She is excellent to catch (comes to call), good to load and travel, good for the farrier, vet and dentist, and is equally happy living in or out. She can be stabled or turned out on her own without becoming stressed and is straightforward to manage in every way.

Her education has been taken slowly and correctly, with plenty of groundwork before progressing under saddle. She has completed lunging, in-hand work, pole work and a variety of foundation exercises to build strength, balance and confidence.

Under saddle she has mainly hacked, covering many miles through Longleat Forest both alone and in company. She is confident in traffic, enjoys exploring and has a genuine, willing attitude. Flora has also attended busy fun rides, where she behaved impeccably amongst large groups of horses and busy surroundings. She has happily swum through water and thoroughly enjoys it, taking everything in her stride with a calm and sensible outlook. New places and busy environments don’t faze her, and she continues to prove herself to be level-headed and easy to take out.

Her schooling is coming along nicely and is being produced correctly rather than rushed. She is learning to work into a consistent outline, use herself properly and become stronger through her body. She is still green in the school, making her an exciting prospect for someone wanting to continue producing a quality Thoroughbred.

Belle is a lovely, sweet-natured mare who we have found to be easy to have around and in all aspects of her daily care.

Having recently come over from Ireland, where she did a small amount of hunting and riding club activities, she is ready to find her new home where she can give her new owner lots of enjoyment.

Due to her age, she is obviously still a little green; however, she has a great attitude to her work and only wants to please. She is a quick learner and really enjoys her work. A fun forward ride who is easy off the leg yet still remains sensible.

Romeo is an exceptional 15hh, 10-year-old Cob gelding who offers the rare combination of safety, strength, experience and a heart of gold. He is kind, bold, dependable and a genuine weight carrier, making him suitable for a wide range of riders—from complete beginners, nervous adults and children, RDA riders, those with additional learning needs, right through to more experienced riders looking for a calm, reliable partner.

Romeo is beautifully put together and truly is a horse who has been there, done that. Calm, considerate and always willing to please, he is the definition of safe and steady. He has far more “whoa” than “go” for less experienced riders, yet for a capable rider he has another gear when asked. His adaptability allows him to happily carry a complete novice one day and then enjoy a more forward ride with an experienced rider the next.

The Ultimate All-Rounder

Romeo has spent the last 12 months working in a professional riding school, where he has excelled with every type of rider, from complete beginners to advanced riders, both under saddle and during stable management sessions.

He has extensive experience in private and group flatwork lessons and regularly takes part in our in-house showjumping and cross-country competitions. Romeo absolutely loves to jump and is confident over coloured and rustic fences, showing a careful, honest and bold technique. Prior to joining us, he competed successfully at low level in showjumping, cross-country, working hunter, one-day events and has also enjoyed hunting.

Hacking is one of Romeo’s greatest strengths. He will happily hack alone or in company and has been exposed to some of the heaviest traffic imaginable, including double-decker buses, articulated lorries, tractors and all types of farm machinery. Nothing fazes him. He remains calm and relaxed in every environment and never becomes strong or silly. He can gallop across open fields with loose horses running alongside him before immediately coming back to walk on a long rein or standing quietly while other horses continue galloping around him. He is genuinely one of the most sensible horses you could wish to ride and is never sharp, spooky or silly.

During his time at the riding school, Romeo has been nothing short of outstanding. He is incredibly forgiving when riders lose their balance, lose a stirrup or make a mistake into a fence. He always looks after his rider and never takes advantage. His substantial build, combined with his calm temperament, sure-footedness and kind nature, gives nervous riders enormous confidence. He will stand patiently at the mounting block for as long as required without moving a foot.

I can honestly say Romeo has no quirks, vices or unpleasant traits.

Although perfectly happy to amble along at a quiet pace, Romeo is responsive to the leg and offers three lovely, balanced paces. For a more experienced rider he will happily work into a soft outline while remaining relaxed and obedient. He has never bucked, reared, bolted, kicked or bitten. He is ridden in a simple snaffle at all times with no gadgets whatsoever.

Outstanding Manners

Romeo has impeccable manners both in and out of the stable. He will happily stand for hours to be groomed and fussed over, with or without a headcollar. He is polite, affectionate and incredibly easy to handle.

He is equally happy living in or out and settles well whether stabled individually or turned out in a mixed herd, he is currently in a mixed herd and solo field in between lessons.

Romeo has an excellent health history and has never suffered from laminitis, sweet itch, sarcoids or any significant lumps, bumps or soundness issues.

He is currently barefoot with strong, healthy feet but is equally happy to be shod if preferred. He is excellent to catch, clip, bath, load, travel, shoe, and is a pleasure for the farrier, vet and dentist.

He is incredibly low maintenance and requires no daily work. He can enjoy weeks or even months off before returning to work exactly the same horse. He maintains his condition well on a simple diet and is exceptionally easy to manage in every respect.

Romeo has also recently passed our annual Riding School Licence Inspection, the equivalent of a Stage 2 veterinary inspection.

‘Ammanvalley Aranck’ (Ava)

16hh 7yo stunning Appaloosa mare very sadly for sale due to owners circumstances. She has been in the same home since a foal so this is a heartbreaking decision, please no time wasters or joy riders.

Ava is a beautiful American bred Appaloosa, out of Rowberton Solitaire (Appy x TB) and by the beautiful stallion Ammanvalley Dark Star.

She was backed at 5 to let her mature properly and in the last 2 years she has been showing, showjumping, cross country schooling, hacking and did a days hunting at the end of last season, stood at the meet and jumped ditches and rails despite never seeing hounds beforehand.

Currently kept in a same sex herd and very easy to do and keep, such a people person. Lives out in the summer, in at night in the winter, she really hates being out in the rain and stands at the gate waiting to be rescued!

She is not a novice ride, she is sensitive and wants a quiet rider but once you get the hang of her she goes beautifully and really tries for you. Always snaffle mouthed.

Her jump is phenomenal, we have competed her up 80cm but there is so much more jump in there. She would be extremely exciting and unique to see on the showjumping circuit.

She would be very successful to show as she is so well marked and so eye catching across a ring. She has been to 2 showing shows so far and the judges loved her.

She is registered with the APHC UK.

This BFG has been a delight to deal with and work with the last few weeks. To ride, he’s a big powerful lad, and you feel every bit of it, every stride and every jump! He’s still very polite in the hand. And very responsive to the rider. He’s balanced and very much in control of him self. 

He’s very straight and easy to a fence. Hes Likes to take his fences on and jumps from literally anywhere. I still think he’s weak and has a lot of maturing/toning up to do. He’s short of competition experience. But jumps a course Nicely and I’ll take him somewhere soon. 

He hasn’t hunted. But loves my dogs, and great around other horses, so I could see him being a very comfortable hunter who could jump the biggest of hedges one day. 

This lad is such a kind horse. Loves people and loves his job. No quirks/vices/issues. A real straight one
