Retired competition horse looking for a new job - LOAN

Barleyman Butterbur (Mivi)

Ref #: 233220
  • Mivi has had many jobs - hunting, hacking, cross-country, pony club and BS
  • Excellent to ride and lead from - bombproof in all sorts of traffic
  • Excellent to travel - loves to go out - but happy to be ridden occasionally from the field too

Welsh section D cross (probably)

Full history known since a four year old.

Absolutely bombproof in all sorts of traffic. Safe and fun to hack - alone and in company.

Excellent to ride and lead from – he taught my four year old to be relaxed in the heaviest of traffic.

Well- mannered on the ground and easy to load, shoe, clip, etc, but needs to be turned out in his own space as he has been a field bully in the past.

He has hunted with me and in his previous home, but he gets very strong and throws some big bucks - definitely not a novice ride! Walks and trots on the buckle, stops on voice command but still gets excited in canter so experienced riders only.

Doesn’t need to be ridden every day – can be pulled out of the field and never makes a fuss about being tacked up and taken out on the road, in the school etc – not cold backed, spooky etc.

He did Senior pony club camp last year with my daughter however at his age and stage I’m not offering him as jumping horse.

I’m looking for a lightweight, experienced adult rider who wants a handsome, small (but wide) horse to hack and maybe pop a few fences at a clinic etc.

He can come home to me when his riding days are over, but I am looking for a long-term loan – not just for the summer please.

Luna is a stunning 15’1hh bay mare. She is 17 years old but is incredibly sound. Sadly, Luna’s current jockey has outgrown her.

Luna has done a bit of everything but is especially lovely on the flat. She has been ridden by a now 15 year old girl for a year and she totally adored her. Luna loves her jumping. She is incredibly straight and honest. She has jumped 80cm/90cm in competition but has scope to go a little higher.

When it comes to flatwork, she really is a school master. She moves beautifully and is very obedient. She’s successfully done riding club, pony club, showjumping, eventing and dressage. She’s been apart of the Cotswold Vale Farmers Pony Club with her current jockey who has done camp and rallies on her. Her current rider was desperate to event her before Covid-19 stopped everything.

Luna is very well behaved on the ground. She is good to shoe, clip and load. She is snaffle mouthed for everything. She will hack alone or in company however as a competition horse she is better in company as it’s what she’s used to. She’d make a great grass roots event horse or a competitive riding club/pony club horse. This mare is looking for a 5* home.

Oliver is a sensible ride and looks after his jockey. He is the most perfect 1st horse moving off from ponies or for someone looking for a genuine horse to enjoy.

He is a total school master and knows his job inside out but he is not a novice ride and does require a competent rider as he is a forward going, responsive ride. However he is completely safe and sane.

He is good to do in all ways - catch, groom, tack up, load, plait up and does tolerate a bath! Good temperament and he is a very gentle, kind boy- has been ideal to home produce.

Oliver has had an extremely successful showing career - qualifying on numerous occasions for HOYS and RI.

He would happily continue to go out showing regularly or would be a fabulous dressage horse. A lot of untapped potential in this sphere.

This precious horse is only available to a 10* knowledgeable home. We would happily keep him forever but he loves his job and has so much more to give.

Based near Aspatria, Cumbria.
