The most perfect ex riding school full up 14.2hh Black chunky mare.

She has been well used in a riding school for a few years before closure and then has been a great first pony for young girl -

She is 110% to hack, in traffic , alone or in company.

She's also lovely to school and to jump small fences.

She is more kick and go than pull and woah which suits someone with low confidence or a novice. Would suit a mother daughter share.

Would do all local shows/ fun rides/ lessons / low level PC or rc.

Yealand Mamzelle

Exceptionally talented pony - moves like a warmblood and judges love her.

Beautifully schooled, competing BD intro and Prelim, training elementary at home. She has a natural medium trot and some lateral work, established changes when jumping.

Bred in the purple by the legendary Botingelle Swan Song so would also be a credit to any stud.

Heartbreaking sale of a much loved but sadly outgrown pony. We are now looking for a new forever home for Maisie, ideally where there are younger children who can take over the reins and an experienced parent overseeing her management.

Home is of paramount importance and we would like to keep in touch.

She is a super allround pony, forward going and responsive - 2nd pony suitable for a child that can already ride and wants to win or small adult as she takes up the leg nicely.
She is really kind with a wonderful temperament and will take care of a little rider on the lead rein or lunge, so could also teach a younger child the basics with help of experienced parent or trainer.
She has been handled solely by my son from the age of 9.

Competitively, we have mainly done Dressage with her as this is my sons preferred discipline, with scores as high as 78%.

Always in the ribbons, here are a few of her achievements with us.

Port Royal summer dressage championships Junior champion 2022
Port Royal winter dressage championships 2023 overall Champion
Port Royal summer dressage championships 2023 Junior champion
Pony Club grassroots dressage Championships team member 2023
British Dressage My Quest U21 regional Champion.
Trailblazers National Championships 4th and 8th
Northcote Stud Dressage championships Reserve Champion
British Dressage Associated national championships 3rd
British Dressage North & East region U21 championship 2nd 2024

Lightly competed this year due to riders other commitments but has qualified for Trailblazers National Championships Intro and Prelim and BD Associated Championships in only a few outings.

We have done Pony club and BD camps, she settles well away from home and is not phased by the big show atmosphere.

Showjumping - we have had many wins unaffiliated and she is BS grade JC, with a proven record. She has had a medal representing scotland at the Home pony International. When jumping as she is fast to a fence. Always a contender in a jump off.
She is brave and forward XC.

In previous homes she has successfully competed showing, SHP and workers - eligible for 133cms. Clean limbed, fabulous SSADL prospect for Native part bred. She has even done pony racing.

Maisie is good to do in all ways, shoe, catch, load, clip, hack etc and will stand on the box all day at shows. She has impeccable manners. No vices.

We are stabled on a busy working farm so she is used to farm machinery, cows and dogs.
Search her name on Google or Facebook and lots of videos and pictures will come up.

Serious enquiries only by phone or text / whatsapp 07860 950273 or HQ contact . Price negotiable to secure her the very best forever home.
May consider lease or loan with view to buy to right home , so it's worth a conversation.

  • New Forest

  • Gelding
  • 18 years
  • 14.2 hands

14.2hh 18yrs bay registered New Forest gelding. Registered name Brockenhurst Hawkwing

Safe, fun all rounder who is no way near ready to hang up his shoes yet and loves his hacking and low level jumping!

Sparrow has been with his current owner for 8 years and has had a lot of fun doing all riding club activities and teams up to 80cm. He has done countless sponsored rides, hacked extensively both alone and in company and been a lot of fun.

Sadly his current yard is closing and owner due to personal circumstances can not relocate so the difficult decision has been taken to find him a new home as he’s no way near ready to retire yet and loves his work.

Sparrow will go in the school and work on the flat nicely and has been very well schooled but ideally we are looking for a more fun home featuring a lot of hacking and some low level jumping (ideally 60-70cm with possibly the odd bigger fence at home)  as this is what he loves!

