MIDNIGHT
Striking 2019 black ride & drive cob mare standing at a full up 14.2hh.

This lovely mare is a happy hackers dream, she doesn’t want to go round and round an arena, she wants to be out in the open countryside hacking for hours, or driving.

Midnight is very steady, she will tolerate a complete novice, great confidence giver and is an absolute armchair to ride. She’s steady, safe and easy.

Midnight has three comfortable paces, she’s a weight carrier and hugely takes up the leg, she has her full history known, and has always been a driving and hacking cob, she will go out in 60MPH traffic, isn’t worried about the heaviest and scariest of traffic and is absolutely everything you want and need from a hack.

To drive, Midnight would even suit a beginner driver, someone learning the ropes, she is so easy, confidence giving and straightforward to drive, she jogs out, off and on road, and she will stand patiently at junctions and waits.

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

He happily lives in or out, and turns out sensibly with both mares and geldings. Patrick has loaded and travelled on a wagon several times without issue, and has been walked out in traffic and seen farm machinery.

With his temperament, he could excel as a future allrounder, safe hack, hunter, or even a therapy/RDA type with the right training. He’s a total blank canvas ready for someone to bring out his full potential.

A super friendly, easy going cob who will be a lovely project for someone wanting a genuine youngster with a bright future ahead. Cobs of this size, stamp and nature are increasingly hard to find. Patrick combines height, bone and presence with an exceptionally kind, easy going outlook.
