. This is through absolutely no fault of his own, and he will only be sold to the very best home.

Rocco is a genuine, kind horse with a fantastic attitude to work. He is always willing to please and gives everything a go. He takes confidence from his rider, so he would be best suited to someone who can ride positively and consistently. However, he would also happily suit a confident novice rider with some horse knowledge who is looking for a genuine young horse to enjoy and continue producing. Kind, willing and eager to learn, Rocco has all the potential to make an outstanding all-round horse.

Rocco was professionally backed at the start of last winter before being turned away to mature. He returned to work in March and has been riding away consistently ever since. Despite his young age, he has taken everything in his stride and continues to impress with his willing attitude and sensible nature. He really is an old head on young shoulders, taking new experiences in his stride and always trying his best.

Since coming back into work, he has enjoyed beach rides, cross-country schooling, flatwork and plenty of hacking. He hacks happily alone or in company and is equally happy leading or following. He is very good in open spaces and, although he may be a little more forward in completely new environments, there is never anything silly or naughty about him. He has a lovely, level-headed temperament and always tries his best.

He is also incredibly genuine to ride after time off. He recently had several days off during the hot weather and came straight back into work without any fuss.

On the ground, Rocco is a pleasure to have around and is a real yard favourite thanks to his kind, friendly nature. He has lovely stable manners and is easy to handle in all respects.

Rocco is:

* Good to catch

* Good to load

* Can be unsure with the farrier but is improving with regular handling

* Well-mannered on the ground and in the stable

* Easy to do in all ways

* Up to date with vaccinations, dentist and farrier

* Free from lumps, bumps, blemishes, sarcoids or vices

* Recently passed a full 5-stage vetting with no issues

Unfortunately, his breeding is unknown.

Rocco has all the ingredients to make an exceptional all-round horse for someone wanting a genuine young horse to continue producing. He has a fantastic brain, a kind nature and a real willingness to learn, making him an exciting prospect for the future.

Rocco is equally happy living in or out and is content either with other horses or on his own.

Based in Dorset.

High four figures

The very best home is absolutely essential and will be carefully vetted.

(The cob formerly known as Clarence) super fun all rounder / hunting cob who is sadly offered for sale due to owner’s retirement. Jimmy was brought over from Ireland by us as a 4 year old, he was then sold to his current owners who have had him ever since. They are both now in their 80’s and hanging up their riding boots so he has returned to find his new hopefully forever home.

Jimmy has been a fun all rounder in his current home, his owners were regular subscribers with the Fitzwilliam hunt and he’s been well hunted by the whole family. He’s a cracking cob to hunt, stands quietly when asked, excellent at meets and happy to pop all hunt jumps. He absolutely loves the job and is safe but keen. Adult daughter has intermittently taken him out both SJ and XC schooling, he enjoys his jumping and could go on to do all RC activities. Jimmy has mainly hacked and hunted with his owners so his flat work needs a little polishing off to do a dressage test, however, he is obedient and off the aids in the school when asked.

Out hacking he’s super, good both alone and in company and has been great in busy traffic. He’s forward thinking but not really going anywhere with it and for this reason he’s not for a wobbly novice. Out hacking solo he's so chilled you could sit back and read the newspaper. In company he is keener and can be a bit strong in his first group canter, but soon comes backa nd goes in to steady mode again.

He’s very easy to have on the yard, happy to live in or out and good to box, shoe, clip etc. he’s up to date with everything and ready to go and have some fun. He has a couple of little handling quirks but once you understand him he's no bother and not a problem with elderly owners. He's polite in the stable. He has settled right in with us and likes to have a bond with his people and a good managed routine.

Best home wanted who will drop old owners the odd message and let them know how he is.

Lovely cob who will make someone a really fun all rounder/ hack/ possible hunter.

Not a sluggy dead cob! Toto is a fun forwards thinking boy with a nice mouth and way of going, he would be a lot of fun to take to local unaff dressage, SJ, XC etc. he rides very sweetly on the flat and works in a natural shape, he’s nicely off the aids but not sharp or silly with it. He would definitely suit a keen middle aged RC lady who wants something that feels like it has a bit of engine without going anywhere. He’s very quiet out hacking both alone and in company and excellent in traffic, has been up to the pub with us, happy to stand patiently, steal a chip / half a pint etc. he’s good in open spaces and pulls up when asked.

