  • Best friend
Drastically REDUCED if we can find his new home before 1st December! As Charlie is currently on full livery due to having had our daughters next pony already and we don’t have time for both! 13.2 (136cm) 17 yo (foaled 2006) gelding competition / PC schoolmaster. Uncomplicated and good to do in all ways with a quiet and loving temperament.

He has been there and done everything - competed and hunted in Ireland and then came over here and done all PC and unaffiliated competitions. Last year alone he has taken part in PC camp, team SJ, XC and dressage.

Loves to jump doesn’t refuse a thing will hack alone and in company, good in all traffic. Kind and quiet to handle in all ways good to do everything inc catch, farrier and clip. Travels and stands at shows with ease. Can be turned out with mares and geldings.

He’s the first to say hello on entering the yard comes cantering over when called in the field and just loves human attention! He’s such an affectionate pony will lick you all day long given the chance.

He is medicated for cushing’s and is now at his best on 1 tablet a day (and this is reflected in his price) the cost of the prascend medication is around £35 a month. Just had the vet out for his annual check and they can’t believe how healthy he is and certainly doesn’t look like a cushing’s pony! He has never had any problems with laminitis, is clean limbed and no lumps or bumps! His only sign of cushing’s is a long coat in the winter and excessive sweating which is why we had him tested in January.

We keep him clipped and rugged appropriately year round (he is an absolute dream to clip even on face and ears). He loves a bath and just being pampered in general, he is a best friend and we will be devastated to see him go.

He has given our then 7 year old daughter the confidence to canter no stirrups and letting go of the reins. He will literally lead rein one day with a complete novice and jump a meter the next with any rider.

We have had our daughters next pony 14hh for 6 months now so it’s time to see Charlie in a new home.

Only the best homes need apply he is used to 5 star treatment and gives 10 star treatment back!

He will come with his bridle and rugs or full wardrobe including fitted saddle (bought new last year) by separate negotiation. He is upto date with his feet, teeth, worming and just been clipped etc. county Durham North East of England.

We want to see our precious boy in the best of homes so will accommodate any viewings, riding etc

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

Super family pony

£4,000 ONO
  • Irish Sports Pony
  • Piebald
  • Mare
  • 17 years
  • 14.2 hands
  • CHAPS registered
  • Hunted with the Beaufort

May was bred on a show yard, she's CHAPS registered and she has produced a foal as about a 4yo.

She was professionally broken by a point to point jockey and then used for kids to ride. She then went to a happy hacking home in Wales for 12 years and was mostly ridden round the hills and did some fun rides.

Current owner bought her in June 2022.She did some intro dressage last year and placed.

Has hunted her with the Beaufort on Saturdays last season up until about December time. She was good cubbing and is good with hounds but when it started to get busier she will get a bit more excited and bouncy. T

This summer she's done dressage at prelim, usually places and is consistent in the 60s%.

I took her to the Beaufort show this summer and she was very good and did a little clear round.

She's done a mix of schooling and hacking with me including on main roads, villages and open country and jumps in open fields.

She's up to date with everything jabs, teeth, chiro, etc.

Comes with full wardrobe

Very sad sale of quite possibly the best pony ever!! (Rider has now moved onto horses)

We have had Deano for 3 years now and he was with a friends daughter for 2 years before us.

He is a mothers dream in every way, absolutely bomb proof and brilliant on the roads & with farm traffic.

He always looks after his rider and doesn't have a bad bone in his body, he loves attention and makes the perfect best friend.

Since we have had him he has done 2 pony club camps, cross country, jumped up to 90cm PC rallies, hunt rides, beach rides, galloping on the downs, arena eventing, jumped on the PC SJ Team. Fantastic to ride on the flat & can do a lovely dressage test. He is always in the rosettes but ideally now looking to jump up to 60/70cm.

Enjoys hacking alone or in company, front or back, he never gets strong or silly, is used to being ridden in open fields or the school, he lives in or out with mares or geldings and is easy to catch.

Great to clip, with Farrier, dentist and loading onto trailer/horse box.

Due to his age and being such a special pony to us his next home is very important and would ideally have experience with veteran ponies where his wisdom & skills are appreciated. He still has a huge amount to give, is fit and ready for fun and nowhere near ready to retire. He would ideally suit a beginner or nervous child or small adult looking for the safest, kindest pony. Would make a perfect mother / child share.

Queensdown Safari, aka Leo. Welsh X New Forest 2010 Gelding.

