Monty - 14.2hh 5yo dappled blue and white cob gelding

Ref #: 404270

£5,500
  • Cob

  • Good to hack
  • Sweet to do
I purchased Monty from a driving home 6 months ago to fill the gap as my young horse had a holiday. He was unbroken to ride but proved to be very easy to break and took to everything quickly.

In this time Monty has done a variety of all-rounder activities including beach rides, arena XC and some jumping at home. He is established on the flat in walk and trot with a consistent contact and is responsive to canter but needs more time and strength to develop in this area. He would do a very sweet intro test already.

Monty has done a small amount of jumping, mainly working on basics so not to rush him. He has done gridwork, small courses of 70cm (including fillers) and arena XC. So far he has proved very brave with steps, water, ditches and solid fences. He’s not phased about other horses jumping/splashing through the water around him.

Hacking is probably Monty’s favourite ridden activity. He has done plenty of beach rides - enjoying a plod through the sea or a canter with friends. He has also been good to hack in open fields and on the road, having the occasional spook at something silly but generally a relaxed character. Hacks alone and in company. Goes first or last - doesn’t panic he’s being left behind etc.

Monty is easy on the ground, good to catch, lead, load, clip, shoe and with the vet. He is up to date with teeth, physio, vaccinations and can come with his professionally fitted GFS saddle. He is currently on individual turnout but has previously been turned out with others. Lives in or out and is generally an easy going chap.

His perfect home would be with someone who loves hacking or wants to do a bit more producing to get him to PC/RC standard. He will tolerate people pressing the wrong buttons but ideally needs someone competent and confident to keep his education on the right track. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to run two horses so Monty needs to find his next person. Open to viewings and vettings. Based in West Sussex, West Wittering.

£5500ovno to include fitted saddle.

Mimi is a very loving 14.2hh Welsh D mare who we bought last summer to back and produce. She has been an absolute pleasure from the start and has been a real yard favourite. Mimi is very easy to have around and to handle, she would happily stand around like a statue all day long to be groomed and fussed over. Mimi is very forwards and wizzy and therefore wouldn’t suit a novice however she has never bucked, bronced or bolted etc. just a speedy girly who loves her job! Mimi takes confidence from her rider but has happily jumped fillers, water trays and been XC schooling. She will be a very good little competition pony with more experience and I’m sure she’ll go on to do big things!

  • Backed and riding away sensibly, loving hacking out, ready to produce. Up to date with everything.

A very sweet young mare with a nice start and the breeding and temperament to develop into a fab small allrounder, Oti is confident and kind. A compact type with a willing attitude, backed and straightforward to do, she’s not been rushed and has not been jumped, a genuine blank canvas ready for someone to produce and put their own stamp on her.

Owned since she was 1 (direct from her breeder at Tremayne Irish Draughts in Cornwall), she’s a fabulous and much-loved little mare and she wouldn’t be going anywhere if she’d grown a hand bigger – sadly she’s just not grown big enough for me.

She has recently been professionally backed proving very straightforward to do, and is currently riding away sensibly at her backing yard in Cornwall.

Oti is already a pleasure to have out and about:
- She’s done plenty of groundwork including lots of long lining. Easy on the ground, on the yard, in the stable.
- Professionally backed and riding away very sensibly for her age – she’s brave, willing, unspooky and not phased by things, should make a proper ‘have a go at anything’ sort.
- Hacking out and genuinely enjoys it – is the same whether she goes first or last and has been out alone around the farm with no problems.
- Confident being in the indoor school but still extremely green.
- Good in all traffic seen so far, including tractors.

She is:
- Level-headed, biddable, and should prove easy to produce.
- A friendly people person, generally wants to be with you and involved in whatever you’re doing.
- Good with other horses, easy with any routine or management.
- Great with the farrier, has always been barefoot and regularly trimmed, up to date with this.
- Great with the vet, up to date with vaccinations, teeth, worming. Wolf teeth removed a couple of years ago.
- Fine in her stable and with being left whilst others go out.
- Easy to catch: has always come to call, follows you around the field.
- Confident with new experiences & takes things in her stride.
- Kind with children, good with dogs (has been used to lots of dogs since I’ve had her).
- Not phased by machinery and tractors (we had lots of work done on the yard whilst she was a baby and she was super interested in watching it all).

