Romeo is beautifully put together and truly is a horse who has been there, done that. Calm, considerate and always willing to please, he is the definition of safe and steady. He has far more “whoa” than “go” for less experienced riders, yet for a capable rider he has another gear when asked. His adaptability allows him to happily carry a complete novice one day and then enjoy a more forward ride with an experienced rider the next.

The Ultimate All-Rounder

Romeo has spent the last 12 months working in a professional riding school, where he has excelled with every type of rider, from complete beginners to advanced riders, both under saddle and during stable management sessions.

He has extensive experience in private and group flatwork lessons and regularly takes part in our in-house showjumping and cross-country competitions. Romeo absolutely loves to jump and is confident over coloured and rustic fences, showing a careful, honest and bold technique. Prior to joining us, he competed successfully at low level in showjumping, cross-country, working hunter, one-day events and has also enjoyed hunting.

Hacking is one of Romeo’s greatest strengths. He will happily hack alone or in company and has been exposed to some of the heaviest traffic imaginable, including double-decker buses, articulated lorries, tractors and all types of farm machinery. Nothing fazes him. He remains calm and relaxed in every environment and never becomes strong or silly. He can gallop across open fields with loose horses running alongside him before immediately coming back to walk on a long rein or standing quietly while other horses continue galloping around him. He is genuinely one of the most sensible horses you could wish to ride and is never sharp, spooky or silly.

During his time at the riding school, Romeo has been nothing short of outstanding. He is incredibly forgiving when riders lose their balance, lose a stirrup or make a mistake into a fence. He always looks after his rider and never takes advantage. His substantial build, combined with his calm temperament, sure-footedness and kind nature, gives nervous riders enormous confidence. He will stand patiently at the mounting block for as long as required without moving a foot.

I can honestly say Romeo has no quirks, vices or unpleasant traits.

Although perfectly happy to amble along at a quiet pace, Romeo is responsive to the leg and offers three lovely, balanced paces. For a more experienced rider he will happily work into a soft outline while remaining relaxed and obedient. He has never bucked, reared, bolted, kicked or bitten. He is ridden in a simple snaffle at all times with no gadgets whatsoever.

Outstanding Manners

Romeo has impeccable manners both in and out of the stable. He will happily stand for hours to be groomed and fussed over, with or without a headcollar. He is polite, affectionate and incredibly easy to handle.

He is equally happy living in or out and settles well whether stabled individually or turned out in a mixed herd, he is currently in a mixed herd and solo field in between lessons.

Romeo has an excellent health history and has never suffered from laminitis, sweet itch, sarcoids or any significant lumps, bumps or soundness issues.

He is currently barefoot with strong, healthy feet but is equally happy to be shod if preferred. He is excellent to catch, clip, bath, load, travel, shoe, and is a pleasure for the farrier, vet and dentist.

He is incredibly low maintenance and requires no daily work. He can enjoy weeks or even months off before returning to work exactly the same horse. He maintains his condition well on a simple diet and is exceptionally easy to manage in every respect.

Romeo has also recently passed our annual Riding School Licence Inspection, the equivalent of a Stage 2 veterinary inspection.

Boy Browning (BB) is now looking for his next home, where someone can continue his education and fulfil the huge potential he has shown.

BB is a lovely young horse with all the attributes to make an RoR grassroots event horse. He has an exceptional attitude to his work, genuinely enjoys having a job and is an honest, willing and straightforward ride.

One of BB's greatest strengths is his outstanding temperament under saddle. He is easy to mount, impeccably behaved on the roads and hacks confidently both alone and in company. He is happy to leave or be left by other horses without becoming anxious and even after several weeks - or sometimes months - out of work, he remains sensible enough to simply tack up and ride, with no need for lunging or special preparation.

He has competed successfully in dressage at Kelsall, Reaseheath and Tushingham, consistently producing pleasing tests and coming home in the ribbons. He has also been out show jumping, where he continues to gain confidence and experience. With regular schooling and a confident rider, there is no doubt he has plenty more to offer.

BB has made an excellent start to his eventing career, finishing 2nd in his first BE80, highlighting the exciting potential he has for the future. He has schooled cross-country at Somerford Park and Kelsall, confidently tackling a wide variety of fences and has attended both polework and show jumping clinics, always behaving well.

RoR registered, BB qualified for the 2026 RoR Championships at Osberton at BE90. Unfortunately, due to his owners' commitments, he was unable to attend. We genuinely believe he has the quality and versatility to excel across multiple disciplines. With his presence, movement and athleticism, he has all the ingredients to make a top-class RoR show horse, with the potential to be highly competitive in RIHS and HOYS qualifiers in the right hands. Equally, he has the talent to make an exceptional RoR Working Hunter or Show Horse, making him an exciting prospect for someone wanting a versatile competition horse.

