Stunning safe sane sensible fun leisure/ pleasure alrounder with the most amazing temperament and worth his weight in gold

  • 15.1 hands
  • The ultimate safe confidence giver
  • Amazing to hack, pleasure rides and beach rides
  • Superb quality stamp over height reg Connie who is very handsome

Finn is the ultimate leisure/pleasure all-rounder with a golden temperament. He is as safe as they come and gives everyone confidence that gets the pleasure of riding him. He is offered for sale on behalf of his owner whos circumstances have suddenly changed unfortunately. He is a 15.1h 5 year old (going on 10!) dapple grey fully registered Connemara gelding.

Very well bred with 5 generations pedigree, Nn hoof wall. He is a real stunning quality stamp with such amazing dapples that really draw you to him, he catches the eye where ever he goes. He is gorgeous inside and outside to match and will make someone a horse of a life time for sure.

He has excellent conformation, clean limbs, is blemish free with straight movement. A real show quality stamp who is very correct. He is such a desirable type as he is a great size for everyone to ride from children to teenagers and adults; he would be perfect for a mother/daughter share or family horse for everyone to enjoy. He really excels as a pleasure horse to take on sponsored rides, happy hacks, horse holidays, beach rides, and to do all riding club on. And best of all he is super safe and very genuine and honest with a quiet gentle temperament.

Finn is super to hack both alone and in company. He is great with traffic and hacks straight out onto a busy through road where traffic goes flying past him. He is super with arctic Lorries passing him too. He is very confident in his own skin so doesn't need his rider to hold her hand. He is very calm and sensible in open spaces, he will canter in any order within a group without getting strong or competitive; he doesn't mind being over taken. You can drop you reins on him in canter and he wont run away, in fact quite the opposite. He is a lovely medium/steady speed out hacking.

He has been on lots of pleasure rides which he really does excel at, he gives other horses confidence as he is such a calm influence. He is so much fun on pleasure rides and always makes you smile and have a good ride. He has been on beach rides where he is always fantastically behaved, he went to Brancaster this summer and even swam in the sea and cantered up the beach no handed, this just about sums Finn up! He would be the ideal type to take on horse holidays and enjoy hours of exploring together as he is super comfy too and relaxed in new places.

He has also hunted in Ireland with a 13 year old boy where he proved safe and steady so would also suit a hunting home.

Finn has good basic schooling established with lovely natural paces. His paces are very smooth and flowing. He is a steady ride in the school and does need leg from his rider to keep him going. So he would suit a rider who prefers to kick on rather than pull back. This makes his rider feel very safe and also means that Finn is suitable for nervous/ novice riders as well as more competent riders. He is a real safe steady confidence giver to ride and not the spooky or sharp type. He is snaffle mouthed for everything with a lovely light mouth. He is very forgiving and doesn't mind if his rider loses balance or misses a beat, he will just slow down and let you catch your balance.

He is a basic walk, trot and canter in the school; he has never had any dressage schooling put into him as his previous owner wasn't interested in that. However he could easily school up into the contact with a little work and do some dressage as his paces are good and he is a well-balanced horse. He has also been ridden bare back and was foot perfect and very comfortable. He would suit a wide range of riders from competent novices through to more experienced riders that just want a straight forward easy going ride that they can pick up and put down as he doesn't require daily riding to keep sane.

Finn loves his jumping and makes a brilliant shape. He is very careful both in front and behind. He nicely takes you into a fence in a good rhythm without rushing. He doesn't get at all strong or fizzy, juts super easy and straight forward. He is a very much point and aim type who helps his rider out and juts loves to jump. He has attended training shows and unaffiliated comps at 80/90cm as well as riding club and arena hires.

He has also been xc schooling several times where he was simply amazing. Hes very confident and bold even over ditches and water. He is a real xc machine, point and aim type who is very genuine with lots of talent. He is a very straight forward ride and takes his rider into the fences nice and confidently but remains steady and very safe and sensible. He would excel at hunter trails and low level one day events. As well as being suitable for all pony club and riding club activities.

Finn has a superb quiet temperament; you really wouldn't find a quieter easier horse. He really is such a nice sweet person who wants to be everyone's friend. He is easy to handle and is very polite with manners to burn. He loves to be groomed and pampered. He is such a kind loving boy who is very gentle and calm. He is very good to catch, bath, shoe, load, catch ect. He will live alone or in company and in or out, he just goes with the flow. He is so much more than just a horse, he will be your best friend and part of the family.

He would make the perfect leisure/pleasure horse for hours of hacking and fun rides with some bits of riding club thrown in for fun. It is really important to his owner that Finn finds a 10* home where he will be loved and enjoyed.

Passed a 5 stage vetting in May that can come with him. Videos available on request.

Based in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. £15,000.

Ivan - 16.2HH (approx) 6 year old Irish Draught gelding by the Grade A SJ stallion Darragh Moylough Vision.

Ivan was a just backed 3 year old when I bought him, but he has grown far too big for me, hence this will be a very sad sale of a much loved boy and will only be sold to the right home.

I have brought him on slowly and carefully giving him time to mature. He is good to hack alone and in company. Is schooled regularly and is straight and correct. He has been out regularly attending UA SJ, dressage, arena eventing, combined training and cross country schooling. He has also been autumn trail hunting.

I am sure he will excel in the hunting field or show ring.

Ivan has been well handled on the ground, and is excellent to shoe, bath, clip and loads easily onto a lorry or trailer.

He is up to date with teeth, vaccinations, back and worming.

Ivan is in daily work, so is fit and ready to go.

He is unsuitable for novice/nervous riders as he can still be a little green at times. A competent rider will very easily put him in his box!

Open to vetting.

Uniquely marked, same home since a yearling

Won and placed BE 90 as a five year old, won and placed sj. Won and placed dressage and dressage to music, novice and elementary, riding club qualifiers and champs, shows plenty of potential to move up the grades.

Has hunted, fun rides, camp and pc. Carefully produced, had plenty of breaks so given time to mature.

Lovely to hack by himself or in company even if his hacking buddies are being silly! The horse you would want to take for a relaxing hack after a long day at work. A novice could school or hack him but can have power in his jump so wouldn’t be suitable for a novice in this respect.

A lovely friendly horse who is looking for Equally lovely Home, ready for someone else to enjoy.

Quinn is a kind horse who always wants to please. He hunted last season with a 16yr old girl and has previously hunted in Ireland so he knows his job.

He is very mannerly on the field and will jump anything you put infront of him from any stride.

He has previously jumped BS up to 1.05 and trained around 1.10/1.20m with ease.

He has enjoyed long hacks (where he is unfazed by farm machinery, traffic ect.) ,beach rides, gallops and xc schooling where he was a joy to ride.

He is never sharp and is snaffle mouthed.

He does however have a slight nap at home but this is very manageable and not sharp or silly and doesn’t affect him out hunting.

only selling due to rider concentrating on showjumping

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.