She’s realistically priced due to her relative lack of experience to date:
- She’s backed & riding away very sensibly but hasn’t been out to shows / seen much of the world yet.
- I’ve never clipped her or bathed her, I don’t think she’d have a problem with either (she’s had the back of clippers all over her whilst on with no issues) but she’s never done it.
- She’s an inexperienced traveller because I’ve never had transport.
- She’s got a very tiny cold splint that has never caused any issues, from hooning around being a youngster on lots of land in the spring last year.

Location:
Located in Cornwall between Falmouth & Helston at her backing yard, she's now in regular ridden work and her price will increase the more she does.

Who she’d suit:
Oti would suit someone kind and experienced who’s looking for an easy little mare to produce this summer. No novices purely due to her age – she deserves a balanced rider capable of furthering her education. She’d turn her hoof to lots of things, should be a lovely all rounder for all ages.

No loans, no LWVTB, no payment plans. Genuine enquiries only please.

Sadly quickly outgrown

Lola is about 11.2, registered 11 year old, although we’ve only owner her since last August, she was in her previous home about 6 years.

Lola has been a much loved lead rein / first ridden / second ridden pony. She will hack out unfazed by anything, she will walk / trot and canter in the school however she’s not super well schooled so her transitions from trot to canter can be messy as she will run in to the canter, however she’s not dead to the leg but she’s also not going to run off with your child and seems to know when she has an unbalanced tiny tot on board or a child that she can be a bit more forward with.

Good to catch, will stand to be pampered, good for the farrier, good to bath / load And travel.

Lolas previous owners had done local level shows and she is well behaved in a show environment.

We have had absolutely no issues at all with Lola over the last 9 months and she is currently living out so is hairy and roughed off at the minute, however I will start getting her in and back in work for viewings.

Lots of photos and videos available, good home is important for this little girl.

  • Genuine safe school mistress who turns her hoof to anything and everything.
  • Loves her job, brilliant to hack, safe in all traffic.
  • Full up 13.2hh 10 year old mare.
If you’re looking for a safe, sensible family pony who can turn her hooves to anything, you may have found her.

This gorgeous 10 year old mare is a full up 13.2 and has been an absolute ‘heart pony’ and wonderful confidence giver, as well as the best teacher a child can have, she has taken her riders from lead rein through mini teams to confidently jumping 70!

She has done pony club and everything from rallies, camps and beach rides to Area Competitions. She shows promise to do more in her dressage and is very balanced and polite and educated for a cobby type, and she loves cross country, adding many rosettes to the wall! She is also steady and reliable SJ, but isn’t the fastest!!

She is easy to handle, clip, shoe and load. She has lovely feathers, we usually clip them off and keep her more streamlined. She has had her teeth routinely done, with no issues. Easy with other ponies and can hack out on her own and in company. She is good in all traffic, happily hacks alone or with others through cattle and a busy farm.

Prior to us she was in the same home for four years, doing her job before she was genuinely outgrown and her riders moved on to a sportier model.

She loves fuss and attention, and we are hoping to find her a home with a child who can already trot and canter but maybe has lost their confidence and is looking for a very special friend to hold their hand and help them enjoy riding again. Maybe with a small parent who can hack occasionally in the week although she doesn’t mind and is no different if ridden less.

This is a very difficult decision. She is wasted with our son, she is just too nice a pony and loves the attention too much to be stood in the field, and our daughter just can’t manage the time for two ponies with ever increasing school and social commitments.

She can be seen with a friend who has better facilities, so she can be tried in an arena and hacking etc.

Please no time wasters. We are looking to find her a loving and caring new home hopefully over the school holiday.

14hh Welsh D (very sporty type) Mare | 7yrs | “Candy Crabbick”
Sold on behalf of a client

A real head-turning palomino mare with presence, ability and plenty of character — Candy is a fun, versatile pony ready to excel in the right home.

Candy has a fantastic all-round CV; she has shown, jumped, hunted, attended Pony Club rallies and camps, and been cross country. She is a genuine contender for the working hunter ring, with three fantastic, expressive paces to match.

