A Genuine Confidence Giver – Quality, Kind and Talented
Diamond is an absolutely lovely, approximately 16.2hh, 7-year-old Irish mare with an exceptional temperament. Laid-back, straightforward and uncomplicated, she is very much the type who wants to look after her rider.
She was recently sold after passing a 5-stage vetting. Unfortunately, her new owner has found her size too much to handle on the ground. Through no fault of Diamond’s, she is back up for sale at a reduced price.
Diamond had been in the same home since she was 3, where she was ridden and enjoyed by an older gentleman. She has always looked after her rider, and that shows in her sensible, forgiving and genuine nature. She has no desire to make life difficult.
Diamond is a quality Traditional Irish Sport Horse by Imperial Blue Diamond out of a Big Sink Hope (TB) mare. She was awarded SELECT status and a 1-Star Merit for Athleticism at the Horse Sport Ireland Studbook Mare Inspections.
Her best quality is her wonderful temperament and rideability. She is far more kick than pull, never sharp or silly, and gives her rider a safe, secure feeling. She has a lovely snaffle mouth, is responsive to the leg without feeling quick, and is willing and keen to please.
On the flat, Diamond is straightforward and enjoyable to ride, with lovely balanced paces. She doesn’t need a rider to constantly hold everything together and is a pleasure to have underneath you.
She is an absolute pleasure to jump: brave, careful, willing and honest. Diamond takes you nicely to a fence and genuinely wants to get to the other side. She is forgiving if a rider doesn’t get everything quite right, while offering plenty of scope and ability without making them feel over-horsed. She would be a lovely confidence giver for someone who wants to enjoy their jumping and continue progressing.
Diamond is excellent in open spaces and remains sensible and rideable. She hacks alone and in company, is good in traffic and is happy to go at the front, back or middle.
Her lovely nature continues on the ground. She is kind, friendly and uncomplicated to handle, loads and travels well, and is straightforward to take away from home. She is vice-free, snaffle mouthed and generally an easy, low-maintenance mare.
Diamond would be particularly well suited to an amateur, Riding Club or Pony Club home, a mother-and-daughter share, or a teenager coming off ponies who wants something safe and genuine but still smart and talented. She could also make a fantastic all-rounder, hunter or event horse.
She really is a difficult combination to find: safe without being boring, talented without being sharp, and quality without being complicated. Most of all, she is a genuinely kind and willing mare who wants to look after her rider.
