Quality piebald mare

Quality piebald mare

Ref #: 396569

£8,500 ONO
  • Cob

  • Mare
  • 13 years
  • 14.3hh / 150cm
  • Forward going, sensible hack
  • Owned and bred by us, so full knowledge
  • Equal Woah and Go

We have bred and owned Mulligan all her life. She has always been super easy to do, so much so, shes always the one who gets left, and not ridden. Whilst I find her super easy, and if anything, I like it when shes not been ridden for a month and is a little fresh, we have had a few try her and found her too forward for them.

There is no need to kick on this mare, leg on means go. She marchs in walk and trots out, keeping up with any horse. She loves a canter across the fields and tracks, but pulls up easy in a snaffle.

Personally I find circles in an arena boring, (plus we don’t have an arena) so we do not do it. If you want a dressage horse, you will need to put the work in, as our idea of fun is hacking. However she has been to dressage and show jump shows with a friend many years ago, so the buttons will still be there, its up to you if you want them, and if so you might need to re program.

Her forte is hacking, heavy traffic is no issue, gates she’s a pro, she’s safe in open spaces, she goes first or last, and is confident on her own.

You can ride and lead her, or from her, so super easy.

She is a unit, i’m 5ft6 and she takes up my leg, and some, I’ve never felt too big for her. Shes super comfortable to ride with plenty of neck and shoulder in front of you.

She is only for sale as I’ve bred myself a taller version and if she gets ridden once a fortnight she’s done well.

If you are into your gypsy cob breeding you will see she has great breeding, and is very correct if you wanted to show.

She needs her own person, but if you are coming from a riding school, are used to kicking every stride, or are hoping for a mother daughter share for your ten year old who is still struggling with rising trot, she is unlikely to be for you, you are likely to feel over horsed.

She is kind, super fun and gives you a great fun ride.

She is and has always been barefoot, easy to clip, bath, spray etc. She is vaccinated, has had a foal (we are a stud) three years ago which she did easily and her foal is still with us (also for sale).

Her ideal home is someone who wants to hack out, have a good canter across fields, do some fun rides etc

We have them in each night, and in the winter we have little / no turnout and she’s happy to stay in 24/7. She doesn’t get fresh or silly when in.

The home and person is every important, as she is a member of our family, but she is surplus to needs at the moment, and she could give someone a lot of fun.

She has a Kent & Masters saddle, Seddon bridle and a larger wardrobe than me that I’m happy to discuss

Stunning 15.3hh Black Cob Gelding

15.3hh, 8-year-old black cob gelding. A genuine, kind-natured all-rounder with a lovely temperament and a real weight-carrying build.

Ideal for hacking, trekking, or general riding, and could suit a confident mother/daughter share.

He has been ridden by a variety of riders, schools well, hacks confidently, and has popped a jump. He is good in traffic, comes to call in the field, and is a pleasure to handle. He has also seen the hounds and was unfazed.

Up to date with vaccinations, dentist, and farrier, and shod in front. Full history known since a foal.

Although he is still gaining experience and mileage, he has a fantastic attitude and a bright future ahead. This is a very genuine sale due to his owner retiring from riding.

Please note he will not be sold to novice or nervous riders due to his low mileage.

Located in Newcastle upon Tyne on sales livery with Danny Nicholson.

Serious enquiries only.

Please call to speak to the owner.

Meet Rosie, a 5-year-old traditional black Cob mare looking for her next home. She is a kind, willing mare who always wants to please and always tries her best in everything that is asked of her.

She excels in her flatwork and, in my personal opinion, would be well suited to either a confident novice or an experienced rider looking to do showing or dressage, thanks to the way she moves. She has a lovely attitude, is nicely put together, and has the traditional cob type and presence that would make her stand out in the show ring.

She will happily pop over a small cross pole and a little log in the woods she takes everything in her stride. Rosie is a good girl to hack on the road she’s seen cars, lorries and motorbikes and isn’t fazed by them. She may have a little looks at things, but she never does anything naughty she just carries on walking. She never naps or does anything silly on the roads. She's a very sweet mare. She hacks alone or in company, is happy to take the lead or sit behind, and is sensible for her age.

Rosie would be ideal for someone wanting a smart traditional cob to bring on for showing, hacking, and all-round fun.

Rosie has been to the beach with a novice rider, who she took excellent care of. She confidently led the whole way, walking through crowds of people to reach the beach. She has also been to the woods, where she enjoyed swimming in the river and happily popped over a little log.

Rosie is good to load onto both a horsebox and a trailer. I have videos of her loading, and she is happy to travel on her own or with company.

If you're interested, I have plenty of photos and videos of Rosie and am happy to answer any questions or arrange a call.