She works sweetly on the flat in a nice outline and is naturally quick, balanced and agile, making her a great contender for riding club, showing, NSEA, working hunter or a fun competitive home. She enjoys her work and thrives when kept busy.

She is a brilliant, genuine jumper — happily popping ditches, logs and natural obstacles, and has been hunting, proving herself bold and willing. She would make a fantastic hunt pony or all-rounder for someone wanting to get out and have fun.

Hacking is a real highlight; she is excellent in traffic, confident in open spaces and happy to go alone or in company, either first or last. Snaffle-mouthed and sensible.

Candy is not dangerous in any way, but she is a forward-going pony who loves her work, so would suit a confident, competent rider who will give her clear, consistent handling. She is not a novice ride or a push-button pony, but in the right home she will be a hugely rewarding and fun partner.

Up to date with farrier, vaccinations and dentist. Good to handle day-to-day, lives in or out and is good with mares and geldings.

Candy has been in the same home for the past year, with full history known since breaking and previous owner still in contact.

Very sad, genuine sale as she has proven a little too much pony for a 10-year-old. A lovely, knowledgeable home is sought, with both current and previous owners keen to stay in contact.

If I wasn’t 5ft10, she would have been snapped up — a seriously fun, capable pony with so much to offer.

A much-loved and genuine all-rounder looking for his next home after 5 wonderful years with us. He has given both of our girls endless fun and confidence and is now ready to do the same for another family.

Although he holds a life height certificate at 14.2, he measures closer to 15.1, making him a perfect step-up between pony and horse.

18 years young and certainly doesn't act his age - he knows his job and looks after his rider.

Handled regularly by children & kind and easy to manage. Can ride and lead.

Hacks confidently alone or in company. Great with traffic / farm machinery / loud noises.

Our girls have competed regularly at pony club and NSEA comps. Lots of rosettes and qualifications.

Jumps comfortably up to 90cm and enjoys his jumping. My daughter jumps higher at home and at rallies but would say he is most comfortable competing up to 90cm.

Lovely dressage test & has scored 70% at Novice level

XC with pony club and various rallies

Good to lunge and on the Pessoa

Easy to catch and handle

Lives happily with both mares and geldings

Full history known, with contact with previous owner

He is a genuine, fun horse who has been a huge part of our family and is ready to give someone else just as much enjoyment.

A Few Minor Points (as no horse is perfect!):

Prefers travelling in a lorry or herringbone trailer. Can be reluctant to load in a forward facing trailer, but manageable with encouragement (previous owner had a trailer)

Doesn't like being left alone in the stable when others are turned out

Had hocks injected last year & may need doing again in future, though our vet is very happy with him

Previously had a melanoma removed (common in grey horses). No issues but was near the girth so didn't want it to rub.

For clipping, we give a mild sedation mainly for around the head & not always essential, but makes the process quicker and stress-free. I have videos of clipping with and without sedation.

Located in West Sussex

Sold with bridle, girth, rugs, etc.

Saddle (purchased for just under £2,000 last year) available by separate negotiation

A truly special horse who has been a pleasure to own. Finding the right home is our absolute priority.

Reluctant sale of a much-loved mare.
If circumstances were different, this pony would never be leaving us. She was bought for my daughter, but I unintentionally over-horsed her. After three years, it’s clear she needs a more suitable rider who can give her the consistency, confidence and direction she thrives on. She is currently being wasted in the field and deserves a home that can bring out her best.
There is a lot to like about her. She travels well, hacks sensibly, and has always been reliable in traffic. She stands politely for the farrier and vet. She enjoys hacking in open fields, lanes and the forest, and she has previously jumped  videos available.
This advert aims to give a fair and transparent overview. She is best suited to a competent teenager or small adult who rides confidently and sympathetically. She can be seasonally “hot” and will test a rider she doesn’t respect. She is not a schoolmistress. She can also, on occasion, unseat a rider if she feels she can take advantage  this is not malicious, but it is part of why she needs a capable, balanced rider who can ride her forward and through her moments. In the right hands she offers a powerful, forward, rewarding ride.
She originally came from a showing home. During her time with us she has had some veterinary issues which have been fully investigated and treated; full history is available from Hirds. Some maintenance may be required. She has been out of consistent work over winter due to my daughter’s injury, so she is currently hacking and in light work only. She is therefore a project for someone confident, kind and firm who can re-establish boundaries and schooling. Her quirks are reflected in her price.
Price includes tack and rugs. A suitable home is essential.
She thrives in a quieter yard or smallholding, winters out well, and prefers living out year-round. She holds weight easily, so her diet needs managing.
Happy to answer any questions and will only let her go to the right home.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am offering my beautiful 5-year-old traditional Gypsy Cob for sale. Standing at a chunky 13.1hh, she simply hasn’t made the height I need, making this an incredibly difficult decision.