We have taken him XC schooling and he was genuine and brave, jumped everything asked of him and was a lot of fun. He’s also jumping round a small course of coloured fences very happily but will trot down to a fence if you don’t want full speed ahead! We have taken him on a sponsored ride with rusty, inexperienced rider and he behaved brilliantly and gave her loads of confidence jumping and picked her back up when she nearly wobbled off! He’s got plenty of jump to go and do everything at local level well and will give someone an awful lot of fun. To jump in the arena Toto is a little greener but still very genuine, he’s happy to give everything a go. He just needs a few more miles on. The clock as last home only really hacked him.

Toto is a lovely chap to handle, box, catch, shoe, clip etc. he loves fuss and attention, he’s got very good manners and likes people.

  • fun all rounder
  • Hacks out safely
  • been SJ and XC schooling

Fun all rounder who will do all PC/ RC activities and enjoys her jumping, she will go on to make a super all rounder or fun hunter.

Gracie works sweetly in the school and although not built for dressage tries her best to please and is obedient to ride, she is nicely forward thinking and not strong. Grace really enjoys her jumping and will pop round a course of 70/80 SJ fences. She’s adores XC and is brave and bold, happy over all solid fences, ditches, water etc. very ,much point and shoot. Gracie would we think be a lot of fun to take out hunting as she has a sensible brain and happily grows another leg to get herself out of trouble!

Grace loves her hacking both alone and in company. She is happy to go first or last and is good in traffic.

Grace came to us with a mounting issue, we have done a lot of ground work with her and now have her sussed. She is now easy to get on and off in all situations at home and when away but any potential owners will need to be horse savvy, be prepared and happy to be shown how we have dealt with her. With continuation of our work she won’t be an issue but is a bit of a bossy mare in this respect and will try her luck from time to time so won’t suit a novice owner. She’s a real character to have on the yard, but never bites/kicks etc, I wouldn’t call her very mareish, easy in the field with others, good to catch, box, shoe etc just needs reminding of her manners from time to time!

Very handsome and kind 6yo gelding, approx 15.3hh.

Moves well, has a great attitude to work and has been learning to jump, showing himself to be very willing.

He was trained for polo for a while but wasn't going to be a champion, so he was bought as a hack by his current owner, who as time passed realised he just didn't have the time to come and ride him (owner lives in London) so he sent him to us in April for further schooling and sale.

This is a lovely uncomplicated horse who is learning quickly and carries himself nicely.

He is a TB by Bated Breath and out of Commence - eligible all ROR. Registered name "Justwatchmestrugle"

His flatwork has all the correct foundations. He moves beautifully, incredibly light on his feet. He is naturally very balanced. I can see him doing a beautiful test.

Cali hacks well both alone and in company. He has hacked through fields, streams, bridleways. He has been introduced to small logs/ tyres.

Good for the farrier (currently barefoot), catch etc. Lovely temperament.

Ridden and handled by petite 5ft1 lady.

We have bred and owned Mulligan all her life. She has always been super easy to do, so much so, shes always the one who gets left, and not ridden. Whilst I find her super easy, and if anything, I like it when shes not been ridden for a month and is a little fresh, we have had a few try her and found her too forward for them.

There is no need to kick on this mare, leg on means go. She marchs in walk and trots out, keeping up with any horse. She loves a canter across the fields and tracks, but pulls up easy in a snaffle.

Personally I find circles in an arena boring, (plus we don’t have an arena) so we do not do it. If you want a dressage horse, you will need to put the work in, as our idea of fun is hacking. However she has been to dressage and show jump shows with a friend many years ago, so the buttons will still be there, its up to you if you want them, and if so you might need to re program.

Her forte is hacking, heavy traffic is no issue, gates she’s a pro, she’s safe in open spaces, she goes first or last, and is confident on her own.

You can ride and lead her, or from her, so super easy.

She is a unit, i’m 5ft6 and she takes up my leg, and some, I’ve never felt too big for her. Shes super comfortable to ride with plenty of neck and shoulder in front of you.

She is only for sale as I’ve bred myself a taller version and if she gets ridden once a fortnight she’s done well.

If you are into your gypsy cob breeding you will see she has great breeding, and is very correct if you wanted to show.

She needs her own person, but if you are coming from a riding school, are used to kicking every stride, or are hoping for a mother daughter share for your ten year old who is still struggling with rising trot, she is unlikely to be for you, you are likely to feel over horsed.

She is kind, super fun and gives you a great fun ride.

She is and has always been barefoot, easy to clip, bath, spray etc. She is vaccinated, has had a foal (we are a stud) three years ago which she did easily and her foal is still with us (also for sale).

Her ideal home is someone who wants to hack out, have a good canter across fields, do some fun rides etc

We have them in each night, and in the winter we have little / no turnout and she’s happy to stay in 24/7. She doesn’t get fresh or silly when in.

The home and person is every important, as she is a member of our family, but she is surplus to needs at the moment, and she could give someone a lot of fun.

