Spartan is an outstanding Friesian Sports Horse colt. He is currently still entire but can be gelded at the stud he’s at. He is not stallion like and has the kindest temperament. February born so he’s 3.5 years old and I’d say ready to start working towards a ridden career.

His father was a registered 17.2hh Friesian stallion with enormous flamboyant movement, the sweetest and easiest stallion. His mother, an ISH and successful former showjumper, was also 17.1hh. Both with the most wonderful temperaments and lots of charisma. This boy got the best from both. He has the Friesian looks and charm, with versatility of a sports model.

He was imprint trained from birth, and handled daily for his first 16 months of life, before going off to live in a colt herd for the last two years. I have personally put over 100 hours of handling and liberty training in with him and absolutely nothing phases him. As a yearling I felt safer having my children around him than most adult horses. He has been around noisy children, dogs, machinery, tractors in the yard etc.

He has had the best feed, care and socialisation I could possibly give him, given that I bred him to keep for myself. However, we have emigrated to the USA this last year, and I am currently pregnant, due any day, so the idea of importing him any time soon is seeming unjustifiable. I’ve also changed discipline since moving to the states and won’t have anywhere convenient to keep him out here for another year or so, so there are many reasons why I’ve grown to feel there’s a more perfect person out there for him.

Spartan will make a terrific young dressage horse or allrounder. He will be a breeze to start under saddle, given the handling he has had and his calm demeanour. I have a lot of videos of him from his birth to 16 months old, when I kept him at home before he went to live in his colt herd. On this link I have a more recent video too from early 2026. Amongst the younger videos I have one of me sitting on his back while he was laid down in the field, he was 15 months old. He loved human company as a youngster and was a respectful but very playful young man. Now he is all grown up, he is truly one in a million and will be an absolute dream horse for someone.

He is based at a stud in Kent. He is 100% open to vetting and has never once been lame or sick. I cannot be there to show him but the stud owner and staff are very professional and there’s an arena where he can be brought into so that his movement and ground manners can be observed.

This has been a very difficult decision, so please only very serious enquiries. I would prefer to arrange a call time via WhatsApp and then to speak on the phone. We are in Texas, six hours behind the UK.

I am looking for a 5* home for him, with a very experienced person, to ensure the best care and fit possible. Ideally I’d rather not let him go to a livery yard unless the care is high end and turnout is basically unlimited. I’m firm on price. I had agreed a sale at his prior asking price back in April but the buyer pulled out last minute due to their own situation, and I thought at that time I would keep him. I had a good level of interest at £15k and the only reason I have decided to reduce him is because I want to be able to choose from potential buyers over the next week or so, rather than this being a drawn out process. I’m going to be highly selective of a prospective owner so I very much welcome long messages about the type of home you can offer, over questions that can be answered by properly reading his advert. Duque is a stunning 16-year-old grey Spanish/Cruzado gelding, standing approximately 15.3hh. He has a Spanish passport and is fully microchipped.

Duque was trained in Spain and has been taught a number of traditional Spanish tricks and movements. He can perform Spanish Walk, bow down on command and several other tricks. He is a clever horse who clearly has had plenty of training in the past, and videos of what he can do are available on request.

We are not advertising Duque as a dressage horse or schoolmaster. He is a Spanish trick-trained horse who we feel has plenty of potential in the right hands.