He’s best described as a steady ride but goes up a gear when jumping, nothing scary but nicely forward in to a fence and takes his rider.

To hack he is super, hacks alone or in company and is good in traffic. He’s been ridden here by a variety of teenagers ( from novice) and been good with all.

He’s a fun pony who gives a lot of confidence. He’s perfect to do everything with and nice on the ground with, but dislikes clippers which requires sedation. He’s easy to look after but a bit of a playful thug in the field so has been kept on individual turnout.

Owner is happy to disclose last 8 years of vet history and would love to stay in occasional contact.

Price includes quality tack.

Seen at livery.

DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • Would make a lovely dressage pony

Welsh Section B, Grey, Gelding, 12.2hh, 16 years.

Danny is a much loved pony who has taken his jockey to many shows with great success in first ridden classes. He has beautiful forward uphill paces and a rocking horse canter.

Danny has been with his current family for 3 years. During that time he has been showing, pony club rallies and camps and farm rides. He loves hacking and is bombproof in traffic and safe in open spaces. His most recent showing success was NPS mini champion at Derbyshire Festival 2024.

Danny has not done much jumping and is very green in that area but could have potential with a confident experienced rider. Being Welsh he can be a bit cheeky and like to check that his jockey is paying attention! He needs a confident yet sensitive rider and would be best suited as a child's second pony.

Danny has been professionally produced and well schooled. He is never sick or sorry, up to date with vet, dentist and physio and loves to be in work. Sadly his jockey is out of first ridden classes this year and this is his forte. He needs a new jockey to take over the reins and enjoy him. He is now also eligible for veteran classes.
He also has the potential for a second career as a dressage pony with a small adult.

Only the very best 5* experienced home will be considered for this special pony. His tack and wardrobe including a Black Country Poppy saddle is available by separate negotiation.

STAR FIRST-RIDDEN FOR PONY CLUB & LOCAL SHOWS

Tia Maria is an un-registered New Forest. Dun in passport but so dark she usually looks brown.

Wonderful for the transition from lead-rein to off-lead and a bit further.

In the 2 years we've had her she has brought our son from nervous near-beginner to riding really well and confidently. They won the PC branch's Best Pony & Rider Combination trophy last year.

She absolutely knows her job with wobbly little people, she's balanced and comfortable with lovely paces. Not fazed by learner riders and responds well to a parent's voice from the ground giving transition commands. Very steady by nature, very slightly more forward on grass, when following another pony etc. She adjusts immediately to younger riders, having given weekly lessons to a small girl while our son has grown and been doing more. She's the same whether ridden recently, or not for a fortnight. She also lunges well.

She is an absolute star at pony club and local shows etc. happily grazing where tied, then falls asleep, or stands with haynet on the trailer. Then trundles around with no bother at all, looking pretty and winning rosettes. She's won local working hunters with us and previous home. Tiny SJ-ing often in the money too. X-C schooling she's always totally great...has gone clear in competition too, but has also done slow, grind-to-halt type refusal away from friends.

She's got a lovely economical jump, happily trotting over x-poles and 30/40cm, or with stronger riding 50cm. But being more senior we absolutely think she's now best kept to the lower levels which is right up her slightly idle street. She had slight stiffness in her hocks when we had her vetted 2 years ago but it hasn't stopped her happily and soundly doing loads of low level things with us. And there's every reason to think she should have several more young children to teach.

We don't hack much as don't currently have other horses, but when we do we accompany on foot and she's very good. She hasn't batted an eyelid at traffic on our local roads.

We are looking for an experienced, sensible home because as most ponies can, she very occasionally gets excited and has faster moments. These moments are short lived, predictable and excusable, like galloping besides another pony at a racing rally, or doing fast, competitive pc games. Keeping her out of such situations she doesn't get excited. We did low key lead-rein/assisted games for more than a year and that was perfect.

