I am searching for a trustworthy, best friend type to welcome to our kind, knowledgeable, family home. Our horses are treated as part of our family & they receive the absolute best of care. I would be happy to provide references & to keep in touch.

I have ridden for several years & consider myself a knowledgeable & capable rider. However, due to ongoing health issues with my horse, who is now retired, I haven’t ridden as consistently in more recent years & so I am no longer as confident as I once was. Therefore, I am seeking a laid back, best friend type, who does not need riding most days to remain safe & sane (realistically, I will generally ride 3-4 times a week).

We will be enjoying fun hacks from home, attending organised pleasure rides, forest trips, XC schooling & some clinics. I will at times want to hack alone but will also hack alongside my young daughter on her (sometimes quirky!) horse, so it is especially important that I find a level-headed, trustworthy type who I can depend on. Due to us going out in our horsebox regularly, I would like to find a horse who is good to load / travel &, most importantly, who remains calm & polite to handle & ride in different environments.

Our horses are kept at home with us & have all year turnout (stabled overnight during winter). I would love to find a gentle natured, polite character & a true best friend type.

We live in a rural area & although we generally meet very little traffic, when we do, it is often likely to be a tractor/farm vehicle. Therefore, it is hugely important that my new horse is confident around this type of traffic.

* I do appreciate that no horse is ‘perfect’ & that ‘bombproof’ does not exist & I am open to compromise, but please do just be honest about any possible known ‘issues’ as I will not buy unseen & would want to have any potential horse vetted *

Samson ⭐️

The Apple of my eye my little Sammy starfish! I bought Sampson as a 2yo, and have had the privilege of producing him. He has been the most wonderful little horse and a total pleasure to do in all ways. He is a much sought after cross Connemara x draught, he combines native hardiness with athleticism and a cheeky but very level headed nature.

He was broken in with us last yr as a 3yo, had the winter off to mature and then came in this summer to continue his education.

Sammy is good to hack, alone or in company. He never naps. He is good in all traffic/bikes/farm machinery. He is super to ride in open spaces and big grassy fields. He has been on a couple of steady fun rides and was very good and not phased by anything.

He is working well in the school for his age. He works in a soft outline and is very balanced. He has a lovely mouth and is really working well in the contact. He canters on the correct lead and has a basic understanding of lateral work. He has attended a couple of prelim dressage tests and has always done a sweet test and been in the ribbons! He is not bothered by the boards and isn’t spooky in the arena.

Samson is showing lots of promise over a Showjump. He has been to some arena hires and a couple of unaffiliated shows. He has never stopped at anything and is super willing and careful. He is an easy horse to ride to a fence as he is always looking ahead to the next job! He has a lovely even canter around a course, and I can’t wait to see what this little chap does in the future.

Sampson is wonderful xc, he is very brave with water/ditches/skinnies. He has been xc schooling on an arena as well as on grass.

Sampson is a super talented jumper, he easily loose jumps 130/140cm for fun. He is a super exciting prospect for the future.

He is good to do in all ways, he is good to shoe, lives in or out, good to bath, load, travel, catch. He is good with other horses. He is a plucky, jolly little horse. He has a fabulous attitude and he is super intelligent. I would like to see him in a home produced on to event as this is where I think he will shine. But similarly he will be happy being loved by someone! Open to any vetting. Please note- he dishes with both fore limbs. Is this is something that you do not want, or something that wouldn’t be acceptable for showing then he probably isn’t for you!

We have had Belle since a yearling, she has always been super kind and easy to do. Lives on a busy working farm and seen machinery. she has yet to bat an eye lid of the comings and goings of farm life.

She has lived in and out and is no different if she’s had to spend a few days in due to bad weather. Alternatively, she will turn out with anything, mares or geldings. Youngstock or bossy brood mares. She will just leave them be! She’s one in the field you don’t have to worry about who you pair her with. Small herd or big, she’s not worried.

Good to catch, you can go straight up to her and fix her rug, pick her feet up. She isn’t one to join in on the naughty pony brigade.

Great to travel and load. Belle had travelled in a trailer and the big lorry and drag. She will travel next to anything. Walk on up, chuck the rope over her neck whilst you shut the partition. She travels regularly back and forth to the big field.

Very sad reasonings in which she has grown to big for her owner, my mother. Mum has only ever had native ponies, and as a yearling Belle was expected to grow to 15.2hh, however here we are Belle obviously didn’t get that memo!

Belle has been kept at home with us or also on full livery at the stud yard she has been on for the last two years. Where she has been impeccably well looked after!

Super Smart 148 Connie x Tb

Low mileage pony, having been in a mainly hacking home prior to coming to us through a friend and starting jumping/ schooling life. She has been produced steadily here between me and my 12 year old son, with her future in mind. We had not intended to sell her.

Fun, forward and competition type to ride and a little trier. Really easy on the ground and lovely to have around- a bit of a sweetheart.

Very adaptable and up for adventure and would turn her hoof to many a job. I think she would make a cracking BS/BE pony with the right jockey or be a good parent/ child share, as she has been with us. With a bit of thoroughbred in her, I imagine she could even do some pony racing too, if that were your thing.

She's done lots of outings, clinics, pc and been xc schooling so now ready to start her competitive career with next partner. She does step up or down for her rider, but wouldn't be a first pony. Developing a careful, agile and bold jump. Jumping 70/80 with my novice son, 90/100 with me and popped 110 on lunge.

A really sad sale due to my imminent knee surgery and my son's preference for ball sports over poo picking/yard duties in my absence. I'll be out for a year and I feel it wouldn't be fair for her to wait when she's at such a good point now for someone to take forward.

Fantastic hack/traffic on her own and in company. Great for farrier, dentist, jabs, clipping, loading etc... Lives out with us and although originally with other horses, she is now on her own as they have sadly had to go too. She has been happy and contented in both scenarios.

Doesn't buck, rear or bolt but would skit sideways if something genuinely surprised her. She can feel a bit keen at times, but always stops when asked and I think as she strengthens, she will require you less for balance. We only have her in a loose ring snaffle, so it does give plenty of options if you felt you needed it.
