DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Based at Rolleston Centre

Meet Oreo, a cute little pony who is looking for a new home as a project pony who can start his ridden career once he turns 4 years old. Oreo would suit a home with an experienced handler who has the time and patience to give him consistent handling.

Oreo is currently living out on restricted grazing 24/7 with geldings and can be part stabled. Oreo is a known escape artist, so if he is being turned out with electric fencing this needs to be with a strong connection.

Oreo has a bright future ahead as a ridden pony once he’s fully matured. He’s still young, so for now he’s looking for an experienced and knowledgeable home that can continue his groundwork, allow him time to grow, and prepare him for a ridden career in the future.

Meet Duchess, a pretty young mare who is looking for her new home as a non-ridden companion. As a Thoroughbred type, Duchess is excellent at taking additional grass! Meaning she doesn't need restrictive management in any form. A great addition to other large horses of similar management.

Duchess is currently living out 24/7 and has been stabled here at the centre. She can live with both mares and geldings and is very friendly and easy to handle making her the perfect addition to any horsey family.

Duchess would suit a home where she can be pampered, loved and somewhere she can grow and bond with her handler. Although Duchess isn’t a ridden horse she is very kind and loving and fits into any routine.

  • Can live out 24/7 or part stable

- Based at our Burford centre -

Tweety Pie is a sweet-natured, affectionate little cob mare who is looking for a loving companion-only home. She adores attention, enjoys being around people, and is happiest when she can be part of someone’s daily routine.

She is easy to catch, lead, and groom, making her a pleasure to handle. She does need a bit of continued support with having her feet picked out—she can be a little fidgety, but is improving with consistent training.

As a companion, Tweety Pie is fantastic with both mares and geldings, settling nicely into a herd and keeping the peace. She can live out year-round or part stable, depending on your setup. Being a typical good-doer, she will need restricted grazing to help manage her weight.

Tweety Pie would love a home where she can enjoy in-hand walks with a friend, spending quality time exploring and bonding.

If you’re looking for a kind, cuddly companion horse who will brighten your yard, Tweety Pie may be your perfect match.

Lady has been with us for just under 3 years. She is a head turner and receives complements everywhere she goes. Absolutely stunning pony.

Lady has previously competed up to 110cm BS herself and has been expertly bred for showjumping. She is fine and has great composition, having been told by vets she is a perfect example of how ponies should be built.

Unfortunately her jumping career has come to an end as she was placed in the wrong hands and no longer loves jumping- although has been schooling beautifully on the flat for the last few months.

As she is still young, we want to give someone the opportunity to purchase her as a broodmare.

She is a 148 pony no bigger no smaller- not a 148 thats actually 15’2. We believe she would produce some lovely stock and be an amazing mother.

Vet’s suspect she may have already had a foal in Ireland at 3yo, although no documentation.

She is good with other horses living out 24/7 with a mixed herd. She is also happy alone ot staying in- easiest pony to keep.

So easy to handle and loves a fuss- has been led by children and non horsey family members and she is a true gem.

Part of our family so she will only go to the absolute best home who we will want to keep in contact with.

Happy to share passport pics w serious enquiries.