Perfect to catch, groom, farrier (great feet, currently shod in front but been barefoot), clipping, vet etc. Has sometimes been sticky to load - food in front and lunge line behind seems to be the key. No history of laminitis, cushings, sweet itch etc. Up to date vaccinations, worming, teeth, back check etc.

We've kept her in a DIY livery yard where she has company in neighbouring paddocks and stables. We restrict her grass because she's a really good do-er and in spring it can make her a little fresh. She's given our son hours of fun in the arena, pretending to be a jockey/soldier, jumping and practicing games. She has been an absolute star at pony club rallies, camp, little competitions, local agricultural shows. We've been so lucky to have her.

Tack and rugs included with her. Adjustable Kent and Masters saddle has recently been re-sized by an approved fitter (we managed to get some weight off over the winter).

Price reflects her age, not her amazing ability at her job. More photos and videos available on request by WhatsApp.

Our lovely Nutmeg is sadly for sale as outgrown. She is safe and loves her work. Nutmeg has taught our daughter everything from flat work to jumping show jumps or to go out to do a little xc course.

She is not a kick-along pony and would suit a child who has already ridden off lead reins.

Nutmeg is an experienced Pony Club pony; she has taken many children through their first pony club paces moving them on to their next pony and into horse-loving life.

Nutmeg is a cuddly, sweet natured pony that is good to handle, and loves being ridden. She has quickly developed a wonderful bond with my daughter, and it will be a wrench to see her go. Nutmeg has always put a smile on my daughter’s face and has won many rosettes with her.

Nutmeg is up to date with vaccines, teeth, worming (last count 0)

For Sale only; no trials or loan possible. Tack available by negotiation. Homes will be vetted for suitability for this much-loved pony.

Early viewing advised. This one is‚ ‘hot to trot‘. Suffolk based.

Hoorah Henry

We have owned Henry for nearly 3 years and in that time he has taken my son from a nervous rider on the lead rein to confidently jumping 60cm courses.

Henry has done a little of everything with us, fun rides, hacking, SJ, XC and games.

Always in the ribbons, he has qualified for Trailblazers 2024 in the 60cm SJ.

He is currently top of our local competition centres league board in the 50cm and 60cm SJ having won the 40cm winter league this year and coming second in the 50cm winter league.

Henry is more woah than go, he is a really smart pony who knows his job. As he did for us, he is capable of stepping down for a nervous rider while building their confidence but equally capable of stepping up a gear for a more confident rider.

Henry will stand quietly on the yard to be groomed and is easy for a child to look after. He hacks alone or in company. 100% to catch, box, shoe (currently shod in front on) and clip. Never sick or sorry, we have never had to have the vet to him!

Henry is a happy chappie who always says hello when you walk on the yard and you go to catch him! Happy to be turned out as part of a herd or alone.

Absolutely heartbreaking sale as Henry is every parent’s dream pony. We are in absolutely no rush to sell him and the right home is our top priority for Henry!

Primrose is a 12.2hh, British Riding Pony. She has become a much loved member of her family.

In her time with her current owners she has done it all with their 7 year old daughter. They have attended PC rallies and camp, dressage, showjumping, cross country, Tetrathlon, mini mounted games, fancy dress and hacked. Primrose has proved herself capable across the disciplines and thoroughly enjoys her work.

She has beautiful paces and a nice jump. Prior to coming to her current owner, she had mainly competed SJ, but has proved she can turn her hoof to anything.

She has done well at local unaffiliated SJ competitions where she has been jumping 40-50cm with us. In her previous home, she was regularly jumping 60-70cm.

We have found that she also really enjoys her schooling and has done well in the low-level dressage tests. Primrose likes to lead the ride during rallies.

She is snaffle mouthed and goes off the leg nicely and has excellent brakes.

Primrose is barefoot. She has both lived out 24/7 and been in during the day/night. She is happy with both but we feel she prefers being out 24/7.

