Beautiful 5-Year-Old Purebred Connemara Gelding – Quinn – 15hh Grey

Reserve Champion – 2025 Sligo County Show

Quinn is a 5-year-old, 15hh purebred Connemara gelding who stands out immediately for his quality, presence, and exceptional temperament. He is a true model of the breed—a beautiful, well-made pony with good bone, excellent shoulder and hind end, and three balanced, rhythmical paces that make him eye-catching in any arena. His traditional Connemara head, with a bright, intelligent, kind eye, completes the picture.

Show Record & Potential

Quinn is already proving himself in the ring. He was Reserve Champion at this year’s Sligo County Show, showing his correctness, way of going, and natural quality against strong competition. He is the type judges notice—clean, elegant, and well-schooled for his age without being overproduced.

He is an excellent candidate for ridden Connemara classes, performance classes, dressage, working hunter, and eventing. With his paces and temperament, he has the scope to continue progressing quickly.

Temperament – Quiet, Honest, and Reliable

Quinn has a truly lovely nature. He is quiet and sensible but also forward, responsive, and enjoyable. He has been ridden here by novice teenagers and gives them confidence.

Soft mouth
Light and easy to ride
Never strong or silly
Always keen, ears forward, and ready to work
Very genuine and forgiving
He is the ideal mix of fun and safe—a pony you can trust but still enjoy.

Jumping & Cross Country

Quinn loves his jumping.

Loose jumps over 1.20m effortlessly
Brave, careful, and naturally athletic
Bold and honest across country
Takes everything in his stride—ditches, drops, water, banks and combinations
He has the qualities to excel in eventing, hunter trials, pony club, jumping leagues, and he would also make a superb hunter, as he’s straightforward, balanced, and not phased by new places or fences.

Hacking & Everyday Riding

Quinn is excellent to hack out:

Alone or in company
Good in traffic
Sensible in open fields and new environments
Happy to pop drains, logs, or simply stroll home on a loose rein
He is the same ride after a day off and does not need to be worked down—he has a naturally calm, willing attitude.

Who He Suits

Quinn would suit:

A confident teenager looking for a competitive, fun partner
A mother–daughter share
A rider wanting to produce a talented young horse with incredible potential
Someone wanting a safe but forward-thinking pony with a great work ethic
He is a genuine all-rounder with the quality and brain to excel in any direction.

Breeding

Quinn is beautifully bred, from some of Ireland’s best and most proven Connemara lines:

Sire: Lough Melvin Gorteen
Dam lines: Western Boy × Aran Flight
He carries the traditional Connemara traits—intelligence, courage, athleticism, and a kind, cooperative nature.

Manners & Handling

Quinn is a pleasure in every way:

No stable vices
Easy to shoe
Easy to box and load
Easy to clip
Good to catch

Lena – the safest horse you’ll ever meet (with resting mare face)

Meet Lena: proof that you can have talent, brains and a sense of humour… even if you do pull faces in the stable.

Lena has 2x second placings at Hickstead this summer, schools to 1.10m at home, has an exceptional jump, and is the sort of horse you could trust with your granny on the buckle.

On Christmas Day, we hacked her out while another horse had a full emotional breakdown throwing shapes left, right and centre. Lena? She poodled along at the back, completely unbothered, living her best life.

In the school she is safe, sensible and straightforward, at shows she is cool as a cucumber, and she is never phased by big atmospheres. She is proving very brave cross-country, is happy hacking alone or in company, and takes everything in her stride. Take her away from other horses? Fine. Leave her behind? Also fine. Turned out alone or with mares or geldings? No drama.

The catch?

She is… marish in the stable. By which we mean she pulls faces and puts her ears back. That’s it. Has not kicked or bitten us, no nonsense — just a lot of “how dare you come into my room” expressions. We simply tell her to get over herself and crack on.

Once she’s out of the stable? Absolute angel. In the wash bay she’s a sweetheart, at shows she’s impeccable, and tacking up in the lorry she’s good as gold. Honestly, we now find the faces quite amusing and consider it part of her personality.