If unicorns existed Leo is the closest you would get, he is genuinely a legend. He loads and travels as quiet as a mouse in anything. Perfect for the farrier, dentist, vet, physio & to clip ( you don't even need a head collar on). Lives either in or out with mares and geldings. No stables vices at all and he has never reared, bolted, bitten or kicked. Leo hacks alone or in company. He has won numerous local shows and dressage competitions, he could do a family pony on the Saturday & get a decent % in Elementary on the Sunday. He is over stamped with CHAPS & TGCA and a life height certificate.

The dressage points he has accrued has been achieved in just under two years - 96 Prelim, 88 Novice & 8 Elementary - 192 points. Here are just a few of the competitions he has been selected for:

- Prelim Bronze Area Festival Finals
- Area Festival Finals at Hartpury
- Senior Inter Regional Teams X 4
- Area Festivals at Novice
- Area Regionals at Prelim Silver
- Kent Teams
- Associated Championship Prelim Silver
- Senior Home International Team

Also he has been very successful in Ridden Showing at County Level Winning Part Bred Traditional & Coloured Classes and too many local wins to list!

Leo is very clever, loves to learn, loves to show off and loves to please. The best home only as little horses like him don't come around very often. His next home will need to be one that will keep his brain active and continue with his potential. He will not just go to a happy hacking home and he is NOT for novices. He will be an awesome candidate for veterans in a couple of years and possible HOYS potential. No loans, no LWVTB and no payment plans so please do not ask. He will come with his fully fitted dressage saddle & bridle.

Please call on 07850 416178 any reasonable time.

  • One in a million, truly special pony

14.2 18yo class 1 Connemara mare by the famous Connemara stallion: I love you melody, sire of multiple grade A show jumpers and supreme champion show ponies.

Sparkle is an incredibly special pony, so kind and gentle, beautiful on the inside and outside, she truly is one in a million. Sparkle has been a first lead rein pony for my daughter from 9 months old, once my daughter could walk and wanted to lead her pony herself, Sparkle would lower her head and shuffle along slowly and carefully not to tread on her excited toddler handler.

Sparkle has been going on fun outings this year with a 10 yo jockey (her first loan pony) they have done dressage, jumping, cross country and hunting. Sparkle has also been enjoying hacking, forest rides and hunting with adult riders. She is safe and sensible on the open forest, happy to canter in a group, first or last, never fizzes up or gets silly. Sparkle is excellent in traffic, she is used to dogs, tractors, cows and other farm animals.

On the ground Sparkle has impeccable manners, she will stand for hours to be groomed, bathed, pulled, clipped or even covered in fancy dress!

Sparkle will live in or out, with mares or geldings or on her own. In the stable she is incredibly clean, she will even wee in a bucket when she comes in. Sparkle has no sensitivities and isn’t fussy, she never bangs the door or has any bad habits, absolutely no vices. She has never been lame with me, she is fit, healthy and full of vitality. Sparkle does have a small melanoma under her tail, this hasn’t increased in size over past couple of years and doesn’t cause her any bother. Sparkle spent several years as a broodmare and was broken in later in life, this has contributed to her excellent health as she most definitely hasn’t been ‘hammered’.

Sparkle is the same to ride at a show as she is at home, she goes into sleep mode when standing still, even on the hunting field she will have a little snooze when stood still. Sparkle is an Excellent traveller, after loading herself she will stand perfectly on the lorry all day, ideal for the big county shows when the rest of us want to get some shopping in. She is perfect to babysit young horses too. Sparkle has an exceptional showing record, almost unbeaten this year. At the New Forest show she was 1st in the adult Connemara class, champion Connemara and res res supreme m&m.

Sparkle is well suited to a mother daughter share, she would be happy doing pony club, happy hacking and hunting.

Tentatively offered, only to the best of private homes. Sales yards and riding schools need not apply.

Sparkle is a truly special pony, she really is one in a million.

Clippy has been with us for 6 years. She was ridden by both my daughters and has had a busy life as a key member of our local pony club.

In her day she was an awesome cross country pony but now is not ridden as she let us know that she had had enough and we have kept her here, enjoying the life she deserves in this loving home.

Due to circumstances changing for us we now need to find Clippy a new job and new home to go to. We know her really well having looked after her for 6 years. As a non riding mum I have been able to manage Clippy with ease and am very familiar with her traits. She has a good nature, is sweet and willing. We have often left her in her stable when taking our mare out to event and she is fine.

No vetenary issues, easy with the farrier and vet.

She is a special little mare and we will only see her go to another loving home.
