Zelote Pagan is a striking 16hh, 9-year-old chestnut PRE gelding, imported from Spain and registered in the Spanish PRE Stud Book.

He is a talented, well-schooled dressage horse with three lovely paces. He works comfortably in walk, trot, canter and gallop and is trained in a range of dressage movements, including Spanish Walk and piaffe.

Zelote is responsive to light aids and will move forward and stop on command without needing force through the reins. He is comfortable, confidence-giving and genuinely enjoyable to ride.

His temperament is outstanding. He is calm, affectionate, sensible and extremely well behaved, with no known bad habits. He stands quietly for grooming, the vet and farrier and is loved by everyone who handles him.

He is excellent in traffic, good around other horses and animals, and thoroughly enjoys hacking. He could suit a capable novice, family, riding school or experienced rider wishing to develop his dressage ability further.

A very smart, eye-catching dapple grey gelding with a serious jumping pedigree and a lovely attitude to his work.

He is by Comfortuna VDL, a son of the legendary Berlin, and out of an Indoctro mare, giving him some exceptionally strong showjumping blood on both sides.

🏆 Pedigree

His sire Comfortuna VDL (Berlin x Nimmerdor) was a highly talented international showjumper. As a young stallion he scored 9.08 for jumping talent and 10 for free jumping, before going on to compete successfully internationally, including at 1.50m level and the World Young Horse Championships at Lanaken. His sire Berlin competed at the very highest level, including team gold at the 2006 World Equestrian Games.

Comfortuna's dam, Solavsca Fortuna, was Ster, Preferent and Prestatie, from a very successful jumping family. The dam line has produced numerous competition horses, including 1.35m and Grand Prix performers.

His dam is by Indoctro, another hugely influential jumping sire, with numerous offspring reaching international 1.60m level.

The dam's side is particularly exciting. His granddam U-Frieda O (Goodtimes x Carolus I) was an Elite, Preferent, Sport-(Spr), PROK mare who jumped to 1.30m herself. She has produced Interessant (1.50m international) and is the granddam of Kingston, who has jumped 1.60m Grand Prix.

Further back, the great-granddam May-Flower has produced an impressive family of international jumpers, including A-Frieda O at 1.55m Grand Prix, Rockella-S at Grand Prix level, Dancer at 1.45m, and Vrieda Imperio Egipcio at 1.60m.

So this is a pedigree that genuinely backs up his ability and potential over a fence, rather than simply looking good on paper.

Cole has worked extensively in a professional riding school environment for the past 18 months, and he has excelled with every level of rider, from total novices to advanced. He is also a firm favourite for RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) and special requirements sessions, both under saddle and during stable management and therapy activities.

He has experience in flatwork lessons, both private and group, as well as participating in our in-house showjumping and cross-country competitions. He is confident over coloured and rustic fences and has a big bold, careful jump, he will basically jump anything, he never refuses or stops. He is not scared of any kind of fence, from water jumps or scary fillers, he always takes care of his riders, trotting or cantering in steadily to each jump and helping the rider out If they come in on a bad stride.

He would easily compete in showjumping, cross-country, working hunter, one-day events and hunting. He came from a hunting family back in Ireland prior to me purchasing him.

Cole also absolutely loves to hack out and does so safely and calmly. He will happily hack alone or in company and has been exposed to the heaviest, fastest-moving traffic imaginable. He is completely unfazed by buses, lorries, farm machinery and all types of vehicles. He remains safe and steady in all environments and does not rush or pull, even in open spaces or on the way home. You can gallop him across open fields with loose horses running alongside him, then immediately pull him up and allow him to walk on a long rein or ask him to stand while horses run around him. He is most definitely not sharp, spooky or spinny.

He has been truly exceptional during his time at the riding school. He is unbelievably forgiving when riders lose their balance, lose their stirrups or have a bad stride into a fence. He always takes care of his riders. He will walk, trot, canter from voice commands without using the reins in both upward and downward transitions.

His substantial build, with a leg in each corner, combined with his calm disposition, sure-footedness and gentle nature, gives even the most nervous riders the confidence to progress and excel. He will stand patiently at the mounting block for as long as needed without moving an inch. I can honestly say he has absolutely no quirks or negative traits.

Although he is happy to go at a quiet, steady pace, he is also responsive to the leg and has three beautiful, balanced, steady paces. For more experienced riders, he will work into a nice outline with enthusiasm and energy while always staying calm and sensible. He has NEVER bolted, bucked, reared, kicked or bitten. He is the most loving, kind gelding you could ever wish to meet. Snaffle mouthed with absolutely no gadgets.

Manners, Temperament and Handling

Cole has outstanding ground manners. He stands for hours to be groomed and fussed over, with or without a head collar or lead rope. He is not clingy and is happy living in or out. In the field, he keeps himself to himself and never causes trouble, whether stabled alone or turned out in a mixed herd.

Cole has a history of excellent health and has never had laminitis, sweet itch, sarcoids, or any lumps, bumps or unsoundness. He has a full veterinary history from birth and has only had two owners.

He is currently barefoot with strong, healthy hooves and is equally happy to be shod. He is excellent to bath and catch, great to load and travel, and fantastic with the farrier, vet and dentist.

He is incredibly low maintenance, requiring no daily work. He can have weeks or even months off and return to ridden work without any fuss. He maintains his condition year-round on a simple diet and is easy to manage in every way.

He passes our riding school annual Licence Inspection, which is the equivalent of a Stage 2 vetting.

Goose is a lovely stamp of a competition horse, she is kind affectionate and really thrives on a one to one situation

Goose’s flatwork is coming along, with 3 nice paces, she can be a little unsettled in the bridle occasionally

When jumping Goose is rhythmical and gives her rider confidence, she enjoys jumping, but still ridden in a snaffle and never rushes

Sadly goose has a small blemish to her left fetlock, this doesn’t cause issue and I am confident she would pass a vetting

When goose meets new people or is in a new environment she takes a while to trust, never nasty or difficult, just holds a lot of tension

For this reason I tack up slowly and use a sheepskin girth and saddlepad

I would describe her as cold backed, however just hunches doesn’t buck

Once goose is happy and trusts you she is normal to tack up etc, for this reason she is not for a novice or loud abrupt handler

She really would suit a kind experienced horse person who understands she has ability but takes time to trust

For this reason I am selling goose without trial, she needs to find a home with ability themselves or as a broodmare
