With huge sadness we are tentatively considering finding a new home for our beloved Skye due to rider's unexpected growth spurt.

Skye is a stunning dapple grey 6 year old 14.1hh well bred registered Connemara gelding, half brother to a HOYS WHP winner.

After many months of searching and trying horses he was to be our novice teenage daughter's horse of a lifetime when we bought him 18 months ago. He made her smile from the very first time she rode him, made her and us feel she was safe & she told us "he's the one". Sadly although we thought she had stopped growing - she hadn't & Skye had. At 5'9" she still loves every ride & he carries her fine but he is a fine built Connemara and her legs are just too long to be comfortable especially jumping which they both love.

In 18 months Skye has utterly looked after her. We haven't pushed him in anything but they have tried everything together with his ears pricked every time & always in a snaffle and is admired everywhere we go.

They have hacked extensively - past all manner of farm animals including lots of pigs, sheep, cattle, wild deer, pheasants, donkeys. They hack alone most days in wide open spaces, box to forest etc. They also hack with friends sometimes - Skye is non competitive cantering across fields alongside or behind others, never seeking to race. Also behaved impeccably at several Pleasure rides where they rode round alone alongside other large groups.

Skye has a really lovely jump. He goes into his jumps steadily & will jump from trot or canter giving his young rider confidence. At home they jump up to 85cm (our daughter's limit not the pony's) & have been jumping around 70cm at local competitions as much as COVID has allowed this year. They have been mini cross country training, arena eventing schooling, had dressage lessons and enjoyed Intro & Prelim competitions, riding club training, pole & grid work clinics etc. He has been a great Riding Club pony & would no doubt make a fabulous Pony Club pony. He is always calm in new places & behaves perfectly at shows and events.

He is well behaved for farrier - was previously shod but has excellent feet so now does everything happily barefoot.
He boxes & travels well in a lorry or trailer. We have a 3.5T rear facing lorry. We often box to hacks, and to hire arenas - he's happy in indoor or outdoor arenas. Schools & jumps in open field at home.

He is excellent to catch as always comes over when he sees us, happily lives in or out, always respects electric fences, has excellent manners - easy for non horsey dad to handle & look after!

He has even been used to give lead rein rides to a toddler. He is a generally "nice person" who literally loves children, gives kisses, etc, happily hacked out in tinsel, antlers and bells for Christmas last year. He is a dream child's pony!

Skye has a fantastic future ahead of him, with amazing potential but aged 6 ridden by a novice rider he is not the finished article - ie. he often pokes his nose in the air schooling still. He has however always been incredibly safe. With only a field to school in at home he can be left unridden for weeks due to weather at times & is just as safe to ride next time. He goes beautifully off the leg (not kick along!) & is light in the hand - not strong at all. Currently ridden in straight bar snaffle as is easily ridden from the seat.

Vaccinated, back checked, teeth done, wormed all up to date.

We cannot fault this lovely young pony but have to really reluctantly admit he is just not now big enough for our tall daughter. It will be a heartbreaking sale only to the right home for him where he will continue to be treasured and adored. Our teenage daughter has made a video we can send to those genuinely interested.

  • Perfect allrounder.
SOLD!
  • Irish
  • Bay roan
  • Gelding
  • 20 years
  • 14.2 hands
  • Totally bombproof.
  • Easy in all ways.
  • Perfect allrounder.

Mars has been the perfect first pony for us however he is now surplus to requirement and currently wasted in the field (and getting fat!)

He enjoys plodding round the countryside, hacking and low level jumping.

He is absolutely safe and fantastic for a novice.

He has done unaffiliated dressage, showjumping and ODE’s as well as weekly lessons until recently.

He is great to catch, load, travel, shoe, clip etc. Not fazed by any farm machinery, busy roads etc.

Mars has no vices, can be left for weeks without being ridden and is exactly the same and enjoys being fussed over.

He is currently barefoot and will come with all tack.

A 5* home is required for this much loved pony as types like this are like gold dust and do not come around often.

Please email in first instance.

WANTED TO BUY OR LOAN A VERY SPECIAL PONY

Ref #: 240578
  • 14hh - 14.2hh first pony club schoolmaster / mistress
  • 14hh - 14.2hh first pony club schoolmaster / mistress

We are searching for a true confidence giver to enable my nervous daughter to join Pony Club and start local shows (low level). In an ideal world, a push button ride, balanced paces and a steady jump would be on our wish list. I do appreciate we are looking for a needle in a haystack!

We do not need a dressage / event / competition pony, just a safe sensible willing pony that will help my daughter out when needed

This pony would only need to jump a course of approx 80cm. No bucking / rearing / napping / bolting and must have manners on the ground. Ideally a pony that has been there, done it and got the t-shirt

We are open to an older pony, also a pony that may not pass a 5 stage vetting - But still able to carry on at low level

More than happy to buy or loan and will wait for the right pony. References available from vet / farrier / instructor

Loving home awaits with stables / school and acres of beautiful riding

Increasing numbers of internet advertisers are receiving emails from bogus buyers, attempting to scam sellers.

This tactic is a worldwide problem so we really appreciate our customer keeping us upto date and informed on any suspicious emails that they receive.

August 2020 - We have been informed of a "James Tom" jamesstoreparts@gmail.com who have been emailing advertisers asking for their best price, saying it is a gift for his wife and that the payment will be made by his client by 'England Cashier's Check.' Please ignore this email and if you have time report it to Action Fraud- https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

September 2019 - We have been informed of a "Frank Thomas" frankthomas2930@gmail.com and a "Steven Rocker" stevenrocker1986@gmail.com who have been emailing advertisers asking for their best price, they reply to say they are happy with the price and can you mark the advert as sold and they will send a bank cheque. Please ignore this email and if you have time report it to Action Fraud- https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

We've been informed of a email scam commonly coming from a "Martha Gough" marthagough011@gmail.com and "Mary Susan" with an outlook email address, asking a list of questions & offering to transfer a deposit and an over payment for shipping. Please ignore this email and if you have time report it to Action Fraud- https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ . For more details of the over payment scam please click HERE

These scams can vary, however emails are often written in broken English and in an over friendly style. Advice from Action Fraud is to cease corresponding and report it via their website https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.

Some advice to help you avoid being caught out:

  • Do not deal with buyers proposing to transfer more money than required
  • Always try to speak to the buyer on the phone, and ideally meet them in person!
  • Always ask for the buyers full name, telephone number, and address
  • Steer clear of money transfer services / bank transfers, instead, opt for a safer alternative ie PayPal
  • Keep a paper trail and always get a receipt

We are always here to help, so please give our team a call if you have any queries or concerns