Qualified for and competed at the ESUK Championships in both the 70cm and 80cm classes (2024) — finished 6th in the ESUK 70 Championship after jumping double clear in both preliminary rounds and the championship round and finished in the top five every day across both classes

Qualified for the ACE 70cm Arena Eventing Championships 2024 (held at Aintree), jumping double clear and finishing 11th

Qualified for the Eland Lodge Arena Eventing Championship (70) in 2024, and again for the Eland Lodge Championships 2025/26

Qualified for both the Trailblazers and Sunshine Tour Championships in 2023 and 2024

Regularly scores 70%+ in dressage tests, with eventing dressage scores consistently sub 30s

Jumps confident double clears at 60/70cm, with experience up to 85/90cm

Dandy excels in every discipline and is truly a one-in-a-million-type pony. He's snaffle mouthed through all three phases and very well schooled, scoring 70%+ in dressage tests. He consistently jumps double clears at 60/70, has previously jumped up to 85/90cm, and is very rarely out of the placings. A little XC machine, Dandy jumps many clear rounds in both arena eventing and cross country. He's qualified for countless championships, most recently the Eland Lodge Championship 2026, and is regularly out at Pony Club and Riding Club rallies.

He's been to many Pony Club camps, rallies and stay-away shows, always behaving impeccably. He hacks out well, is good in open spaces, and is fantastic with traffic. He travels happily alone or in company, in a box or trailer, and is easily loaded even by children. He's up to date with vaccinations and wormers, and is good for the farrier, dentist and other routine care.

Dandy is a very special, loving pony and a child's dream. He can, however, throw in a buck if held onto too tightly, so he is not suitable for a novice or nervous rider. He's looking for a capable little jockey who can bring out the best in him therefore finding him the right home is our utmost priority. This is a very sad sale, and a 5* home is a must. He will also come with his full wardrobe. More videos and pictures are available on request.

Oakfield Edna 🖤🤍

Edna is a beautiful 12-year-old piebald Gypsy Cob mare, standing at approximately 14.1hh.

A true homebred, Edna has been with us since she was a foal, born here on the farm and has been a much-loved and trusted member of our trekking centre team ever since. She is a kind, genuine mare with a lovely temperament and has looked after riders of all abilities throughout her life.

Edna is true to type, good to catch, shoe, load, bath and happily lives in a mixed herd of mares and geldings.

She is the ultimate confidence-giver, taking both complete beginners and experienced riders safely out on the trails. She is excellent in traffic, around farm machinery and livestock, and is completely at home on the wide open Welsh hills.

Edna likes to take life in her own pace but happily steps up when asked. She has done some light schooling but has mainly been used for hacking. She is the type that you can not ride for 6 months, hop back on and it feels like she never had a day off.

Edna would be perfectly suited to a happy hacking home where she can continue to enjoy exploring the countryside on hacks, days out & fun rides with a kind and caring owner. Edna does hack out alone but is used to going out in a group day to day.

Edna has some fantastic breeding, along with some lovely paces, she would be an asset to any breeding programme or anyone looking to hit the show ring.

Edna is a real gem & a type hard to find, this is a reluctant sale due to closure of our trekking centre and reduction in stock. We are looking for the very best home where she can enjoy the next chapter of her life.

⭐ Genuine enquiries only – the best home is our priority for this very special mare.

I am searching for a trustworthy, best friend type to welcome to our kind, knowledgeable, family home. Our horses are treated as part of our family & they receive the absolute best of care. I would be happy to provide references & to keep in touch.

I have ridden for several years & consider myself a knowledgeable & capable rider. However, due to ongoing health issues with my horse, who is now retired, I haven’t ridden as consistently in more recent years & so I am no longer as confident as I once was. Therefore, I am seeking a laid back, best friend type, who does not need riding most days to remain safe & sane (realistically, I will generally ride 3-4 times a week).

We will be enjoying fun hacks from home, attending organised pleasure rides, forest trips, XC schooling & some clinics. I will at times want to hack alone but will also hack alongside my young daughter on her (sometimes quirky!) horse, so it is especially important that I find a level-headed, trustworthy type who I can depend on. Due to us going out in our horsebox regularly, I would like to find a horse who is good to load / travel &, most importantly, who remains calm & polite to handle & ride in different environments.

Our horses are kept at home with us & have all year turnout (stabled overnight during winter). I would love to find a gentle natured, polite character & a true best friend type.

We live in a rural area & although we generally meet very little traffic, when we do, it is often likely to be a tractor/farm vehicle. Therefore, it is hugely important that my new horse is confident around this type of traffic.

* I do appreciate that no horse is ‘perfect’ & that ‘bombproof’ does not exist & I am open to compromise, but please do just be honest about any possible known ‘issues’ as I will not buy unseen & would want to have any potential horse vetted *

We are based in Norfolk so ideally looking for something in or around East Anglia but would travel further if plenty of info, videos/photos could be provided beforehand. I have a sensible budget & very relaxed & loving forever home for the right horse.