Because of her resting mare face, her price has been reduced to 6500, which is frankly ridiculous for a horse with her ability, record and temperament under saddle. If you can laugh at an ear-back moment and see past it (as we have), you’ll get yourself a seriously lovely horse.

Would suit:

• Happy hacker

• Low-level allrounder

• Someone wanting a safe, talented horse to produce a bit more

Lena is kind, genuine and very, very easy — just don’t expect her to smile in her stable. She’s too busy saving that energy for looking after her rider.

Theo – 15.1hh Black Dales Gelding (2021)

Allrounder | Riding Club | Leisure | Showing Prospect

Theo is a striking black Dales gelding, rising 5, standing at approximately 15.1hh. A genuinely sad sale only due to outgrowing his owner.

He has been in the same knowledgeable home since 6 months old and has been thoughtfully produced from the very beginning. Theo started going out on walks as a yearling, learning the basics on the ground. He was backed late 2024, where he did plenty of hacking both alone and in company, taking everything in his stride and never fazed by traffic or new surroundings.

After being turned away to mature, Theo was brought back into work in July 2025 and has since resumed hacking and basic schooling. He is currently riding away nicely, hacking well, and working at a basic level in the school. He is now ready for someone to continue his education and produce him further.

Both dam and sire are Westwicks lines, for those interested in breeding.

Theo would suit a home looking for a smart allrounder, RC type, leisure horse or showing prospect. He is a lovely young horse with a solid foundation and a bright future ahead, looking for a kind home to love him and bring out his full potential.

Good As Gold (Rhea)
16.1hh | 14-year-old AES Schoolmistress Mare

Rhea is a truly exceptional, high-quality schoolmistress offering talent, temperament and versatility in equal measure. An ideal choice for a discerning amateur, a teenager stepping up the levels, or a mother–daughter share seeking a genuine, confidence-giving partner.

She is a beautifully bred mare by Alex H x Daggers Drawn xx Shalford and possesses the kindest, most genuine nature. Rhea is entirely uncomplicated and mannerly, with no mareish behaviour. She is impeccable to handle: easy to catch, clip, shoe and manage, and is equally happy stabled alone or in company. She loads and travels faultlessly, both alone and with others, and will stand quietly on the lorry or trailer — quite literally good as gold.

On the flat, Rhea offers three correct, balanced and uphill paces, giving a polished and comfortable feel. She has a proven and established dressage record, having competed successfully up to Medium level, achieving scores of up to 65%. She holds British Dressage points at Prelim, Novice and Medium, has competed at Elementary Area Festivals, and has represented at Summer Regionals at Novice level, demonstrating her consistency and trainability.

Rhea is an equally impressive and confidence-inspiring jumper. She has a rhythmic, adjustable canter and a careful, correct technique, always remaining balanced and rideable. She is brave and honest, never saying no, and recently took a nervous rider comfortably around a 1.05m course. She happily jumps fillers, water trays and unfamiliar fences with ease. She has competed in unaffiliated show jumping and has also jumped BS on a ticket. She currently has no BS points, making her an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a genuine, competitive no-points horse who is proven to deliver a reliable round.

She has competed consistently in previous homes around 1m unaffiliated show jumping, with scope to go higher, and comes with glowing references from all previous homes — a true testament to her quality, rideability and kind nature.

She has a fantastic all-round record, having competed in unaffiliated eventing, hunter trials and arena eventing. Rhea has been out hunting and was super bold, happily jumping hedges and ditches, proving what a genuine and brave ride she is. She recently competed in Arena Eventing again with us, finishing with only time penalties after the rider unfortunately got lost on course.

Rhea hacks happily both alone and in company and is a pleasure to have in the yard. She is a versatile, talented and enjoyable mare with an exceptional amount to offer the right rider.

13-year-old gelding for sale. A proper all-rounder who has hunted and is equally happy hacking — sensible, straightforward and enjoyable to ride.

He has only recently come back into work due to personal circumstances, which can be discussed. There was a minor injury only (nothing serious), and he is now back in light work. Because of this, he is currently very weak and is being brought back slowly, but he’s building up nicely, feeling better every day and genuinely enjoying his work.

