Ray is a lovely, affectionate Irish-bred gelding who really is a special young horse. He has a wonderful temperament, a kind and willing nature, and a genuine desire to please. He is the sort of horse that makes life easy, always trying his best and taking everything asked of him in his stride.

Standing at approximately 16hh, Ray is a quality 4-year-old bay gelding with a lovely stamp, good conformation and a super attitude towards his work. Despite his young age, he has a sensible, level-headed outlook on life and is a pleasure both to ride and to have around the yard.

Breeding & Quality

Ray has some lovely Irish Sport Horse breeding behind him. He is by Radolin, out of a mare by Ballytrasna Cruis, bringing together traditional Irish bloodlines including Cruising and Clover Hill.

This is a lovely combination of Irish breeding, and Ray certainly has the quality, temperament and willing attitude to match. He is a smart, attractive young horse with plenty of potential to develop into a very useful allrounder or amateur competition horse.

Temperament & Rideability

Ray really does have a fantastic temperament. He is kind, affectionate and straightforward, with none of the sharpness or silliness sometimes associated with young horses. He is never strong or complicated and always gives his rider a lovely feel.

He is a horse who wants to do the right thing and genuinely enjoys his work. His willing attitude and forgiving nature make him an exciting prospect for an amateur rider looking for a quality young horse to produce and enjoy.

Flatwork

On the flat, Ray is riding very nicely for his age. He works sweetly in all three paces, is light in the hand and responsive to the aids without being sharp or overly sensitive.

He has a lovely natural way of going, with a balanced, comfortable feel and a willingness to learn. He is straightforward to ride and continues to improve with every outing.

Showjumping

Ray has a super attitude towards his jumping and always tries his best to please.

He is honest, willing and forgiving, happily popping a variety of fences, including fillers and different types of showjumps. He doesn't look to make a fuss or complicate things and approaches his jumping with a sensible, positive attitude.

He has all the qualities to develop into a lovely Riding Club, Pony Club or amateur competition horse.

Cross Country

Cross country, Ray is equally genuine and straightforward.

He happily tackles a variety of natural fences, including ditches, banks and water, taking everything in his stride. He remains rideable, sensible and easy to manage, showing a lovely attitude towards new questions.

He is the sort who gives his rider confidence rather than looking for an excuse to make things difficult.

Hacking & Outings

Ray is a pleasure to hack both alone and in company and is very good in traffic.

He is sensible in open spaces, happy to canter alongside other horses without becoming strong or silly, and remains easy to pull up.

He takes new surroundings in his stride and is a lovely horse to take away from home. He is easy to load, tack up and manage, with a relaxed and sensible approach to outings.

On the Ground

Ray is an absolute gentleman to have around the yard.

He is kind, affectionate and loves attention and fuss. He is easy to catch, groom, handle and manage in everyday situations.

He is good for the farrier, clipping and loading onto both a lorry and trailer. He is a straightforward, uncomplicated young horse who is a pleasure to deal with.

No stable vices.