She isn’t a pony who has needs extra - careful watching with her grass intake and as far as we are aware, has never had laminitis.

She is good for the farrier and dentist. She needs sedating to be clipped. Excellent to load. Up to date with Vaccinations and teeth.

Primrose is nice to other ponies and doesn’t kick or rear. She is happy to stand on the box all day and doesn’t make a fuss. She is very well behaved at shows and events once she has had a chance to absorb the atmosphere - often falls asleep ringside waiting her turn! This summer she competed at Hickstead for team school jumping and she behaved perfectly.

Primrose is not a complete novice/tiny tots ride and we feel she would be best suited for an older child or a more confident younger child. She requires a rider rather than a passenger to get the best out of her. That said, she has happily done lead rein rallies with a 4 year old but this isn’t what she should be doing as her full-time job as she is capable.

She is fairly alert (not spooky and doesn’t actually do anything) and this doesn’t work well with a nervous child.

She has very occasionally thrown in a small excited buck but this has only been when she hasn’t been in regular work and has been, for example, about to canter in a big open space.

She is a lovely pony who deserves a home where she will live a busy and varied life.

  • Doesn't spook in heaviest of traffic, easy to lead from another horse
Heartbreaking sale of our Lead rein - 12hh Reg Welsh Sec A, just turned 17.

A pony that’s been there and done it all, from PC rallies, games and camp, to beach rides, common ridings etc. In his previous home of 7 years, he was LR/FR but I am selling him as a Lead Rein. Bry is a lovable wee dude who loves to be cuddled and pampered. He hacks out on the lead rein, off the lead rein or being led from a horse no problem- will walk past 40 ton timber trucks without batting an eye. I trust my 4 year old and 2 year old around him- never kicks or bites etc. Great doer, lives on fresh air. Barefoot with hardy soles, fab with farrier, clipping and dentist. Travels in trailer or box no problem and can stand happily at shows, rallies.

Bry is your typical cheeky Welsh and has a lot of go- my daughter is a lightweight 4-year-old and we just feel she needs more of a plod for the stage she is currently at with her riding. Bry has beautiful paces, pops a jump, and can be ridden independently- although he’s not a first ridden pony- a confident good small rider would have so much fun with him. He is more suited to LR. His tack including a new bridle could also be sold with him. Up to date with vaccinations, teeth and worming. No lumps, bumps and never sick or sorry. He must to go to a 5* home only as he deserves a loving family. Absolutely no time wasters.

Based just outside of Lockerbie (25 mins from Carlisle and 5 mins off the M74). Grass arena and hacking available for trials. Low 4s.

Laddie (Cathedines Likely Lad) is now totally outgrown and looking for his next rider.

A proper stamp of a Welsh section A on a full green passport - 12.2 and 18 years old. He’s been with us 3 years and taken my nervous daughter from cross poles to jumping 50/60 confidently. He is a pony club allrounder - been there - seen it - got the T-Shirt. He loves his rallies and thrives on turning his hoof to anything asked of him.

I would say a 1.5 pony as he is forward going and has a cheeky side but nothing that my daughter who had lost all her confidence couldn’t manage easily.

He has been to camp and was brilliant - taking part in everything, trail hunts and stands like a rock while you eat your sausage rolls, loves his showjumping and rallies, and has turned into quite the games pony last year.

He qualified for Bicton Pony Club Mini championships both summers - coming 11th out of 45 riders last year - double clear only beaten by really whizzy ponies. Has represented our pony club on teams many times.

Has become a good steady first games pony and has been on demo teams for Okehampton, Launceston and recently Royal Cornwall Agricultural show - never phased with a big atmosphere.

Hacks out like a dream on or off the lead rein. Stands on the trailer all day. You can clip him while he eats a haynet, loads himself in the trailer, lives in or out, never sick or sorry - currently in a mixed herd.

We will be super sad to see him go - we owe him everything.

