DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Is anyone looking for a sweet, safe, fun, 14.2 pony, if so I have a pony for you!

JESSICA RABBIT

Rabbit is a 14.2, 4yro, connie mare with a real passion for showjumping…

She’s safe enough to stand on your saddle and do the YMCA ( I have videos to prove as well have done this)

She’s bomb proof to hack and just loves it, you never have to wonder will she go past this, because she doesn’t ever look at anything, I would trust her to take the most novice person around out hacking… she’s used to baby sit big silly horses, you can ride and lead, she’s been out in huge groups and on her own, she goes first or last.
Showjumping, she’s keen and fast no jump to big and WILL NEVER EVER STOP, she’s jumped water trays, fillers, big fences with competent riders and trots over little fences with little people. She’ll help any rider out if they are on a bad one! We’ve tested this to absolute max.

She’s jumped some XC fences up in the woods being things like logs, bushes, trotted through puddles that were probably deep enough in some places to swallow her…

On the flat rabbit is still wobbly and takes a few times for her to understand what you are asking of her but once she’s got it then you are on your way! She’s still baby on the flat… doesn’t really understand how to hold an outline yet in the canter but the walk and trot are perfect!

She’s a perfect person on the ground you couldn’t fault her, she’s used to kids having cuddles, baths, idiots like me army crawling underneath her! She’s never kicked bitten or stood up she’s just a saint, the nervous of the nervous will lead her to her field tack her up and give her cuddles, because she’s just a rock nothing will set her off!

I absolutely love rabbit so a good, nice home are of the upmost importance

Miss beauty (Missy) - Missy is a mare that will turn her hoof to anything and will never not give it a go. She would be a fab confidence giver to someone who is looking for that next level type pony for there child or for someone who just wants to have fun weather that be showing, hacking as she is more of a woah than and go which would also be great for nervous or anxious people . She would be a good pony to learn how to be a driving pony too if someone wanted a good built cob.

Whilst being with me she has been to local and some county shows placing in every class.Aswell as hacking out on busy main roads and farm machinery always passing her and she doesn’t flinch ,she will lead or stay at the back if hacking out in groups or being by herself out hacking ,she is always safe even when I have taking her in open spaces such as the beach and fields etc .Missy has only popped a few jumps in her time of being with me too .

Her schooling : when she came to me unbacked and only being under saddle just under a year she takes it all in her stride learning each day. She is still abit green in the school but with her only just turning 5 she rides lovely when she understands what your asking from her ,she just needs more canter work .she is just a fun safe pony who would rather hack than school.

She is always snaffled mouthed and the reason for sale is because I’ve sadly grown out of her and my job is taking up a lot of time and she deserves to be doing more.

Please pm me for any more info ,pics and videos

Reluctant sale – only selling as daughter has outgrown and Spike needs to find a new smaller person to pamper and cuddle him and continue his adventures.

He has been with us for the past 4.5 years and is suitable for lead rein, first ridden or second pony. He has been routinely handled and led around by children, he can occasionally be cheeky if they are very small.

Spike enjoys hacking alone or in company, front or back. He goes on or off the lead rein, happily leads from another horse. He is used to being ridden in open fields or in the school, both indoors and outdoors.

He has done Pony Club, dressage, show jumping, fun rides and a little cross country. He enjoys jumping and flatwork. He is regularly placed in unaffiliated dressage, including championship classes this year. He happily pops round 40/50cm courses and has the potential to clear much bigger courses with a small confident rider. He has also competed successfully at local level showing and attended junior PC Camp this year.

He currently lives out unrugged all year round in a mixed group, but is also happy to stand in the stable if required.

He is good to catch, good with the farrier (is unshod), good with dentist, good to load and travel and in traffic. We have never clipped him but there is no reason he should be a problem. We had him freeze marked and he wasn’t bothered. Vaccinations, worming, teeth all up to date.

Open to vet. No loans considered. He is a much loved pony and his new home is important. We may ask to see where he is going.

More photos available on request.

This smart gelding is anybody's ride. Always willing. Don't have to kick along out hacking.

Has never bucked, knapped or put a foot wrong.

Jumps small fences and works in the school. No time to ride him is no problem, leave him couple of weeks or more and he is just as reliable.