She is a truly well-rounded pony because she has been given the best start in life—brought on slowly, carefully, and professionally broken. She is a kind, clever and affectionate soul. Unphased by farm machinery, heavy traffic, dogs, sheep, chickens etc. Easy to load, travel, and stands well for our farrier. She’s a good doer, barefoot, and happy living in or out.

She’s now looking for a partner in crime to continue her education and take her on the adventures she deserves.

She is loved beyond measure here, and finding a 5-star home where she will be cherished is my top priority. Price negotiable for the perfect home.

A perfect opportunity for someone looking to put their own stamp on a lovely pony who has been professionally started.

Due to her age and experience she would not be suitable for a novice.

Full wardrobe available if required.

Brilliant 13.1hh mare

Bess can be trusted with the smallest of children .

Bess turning 15 this year.

Brilliant in Traffic we are next to an industrial estate and often has to give leads
She hack alone or in company
Great in open fields .
Use to all farm traffic

Turns out with mares or geldings.

Super lead rein pony . She works well in the school and moves very well - she rides bigger than what she is with a great stride so if off the lead would need a capable child not that she's naughty but she can cover the ground .
Out hacking this is where this pony comes into her own and she loves it !! you can trust her to the end of the earth she will go on her own and she will just pootle behind the bigger horses or ride and lead . She has seen all traffic and animals .

She will happily pop around but she has not done a huge amount of jumping but with work has the ability there.

My parents brought Bess last year for my sisters children but unfortunately the interest is not there and she can go weeks without been ridden . She is currently being ridden by my daughter but she has two horses and we do not have any smaller jockey's for her

We have taken Bess to pony club rallies in the Rain and snow she loads in the dark travels well on her own or in company. She has done the pony club hunt children meet on the lead rein .

Great for the children to do the sort you can tie up and leave them to do . Fantastic to clip !!

She is bare foot - fab for the farrier with great feet . She is up-to date with her vaccinations.

This pony needs a new best friend as she deserves it .

Please get in touch if you think she may be for you . She will come with her tack.

Compact 14hh, 9 yo, Connemara Mare.

Maisie has been with us for the last 4 years, she has been ridden and brought on by my daughter who is now 15 and has sadly outgrown her.

Maisie is a fantastic, hardy trail hunting pony who is forward going but she can also stay at the back. She has taught my daughter to be a great cross country rider.

Maisie is very sure footed, jumping hedges, ditches, rails and walls, crossing all types of country. Trail hunting is Maisie's number one love and we would prefer her to go to a hunting home.

She has been to Pony Club Camp for the last 4 summers which she really enjoys, jumping up to 90cm in both SJ and XC Training and managing a nice dressage test.

Over the past 4 years she has won hunter trials, WHP & SJ classes at 70 and 80cm and has also competed at 90cm. She also qualified for PC Regional Grassroots 80cm Eventing Championships in 2024 and has won & qualified at both Showjumping & Arena Eventing NSEA competitions HOWEVER she has fallen out of love with competing & is very reluctant to take part so she is NOT being sold as a competition pony although she trains beautifully in every discipline. Maisie has also Pony Raced coming 2nd twice and 4th twice. She loves to team chase and she has been part of a hunt relay team and competed in mounted games - she was fun and competitive in all of those.

Maisie hacks alone, in company and in wide open spaces. She is fine in traffic and lives on a working farm.

She's very easy to look after, catch, box, shoe and clip.

She has mild sweet itch in the summer months which is easily managed wearing a rug. She passed a 5 stage vetting last July. Her tack will be available to purchase.

