Would you like a 138 that has already jumped on a team for England, and would think nothing of a day's hunting the week after?

Are you looking for a 138 for an ambitious junior rider who wants to be competitive, and wants a pony that can be relied upon to jump clear when it counts? Barney has done that abroad, twice this year. He is current ridden by a 12 year old girl, she only sat on him twice before The Irish Home Pony week in Cavan. That outing produced five double clears and placings out of 6 classes (90cm &100cm) and says a great deal about how reliable Barney is. He then went to the Brussels Stephex Masters in August, where he jumped double clear and was placed in every class over three days, finishing third in the Grand Prix.

Show jumping is not the whole story - Barney has evented and hunted, and he is the same pony in a hunting field as he is in a warm-up arena. It is also reassuring that he is easy to handle in the yard and an easy ride.

He is careful and very quick with his feet when needed with the scope to go on to the biggest 138 BS tracks, so he is for an ambitious junior rider who wants a pony that is competitive, but who also wants to have fun across the calendar doing a mix of things, not just in the show jumping ring.

Located in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside Leake Connemaras offer Foal and Youngstock Livery with all basic handling taken care of so that you can be stress free about your youngster.

Youngsters are placed in small same sex and age groups with 24 hour turnout in summer in large grass fields and paddocks with secure fencing. In winter youngsters live in group barns with access to good quality haylage and youngstock balancer. Research shows that small herd living with adequate grazing, space and shelter maximises social, emotional and physical well being.

In addition to the above youngsters get the basic handling they need to form the foundations for later training such as bathing, grooming, sessions on the horse walker and horsebox loading. Our aim is to produce well rounded young horses and ponies that will excel in life, whether that be as someone's next olympic hopeful or family friend
