DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

ALFIE

Gorgeous 2019 15hh registered Highland. Alfie has been in the same home since a foal, he is a kind, friendly and sweet on the ground. Alfie has three lovely paces, he’s comfortable and steady, will ride off your voice or your aids and he’s trustworthy and easy in every way, such a safe, happy, laid back chap. Alfie has done fun rides, been to the forest, river, and has done most riding club activities, he also has a few showing classes under his belt.

Alfie will turn his hoof to any job, he’s easy. He has plenty of promise with his jumping, unbothered by coloured fillers or rustic fences, a nice pop in him and will help his pilot out, he will jump from a trot or canter off any stride and doesn’t mind if his rider is wobbly or nervous.

Alfie is fantastic in traffic and he hacks alone and in company, he’s been excellent here with the farm machinery, nothing seems to bother him. Super sane and sensible in open spaces. A nice horse for someone to go out tomorrow and have fun with. Open to any vet or trainer £10500

NOT A NOVICE RIDE. NOT A FIRST HORSE.

Timber is seeking a confident, experienced home where his quirks will be met with patience and humour. He’s a fun, cheeky character who thrives with a rider who can guide him with calm authority and consistency.

On the ground, Timber is an absolute gem. He’s safe around children and dogs, easy to handle, and the definition of a "dope on a rope." He adores fuss and attention, always keen to be part of the action and every yard conversation.
Under saddle, Timber has a few tricks up his sleeve. He is not malicious or dangerous, but he does enjoy testing the boundaries every now and then — especially if he senses uncertainty. With a confident, experienced rider, his little tantrums are short-lived, and he quickly settles down and focuses on the job.

With consistent riding and routine, Timber has made excellent progress with myself and my trainer. He has three lovely paces, works in a soft outline, and has a super-comfy canter. He is clever, quick to learn, and genuinely wants to please once he trusts his rider. Timber is incredibly bold to a fence. He isn’t phased by fillers or colours, and gives 100% every time.

Hacking is one of Timber’s strong suits. He is incredibly level-headed, doesn’t get fizzy or silly in open spaces, and happily walks on the buckle. He genuinely enjoys exploring and always leaves the yard with a spring in his step. While he may occasionally nap, this is easily managed by a confident rider and doesn’t escalate.

As my first horse, Timber has proven to be a bit more than I can confidently manage — this is an incredibly tough decision, and he will only go to a five-star home where he’ll be understood, enjoyed and given the life he deserves. He deserves someone who can enjoy his big personality and give him the experiences he’s ready for.

Passed a 5-stage vetting in June
Currently barefoot and great with the farrier, vet and dentist
Out 24/7 on individual turnout, but would likely prefer paired or mixed turnout
Up to date on everything
Will come with recently fitted tack and a selection of rugs
Open to vettings and viewings

If you’re looking for a horse that’s fun, full of personality, and ready to go places with the right rider, Timber might be the one for you. Please enquire for plenty of photos and videos

No loans or LWVTB. Serious enquiries only.

Wefan Kelowna (Kallie)
15.1 dark bay 16 year old Welsh partbred mare.

Kallie has done all pony club activities, she rides nicely on the flat and has a very scopey jump in her.
She is great to hunt, forward but safe.
She hacks nicely alone and in company.

She would suit an experienced rider as she can become strong jumping and out hunting and can occasionally nap.
She hasn’t competed a lot recently but certainly has the scope to do so, happily jumping 90cm/1m at home.

Kallie is excellent in traffic and very good to clip shoe and catch. We load her in a chifney as she can get a bit bargy. Once on board she travels quietly and is happy to stand on the box at events.

Kallie is up to date with vaccinations and worming. At present she has a capped hock which is being treated and going down nicely.

3 quality paces on the flat, with basic lateral work, Been ridden on the flat by novices and behaved perfectly.

She is super careful, does have a few quirks which I'll discuss fully and wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. She unfortunately does have an old tendon injury that flares up now and then, has a few wingles and capped hocks so won’t pass a vetting hence price. Molly is a quality Irish Draught mare, well-established on the flat. She has competed unaffiliated in show jumping, ODEs and hunter trials up to 80cm, proving herself to be a bold, genuine and straightforward ride.

