A very sad sale of a truly super mare. Absolutely ball of a mare, 16.2hh but huge amount of bone and presence, you would think she was much bigger. Full registered Irish Draught, fabulous class 1 breeding throughout, she is eligible for grading, has not been graded herself. Breeding including King of Diamonds x Holycross x Gentle Ruler. She has spent a little time in the maternity ward breeding foals, she;s been a good mother and would be a credit to any stud to breed quality stock from.
She is good to do in all ways, hacks alone or in company, good in all traffic. Good to hack around the fields and open spaces alone and with others. I ride her in a snaffle, she has done a couple of Mondays hunting with the Fernie and has hunted in Ireland, I hunted her in a running gag and she was perfect. I have taken her to fun rides and many group outings and pub hacks and she is just the best, and solid as a rock.
Zoey has been to arena hires and UA shows, she is brave over fillers and pretty athletic for a big old unit! She has been xc schooling and was brilliant, super brave over all the scary fences, straight and genuine to the ditches and water. She gives you a lovely feel over a fence and really wants to be careful.
She is working well on the flat- as a consequence of being a broodmare she is a little weak over her top line, and she has a very large canter, so she is a bit green in this area and needs time and conditioning work to build her up- Rome wasn’t built in a day! She’s super intelligent and loves schooling and learning new things and working over poles, and she is nice and light in the mouth.
Zoey has been ridden on the beach, been to fun rides, and has been ridden by novices- including giving my 2yr old daughter rides around the yard, she is a v quiet, genuine and straight mare.
She moves well, she is sound, straight and correct and has a spring in her step in everything that she does!
Good with the farrier, good to clip, load, travel, bath, mane pull etc.
IF YOU DO NOT WANT A MARE SHE IS NOT FOR YOU! Zo is a horse with a big personality. She can pull a face when you put the saddle on, she can pull a face while you grab her rug at the shoulders and pull it forwards. She hasnt ever bitten or kicked. She does turn out with other horses.
I currently have her on Regumate, as I found when she had her first season she kept turning round and biting herself. She was no different in ridden work and handling, but I found that she was obviously in discomfort and I didn’t love that for her. She will be sold with her current bottle of regumate, which at 10ml a day should last for the rest of this summer until her seasons shut down. She has a capped hock which is of no concern, purely cosmetic, and a couple of scars on her bum. She is open to any vetting, she’s a sound tough old girl.
She is not suitable for a total novice or nervous person, she is not suitable as a very heavy weight carrier as she is weaker over her top line from having foals. I want someone to look at her and her massive head with adoration the way that I do and is an out and out mare lover!!
I think she will be a really fun riding club eventer/hunter/dressage/showjumper. She’s a talented girl and lovely to ride. She is incredibly affectionate and comes to call in the field.