The quietest horse I have ever seen clipped. Easy to catch, to shoe and load in wagon or trailer.

A sort hard to find.

Mollie is a mature lady (14) who has been there and got the T shirt as they say.

She is the ultimate family pony and will look after a little rider yet is great fun for a small adult to hack and keep fit.

She has now been outgrown and needs to find a new family where she once again has a purpose.

In her time she has been to PC, done beach rides and fun rides, been hunted, even tried her fluffy feet at low level endurance! Prior to her current home she was even driven though a very busy town!!! She has a really laid back but intelligent outlook on life and is a very special person. She is one of those wise old mares, who really does look after you and yet has a huge personality.

She absolutely loves hacking and is happy to work in the school too. She is no great jumper but will pop round small courses and isn’t spooky or strong she’s just not the most athletic type! She s happy to jump small fillers and XC fences, but just doesn’t defy gravity much above 60!

Good in the heaviest of traffic, hacks alone or with any amount of others and doesn’t get silly or strong. She has been ridden by everyone, from little people, aged 7, to granny, to teenage brother who thought riding was easy!

She lives in or out and is easy to do in all ways. Currently just shod in front as the ground here is quite flinty, but equally would go barefoot and has previously been shod all round.

She is a truly old fashioned type of Irish pony, with plenty of bone but not too wide to sit on. She s not a total plod and is pleasantly forward off the leg but doesn’t go anywhere. She is great to teach with as she is reliable and predictable. She s very comfortable, doesn’t hurt your back or bounce you about!

We are looking for a genuine long term home for her where she can once again have a purpose and family or person to love her and she can give back and teach the ropes or just enjoy lovely hacks with you.

Planning to clip her over the weekend unless someone wants to offer her the perfect home now and wants her fluffy!

Tack included.

Please text me if I don’t answer as we have terrible signal.

  • One in a million, truly special pony

14.2 18yo class 1 Connemara mare by the famous Connemara stallion: I love you melody, sire of multiple grade A show jumpers and supreme champion show ponies.

Sparkle is an incredibly special pony, so kind and gentle, beautiful on the inside and outside, she truly is one in a million. Sparkle has been a first lead rein pony for my daughter from 9 months old, once my daughter could walk and wanted to lead her pony herself, Sparkle would lower her head and shuffle along slowly and carefully not to tread on her excited toddler handler.

Sparkle has been going on fun outings this year with a 10 yo jockey (her first loan pony) they have done dressage, jumping, cross country and hunting. Sparkle has also been enjoying hacking, forest rides and hunting with adult riders. She is safe and sensible on the open forest, happy to canter in a group, first or last, never fizzes up or gets silly. Sparkle is excellent in traffic, she is used to dogs, tractors, cows and other farm animals.

On the ground Sparkle has impeccable manners, she will stand for hours to be groomed, bathed, pulled, clipped or even covered in fancy dress!

Sparkle will live in or out, with mares or geldings or on her own. In the stable she is incredibly clean, she will even wee in a bucket when she comes in. Sparkle has no sensitivities and isn’t fussy, she never bangs the door or has any bad habits, absolutely no vices. She has never been lame with me, she is fit, healthy and full of vitality. Sparkle does have a small melanoma under her tail, this hasn’t increased in size over past couple of years and doesn’t cause her any bother. Sparkle spent several years as a broodmare and was broken in later in life, this has contributed to her excellent health as she most definitely hasn’t been ‘hammered’.

Sparkle is the same to ride at a show as she is at home, she goes into sleep mode when standing still, even on the hunting field she will have a little snooze when stood still. Sparkle is an Excellent traveller, after loading herself she will stand perfectly on the lorry all day, ideal for the big county shows when the rest of us want to get some shopping in. She is perfect to babysit young horses too. Sparkle has an exceptional showing record, almost unbeaten this year. At the New Forest show she was 1st in the adult Connemara class, champion Connemara and res res supreme m&m.

Sparkle is well suited to a mother daughter share, she would be happy doing pony club, happy hacking and hunting.

Tentatively offered, only to the best of private homes. Sales yards and riding schools need not apply.

Sparkle is a truly special pony, she really is one in a million.