He is good to shoe, good with the dentist and loads well. A 5-stage vetting from when his current owners purchased him is available to view, and he is open to any vetting or inspection.

Honesty is extremely important to us, so prospective buyers should be aware that BB can be grumpy around food and in the stable. He may pull faces and can threaten to bite, so he does require a confident and competent handler on the ground. This has never caused any issues while he has been with us, but we feel it is important to be completely transparent.

Importantly, this behaviour is never reflected under saddle. When ridden, BB is kind, genuine and uncomplicated and always trys his best.

Zeus

The ultimate allrounder who can truly turn his hoof to anything. Zeus is a classy, genuine horse with a wealth of experience and a lovely temperament to match. He offers three exceptionally comfortable paces, a beautifully balanced way of going, and the most wonderful rocking horse canter that makes him a pleasure to ride. Adores his flat work and rides like a show horse, he’s the type you could sit on for hours. The definition of an armchair ride. 

He has done it all, dressage, showjumping, Xc, hunting, forest rides, sponsored rides, fun rides, and plenty of hacking. He absolutely loves water and throughly enjoying a swim in the river.

To a fence, Zeus is a true point and steer type, incredibly genuine, committed, and happy to go from any stride. He gives his rider enormous confidence, always wanting to help rather than question.

In the hunting field, Zeus is an absolute machine. He adores working with the hounds, stands beautifully at the meet, and is the ultimate ditch jumper. He is equally happy to thrust into action on a big county day or to sit back and enjoy a quieter, smaller day. He’ll happily sit anywhere in the field and behaves impeccably throughout.

Although Zeus is straightforward, kind, and easy to ride, he would be wasted in a novice home simply because he has so much to offer. He is a responsive ride and therefore wouldn’t suit an unbalanced novice who kicks rather than squeezes. 

He hacks happily alone or in company and is a real gentleman in every way. Outside of the arena, he has always been ridden in a rubber pelham, which he enjoys and goes beautifully in, staying light and responsive in the hand across all disciplines. He will, of course, go in a snaffle, but is simply a nicer ride in his preferred setup.

On the ground, Zeus is every bit as kind as he is ridden, he loves people, children, and other animals, and is a true gentleman to handle. (We call him the cuddle monster!) A genuine, honest horse who takes care of his rider and will offer someone a lifetime of fun, confidence, and enjoyment.

Zeus has had sarcoids removed in the past. They have not affected his performance, comfort, or ability to enjoy a varied and active life. This is an honest disclosure for knowledgeable buyers, but certainly does not take away from what an exceptional all-round horse he is. A minor consideration in what is otherwise a golden opportunity to have a horse like Zeus in your life.

This BFG has been a delight to deal with and work with the last few weeks. To ride, he’s a big powerful lad, and you feel every bit of it, every stride and every jump! He’s still very polite in the hand. And very responsive to the rider. He’s balanced and very much in control of him self. 

He’s very straight and easy to a fence. Hes Likes to take his fences on and jumps from literally anywhere. I still think he’s weak and has a lot of maturing/toning up to do. He’s short of competition experience. But jumps a course Nicely and I’ll take him somewhere soon. 

He hasn’t hunted. But loves my dogs, and great around other horses, so I could see him being a very comfortable hunter who could jump the biggest of hedges one day. 

This lad is such a kind horse. Loves people and loves his job. No quirks/vices/issues. A real straight one

Thoroughbred Bay Gelding - 10 years 16.3hh

We bought Brian a year ago as a hack, but we’ve not had the time to use him as we had planned. He is currently exercised by a small female rider who will be very sad to see him go.

He raced until he was 7-8 years old and we bought him from someone who knew his last trainer. He deserves a home where he can continue progressing and enjoying an active life.

He is a dope on a rope in the yard and will stand quietly to be fussed over, doesn’t flinch with the hose, great with the farrier, good feet and generally very easy to have at home. He is currently turned out all day and is in overnight.

Brian schools nicely on the flat with a lovely walk and trot and very balanced canter - snaffle mouthed. His flatwork has come on tremendously since we’ve had him and he is definitely ready to start doing some local dressage competitions.

Brian hacks out both alone and in company, is good in traffic and loves getting out and about. He can have the odd spook at the invisible crisp packet, but is fine with tractors and buses coming past him on the road. In open spaces he is forward-going but enjoyable for a confident rider.

Brian’s jump schooling is developing - he has a habit of throwing his head up after fences when he gets flustered. We’ve brought him right back to trotting over fences and he is gaining confidence and becoming much more relaxed over fences. He could become a really nice allrounder for someone who is willing to put in a bit of effort but is not ready to go out and do a BE next week.
