Lance – a true original with more personality than most yards put together.
If you’re after a horse who’s never dull and always brings a bit of spark to your day, Lance might be the one. He’s bright, quirky, and full of life—think of him as the equine version of that fast-talking, quick-thinking friend who keeps you on your toes (in the best way).
He thrives on routine, fun, and attention—and once you click, he’ll give you everything. If you’re looking for a perfect, push-button pony, he’s not your guy. But if you want clever, characterful, and full of potential—read on.
Lance is a forward, fun-loving jumper who lights up in the ring.
Fillers? Not a second glance. Dirty stops? Not in his vocabulary. He’s smart, honest, and gives it his all when he knows you’re with him. Whether you're showjumping or simply love that feeling of a switched-on competition pony, Lance will have you grinning from ear to ear.
He also scrubs up surprisingly well for dressage. He works in a soft, consistent outline across all three paces, with buttons for lateral work like leg yield. He’s not aiming for Grand Prix, but he puts together a very pleasing test and gives a polished, connected ride.
Out hacking, Lance is confident and bold.
Happy solo or in company, he’s unfazed by traffic, tractorss, and open spaces. He might spook now and again if surprised (squirrels in hi-vis are clearly dangerous), but he’s sane, sensible, and safe in a group canter. Just keep your hands on the reins—he’ll try for a cheeky snack if you’re not paying attention!
He’s up for anything.
Agility obstacles? Loves them. Hosepipe drinking? Party trick. He’s grown up around all sorts—dogs, cats, chickens, pigs—and probably tried to befriend them. (Alpacas behind hedges, however, remain a mystery.)
Lance loves getting out and about.
He’s done shows, clinics, camps, Pony Club rallies, beach rides—you name it. He loads perfectly into a trailer or lorry and ties up quietly with a haynet.
He lives out 24/7 but is happy stabled overnight, and he’s settled with both mares and geldings.
Important bit:
Lance has seasonal equine asthma and his price reflects this. It’s well managed and doesn’t stop him doing anything he loves. He uses a nebuliser during warmer months (included in sale) and responds well to a £30/month online prescription. In cooler months, he doesn’t need it. He’s remained happy, healthy, and in consistent work.
Comes with some tack and rugs. Non-breed specific passport. Imported from Hungary at 4yo, full history since then known.
Lance is not a novice ride or a schoolmaster.
He’s clever, quirky, and full of ideas. He needs a confident, experienced rider who enjoys that spark rather than tries to squash it. Ideal home would be an older teen or small adult looking for a brilliant, slightly bonkers best mate.
He’s truly special, and it matters to us that he goes to the right home—we’d love to stay in touch.
Indoor and outdoor schools available for viewings (when free), plus lovely off-road hacking to try him out.