She has a Kent & Masters saddle, Seddon bridle and a larger wardrobe than me that I’m happy to discuss

Gorgeous Bay Tobiano mare TB x Connemara x cob

13 years old.

Approximately 15.1 (I will get a stick on her)

Dam was a Coloured cob x Connemara and her sire is Kier Park (Thoroughbred)

Kitten is not a novice ride - basically she's not a plod or a happy hacker, she'd be wasted, please no novices apply.

She needs an experienced rider to have fun with. Has thrown the odd little fresh buck when cantering in fields but nothing a good rider can't manage - she's a fun mare. Hacks alone and in company. Does 'look' at more if she's alone.

- She does have sweet itch that is managed with rugs and suitable fencing.

- She is a darling on the ground to handle, loves a fuss and would adore a 1-1 home

- Good to lunge / long rein

- Good to shoe and clip

- Very attractive/ flashy mare

- She has evented to BE100, won a BE90, hunted and has shown in the past.

- Low mileage

- Goes well in the school for an experienced rider

- Lives off fresh air

- Lives in or out, individual turnout or in company

- Could be a lovely CHAPS horse in the right hands

*Comes with her micklem bridle and sweet-itch rug. Saddle on separate negotiation.

Only being sold as her owner doesn't have time to ride her anymore and she's being wasted.

We currently have freelance riders keeping her in work. Could be a lovely broodmare too.

Due to personal circumstances this is a sad sale of Silvia.

I am 79: years of age and hacked her out and brought her on with schooling. My aim was to show her and compete at Equifest.

I feel she is now ready to be taken further and enjoy herself, she takes everything in her stride.

She has three forward and very comfortable paces.

I have clipped her, bathed pulled tail and is no trouble. Good with farrier.

Ideally a mother daughter share might suit her.

She is extremely pretty and as they say in the cob world, she has the head of a Duchess.

Jester is a gentle soul, turning 5 years old in July. He is a striking piebald cob gelding standing at 15hh and is a good weight carrier.

Happy to hack out alone or in company, he will go first or last, although he does prefer to lead the way. Will ride away from others, walk through puddles and standing water with no issue. Snaffle mouth. My 60-year-old mother regularly rides him out on her own, which is a testament to his kind and sensible nature.

Ridden away since October last year, he has mainly focused on hacking but has recently started working in the school and is proving very willing. We've also started introducing him to jumps on the lunge and he's beginning to understand what's being asked of him. We will continue to progress this.

Jester is a safe, laid-back, easy-going ride who gains confidence from his rider, not much phases him. Great at gates will open and close and hold open to let others through. He loads well, is easy to catch, has no vices, is good in traffic and is a pleasure to handle on the ground. He is very polite, will happily stand to be brushed all day, stands like a rock for the farrier and is mannerly in all aspects of handling.

He enjoys getting out and about and thrives on human company. Jester is a sweet, honest gelding ready to continue his journey with the right person. He will make someone a really lovely all-rounder.

Based in Herefordshire.

  • Lovely large paces.

  • Not bothered by large farm machinery or animals..

Nia is the calmest mare you will meet she takes everything in her stride never reacting silly or stupid. We live on a busy farm with large machinery going past daily as well as large farm animals and she never flinches and takes it all in her stride. She has lovely large paces which would allow her to excel in a dressage career in the future, she also loves hacking which she is ridden in a snaffle for to be taken in open fields and can be ridden by a small child easily being a massive confidence giver.

She however does not enjoy jumping, she will jump a small course of around 70-80 by herself if she is feeling confident, although she will follow on a funride when given the additonal confidence of a lead but without the lead she does not enjoy it and therefore I want her to find a home where the primary discipline will not be jumping as it is not her passion.

I have had her 3 years and therefore this is an extremely difficult sale, I am wanting to move up the levels in eventing on a more sharper horse as well as going to university in September which is why I want to find Nia a 5* home.

Rodger is a pleasure to have on the yard. He’s great to shoe, groom, tack up, and he loves a fuss!

In the arena, he works sweetly in an outline. He was recently placed 1st at unaffiliated dressage, receiving lovely comments from the judge.

Rodger very much enjoys his jumping. He is brave and unfazed by fillers, very genuine to a fence, and forgiving of his rider, happily helping out if needed. He is currently jumping courses around 80cm with scope to progress further or happily step down.

At home, he enjoys both schooling and hacking and is always a pleasure to ride.

Rodger would suit a rider looking for a fun, capable all-rounder to go out and enjoy a variety of activities.

A genuine super horse looking for a home where he can continue to have fun and be enjoyed.