She has also been cross-country schooled and will confidently tackle anything asked of her – timber, ditches, water, hedges and more.

Over the summer, Molly has enjoyed numerous fun rides, riding holidays and hunt rides, both with and without hounds. She is happy in large groups, remains sensible in open spaces, and is a real pleasure to take out.

This season, Molly has already been out on several Hound Exercises with both the Crawley & Horsham and the Surrey Union. She is mannerly with hounds, stands quietly at the meet, and is equally happy opening gates, leading over fences or following at the back. She will also peel off and hack home alone without fuss.

At home, she is very straightforward with no stable vices. She is easy to catch, clip, load and shoe, stands quietly for the farrier, and is currently shod all round.

Out hacking, Molly is excellent in traffic, across motorway bridges, on busy bridleways, and in wide open spaces. She is unfazed by umbrellas, dogs, cyclists, livestock and farm machinery.

Molly would suit someone looking for a brave and reliable hunter or team chaser, but would also make a smart and versatile all-rounder.

ECHO - 17Hh 12YO Irish Mare - £4995 OVNO. Will PX - Nationwide / International Delivery Available.

Echo is a quality looking 12YO Irish Mare with a good stamp of the breed. Walks, trots canters, will work in an outline and jump. Previously hunted, and was an all-rounder. This mare really is 1/3 of the price she could be and is a cheap mare for someone to either produce or deal on in time.

Echo has recently been bought back into work after time off for slight lameness. She has improved gradually with time and without medication. Been in the field being a horse and went straight back to her job.

Echo has bundles of potential but appears to have been allowed to get away with things and as a result, requires a confident rider to push her through. I feel she would come right with good ridden work from a good rider. She has shown to go beautifully apart from this and could go on to jump, hunt, dressage - you name it. I have videos of young children riding her earlier this year.

Echo is a very sweet mare. Loads and travels perfectly, will stand for the farrier, stand to be washed / groomed. She is a pleasure to have on the yard. Stables but has primarily lived out at mine. I will be sad to see this mare leave - but they only come to mine for one reason - to sell on!

Viewings / Vettings welcome. Based in Essex, delivery available.

The lovely Tally is looking for her new home after a very short and unsuccessful racing career.

Tally is very easy to do in all ways and is a lovely horse to have around. She has a lovely and kind temperament and loves a bit of attention.

Finished racing sound and healthy. She’s had some downtime and is now ready to get cracking with a job. She's a straightforward ride, has good paces and will make a nice all-rounder. She’s just come in from the field and had a little walk and trot under saddle, and she was quite happy. Tally hasn’t done any schooling, show jumping or XC - she is very much a project.

Injury and vice-free. She does have a couple of small sarcoids, none that would interfere with tack.

Good to load and travel, good with the farrier and vet.

Looking for an experienced home that will give her lots of time and love. She wouldn’t suit a novice due to being a young ex-racehorse. Please, no timewasters.

Devastating sale of a one in a million mare due to needing to cut back

We bought Pippa from Ireland at the beginning of the year where she had been professionally produced for two seasons, she had many wins in Ireland under saddle, she is an old head on young shoulders and is easy to do anything with.

Pippa is the ultimate allrounder, she loves hacking alone or in company and is good with everything she meets, she will go for miles on the buckle with her ears pricked and she adores water. She has attended fun rides this summer with my novice husband and was foot perfect.

On the ground she is as easy as they come, good to load, travel, shoe, catch, turnout etc, never mareish, we muck out around her and lead her in and out with our geldings. Amazing to clip and bath (I do her alone without a head collar and I am 5ft)

To ride Pippa is forward going and eager to please, she loves her work and is super trainable with 4 very good paces, not spooky or sharp but she is not a plod, snaffle mouthed with no gadgets. She requires minimal working in at competitions and she loves going out and about. She has huge potential for dressage and is working elementary at home, never done BD but has done several unaffiliated tests never scoring less than 70%. She is no different if she is ridden every day or after a few days off. Pippa is super safe and I have used her to give my novice husband lessons where she drops down a gear and looks after him beautifully

This season she has done a handful of competitions, she was reserve light horse at South West Pony, she did one HOYS qualifier at the July Stoneleigh where she was 5th in the Coloured class (only amateur) and 6th in the LW cob class with excellent comments from both ride judges, we feel once she has finished maturing that she will be a definite hoys contender. She is beautifully marked and moves straight.