On the ground he is lovely to handle — kind, easy, and well-mannered. He really thrives on one-to-one attention and would suit someone wanting their own horse to build a partnership with. He just needs that personal time and consistency.

With the right person, he will make a brilliant partner — whether for hacking, hunting, or general all-round activities.

Happy to discuss his history and current workload with genuine enquiries.

Roly is the kindest, most generous soul looking for a non competitive home.
17.1hh chestnut 2016 gelding by Carrera VDL out of a Diamond Lad (RID) mare.

I have owned Roly for the past 5 years and have done a mixture of everything with him, most recently eventing up to BE90 last year. He now needs a home where he isn't expected to do dressage due this being difficult for him- circles to keep fit are fine but I don't want him to go somewhere where lateral work and "sitting" are required. He may require some maintenance but is absolutely capable of going and doing a job for somebody- full veterinary history and details can be discussed with potential buyers.

Hacks alone and in company, will go first or last, 100% in traffic, hacks on the buckle end, stands patiently, leave him for a week and take him out- though he is not a kick along, no nagging required and he is happiest walking at warp speed. He would hack in snaffle but does require a stronger bit for fast work and jumping, with this in mind he needs to go to an experienced home.

He is an absolute machine across country and he adores jumping. I have taken him hunting, he stood like a rock and was good as gold with the hounds and other horses, as expected he was strong and I would say he would be a man's hunter.

I have ridden him bareback, side saddle, been all over on my own with him and he has never once been any bother to deal with.

A gentleman to do in all ways, no vices, no separation issues, doesn't kick/buck/rear/bite and travels on a lorry or trailer, will stand quietly on the box all day.

Romeo is a lovely, kind-hearted boy looking for his genuine 5* forever home. He is affectionate, easy-going and thrives on a one-to-one partnership. A real people horse who loves fuss, cuddles and attention.

Retired from racing sound 3 years ago and has been with me ever since. Sadly for sale due to work commitments changing.

Riding and Hacking: he is a straightforward, relaxed, non spooky and safe ride. Loves hacking alone or in company. Excellent in traffic, open spaces and around large farm machinery. Occasionally plants if he is suspicious, but takes confidence from his rider's encouragement and then forgets it. Snaffle-mouthed; enjoys a canter or gallop but always comes back politely. Sensible in groups and not fizzy when overtaken (fun rides). Happy to lead another horse.

Schooling Activities: have completely retrained him, works nicely on the flat, forms a nice shape and soft in the mouth, enjoys long-reining. Jumps up to 70cm in the school and would go bigger with more training (his full brother is owned by a top UK SJ). Has done XC and hunter trials, shows and competitions which he loves; done beach rides (very chilled), happy with water and braves 'scary' XC fences. Will suit a capable rider who can build his confidence and enjoy his honest enthusiasm - Romeo will give his heart to you!

Manners and management: good doer for a TB and economical to keep. Lives in or out but prefers some turnout year round, good with other horses. Easy to catch, perfect to load, travels well, stands calmly by the box. No vices; good to shoe, clip, dentist and vet. Front pads every 4 to 5 shoeings due to shallow hooves; can get mud-scabs if unprotected in winter. Teeth, vaccinations and worming up to date.

Romeo is a much-loved horse and it's taken me a long time to come to this decision as he is such a good person; I don't want him passed around. Knowledgeable, long-term home only. No dealers or canvassers.

Approx 15.2hh 4 year old (5 this year) sports horse. She has been the easiest horse to back and has done absolutely everything we have asked of her.

May is very easy and calm to ride, we can put anyone on her and she doesn’t put a foot wrong! She’s safe and steady.

She has done lots of hacking, seen heavy traffic, cantered across open fields. We’ve boxed her out to an arena hire and she’s jumped a few small fillers with no issue at all, she’s very brave

She’s very good to hack and will often lead other horses past all the scary stuff, she’s not spooky in the slightest.

May is good to shoe, load, box, catch etc. Up to date with all vaccinations, dentist, farrier.
