On the ground, he truly is a gentleman in every sense of the word. He is kind, polite and impeccably mannered, happily handled by everyone from Grandma or Nanny in a wheelchair to a two-year-old child walking through the yard. He is happy to stand all day being fussed, often brought in by my daughter and tacked up in the middle of the yard without a headcollar.

He would make a perfect mother daughter share or a family horse, he is NOT a strong, buzzy or hot ride. He will come out the same whether he has had a week off or been ridden all week. He is impeccably mannered and is more than happy to plod around steadily or pick up for a rider wanting more as he has done with me. Anyone watching Aachen this year will have seen his sire Total Hope perform under Isabel Freese, this lad has all the paces and the flair to excel at the highest level.

HONEST DISCLOSURE - He came to us this summer as a restart, attempted saddling gone wrong via well meaning amateurs. It’s fair to say he showed us some moves in the round pen on day 1, but has since been quiet and willing day 2 onwards, he just didn’t understand the rules. Once we’d established a routine with relaxation and reward, he’s turned out to be really quiet, low dominance, introvert, loves human contact, seeks reassurance. He stands by the gate for us every morning awaiting his trip around the block, being saddled and led from Grace the piebald cob (see the video).

We are struggling for winter grazing this year so something has to give. We have a stunning selection of 3 and 4 year olds in training, but he’ll need a solid week to back and we simply haven’t had the time.

If we keep him over the winter we’ll finish the job in January and he’ll be 15k upwards and fly out the yard. This is an opportunity to take him now and realise the value in him. Full X-rays available.

A promising, super smart prospect with all the right attributes. 

Just under 16hh this lovely, 6 year old, Skewbald, gelding by Laxton Painted Chief out of a TB mare has all the makings of a good competition horse. He moves well and improves all the time. 

He is happy to school and jump. Very good out hacking alone or in Company. Travels well. Good to shoe. He started his education last year 2025 when he was first backed. 

He has been brought on quietly to build his body strength and not be pushed. He didn't do much this summer as I'm sure I do not have to explain why, heat and hard ground! And my lorry was off from May until the end of August this year, so we had to use other transport. 

I do take the horses to the BRC qualifiers which I enjoy. He won his dressage qualifier with a good 67.5% and always placed in others. He was in the qualifying 70 SJ team that won. BUT jumped his first SJ Derby, 30/8/26, 85cm being placed 6th. He has a lot of capability to jump a lot bigger. He has been XC twice outside as we do not have any where in Cornwall to practice anymore. 

He has good paces. For a smaller horse he covers the ground, without trying he usually has the fastest time. It's more schooling at this stage. 

I would like to think a teenager coming off ponies would be good or a smaller adult wanting to enjoy a very loveable horse.

In addition my daughter has had great fun with her doing NSEA dressage, British Showjumping up to 1.05m, Pony club and camps.

At home and away, Coco is everything you could wish for. She is a delightful, jaunty hack, whether alone or in company, is sociable, sensible and kind, and has impeccable manners both on the ground and under saddle. She is easy to catch, clip, shoe, load, and travel, with no stable vices.

Coco is a genuine confidence-giver with a huge heart. She is safe, forgiving, fun and given us the most incredible memories. We are parting with her reluctantly because my daughter is going to university and giving up eventing.