Gary 12.2hh 10 year old gelding

Gary is a super flashy and well put together Welsh section B pony. He is by Teilwood Trysor out of a Eyarth Rio mare. He is a real eye catching type

Gary is a very talented pony, with 3 lovely paces and a very scopey jump. He is ultra careful and very willing. He has competed up to 75cm, been cross country and rides sweetly on the flat making a nice shape.

He is not sharp at all and is very level headed. He’s got an extremely trainable brain, the world is his oyster and he really will go on to do anything! He would excel in working hunter, dressage, bsja and would also be a fantastic export for the USA hunter jumpers

This boy really deserves a 5 star home, he is the friendliest pony and always wants cuddles and kisses

  • Wanted 13:3 - 15:1 hh Safe and sane happy hacker
  • Experienced long term loving home awaits right horse
  • Gelding preferred but non marish mare considered

Due to the loss of my wonderful Connemara in January I’m searching for my new best friend.

I primarily hack but would like the opportunity to do beach rides and holidays away with my friend and her horse.

I’m not adverse to a veteran or a horse/pony with health issues as long as fully disclosed. Something that’s been there and done it but now needs a quieter life would be ideal.

Must be good in all traffic and travel in a trailer.

I’ve owned and ridden horses all my life but I’m now in my sixties and no longer brave so no bucking, rearing, bolting or napping, no project horses and no dealers.

In return I can offer a long term experienced home on my  own land at my home with other horses, all year turnout with field shelter and stabling as required

References available.

Realistic budget for the right horse.

Poppy is a much-loved mare who has done a bit of everything and genuinely enjoys her job. She is a kind, easy horse with a lovely temperament and a fun, forward ride without being sharp or spooky.
She has experience in:

Hacking alone and in company (good in traffic, used to farm machinery)

Schooling – moves nicely and works in a consistent outline

Showjumping – happily pops a small course

Cross country – bold and enjoys it

Showing – consistently placed and well behaved at shows

She has been out to multiple venues including shows, leisure rides and clinics, and takes new environments in her stride.
On the ground, Poppy is easy to manage: Good to catch, load, travel, bath. Good for the farrier (barefoot with strong feet)
Happy living in or out
She has lived on a busy yard and is used to a lot going on around her.

Why for sale: Sadly outgrown by teenage riders and lack of stable space means she is currently turned away. She will need bringing back into work, which is reflected in her price.

Important: Poppy had a previous injury (happy to discuss in full), from which she has long since fully recovered and has been in regular work with no issues. Priced accordingly.

She would suit a small adult or competent older child with knowledgeable support, looking for a safe and enjoyable allrounder for low-level activities.

Allrounder green book registered Welsh Section C Mare Looking for her next adventure. Golden Phoenix is a 13 year old mare searching for her new person to love and enjoy her.

Standing at 12.2hh she's a real eye-catcher with a kind character who will happily be lead around on the lead rein (including from another horse) or step up for a more confident light jockey. Great in traffic - she's not bothered by cars, buses, bikes or scary bush monsters. She loves hacking and has been to pony club rallies and camp.

Although great on the lead rein, she can be forward going off lead and a competent rider can bring the best out for her. She is therefore either a lead rein or second pony.

Good for the farrier, vet, clip. Needs a little patience when loading but if done regularly, loads well.

This is a tough sale after being part of the family for 8 years so a 5 star home required.

Good-doer with laminitis history in the past so requires controlled grazing but no current laminitis. Currently being used as a lead rein, long reining, cantering on the lunge etc. She is barefoot but has boots for stony ground.

  • Super safe and fun pony for sale!

Caramel is a 13.1 hand new forest mare. I brought her from the forest in October as a project and have backed and produced her to where she is now!

She is super safe doesn’t buck, rear, bolt!

She’s very forward and can have a spook every now and again so definitely NOT a first pony but would be an ideal second pony for a little kid for them to have fun on.

She’s good to hack and will hack alone and in company. Happy to lead or go behind in a group. Safe to canter out and never bolts.
Schooling she has three nice paces and really enjoys her schooling!

Jumping she is a bit more green as I have focused on her flat work and pole work rather than jumping! But does pop a jump nicely!

She has been ridden by children and is still the same for them!

She is good to clip and for the farrier.

She’s up to date with:

Farrier
Physio
Dentist
Vaccines
