DO YOU HAVE A HORSE OR PONY SUITABLE FOR THE RDA?

WANTED ON LONG TERM LOAN / PURCHASE

Ref #: 249896
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below
  • If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below

One of the main issues that RDA groups face is finding an Equine to suit the needs of the participants in their group.

We are regularly contacted with offers of Equines that are ‘the ideal RDA horse or pony’ when actually what is ideal for one group may not be for the next. We are trying to move away from the stereotypical view that RDA Equines are elderly and somewhat static, our horses and ponies need to be fit, healthy and athletic to cope with the lifestyle in an RDA group.

They can range from smaller, forward going ponies to weight carrying cobs and can take part in a range of disciplines from Riding to Carriage Driving, Vaulting to Show Jumping and Endurance.

If you contact an RDA Group about your Equine please be prepared to fill in an Equine Initial Interest Form which will ask you many questions about your horses’ temperament, health history, experience and lifestyle. Many groups will prefer to have an equine on trial to make sure they are suitable for the job.

For long term loans and purchases they will also be required to have a Pre-Purchase Examination.

If you think your equine has what it takes, please contact one of the groups below.

  • Schoolmaster type for mature adult
Looking for a safe and sensible 14.2/15.2 hh gelding (native type or light weight cob preferred) 8 - 15 yrs for hacking and schooling, possibly low level jumping due to having a riding accident last year and then losing my horse of 7 years.

Horse would want for nothing and be kept on large livery yard with excellent facilities including indoor/outdoor/jumping arenas as well as plenty of off road hacking. It is important that horse can be walked through fields on the buckle end as well as enjoying schooling as the winters are long!

Happy to travel within 150 miles of Skipton, North Yorkshire.

**WANTED show quality ridden gelding **

Ref #: 339903
  • Sane and sensible, but willing
  • For active and varied life, not just showing
  • To be home produced
  • Sane and sensible, but willing
  • For active and varied life, not just showing
  • To be home produced

I am looking for a show quality ridden gelding due to the retirement of my pony. A coloured native or large breed M&M, most likely a Highland, up to height Fell or Connemara.

I am looking for a quality pony that is true to type, with good bone and movement. A pony that is sane and sensible, but willing. To have a varied life showing, hacking, dressage, trips to the forest etc.

Must enjoy fuss and attention. To be home produced so must be easy enough to do things by myself and sensibly hack alone and with company. A confidence giver, either established or a novice that has seen a bit of life. To just enjoy!

Maybe some one knows of a pony which might suit me? Perhaps a correct pony but that lacks the wow factor for top level showing, but that I can have fun with and love.

Wanted Cob or Native type

Ref #: 340292
  • Lightweight lady looking for native pony / cob type for low level RC activities and hacking.
  • Lightweight lady looking for native pony / cob type for low level RC activities and hacking.
Age 7 years plus, 14hh - 16hh and able to hack alone and in company.

Must be reliable to jump small fences, good on the roads and in open spaces.

I am an experienced owner, but can lack confidence as a rider so need a safe sensible type.

Not looking for a world beater, just a reliable type to enjoy and love.

Kind, knowledgeable, permanent home for the right horse.

Will travel to view.

Wanted, safe, sound, sensible dancing partner!!! Home waiting where they will be loved & adored

Ref #: 339733
  • Chunky, funky, carrot junkie wanted!!
  • Chunky, funky, carrot junkie wanted!!
Chunky old fashioned warmbloods, iberian, cross breds preferred, would even consider a cob that thinks it's a warmblood....nothing too fine, middleweights rather than modern super light weight breeding please

I'm looking for a unicorn

I aim to be a kind, sensitive rider, I've previous BD points to medium, BHS coach, always training, learning, working to improve but not a super brave rider, so not looking for super sharp or overly spooky types, my own pony time is my down time, I want to pat, play and prance

I've no breed preference, no gender preference, just a nice mover, nice temperament, trainable brain, nothing too young, very min of 5, and that would be for an old head on young shoulders type!!

Budget around 20k bit of movement but please don't send me 30k horses unless you want to negotiate or I'll just cry and feel despondent

I do have aspirations of PSG long term goal

Age range 5-11, 16.2 plus 16.1 if built!!

Happy to keep in touch with owners

My horses want for nothing, regular training, physio etc, well managed and adored, I'm looking for a partner to dance with, not a slave for my ego, if you think you have a horse that might love this sort of life, please get in contact

Cob Wanted 14hh - 14.2hh

  • 5 - 10 years
  • 14 - 14.2hh
  • Cob wanted
  • 5 - 10 years
  • 14 - 14.2hh

I'm looking to buy a cob between the ages of 5 - 10yo and 14 - 14.2hh, 14.3hh maximum

Mainly for hacking out on Dartmoor; I would do some basic schooling.

We own a 3.84 acre field in very good condition with natural and artificial shelter; the cob will need to live out.

As with our last 3 equines, it would be a home for life.

It would need to be easy to handle in traffic and have a lovely temperament and good conformation.

Sane Dressage Horse

Ref #: 339894
  • Looking for a new best friend to have some dressage fun with
  • Looking for a new best friend to have some dressage fun with

I have ridden all my life but I have now got to the stage where I creak a little more and simply want to enjoy my outings with my equine friend rather than worry about going splat!

Don't get me wrong I am not looking for a machine but the hysterical over reaction of some horses was for the younger me, not the current me.

So, must haves;

- no younger than 6 - would ideally like said friend to have been out and about a bit but not over competed.
- max 16.2hh as I am only 5ft 4in
- no wide backed or cob types as my hips just won't stretch that far....
- must, must be ok with loading, travelling and going away from home on their own. I love to vary things so could be a pole lesson one week or to join a friend for a hack another.
- must be ok to hack on his/her own. Again, I may not do it all the time but I would like to have the freedom to go for a potter. I don't do gallop hacks now.
- must be ok to be stabled for some of the time. We live in a really wet area and turn out is restricted in Winter. If said horse would not cope with that then I may not be the right home.
- 3 correct paces, with a good hind leg. Doesn't have to be flashy as actually I prefer an understated movement that will improve with training rather than front legs by their ears.
- not really fussed by breeding but would have to be convinced if certain "known to be more reactive" lines are in there.
- good to shoe, clip, travelling (did I mention that? ;) ), etc and not fussed by change of environment/venue
- all around nice person as I do like to see pricked ears greeting me rather than ears pinned back...I have 2 teenagers who already do that thank you
- must be sound and all veterinary history disclosed. Will carry out 5 stage plus x rays depending on budget.
- Ideally in the South but will travel for the right horse.

Above unicorn will live a lovely life with correct training, body work support and an excellent farrier.

Good budget but not limitless.