He will come with a full wardrobe - including saddle and new bridle.

Message me for more info - Devon based. Lots of videos and photos available.

Buddy is the friendliest and most adorable little chap, who loves his human interaction.

He was purchased by a riding school along with others a few years ago, but due to no fault of his own, was deemed too forward for his height for their clientele, and more suited therefore to a private home.

Over recent weeks, Buddy has been enjoying a full schedule , from hacking solo, to also riding along in company, longlining, lunging with small rider on board, and has even traveled to a horse show , attending lead rein classes with an 8 year old girl, and behaved impeccably.

He loves to jump, but currently has no jockey for this, but clearly enjoyed on the lunge, showing a good balance.

Buddy is currently in an isolated set up, and will, happily come in and be groomed and tacked up, and taken on a solo ride, but does sadly stress if alone too long in yard, though realistically most yards have horses and ponies about, so this should not be an issue, but best said, so he is understood, as he is so worth it.

Buddy is ready to enjoy now, and be loved by a family and his little face with definitely be missed.

"Murthwaite Boy Blue" 14.2 Grey Gelding 17 years old

Ultimate fun jumping pony. Been there and done it all, seriously flashy technique and a real show stopper.

BS Winnings of £1,462
BS Points 548

Jumped to 1.10 and done absolutely everything. Been to POYS, Hickstead, done NSEA, PC Championships

If you have a young jockey that can ride, here is your boy. He is fun, forward and jumps extremely well. Likes to buck, so if your child can't sit a buck he's not for you. A true character, always gets noticed when out and about with his expressive technique.

He is 17 years young with loads to offer his next rider. Been in a family home, done his job for this lovely family.

Really is a competitive type. Not sharp, you can put your leg on and he does have breaks, but I reiterate, he bucks when he's excited.

He is good to do, happy to be stabled or out. A true asset to a competitive family with a good young rider.

Hundreds of videos, pictures etc available. Ponies like him done come around often !

Low mileage, low maintenance Reg. Exmoor. Drum has previously taken part in all lead rein/FR PC activities, camp, games, and hunted with his previous home.

To be sold for a small adult as he needs to get fitter and requires bigger than little legs.

Good in all ways. Ideal for a small adult that enjoys hacking.

Great stable manners. Great to catch, load, travel etc. Good with vet, farrier. Up to date vaccs.

Genuine reason for sale. He is not fit and only ridden lightly at weekends, which is not fair on the pony.

Too steady for my daughter and for her to take to Pony Club.

Selling for a small adult as a lot of leg required. Trial may be available to the right home. With previous home for 6 years. Not shod.

An absolute heartbreaking decision but she has been outgrown and needs to be loved & have fun with another child.

Registered 13hh Section B, 19 years old but don’t let this put you off.

Margo is a gentle, genuine mare who has a big heart and wants to please.

She is a second pony, she needs an established rider to enjoy her as she is forward going.

Margo has competed in lots of pony club & riding club activities such as mounted games, SJ, dressage, ODE, XC, Pony Racing, Beach Rides, Fun Rides & summer camps.

Margo is a seasoned trail hunter, she has done 3 full seasons with us.

She has been shown under saddle and in hand and is always in the ribbons, and has a number of championships under her belt.

Margo is excellent to load, she often walks on by herself, she can be left on the box safely with no fuss.

She is excellent to clip, brilliant with the farrier & dentist. She is up to date with these.

Margo is an eager jumper, she has jumped to 95 & XC 80.
She has competed in Inter hunt clearing the bullfinch at 95/1m.

She will stand all day to be groomed & pampered.

She has good ground manners. She is an absolute genuine pony who we trust 110%. She is used to being ridden in traffic and is 100% with cars, tractors and any other farm machinery.

She has never bolted. She can very occasionally put in an excited buck, but it is not malicious its always pure excitement to get on with things. She has been the very best pony.

She is open to vetting

She will only go to a 10 star home.