Pippa loves jumping and is a true sports cob, she successfully took a dressage rider round her first course in 20 years gaining a 4th in arena eventing in a class of 17. She is bold, brave and scopey and would also do the working cob classes

Whilst Pippa would undoubtedly continue to be a top class competition horse she would also make the most amazing mother / daughter or son share or just a safe quality allrounder for someone to enjoy

Our plan was to hunt her this season, of which I am sure she will love and excel at. Pippa is overstamped with CHAPS.

This is a truly heartbreaking decision as we know how difficult she would be to find again.

She is priced accordingly, please WhatsApp me in the first instance.
Full quality wardrobe and her tack is available by separate negotiation

A type hard to find! 15.2hh 9yrs cob X coloured mare. Same home since 4yrs old and full history known.

Absolutely loves her jumping and has Competed up-to BE100 and BS discovery with many outings in the ribbons. Competed successfully dressage level to novice. Judges really like her.

Team chased successfully at intermediate level. Done fun rides and hunted which she also thoroughly enjoys.

Hacks alone and in company. Good in traffic and excellent in open spaces. Does not get silly in open fields. Never bucks or rears.

The most genuine kind mare you can come across. Enjoys her work and only wants to please.

I rode her throughout my pregnancy and I trust her completely. She has given me years of fun and is ready to do the same for someone else.

This is a heartbreaking sale and due to being diagnosed with mild arthritis in her coffin joint I feel she will be better suited in a home where she can compete at the lower levels rather than be pushed towards the bigger tracks.

This is easily managed and she has so much more to give but at the lower levels. Will go out and win all day BE80! Happy to discuss full medical history and open to any vetting.

Would be suited to a riding club home and is an excellent candidate for BE80 grassroots. Would be very competitive at this level. Equally she would be happy doing fun rides/beach rides.

Experienced five star home only. This horse deserves only the best!

Up to date with everything. Teeth, physio, vaccs etc……

Good to shoe, clip, easy to do in all ways. Good to travel but does prefer a side loader equ trek trailer or 3.5tonne lorry.

Based Wolverhampton.

Many videos and pics available on request.

Good trial facilities

Simba is an extremely sought after type, offering flashy movement, a talented jump, lovable character, and good temperament.

He is well bred by Tymor the tramp, a very successful showing Welsh stallion that oozes quality and presence, his dam is by Trevallion Flash Jack, a stallion used predominantly for showing and produced numerous horses who went on to event, his temperament and willingness flows in his progeny.

Simba has been in an amateur home, where he has been too much horse for them, which is why he is now for sale on behalf of the owner.

On the flat Simba has flashy bold and forward paces, he is a real head turner for the judges, currently working at prelim/ novice level, with all the ability to go up the levels.

Jumping Simba has jumped around courses of 90cm + with ease he will jump off a miss stride and is not fazed by fillers. He has also done a little cross-country schooling where he is straight, brave and forward.

Simba is good to do on the ground, he is good to clip, shoe, catch, load etc. He is good to hack alone and in company and has seen farm traffic.

Simba is looking for a home with a competent rider who can have lots of fun, he is not for a novice as he is a forward ride.

Does have some small sarcoids, nowhere near tack, not angry or aggressive. Hence Price

For Sale – 16.3hh 7-Year-Old Gelding

Stan

Stan has been with me since a yearling and is now ready to find his new home. He is a straightforward, genuine horse who has turned his hoof to everything asked of him.

Hacks confidently both alone and in company

Reliable in all aspects – a real “diesel horse” who is careful and hardly touches a pole

Started eventing this year, always producing double clears and proving brave and careful – currently holds 5 BE Foundation Points

Showjumping up to 1.10m with ease, honest, and will jump off any stride or pace – currently on 129 BS points and still eligible for Discovery, with plenty of scope to go further

Hunted a handful of times – laid-back, not strong or silly, will go first or last and happily jump ditches, hedges, and whatever’s in front of him

Excellent to clip, box, shoe, and catch

Stan is a real dream to have around – I can happily lead my daughter on her pony from him out hacking, yet he is equally capable of taking me out competing. He really can do it all.
Stan has been in the same home since a yearling so all his history is know.
