POPPY | 2022 | 15.3HH THOROUGHBRED MARE

A lovely young mare with a bright future ahead of her!

Poppy is an attractive 15.3hh bay Thoroughbred mare, born in 2022, who has recently retired from racing and is now ready to begin an exciting new chapter.

With her athletic build, lovely movement and cheerful personality, Poppy has plenty to offer someone looking for a young horse to educate and develop into a versatile riding partner. We can see her potential in several disciplines, and we would love to see her find a home where she can enjoy learning and discovering what she is capable of.

A lovely personality

Poppy is a genuinely happy, cheerful mare who enjoys life and is a pleasure to have around. She has lived out happily alongside both mares and geldings, making her accustomed to living with other horses.

She is currently barefoot but is accustomed to being shod all round when in regular work.

Experience and potential

Poppy has had two runs in bumpers, making her eligible for Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) activities, subject to the relevant eligibility requirements.

Although she has not raced over hurdles, she has experience with pole work and has jumped barrels, logs and other obstacles. She therefore has some useful foundations to build upon as she begins her transition from racing into a new career.

She is a particularly lovely mover, with plenty of natural action and a tendency to flick her toes. We can easily imagine her catching the eye in the show ring, while her athleticism and previous experience also make her an interesting prospect for someone considering eventing.

A fresh start and a new career

Poppy is being offered for sale because she hasn’t quite met her owners’ expectations on the track. She has been sold directly from the field, as we simply haven’t had the time to get her going and explore her potential outside racing.

She will need re-education, schooling and further development as she adjusts to life beyond the track. For this reason, she is not suitable for a complete novice.

With the right person, patience and consistent education, Poppy has the potential to develop into a smart and versatile riding horse.

Health and viewings

* Reported sound on retirement from racing

* No known injuries, lumps, bumps or stable vices

* Vettings welcome

We believe Poppy deserves the opportunity to discover a new career with someone who will enjoy bringing on a young Thoroughbred and helping her reach her potential.

• Exceptionally elastic, athletic mover with plenty of blood
• Scopey jump with an excellent hind end
• Outstanding temperament – exceptionally well handled from birth

Firefly Jammie Dodger is a quality 3-year-old Sport Horse with all the attributes of a very exciting competition prospect.

By Monmore Tommy (Lenamore Coolda Cruise by Cruising x Cloverhill), Jammie is an exceptionally elastic, athletic horse with plenty of blood and a lovely way of going. He has a very good trot and canter, loads of jump and is particularly impressive behind over a fence. He is quick and athletic off the ground, with an excellent hind end and plenty of scope.

There is tonnes of quality about him. He is light on his feet, naturally balanced and elastic. Very much a competition type who could be produced towards a number of disciplines.

Jammie’s dam was a blood-type Sport Horse mare who sadly died foaling Jamie before her passport had been completed, and as a result his dam is not recorded on his passport. Her family are known to us, however.

His maternal granddam is Monmore Maggie, dam of Global Monmore and full sister to Kilrush Red. His known maternal lineage goes back to horses such as Young Loughinvar, Silverado TB and Young Edmond, with Supreme Rock, the twice European Eventing Champion, also appearing in the wider family.

While this breeding cannot all be reflected on Jammie’s passport, it is interesting background to a young horse who very much looks and moves like a competition horse.

His temperament is another huge asset. Jammie was orphaned at birth and has consequently been extensively handled from day one. He is exceptionally kind and straightforward, easy to catch from the middle of a herd and genuinely loves people – essentially a lapdog in the field. He is well handled and doing all the basics.

Jammie has been exceptionally well cared for and adored since the day he was born. For that reason, a very good home is particularly important for this horse. We would love to see him go to someone who will produce him properly and give him the opportunity to fulfil his potential.

A quality young horse that’s proving to be very easy todo in everyway taking everything in his stride.

Has been to arena hire with us proving to be very unphased by anything.

Full history known but his owners as he’s a home breed.

Would suit someone who wants a lovely horse to produce on for eventing / jumping or top end riding horse
