  • Happiest living out 24/7
  • Sweet nature

Based at Rolleston Centre

Meet Sophie, a sweet-natured mare looking for her forever home as a non-ridden companion. Sophie is well-established in her basic handling and is good to catch, groom, pick out feet, and for both the vet and farrier.

Sophie is happiest living out 24/7 in a mixed herd and can stay alone for short periods once settled. She’s a good doer, so will need restricted or sparse grazing to maintain a healthy weight. She would suit a home with similar grazing management and plenty of hay piles to avoid food-related tension with other horses.

Although Sophie isn’t a ridden horse she will still make a lovely companion for another horse or pony.

Dartmoor 12hh Gelding

Ref #: 402003
  • Has the potential to be a ridden, or driven pony in the right hands, but equally would make an excellent nanny pony for youngsters or companion.

  • Gelding
  • 6 years
  • 12 hands
  • Has the potential to be a ridden, or driven pony in the right hands, but equally would make an excellent nanny pony for youngsters or companion.

Extremely handsome 12hh approx grey Dartmoor gelding.

Previous to coming here, he has been allowed to slowly grow and mature on Dartmoor, on a conservation grazing site, in a large mixed herd.

He is rising 7 this year, and since coming here in Dec '24 has been regularly walked out in hand on the lanes and bridle paths and has been long reined also. He wears a snaffle bridle, has had a driving harness on, an old fashioned 'klibber' pack saddle, without issue.

He has been great in all kinds of traffic here, including farm machinery, the school bus, even a mobility scooter! He has also been well behaved when we have met other horses out hacking, whilst on our walks out. He loves getting out and about.

He is not a stand and be pampered sort of chap, not a fan of being groomed, but has been bathed without trouble.

He has had the winter off, but has been stabled at night and out during the day, where has been turned out with a mare, and is also happy with individual turnout too. He is also happy to live out.

Has previously been both turned out and loose penned with mares, geldings and colts without issue.

Can be left in the stable on his own for short periods.

Has the potential to be a ridden, or driven pony in the right hands, but equally would make an excellent nanny pony for youngsters or companion.

Up to date with farrier, worming and teeth.

Can be a little grumpy sometimes, particularly first thing in the morning, but by this I merely mean he can pull faces, he doesn't do anything.

He can be a little stubborn, but is a characterful, wonderful little chap.

He is supplementary registered with the DPS. Lots of videos and photos

  • Lizzie is a 11.1 hand pony, four years old in May 26, who is looking for a new home
She has been with us since February 25 when I went to purchase a companion pony and came back with two! My plan was to back her when ready if I had time but I realise this isn't going to happen as I work full time and have three other horses at home. She is a nice horse, inquisitive, likes a cuddle.

She lives out all year round, currently unclipped (and quite muddy) has been out for walks on a lead rein, unphased by traffic, loads fine, likes being groomed, stands for the farrier, ok with the dentist.

She has been a perfectly good field companion but in reality I really only need one of these, and I think she would enjoy doing more if someone could offer this. No medical problems, wormed.

I am seeking a loving, knowledgeable home for my attractive and sweet natured boy. Little Raz was bought as a 3 year old and backed and ridden on but developed bony changes in his thoracic spine (not kissing spine). He has been used as a companion since he was a 4 year old. I am happy to discuss his history and treatment.

Little Raz has been out with mares and geldings but only geldings in recent years. He is sociable but easy going. He is calm when left on his own in the stable and turns out happily by himself if needed. He is super to handle on the ground. He long reins, lunges and has been led - ride & lead. He enjoys basic natural horsemanship exercises.

Excellent with the farrier, vet and dentist. He loads readily. Good with dogs and children.

HWSD: N/N

I have had to give up riding due to health issues and Little Raz is now companion without a friend. Whilst he is coping well on his own it doesn't feel right.

He desrves a richer life with a new family and equine buddies.
